Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Might Not Get a Speaking Slot at Democratic National Convention

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Might Not Get a Speaking Slot at Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention is happening in a little over a week, and it’s still not clear if progressive darling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will have a speaking role.

Former Ohio Governor John Kasich, a Republican, is confirmed but not AOC. That’s hilarious.

Steve Nelson of the New York Post reports that party centrists are keeping AOC at bay:

AOC may be denied speaking slot at Democratic National Convention

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be denied a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention this month, according to a report.

Although the 30-year-old Democratic socialist is one of the most recognizable new leaders in the party, centrists are opposed to giving her time to speak.

“I think [Vermont Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] and [Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth] Warren will speak, and they’ll represent the progressive wing of the party very ably,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell told Politico.

Rendell, a longtime friend of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, said it would be unfair to highlight Ocasio-Cortez, who took office last year after a shocking primary win.

“If you picked AOC, why wouldn’t you pick Katie Porter or why wouldn’t you pick Madeleine Dean or Mary Gay Scanlon?” Rendell said, referring to other recently elected congresswomen.

Morgan Phillips of FOX News is reporting something similar:

Clintons, Obamas expected to speak at Democratic Convention; AOC might not make the cut

Barack and Michelle Obama and Hillary and Bill Clinton are reportedly set to speak at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), along with a number of other high-profile Democrats.

But Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may not make the cut.

Others who have been tapped for the coveted speaking slots include three of Joe Biden’s former opponents — Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., along with the presumptive Democratic nominee’s wife Jill Biden, according to Politico…

Democrats are also trying to secure well-known military veterans and other Republicans known for their national security expertise to speak at a portion of the convention dedicated to foreign policy.

It’s “unclear” whether AOC will have any public role in the convention, but other other prominent Democrats, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have roles, Politico reported. Given the time constraints – two hours of programming each night Aug. 17 – Aug. 20 – the Biden campaign will be forced to make cuts.

Politico is saying that AOC will be included, but even they can’t confirm it:

On Friday afternoon, a fellow House member said people close to Ocasio-Cortez said she will get a primetime speaking role and deserves one because she is leading climate change policy for Biden, referring to the “unity” task force created by the former vice president and Sanders that she co-chaired. In response, Ocasio-Cortez spokeswoman Lauren Hitt declined to confirm or deny Ocasio-Cortez’s inclusion in the virtual program, but said, “No one close to the congresswoman said that.”

Don’t be surprised if the organizers end up changing their minds about this.

A convention that features Kasich but not AOC will not go over well with their base.

Of course they will have military traitors and RINOs speaking
What time is Romney on?

Engineers has successfully convinced Party officials that no human-built structure could possibly hold both John Kasich’s and Mitt Romneycare’s egos. So only one gets the prime time honor of helping turn America into a Maoist hellhole.

Nancy Pelosi Admits On CNN: “China Would Prefer Joe Biden”

It’s simple: they don’t want her embarrassing them.

I didn’t see hiden-Biden in that list…

so sad….

Shouldn’t that be a Screaking slot?

“A convention that features Kasich but not AOC will not go over well with their base.”

The base may not like it, but what can they do? The Joseph Goebbels media certainly won’t give dissenters any publicity, and publicity is as necessary as oxygen to the genocidal maniacs who make up the Communist Party’s base. How many of the little brownshirts will bother to show up at a riot if there are no journalists writing/broadcasting hagiographic stories about their “courage and passion”?

And staying home on Election Day in a snit is no option. Thanks to massive voting fraud their votes will be cast even if they don’t show up at the polls or mail in their ballots.

Will those speakers be attending in person, unlike the presumptive nominee? Doesn’t that make his non-appearance look odd? Or are they doing the whole thing like a zoom conference?

So no Green New Podium for the Petty Princess of Progressivism?

Are they afraid that she’ll emit too much CO2?

Will any of the speakers have genuine imitation fake styrofoam Greek columns as props? They were good enough for The Wizard of Uhhs.

Somehow I feel as if a speaking slot is not the best slot for her.

caption that lede pic…
What do you mean money doesn’t grow on trees ???

To be fair, AOC has done more to earn the right to speak than Michelle Obama.

They know AOC is unpredictable, says stupid things sometimes, and could be a self – inflicted DNC human molotov cocktail.

Although the 30-year-old Democratic socialist is one of the most recognizable new leaders in the party, centrists are opposed to giving her time to speak.

So is a dem centrist someone who believes abortion is legal up until one second before birth rather than sitting down over coffee with the doc after the birth to decide if the baby should live?
I heard aoc is worried about the sale of tik tok, she’s not sure how anyone will ever know what time it is if it happens.

Let her be the very first speaker. The staff can enjoy hearing from her while they get the chairs set up and the kinks in the video feed worked out. Then get her the heck out of there. If she complains, they’ll tell her she was the “premier” speaker.
.

A convention that features Kasich but not AOC will not go over well with their base.
Disagree. It won’t go over well with some very LOUD portion of their base. But most of their base don’t think much of AOC.

well that’s disappointing. listening AOC ramble on in her unique incoherent fashion promised to be the most entertaining thing on TV in 2020.
side note:anybody want to buy 50lbs of microwave popcorn?

There;’s only enough room for one source of incoherent babble per convention, and if Shortbus Joe is the nominee they’ll need to reserve that honor for him.
