Will Joe Biden actually be the Democratic nominee? (Reader Poll)

Will Joe Biden actually be the Democratic nominee? (Reader Poll)

Bernie couldn’t win the nomination in contested primaries, but has set himself up as the only alternative to Biden should Biden’s very public and sad ‘cognitive decline’ make him nonviable.

https://twitter.com/haydentank/status/1242598627328937984

With Bernie suspending his campaign today, it might seem self-evident that Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee.

But while Bernie is suspending his campaign, he’s going to remain on future state ballots and continue to accumulate delegates. That might seem contradictory, but it’s not if you consider Joe Biden’s very public and sad ‘cognitive decline.’

So here’s the possible Bernie strategy: He can’t win the nomination in contested primaries, but he can set himself up as the only alternative to Biden based on Bernie’s substantial delegate count and primary votes, should Biden falter.

I don’t think it is out of the question that Biden may not make it. That is plainly obvious to any honest person, and there are plenty of Democrats who are honest about that. If Biden becomes nonviable, there will be Bernie, hanging around with his hundreds of delegates and impressive primary vote count. Any attempt to parachute in someone else will create a Berner riot.

So the reader polls is simple: Will Joe Biden actually be the Democratic nominee?

At some point there will be a knock at Joe’s door. Joe will announce that due to “medical reasons” he cannot be the nominee. If he doesn’t there is always that pesky pillow.

Neo – Tom Eagleton!! An obscure name from the past! We must be the same age. Clueless Joe is way past Tom Eagleton in terms of mental unfitness.

I’m talking about the process of the Democratic Mini-Convention to replace him.
The process, as much as anything else, doomed McGovern.

The Sanders supporters will go nuclear when the Democrats replace Biden with someone like Cuomo.

Off italics!

So much for turning the italics off…

Biden may not live to the convention. Natural or unnatural causes are likely to get him.

That’s a very plausible analysis of the situation. Bernie also gets to attempt to eliminate/erode future support from his supporters to Elizabeth Warren, due to her refusal to endorse Bernie when she dropped out.

Obviously there’s a problem (italics) with the comments. The comments section is also still headed with “No reactions for this post (yet)” even though several comments are already posted. (This remains so after re-loading the page.
Web master take note!

/i

Perhaps he’ll stay in long enough for the “Virtual Convention” to nominate him, and a VP candidate.

Then when he withdraws for health reasons, there will be a clear non-Bernie successor.

Normally, it would take more cynicism than I’m able to imagine a future where the Dems nominate Biden/Warren, then on the campaign trail as the election is nearly complete, for Biden to have a health issue and drop out, making a plea from his sickbed as he breathes his last, imploring the voters to turn out and win one for the gipper.

In a normal year, that would be fantasy. This is not a normal year. I can see them pulling the same muck that got Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan elected as Senator.

Corona-virus complications could get either one or both.
The Democrat machine will never let Bernie get the nod. Biden has months to survive the new plague before they have to take desperate measures.
The real question is, who?

testing…

That Biden is still in the race says something about the Dems that ought be eye-opening to anyone considering a vote for any candidate they run for POTUS … specifically – they’re really only interested in filling the seat and come November may well be running Biden who is “lights on but nobody is home”

It’s never been about the candidate as much as it’s been about someone the party can control. It brings to mind Pelosi’s remark that an Eggplant could run in AOC’s district and win if there were a (D) after it’s name.

Observing Obama I sometimes thought he seemed indifferent or emotionally checked out and wondered if he was signaling his contempt for the the office or his handlers – like a pouty or sullen child that didn’t get his way – which also implies he was made to do / say something he didn’t want to do / say.

As many people as would vote for Biden (empty suit) suggests that the constituents feel the same way – filling the slot with an electable (D) is more important than the man – because the party controls the position.

And therein lies their rub with Trump … not only is he not a (D), he’s his own man and not the least bit shy about telling them to stuff it. They had some influence on POTUS even when a RINO or globalist … not Trump.

It must suck to be a Dem. 😉

“Ask yourself, is Joe Biden ready to lead this country? Could he find his car in a three-tiered parking garage? Could he navigate a salad bar? And by the way, what exactly is his position on the Coronavirus pandemic? Those are the mysteries Democrats now face.”

Dems could have had some influence if they had played their cards right after the election. The problem is they continued to pull one dirty unethical trick after the election.

Mission accomplished: Bernie is out of the way. So now the DNC can begin their king-making. With the sexual assault accusation, and with a soon to be diagnosis of Alzheimer or other disorder, he will back out and endorse * : * one white male as President, who will select one black female as vice president.

I have a wager, with a 21 year old single malt Scotch on the line, that come November 2020 neither VP Biden or Senator Sanders will be the DNC candidate.

What a bunch of cynics you all are.

How will democrats steer their party past the Biden Paradox?

I’d guess whatever the solution is will be unconventional and highly exconstitutional.

Every scenario possible. They’ve gamed it all out.

And nearly every republican will react like a herd of deer in a Texas spotlighting hunt.

Of course Traitor Joe won’t be the candidate.

In a time before the Internet, biden being the candidate might have been an option. But no more.

That said: the GOP is headed by people either completely corrupt, or completely talentless – or any combination thereof. It’s a dead party, other than a temporary voting bloc for PDJT. They’d sell is out in a second.

Don’t give a DIME to the GOP – steer it to the likes of PDJT, Tom Cotton, Jim Jordan, etc.

Joe Biden will violate his pledge to appoint a female as VP candidate and appoint none other than Barack Hussein Obama. This would be entirely constitutional. After an appropriate period of observing President Biden not knowing his own name, say a few weeks, the 25th Amendment will be implemented and B. Hussein Obama will be President again, for one term.

bernie is keeping his delegates and trying to gain more. Why? That is a rhetorical question. He has entered stealth campaign mode for a power play at the convention. But what’s his endgame? C’mon bernie bros, get out of your Stockholm Syndrome, can’t you see what’s coming? Regarding biden, it’s doubtful he ever emerges from his basement. He’s going to be the old, senile tomato soup eating version of Max Headroom.

Sanders is staying in for (1) his ego, and (2) to get money for another house, like he did in 2016 when he sold himself to hillary clinton.

The only saving grace in that event was that clinton wasted her money.

But then, she stole it from us anyway. So WE bought sanders his fourth house.

Frezz in the hizzy | April 8, 2020 at 8:53 pm

Someone else said it… odd how B. Hussein hasn’t endorsed his old buddy Joe, isn’t it? It was surely hoped by the dems that Biden would be the standard bearer, but now they see how they’re on the edge of their seats, like watching Evil Knievel jump Snake Canyon, every time he tries to string a few simple ideas sentences together. He can’t cut the mustard and everyone knows it.

Add to that that B. Hussein surely loves being the puppet-master behind everything. Turns out the secret back-room deals are making a comeback.

Joe will absolutely not make it to the convention. He will bow out due to an unnamed medical condition, and Cuomo/Bloomberg will rise from the mist. You heard it from Frezza first!!

Either Cuomo or Bloomberg would have to take up residence in another State.

I say it depends on the Democratic Party Rules.
Does the convention vetted vice presidential candidate become the presidential candidate if Biden drops out? Does the Party choose another Presidential candidate keeping the convention VP candidate? Does the Party choose replacements for both (as VP was Biden’s choice)? Does it make a difference if Biden dies, is medically withdrawn, or drops out “willingly”?

Subotai Bahadur in reply to jhn1. | April 9, 2020 at 3:48 pm

What are these “Democrat Party Rules” of which you speak? Neither laws nor the Constitution apply to them in their own view. The closest thing they have to a rule is “Leave the gun and take the cannoli.”

On PredicIt, a $1.00 contract that Slow Joe will NOT be the nominee costs $0.14.

Biden will be the nominee, but his running mate will be The Masked Singer.

I am not persuaded that he will even live until November. There appears to be something very wrong with him, beyond just early enfeeblement.

To my view, Biden will not be on the November ballot. Admittedly, I would enjoy seeing Trump drag Hillary through it, one more time.

Cuomo made many, many, many enemies while he was AG for NY. If he slithers in, I expect to see him ruined, permanently. He is so desperate now that he is even trying to cash-in on the drowning death of a distant Kennedy relationship from his defiled marriage to one of the dullest Kennedys to not stain Ethel’s bed.

One of my newspaper box signs “I am Joe Biden and I have forgotten the message” caused a woman to stop and shoot a pic with her cell phone. We know he is mentally unfit and the main task is to see the seeds of doubt early because they are planning a last minute switcheroo and if the switcheroo has to happen early, possibly even before the convention, then they will then leave the next victim out it the wind where lots of damage can happen between then and the election. At some point the supply of last minute candidates will dry up.

stevewhitemd | April 8, 2020 at 10:21 pm

Let’s see if I turned the italics off.

More than the China Virus, more than the 2020 election, more than the fact AG Barr has turned out to be a rat:

why is the in the comment section suddenly italic?

Italics on/off.

I actually feel sorry for Biden as I am sure he suffers from dementia and how any so called loving wife would not stand up to prevent him being made to publicly humiliate himself beats me.
Its so cruel and as an outsider I would say that the demorats are using him so they can parachute someone like the obama wonder whatever or even billary in, at the last minute.
President Trump would decimate Biden but I believe that he has a very caring and soft side to him and wouldn’t be happy to go in too hard.

I think Biden will choose a VP running mate very soon, now that Sanders has dropped out, who will take over whether or not Biden actually runs. Then Biden steps down, the VP candidate becomes the presidential candidate and then chooses another VP candidate.

Glenn Jordan in reply to Sally MJ. | April 12, 2020 at 12:19 pm

You bring up an interesting scenario. If Biden makes a popular VP pick, it may reassure many shaky Dems. On the other hand, the pick will not be official, which leaves the door open for Bernie and his supporters to stake a claim for the nomination. However, Bernie likely doesn’t possess the moxie to take up the fight. This will be a very unique presidential campaign.

Glenn Jordan in reply to Sally MJ. | April 12, 2020 at 12:31 pm

Democrats are in a tough spot. The presumptive nominee is well past his prime and certainly doesn’t look to have the stamina or mental acuity to take on the job. To make Biden a viable alternative to Trump, a lot of Americans will have to suffer calamity between now and November. No one should hope for that.

I don’t think they will replace Biden unless there is an actual health emergency. I still think the Democrats hope Biden gives them enough down-ticket strength to hold onto the House and maybe pick up some governorships and statehouses. If the Trump administration badly mishandles the return from lockdown, the Democrats will look for a way to drag Joe over the finish line, while ignoring all his feebleness and weakness as a candidate.

Not with those Tara Reade sexual assault allegations, he won’t. Megyn Kelly Tweeted about it tonight: https://twitter.com/megynkelly/status/1248059849302134785?s=20 My sources say that Reade has already been interviewed by the New York Times for a story.

Biden is a dead man walking. He’s not going to be the nominee. Democrats are many things, but even they aren’t that dumb.

TheOldZombie | April 9, 2020 at 12:17 am

I’d be stunned if Joe Biden makes to the general election. It would be practically an admission by the Democratic Party that they wrote off 2020 and just surrendered the next four years to Trump.

I just can’t see it happening.

No. There’s a fair chance they’ll actually nominate Biden, but my gut tells me odds are they will actually nominate someone else.

BUT, that “someone else” will not be Bernie.

D’s convention could turn out to be the most interesting in decades – for either Party.

My bet is the DNC forces Biden out and chooses a 2-female, both non-white if possible, P/VP pair.

Do I vote for the result I prefer or what would be best for our country? Tough decision.

Slow Joe; you’re fired!

No.
There will be a brokered Convention.
It will probably be Newsome, but Cuomo is very possible.

smalltownoklahoman | April 9, 2020 at 6:43 am

There is a real possibility Joe may not last, yes. I am dubious however that the nomination will go to Bernie should that happen though. A lot of the higher ups in the Dem party don’t want him despite his numbers and I don’t doubt they’re working hard on coming up with a viable alternative.

The Dems cannot win in November at the ballot box so I am expecting that they will do anything to either rig the vote or suspend the election due to something like the Wuhan virus.

There sure seems to be a lot of international coordination and dirty money to get this done. There are fewer and fewer voters left who don’t understand that the Dem Party is an enemy collaborator. We are living through an attempted communist takeover. Sure, call me a conspiracy “theorist”. At this point, it’s a conspiracy fact.

I wonder if the FBI is looking at this …

In the early hours of Monday morning, Joe Biden’s campaign sent an email to state leaders offering to connect them with desperately needed coronavirus resources.
In the email obtained by The Post, Biden’s political chief of staff Stacy Eichner told state officials that the former veep’s presidential campaign had received a “significant number of offers” from organizations and people eager to offer resources.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/04/08/nolte-biden-cronies-accused-of-withholding-coronavirus-resources-for-political-purposes/

… connected ? …

Ellwood City Medical Center in Pennsylvania, which is currently controlled by a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, was one of a string of rural hospitals owned by and driven into financial ruin by Americore Health, a business venture linked to James Biden.

Were the democrats hoping for a brokered convention? Now they face the daunting task of getting rid of Joe.

Anyone remember Eagleton?

Warren for VP probably doesn’t work for Bernie Bros.

The optics are bad no matter which way you look.

If Obama doesn’t endorse soon, then something is extremely strange. People keep saying Joe won’t be the nominee….I heard the same stuff about Trump 4 years ago….he was going to be sabotaged by the RNC elites, etc. Now I hear the same stuff about the Dems. As long as Obama endorses, then he will definitely be the nominee….just no way the party elites would go against Obama. But if there is no Obama endorsement, then there must be a “fix in” , and it’ll be utter chaos. As much as I hope for utter chaos for the Dems, this is probably just some pipe dream…a hallucination in my head that is really a product of irrational thinking coupled with fantasy.

“If Biden becomes nonviable, there will be Bernie, hanging around with his hundreds of delegates and impressive primary vote count. Any attempt to parachute in someone else will create a Berner riot.”

Perhaps this is already a done deal. Notice Bernie dropped out several days after news broke that 15% of his supporters would vote for Trump over Biden. I can hear the backroom deal now, Bernie if you drop out now, the party can rally around Joe, then in a few months Joe has an accident, and you step in as the reluctant candidate.

C’mon, everyone knows they’re going to nominate Bill and Opus. They’ve been running for decades and know that now is their chance!

Joe’s is already out, he just doesn’t know it yet.

Biden will be the nominee, but beware the veep. She will be president within the first year should he actually win.
Imagine Stacey Abrams as POTUS…

This virus is now a Deus ex machina. The left will use it to get rid of inconvenient people worldwide.

Joe will get the nomination, and soon after step down due to Alzheimers, and his wife, Jill, will step in and run in his place, with Kamela as her running mate.

Let us not forget that O’Biden did spare us from Warren. This may be his single greatest life accomplishment. That along with the videos of him laughing like a rabid hyena.

Joe has to run to avoid prosecution…

I expect Biden to be the nominee with Kamala Harris as his VP–then he’ll either have to bow out, or if he is, God forbid, elected, then he steps down and she becomes president by default.

The feminists will not go after Joe for groping or harrassment. Period. They gave Bill Clinton a pass; they’ll give Biden one, too. If Buttigieg proved to be a pederast, he’d also be covered for by the Democratic Party and its slavish media.

Biden as a candidate reminds me of Bob Dole as a candidate.

I am NOT saying that Bob Dole was senile. Nothing like that.

I just remember the time that election was ongoing and constantly asking myself the question:
“Bob Dole….WHY?”

Brave man. Good senator. As a president, I just felt MEH.

Same with used car salesman Biden. He wouldn’t accomplish anything of substance (in keeping with his 40 year record), but he would slap a lotta backs and sniff a LOT of hair.

I would feel this way about Biden even if he wasn’t senile.

In other words, MEH.

The Swamp is just “Biden its time” until they are through vetting Biden’s running mate, and then the running mate’s running mate. Have to agree with a number of comments that while Biden may make it to the nomination, something conveniently will happen to him. Either he doesn’t take his meds, and then makes a gaffe showing the full onset of Alzheimers, that no one in the media will be able to spin away, or he suffers a debilitating illness that forces him to relinquish the nomination. And it won’t be to Bernie. The Swamp will handpick two people they can control or who are already part of the Swamp. Amazing how Michelle Obama is coming out of hibernation. H’mmm???
