Trump Admin Denies Minneapolis $500m Riot Damage Bailout Request

Trump Admin Denies Minneapolis $500m Riot Damage Bailout Request

Rep. Jeff Duncan: “Governors and Mayors who ordered police to stand down and watch their cities burn shouldn’t get a penny in taxpayer aid!”

Begun as a truly peaceful protest against the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the protests quickly devolved into riots, looting, arson . . . and, eventually, perhaps inevitably, murder.

This conflagration of lawlessness quickly morphed into a nation-wide push by various aligned Marxist and anarchist groups to destroy America, capitalism, history, our very culture and our heritage.  Minnesota was ground zero for the rampaging rioting, looting, arson, vandalism, and murder spree that is still engulfing parts of our great nation.

Instead of putting a stop to the property destruction, Minnesota officials kind of shrugged indulgently, smiled benignly, and let their cities burn.  Indeed, Minneapolis officials led the way on the left’s lunatic proposal to “abolish the police,” alternately called “defund the police,” and effectively had the police stand down as violence and destruction raged in their cities.

When violence occurred, Minnesota Democrats, including Gov. Tim Walz, had the audacity to blame Trump-supporting “white supremacists” and the “far right” rather than the obvious instigators, antifa.   Even national Democrats and much of their media activist arm couldn’t get on board with such a ludicrous and obvious lie.

So now, their cities in smoldering ruins, guess who they want to bail them out?  Yep, those nasty “white supremacist” tax payers in every state in the union.  Thankfully, sanity still prevails in DC, and the Trump administration has denied their request for $500 million to fix the damage they gleefully permitted.

The Star Tribune reports:

The federal government has denied Gov. Tim Walz’s request for aid to help rebuild and repair Twin Cities structures that were damaged in the unrest following George Floyd’s death.

Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2. More than 1,500 buildings were damaged by fires, looting and vandalism in the days of unrest that followed Floyd’s May 25 death in Minneapolis police custody, racking up more than $500 million in damages, according to Walz.

The governor’s spokesman, Teddy Tschann, confirmed late Friday that the request for federal aid was denied.

“The Governor is disappointed that the federal government declined his request for financial support,” Tschann said in a statement. “As we navigate one of the most difficult periods in our state’s history, we look for support from our federal government to help us through.”

Many small businesses and grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices were damaged during the unrest. In his letter to FEMA, Walz said what happened in the Twin Cities after Floyd’s death was the second most destructive incident of civil unrest in U.S. history, after the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) sent a letter to President Trump pointing out the obvious.

Republican Minnesota U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer on Thursday sent a letter to Trump in response to Walz’s aid request, asking for a “thorough and concurrent review” of the state’s response to the unrest so that “every governor, mayor and local official can learn from our experiences” and prevent such a situation from happening again.

“If the federal government is expected to assist in the clean-up of these unfortunate weeks, it has an obligation to every American — prior to the release of funding — to fully understand the events which allowed for this level of destruction to occur and ensure it never happens again,” Emmer wrote.

It’s hard to argue with this one, so of course the Progressive Left will.

But this wasn’t an act of God or Nature. This wasn’t a hurricane, terrible storm, or massive flood. This wasn’t a fire started by a cow kicking over a lantern.

This was greed, stupidity, avarice, cowdarice, and evil all wrapped together.

Let the Minnesota taxpayers foot the bill for this one. Perhaps they’ll get the message. More likely, they won’t.

“Elections have consequences.” said Obama a few years back (2014?).

The pandemic is a media driven event orchestrated by a group of industries and interests with a set of aligned objectives, none of which are in the interest of the general public. Some see the one world government push while others see the pharmaceutical industry etc. but it most definitely is not about some disease. You don’t need to be a infectious disease expert to understand that the measures and reporting don’t make any sense other than create fear and panic in a public that has lost most capacity to think critically. – zero hedge

I would sure like to see Obama made sorry for all the crap he pulled, and continues to pull to this day. Obama was the cause of lots of people walking away from Democrats.

“This was greed, stupidity, avarice, cowardice, and evil all wrapped together.”

It was more than that, I was about extreme black on everyone else racism. It was about local yoko’s thinking they could burn down shabby old, and get completely free shiny new, and great opportunity for graft on a grand scale.

Kind of like how blue states send taxes and spending soaring through the roof, and the demand massive SALT deductions and Federal bailouts.

It’s like filing an insurance claim after inviting the arsonists to do their worst.
Come to think of it, there’s a play about exactly this.

These democrat mayors tell the police to stand down, let the mayhem ravage their cities and then expect others to pay for the damages and repairs that their own support of the mob caused in the first place. Not no, but hell no!

Evolution (i.e. chaotic process), and I think we can confidently identify the fitness function. Actually, it was progressive (i.e. monotonic) and predictable, repeatable, again, and again, and again. That said, Democrats want to abort the baby… Fetal-American, and have her, too.

…well, almost like this.

Wow. This is winning.

When they come back – which they will, Trump should condition aid provided the governor, the Mayor and all the Minneapolis city council step down permanently and give up any government pensions or benefits. And those muslim Congresswomen who urge the rioters should also go too.

And have only Minnesota Republicans decide who gets aid.

When they turn this down it will again be obvious to their citizens that they care not for the citizens – only for themselves and their criminal accomplices.

Well, Dictator Walz could have activated the National Guard to stop the damage from occurring in the first place. Would have been good training for them. Simple orders- Suppress the riot, Shoot to kill.

But he was likely hoping Trump would send in Federal forces to do that, then he could complain of Trump’s overreaction. Whoops. Didn’t work. Local and state authorities are responsible for suppressing riots, and if they need it, then they can request federal help. If they let the rioters riot without consequence, the damage is on them.

death of George Floyd in Minneapolis

Wuhan virus? Fentanyl overdose? A comorbidity triggered by multiple stressors? They should have sent a paramedic to conduct the arrest.

The autopsy determined that there was no significant damage to Floyd’s neck/throat and no strangulation. The cops didn’t kill him. He died from his poor health, the meth+fentanyl he took and the stress of resisting arrest.

The news media knows this and won’t tell the truth because they work for the progressive fascists and want blacks to be angry. It’s election season and anger makes blacks susceptible to progressive fascist lies.

So, how will social justice mental health first responders deal with a riot in the future, lol…

Perhaps they will explain to the rioters’ victims that they deserved to be beaten and their homes burned?

I thought they were peaceful protests.

Comanche Voter | July 11, 2020 at 9:07 pm

You chumps in Minneapolis voted your city government in. You broke it, you own it. Why should I contribute one thin tax dime to the clusterfark you created. I’ve got the damage from my own set of clowns here in California to pay for.

There are many that were hurt that had nothing to do with the riots. Perhaps individual claims, like with 9-11, allowed, but not for public entities or large corporations, especially if they gave support to BLM. Let them lead the rebuild effort.

I can practically guarantee that the taxpayer bailout to Minnesota would be skimmed like crazy by the Leftist idiots who run the place, and only a tiny trickle would actually make it to the people who were hurt.

If we can find a way to help them without letting the local governmental looters pillage the cash, great.

    TX-rifraph in reply to oldschooltwentysix. | July 12, 2020 at 7:15 am

“There are many that were hurt that had nothing to do with the riots…”

If they voted Dem, are they really innocent? If the Dems are voted out in November, perhaps help the small businesses in some way. If the Dems remain in control and there is no policing in Mpls, then any help would be throwing away good money.

The city and state government is is displaying stunning incompetence so far. One would think Minnesota is being run by the same people who ran the Iowa Caucus fiasco. Oh,…wait…

One would only reopen a business in the city if one could use other people’s money.

There’s no such thing as individual claims to the Fedgov for this sort of thing. Only states and cities get to ask for this kind of aid. And they don’t deserve it. Let individuals go to their state and city governments and demand help.

nordic_prince | July 11, 2020 at 9:35 pm

It takes a certain amount of chutzpah to stand by idly and let the city burn, then turn around and ask for taxpayer $$$ to clean up your $#!+.

You made your burned-out bed, Minneapolis – now lie in it.

Bring me the heads of Walz, the boy mayor and all of the city council, and I might take your requests under consideration.

Trump has more backbone than most politicians. He’s warning mayors and governors that the Feds will not rescue them if they are complicit in rioting and looting. This policy will certainly apply to Seattle, Portland, New York, and other major cities.

It makes sense that our tax dollars should be used to bail them out only if they did everything in their power to prevent the destruction. As soon as they tell the police to “stand down,” they have forfeited any right to federal help.

“”audacity to blame Trump-supporting “white supremacists” and the “far right” rather than the obvious instigators, antifa.””

When in reality, antifa ARE the “white supremacists”.

“”sanity still prevails in DC””

Let’s not get carried away here.

No federal tax money is needed. Leftists assured us everything was insured and it would all be rebuilt. Oh, and surely there wasn’t really that much damage in what Leftists assured us were ‘mostly peaceful protests’.

Communist China’s Silent War Against America

Sat, 07/11/2020 – 23:30

Authored by Bowen Xiao via The Epoch Times,

Stealthily, surreptitiously, and with sweeping precision, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began a decades-long war against America for world domination by utilizing a military strategy known as “unrestricted warfare” that continues today.

Unbeknownst to most of the population, the CCP has infiltrated almost every major avenue of life in the United States – leaving virtually no industry untouched. While this threat has largely existed undetected, the effects it’s had on the nation, as well as its geopolitical consequences, are far-reaching.

Minnesota made it pretty clear that they wanted this destruction..in fact loved it. It was cheered throughout the urban areas. There is no point in other paying for it.
They will want to do it again and again.
Democrats= kill, hang, burn, destroy.

Good.

The best comment I’ve seen so far on this:

“Good. Stupid should hurt.”

Oh, we’ll pay for it, in some amount. Track your insurance premiums.
.

had they arrested and fined those involved they may of had a nice downpayment

texansamurai | July 12, 2020 at 11:23 am

whether they could have prevented the rioting/looting/arson all together or not, the leftist/prog mayor/city officials COULD and had the means to, at the very least, LIMIT the destruction instead of standing-down and enabling(and in some cases abetting)the chaos

PDJT is right–it’s THEIR fvcking bill

Albigensian in reply to texansamurai. | July 12, 2020 at 12:23 pm

My understanding is that in a civil suit damages can be reduced if the plaintiff failed to take reasonable steps to mitigate losses. Thus (for example) if a tenant breaks a lease, the landlord is expected to mitigate damages by making a good-faith effort to find another tenant, and damages may be reduced if the landlord fails to do so.

This is obviously not a civil suit (no one’s suing the federal gov’t for damages), but, I suspect most citizens believe a similar principle should apply: if local officials failed to mitigate damages then the rest of us should not be taxed to provide relief.

“(no one’s suing the federal gov’t for damages)”

Yet. Having the request denied, virtually guarantees that they will sue for it. Their case will be, “Orange Man Bad.” In some courts, that’s a winning argument.*

Good. And as a New Yorker I hope NY doesn’t get a penny either.

Trump should not only not pay for the damage the democrats allowed, but he should cut their current federal dollars to hold them accountable for being negligent.

Best news of the day! EAT IT Minnesota, this is what you made happen, not me.

That’s how you do it. What was so hard?

Destroy the GOP: starve it to death. Only donate to individual candidates and PDJT.

That’s right–not a cent to those left wing scum. Governor Walz’s daughter was in collusion with the rioters–he should be forced to resign.

I just hope the President sticks to his guns on this.

Is it really legal for governors and mayors to order the police not to interfere while their supporters break the law? Doesn’t this make the politicians guilty of a conspiracy to commit crimes?
