Profs Demand University Police Chief Resign Over Blue Lives Matter Flag in His Home

“Students and faculty were outraged by the chief’s choice of wall decor and expressed their grievances with WVU immediately.”

The craziest part of this story is that people only saw inside the chief’s home because he was hosting an online diversity event.

Campus Reform reports:

Profs demand university police chief resign after seeing Blue Lives Matter flag in his home

Even after the police chief at West Virginia University publicly apologized for a “Thin Blue Line” flag displayed in his home during a Zoom meeting, professors at the university are still demanding his resignation.

In response to George Floyd’s death, West Virginia University’s Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Meshea Poore and W.P. Chedester, chief of University Police, sent out a letter to the students and faculty of WVU.

“We stand united against the violence and racism, discrimination or bias towards Black people that has plagued our country for so many years,” the letter read. “And by recognizing there is a systemic problem in many law enforcement agencies across the U.S. and taking a stand against injustice, we can begin the process of rebuilding trust within our communities.”

In order to discuss “how we can work together to foster a safe, diverse, and inclusive culture,” West Virginia University hosted a virtual Campus Conversation over Zoom. The format of the call allowed students to ask questions to university officials regarding race relations on campus.

Visible during the video conference was a hand-carved Thin Blue Line flag on Chedester’s wall.

The Thin Blue Line flag is viewed by many as a symbol of “honor and respect” for law enforcement. According to Flags of Valor, “the Thin Blue Line embodies the unbreakable component of law enforcement standing as a safety barrier between the law-abiding citizens of America and the criminally inclined.”

Students and faculty were outraged by the chief’s choice of wall decor and expressed their grievances with WVU immediately.

It is time to DISCONTINUE federal and state funding for universities who don’t abide by our Constitutionally guaranteed Rights. Freedom of Speech is first and foremost among them.

The College Administration are terrified to stand up to the mob, make the Courts put the fear of litigation into them. No more appeasement.

    You can stop there.

The students have a First Amendment right to make their “demands”. This does not mean that they have the right to riot or to make criminal threats.

And this does not mean that the Administration should cave in to their “demands.” The Administration should tell the students that they have the right to “enforce” their demands by dropping out or by transferring to some other institution.

I have a Thin Blue Line Flag in my office. It is “virtue signaling” on my part, because most people do not recognize it, and those that do are almost all LEO.

Once you bend the knee to the mob, you can never grovel enough. The sign was on his private property–he should have told them to pound sand.

GFY, WVU.

How many of the outraged are teaching, or majoring in, real college work?

Headline is wrong. It was a Thin Blue Line flag, not a Blue Lives Matter Flag.

Either should be allowed, but one is definitely less controversial than the other (and makes this story even worse).

Tell the profs to go fo. Most could not survive in the real world.

Excuse me for asking this, but I live in the real world, not the world of elitist academia. How do these so-called academics attain the title of “professor” and the ability to indoctrinate the nation’s youth without question or challenge? Is it because the supposed leaders in the “institutions of higher learning” are simply fellow travelers?

Here’s how it works. If the school doesn’t capitulate to the activists, the activists will escalate to the point of bloodshed if necessary (BAMN). The bottom line for the school administration is that they have to be willing to send all of the students home if necessary to avoid capitulation.

The school administrators will never do that. Therefore they will always capitulate.

QED.

We have to find an education strategy which does not require concentrating large numbers of adolescents in one place. I like the Trump administration’s “Find Something New” initiative.

This whole concept of political correctness – you can say this, you can’t say that, you can’t repeat what someone said – is total foolishness and it’s going to destroy our nation. We need to be more mature than that. As American citizens, we have the constitutional right to freedom of speech. The First Amendment wasn’t designed with PC in mind; it wasn’t created to control our thoughts and stifle our opinions. As the left batters away at our nation’s protective laws, we lose more of our rights and privileges. The ability to express an opinion should not be repressed. When a couple of people get offended because they are snowflakes and shut down the majority who aren’t offended , we need to began to tell them to suck it up and seek mental/professional help. Otherwise the majority is prevented from getting the people’s business done. And that is not right!
It is time to realize as a Country we cannot be effective nor efficient by allowing a small minority of idiots stopping the majority from getting important objectives done!
Common sense and LIEberalism cannot occupy the same space and time!

Iam sorry to say, I think that blood will have to be spilled to restore our 1st Amendment rights.
