NY Times Pushes Conspiracy Theory About Trump Refusing to Accept 2020 Outcome

“After Mr. Biden wins a narrow Electoral College victory, Mr. Trump refuses to accept the results, won’t leave the White House and declines to allow the Biden transition team customary access to agencies before the Jan. 20 inauguration.”

http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2017/01/politics/trump-inauguration-gigapixel/

In the age of Trump, many media outlets have resorted to publishing pure fiction disguised as news, hence the popularity of the term “fake news.”

Over the weekend, the New York Times put out a story that is based purely on fantasy. It is like fan fiction for the “resistance.”

The scenario presented is that Trump is not going to accept the outcome of the 2020 election (sounds familiar) and that preparations are underway to deal with the situation.

Reid J. Epstein writes:

Trump Sows Doubt on Voting. It Keeps Some People Up at Night.

A group of worst-case scenario planners — mostly Democrats, but also some anti-Trump Republicans — have been gaming out how to respond to various doomsday options for the 2020 presidential election.

In October, President Trump declares a state of emergency in major cities in battleground states, like Milwaukee and Detroit, banning polling places from opening.

A week before the election, Attorney General William P. Barr announces a criminal investigation into the Democratic presidential nominee, Joseph R. Biden Jr.

After Mr. Biden wins a narrow Electoral College victory, Mr. Trump refuses to accept the results, won’t leave the White House and declines to allow the Biden transition team customary access to agencies before the Jan. 20 inauguration.

Far-fetched conspiracy theories? Not to a group of worst-case scenario planners — mostly Democrats, but some anti-Trump Republicans as well — who have been gaming out various doomsday options for the 2020 presidential election. Outraged by Mr. Trump and fearful that he might try to disrupt the campaign before, during and after Election Day, they are engaged in a process that began in the realm of science fiction but has nudged closer to reality as Mr. Trump and his administration abandon longstanding political norms.

Joe Biden has pushed this conspiracy theory as well, which Epstein advances without question. This is not a coincidence. The New York Times is doing this for the Biden campaign:

Mr. Biden, for his part, has suggested more than once that Mr. Trump might try to disrupt or delay the election. And his campaign grew very concerned this month when it was announced that election security briefings, which in past cycles had been delivered to candidates by the F.B.I. and the Department of Homeland Security, would now be the province of the director of national intelligence.

Epstein also puts forth a deliberately misleading story about Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, meant to sound like Trump insiders are plotting to postpone the election:

Mr. Trump has said he expects the election to be held on Nov. 3 as scheduled, and under federal law he does not have the power to unilaterally postpone it. But a recent comment by the president’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner about whether the election would be held as scheduled — “I’m not sure I can commit one way or another,’’ he said — renewed fears that Mr. Trump would try to move the election, or discredit the balloting process, if he thought he was going to lose.

This has been debunked, as we noted in a post earlier this month.

Hillary Clinton pushed this falsehood on Twitter:

Here is the full context of Kushner’s remarks:

Again, what is presented in Epstein’s article is not happening. It’s fantasy but is being presented as something that is already unfolding.

The same people in media who pushed the Russia collusion hoax for three years are pushing a new conspiracy theory while calling Trump and his supporters conspiracy theorists. It’s pure projection from people who have lost touch with reality.

So basically they are just filing off the numbers and reusing the stories they did in 2016?

I believe this is how the resistance started in 2016, claiming Trump won’t accept the results. What did the Country see then? The first time there was not a smooth transfer of power after an election. I am also seeing a lot of memes stating don’t accept mail in. I don’t believe conservatives will do that anyway. I think the other side of the isle will 1. attempt to win with falsified mail in votes and 2. not accept the loss when Trump wins. Same plays over and over again.

I imagine many NYT readers think this way, so it’s just giving them red meat.

Projection much?

So they’re claiming Trump is going to do in 2020 what they tried to do to Trump after the 2016 election?

These cretins don’t even have any imagination.

    TX-rifraph in reply to Finrod. | May 26, 2020 at 10:36 am

Nor do they have any moral grounding. (Not with any standing is their self-justifying “The ends justify the means.” and “By any means necessary.”)

No, they’re claiming Trump will do exactly what they DID in 2000 after Al Gore was defeated. The Presidential Transition Office was held hostage for over a month.

Isn’t this what Obama did?

MoeHowardwasright | May 26, 2020 at 9:43 am

The first part of this delusion is thinking that Plugs Biden has any chance at all! Quite frankly, who cares what the NY Slime publishes. Those that read it don’t have any critical thinking skills to begin with and those that don’t read it are saddened by it all. Q’s theories have more kernels of truth than anything published by the NY Slime.

2smartforlibs | May 26, 2020 at 9:59 am

conspiracy theories are all the knuckle draggers have. You cant get them off it even with facts.

OwenKellogg-Engineer | May 26, 2020 at 10:04 am

And this explains the big push for “mail in ballots” to everyone. Sow chaos among the electorate, and declare the Electoral College a relic of history. Add in early voting, and now you know how many ballots to mail in for the win on election day. I say do away with early voting, make it a national holiday, and dip your finger in indelible ink after voting so you can’t vote twice.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to OwenKellogg-Engineer. | May 26, 2020 at 10:25 am

That is exactly why so many people are not requesting early mail-in ballots, because they know the Democrats just use the count then to figure out how many fake votes they have to create to cheat.

buckeyeminuteman | May 26, 2020 at 10:09 am

Good one…but it’s the Democrats who are trying to keep polling places from opening.

Why not, it fits the cornerstone of democrat talking points on why you must elect them; fear.

inspectorudy | May 26, 2020 at 10:42 am

If I’m not mistaken, I believe they have said this about every Republican POTUS since Reagan. You can tell they are getting worried when they drag out this tired old myth. Next, Biden will use his “Put y’all back in chains” meme again.

FFS, how about the one where Trump wins the popular vote AND the electoral votes and BIDEN refuses to accept the results? That’s a much more likely scenario.

CorkyAgain in reply to UJ. | May 26, 2020 at 1:23 pm

Especially likely, given how voters in many blue and battleground states should be alienated by the prolonged totalitarian lockdown their Democrat governors and mayors are insisting upon.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why they think their plan to wreck the economy will win them votes.

I’ve heard it characterized as this being the opportunity for blue state governors to absolutely drive those states into the ground – setting themselves up for the need for the Feds to bail them out. That allows for a lot more people to bitch about Trump and all the blue state people in pain (self-inflicted) to the media for a period of time that brings us closer to November. I am convinced that the Dems would gladly sacrifice the long-term well being of both this country and its citizens if it gave them even 1% more power. But, hey, that’s just me and what I’ve observed over the last 35 years.

And Republicans still insist that COVID-19 is “the flu” that will magically disappear in the summer sun, and that their “constitutional rights” are being violated by being forced to wear a mask on other peoples’ property.

So, yeah.

Still waiting for the NYSlimes to accept that Trump won 2016

This is a strange tactic. I can’t see how it can help the D’rats. If anything, it might scare some of the dumber D’rat voters into thinking that that nefarious DJT will find some underhanded way to disqualify novelty votes, such as mail-in ballots. And if they start fretting about that they’re likely to hold off on the new-fangled stuff and just trudge in to vote in person on election day, same as always. And that will give the D’rats fewer opportunities to pervert the vote in sneaky new ways. All very odd.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to tom_swift. | May 26, 2020 at 11:48 am

The Desperate Left doesn’t understand their lies are supressing their voters.

Their snowflake voters will just throw up their hands exclaiming why vote at all then.

NYT is forward-looking.

Kicking off the narrative as they prepare to steal the election by mandatory cheat-by-mail. Another gaslight operation. First you conspire to commit a crime then you gaslight for the eventual discovery and ensuing charges of conspiracy. “We knew these conspiracy theorists would do this!”

We really need to start using the term “gaslight” as a standard practice in order to educate people. There ARE conspiracies and we need to destroy the tactic of discrediting those who know it by calling them “conspiracy theorists”. How can we ever hope to crush conspiracies if the crime is uncovering them in the first place?

CorkyAgain in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 26, 2020 at 1:32 pm

I think you could be onto something here, Phil. They’re setting the frame for how they will spin the news when evidence of their cheating inevitably comes out.

Looks like Mark Warner has issues with transparency, Catherine Herridge posted Rick Grenell’s letter to Warner on twitter
https://twitter.com/CBS_Herridge/status/1265278531069599746

“After Mr. Biden wins a narrow Electoral College victory, Mr. Trump refuses to accept the results, won’t leave the White House and declines to allow the Biden transition team customary access to agencies before the Jan. 20 inauguration.”

I thought the Electoral College is an outdated anti-democratic relic of AmeriKKKa’s white supremacist pass.

Maybe this is like how #BelieveAllWomen suddenly became #WomenWhoAccuseDemocratsAreRacistHomophobicLiarsAndShouldBeGratefulTheyWereRapedBecauseAbortionIsSacred.

The left always project, don’t they.

Katy L. Stamper | May 26, 2020 at 12:18 pm

Trump, and especially his voters, deserve him to be given a Mulligan for his first term since Dementia Man and His Boss threw the wrench in the first one.

Yeah, I’ll take that second term. The Kenyan eradicates norms and traditions of peaceful transfer of power, I’ll take that one.

So much worse than Watergate.

johnnycab23513 | May 26, 2020 at 12:35 pm

Hillary, the most crooked candidate to ever run for President, still argues that it is everyone else’s fault the lost. Obama, most likely not even a citizen of the United States of America, still travels the world pretending he has any of the status he had when he held the office; to the extent he sends equally clueless former members of his criminal enterprise like the traitor John Kerry on “missions” to foreign nations in violation of various laws!

clayusmcret | May 26, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Are they talking about the same way that democrats have yet to accept the 2016 election results?

Edward in reply to clayusmcret. | May 26, 2020 at 4:16 pm

Well, they had the same rumor published a few months before November 2016, only difference is then Hillary was winning (not by a small margin) and Donald J. was refusing to accept defeat.

mrzee in reply to clayusmcret. | May 26, 2020 at 7:42 pm

A lot of them still think Al Gore won in 2000.

Wait…..I thought they said Trump didn’t want the job anyway.

inspectorudy | May 26, 2020 at 2:34 pm

The really good news is that VP candidate Stacey Abrams has offered to step down as governor of GA if she is selected by Joe Fingers Biden to be his running mate.

Edward in reply to inspectorudy. | May 26, 2020 at 4:14 pm

You mean the news I read that she had her “Stacey Abrams, Vice President of the United States” business cards printed was fake news?

Sure fooled me, it fit so well with what we know about her.

iconotastic | May 26, 2020 at 4:13 pm

Here is an interesting scenario. Joe Biden wins but enough electors decide that casting their vote for an obviously demented senior is the kind of situation predicted by Alexander Hamilton and choose to cast their votes for Trump. Highly improbable but it would make for a
great plot device.

Huddled under a blanket covered card table in their mom’s basement, A group of worst-case scenario planners — mostly Democrats, but also some anti-Trump Republicans — have been gaming out how to respond to various doomsday options for the 2020 presidential election.

Does the election get a do-over if Sleepy Joe forgets what day it is scheduled for and where he is registered to vote?

Barry Soetoro | May 26, 2020 at 5:02 pm

Social justice warriors always project.

“After Mr. Biden wins a narrow Electoral College victory, Mr. Trump refuses to accept the results, won’t leave the White House and declines to allow the Biden transition team customary access to agencies before the Jan. 20 inauguration.”

Um, if we’re talking about before Jan 20, it is not customary for the president to leave the White House before that date, so how would he have any occasion to refuse? And once noon on the 20th arrived he would no longer be president and would have no choice about leaving; if he refused to leave the Secret Service would evict him.

    ss396 in reply to Milhouse. | May 27, 2020 at 10:05 am

I find it weird that they threw that one in, particularly since we’ve learned how the Obama gang discussed not sharing all intelligence they had with the President elect, and held back on informing him of major items in their Russian collusion enterprise.

Lost me at “The NY Times…”

Honestly, I don’t even pay attention to them anymore.

It’s a great tragedy what they’ve done to journalism and our country.

It’s the New York Times who won’t accept the results of the 2020 election.

As they didn’t accept the results of the 2016 election.

following the lead of left…. this has been dedunked.

Considering:
– the Dem push for mail-in ballots;
– the Dem attempts to push the Wisconsin primary voting beyond the election date due to the mail-in ballots;
– the Dem States which have delayed their primaries all because of the WuFlu;
– the predicted reemergence of the WuFlu this fall…

…is any Democrat willing to commit that the November election will happen as it’s supposed to? Or will it “need to be extended because Reasons”?

I get the NYT Daily Briefing to my Inbox. A couple weeks ago they changed the editor in charge of it and – holy moly – has it ever taken a hard left turn! It was bad enough before; I’m not sure how much longer I can stomach it.

henrybowman | May 27, 2020 at 9:30 pm

I can guarantee you this won’t be an issue. Putin has already assured that a Trump victory in November is in the bag, so there will be no reason for Trump not to accept the election results!
