Trump Responds to Nancy Pelosi’s New Investigative Committee: “Here We Go Again”
“I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations.”
Nancy Pelosi has formed a new committee to investigate Trump’s handling of the Coronavirus crisis. Even in the midst of a pandemic which is affecting millions of Americans, Democrats are incapable of offering anything but their hatred of Trump.
Trump gave a perfect response yesterday.

President Trump, speaking at the White House coronavirus briefing on Thursday, unloaded on Democrats who have created a new House committee with subpoena authority to investigate the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Also during the press conference, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced that the first round of stimulus checks will be directly deposited into Americans’ bank accounts in the next two weeks. And, Trump revealed he had again tested negative for coronavirus.
“We have seen Americans unite with incredible selflessness and compassion,” Trump began. “I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations. Here we go again. They’ve already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years.”…
“It’s witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunt,” Trump continued. “And in the end it’s people doing the witch hunt who are losing — and they’ve been losing by a lot. And it’s not any time for witch hunts.”

I fully expect this kind of warped behavior of Pelosi. What I find really sad is that of all those Democrats in the House there aren’t at least a dozen or two who have a conscience and the courage to stand up and say enough is enough and even if, this is not the time for this. It is just amazing to me how so many so-called educated adults who consider themselves successful allow themselves to be led around like puppies on a leash.

Guys, y’all need to look at this move by Speaker Pelosi as an opportunity. WTF you say?
1. PDJT should work with McConnell and Pelosi, to the extent that is possible, to create a team of folks similar to the 9/11 commission. The mandate should be to evaluate levels of preparation and response following the FEMA model; local government implementation, state directed and federally supported.
2. Review the methodology of the modeling and what can be done to create better input data vs the initial poor data inputs.
3. Review the information available and or not available or concealed (China) and it’s impact to include shortcomings at WHO.
4. Review actions being taken in real time, chronologically at local, state federal executive branch and in HoR and Senate on a day by day basis from the first data from Wuhan in December.
5. Absolutely refuse to accept any other oversight related to the relief packages other than from the body specifically created in the enabling legislation.
What this proposal does is put Pelosi into a corner. She can run an independent HoR committee that will be viewed as a partisan political activity
OR
She can join in a nonpartisan, bicameral process of appointing an independent group of former Senator and Representatives and appropriate individuals with expertise such as epidemiology, logistics, Emergency Planning, former Governor etc. This body would be, in essence, writing the AAR and then after the moment has passed, getting input from those persons elected and appointed who are currently engaged in suppressing and managing the crisis, ultimately concluding in a 9/11 commission style report and set of recommendations.
Of course, Speaker Pelosi will choose to run her own HoR committee. So, even better, the proposed committee will be formed by the input of the Senate and the executive branch without HoR input. That doesn’t mean excluding d, it means appointing d, r, l, I who can actually be objective and nonpartisan. There is a large and crucial difference between bipartisan and nonpartisan. This difference should be pointed out unit even the thickest of skulls can absorb it.
You vastly underestimate the thickness of the Washington skull, and the ability of the Dems to simply lie straight to the media and have their water carried wherever they want.
The House will set up their third major impeachment attempt (Russian collusion, uncovering Biden’s bribes, Wuhan virus) without Republican input, pretend to be neutral, and proceed to nitpick and whine about every problem and imagined fault straight through the election and into his second term. The Senate has the opportunity to create a useful and meaningful team as you described, but do not underestimate the ability of a Flake or Romney to switch sides and fling the whole bipartisanship bit into the ditch.

Not underestimating at all. Simply advocating for repeated strikes with a heavy hammer. Utilization of anvil and or wedge may be required.
As to composition of proposed commission; nominations would come from President, Majority LDR and if she plays nicely Speaker of HoR. Playing nicely defined as not trying to kneecap the folks in the administration by the creation of a partisan panel of sitting HoR members.
Sounds nice, except that the 9/11 commission was a bipartisan partisan political exercise (i.e. both parties were playing politics) whose report got a lot of publicity but was completely ignored by policymakers. Let’s not do that again.

Point granted regarding 9/11 being partisan. In attempting to find an analogous panel with which folks might be familiar I choose it over Bowles-Simpson.
Still, this proposal would achieve it’s primary purpose; to create a panel which works in a nonpartisan manner to ferret out the relevant facts based upon a definitive criteria, assesses performance and produces recommendations for improvement. In other words using the military After Action Review; AAR process. Not to pin blame, but to see what went wrong and what went right and suggesting improvements.
Not that some folks won’t let their feelings get hurt, but the goal of an AAR is to identify failures in both decisions and in the constraints leading to those decisions. In other words to help everyone understand the systemic failures and individual failures as well as the systemic and individual successes. Then adopt the best practices as the SOP / doctrine template for the next iteration.
Check most of this is easy and not controversial. For example, get the FDA out of the way so distillery and ethanol producers can manufacture freaking hand sanitizer to an approved formulary.
In any case the design of the goals and parameters of the panel is more important than the composition. If the rules and procedures are structured properly a nonpartisan result is attainable.

Ding Dong Nancy Pelosi and Little Pencil Neck Adam Schiff want to set up for a second impeachment. It’s a good thing Trump will accommodate them by being re-elected. That’ll give Nancy and The Schiffter time to get their ducks in a row. Trump will go for the record with a second impeachment—which will wind up like the first.
But if you had some serious clear eyed non partisan folks working on an “after action review” of the corona virus and the state of our preparations for such—and how we responded, it would be a good thing. But clear eyed non partisan Democrats in the Pelosi House are as rare as unicorns.
And there are things you can point fingers at; California had an emergency medical supply system installed in 2006 or 2007 by Governor Schwarzenegger when the state feared an earlier Chinese acute respiratory syndrome. A few years later Governor Jerry Brown got rid of it in a fiscal austerity move.
The US had a national emergency medical supply which Obama and Biden depleted in the Hong Kong flu year–and never refilled. They also cut funding for the Centers for Disease Control.
The country can and should refill these stocks and see that appropriate levels are maintained in future. That said, who can predict exactly what the next crisis will be? Can one state with any confidence exactly what needs to be done to be prepared?
Cutting our pharmaceutical dependence upon China is one thing that should be done in any case.
Every day is another stupid day with Pelosi and her choir of eunuchs and camp followers. I think she has a serious case of attention deficit disorder coupled with compulsive/obsessive disorder.
Trump should simply ignore her, for the duration, until Congress gets a hint and finds someone who is capable of conducting the House of Representatives in a responsible and orderly body.
