Not Funny: Nancy Pelosi caused a week delay in funding the Paycheck Protection Program

The PPP has been out of money since last Thursday, with expanded funding stalled by Pelosi’s demands for unrelated spending. Assuming a deal is reached this week, a week will have been lost. To a business about to go under, a week is a lifetime. Only someone completely out of touch like Pelosi could fail to understand that.

Last Thursday, the Paycheck Protection Program ran out of funding authorization, and the SBA stopped accepting new loan applications. That halt came because for several days prior to last Thursday, continuing through today, Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi refused a Republican request for an additional $250 in funding.

As we have explained several times, instead Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer demanded an additional $250 billion in unrelated funding. No additional unrelated funding, not expansion of the PPP.

Instead, Pelosi seemed to mock the suffering of tens of millions of people by appearing on the Late Late Show showing off her very expensive kitchen and ice cream cache.

It appear that finally PPP will be expanded, but only because Republicans agreed to a portion (not all) of the additional funding Pelosi wanted. That funding, for hospitals and testing, was not controversial, but Pelosi’s other objectives, such as unrestricted aid to states to help mostly Democratic states dig out of union pension problems.

Fox News reports tonight:

Negotiators from the House, Senate and White House are close to finalizing an accord on the so-called “phase 3.5” response to the coronavirus pandemic and hope to have an agreement late Monday or Tuesday, Fox News is told.

The response will include $310 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which offers grants to small businesses struggling to make payroll, sources tell Fox News. The $350 billion fund depleted last Thursday.

A separate provision worth $60 billion (including $50 billion in loans and $10 billion in grants) would be allocated to economic disaster loans. Also included: $75 billion for hospitals and $25 billion for coronavirus testing. The total of the package would be north of $470 billion….

Speaking on the Senate floor, McConell criticized Democrats for delaying action on replenishing the PPP. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., justified the delay on Sunday by saying she wanted more funding for testing and hospitals — uncontroversial demands that even left-of-center commentators have pointed out that Republicans never opposed.

“It’s now been four days since the Paycheck Protection Program ran out of money. Republicans have been trying to secure more funding for this critical program for a week and a half now,” McConnell said. “At this hour, our Democratic colleagues are still prolonging their discussions with the administration, so the Senate, regretfully, will not be able to pass more funding for Americans’ paychecks today.”

Assuming this deal happens, and a bill is passed on Wednesday or Thursday this week, almost an entire week of PPP funding progress will have been lost. That a week in which pending loans, some of which have been sitting at banks since early April, will not be processed and funded, and another week before new applications could be filed.

To a business about to go under, a week is a lifetime. Only someone completely out of touch like Pelosi could fail to understand that.

A Bloomberg reporter summed up on April 16 how dire the situation was:

“I’m having a tough night. Hearing from small business owners who didn’t get PPP and who aren’t going to make it, it’s just brutal.”

Trump’s campaign just released a video about Pelosi. It’s brutal, but not brutal enough. Brad Parscale tweeted:

Americans are losing their jobs since the virus rocked the economy.

Nancy Pelosi blocks funding for people to keep getting paychecks.

But she’s got a $24K fridge full of ice cream, so she’s cool.

Give that wicked woman nothing. Let her own the harm she has created, it is part and parcel of her legacy.

Make it a straight bill, nothing more, just funding for one specific purpose.

Then, open the phone lines for Americans to express their thoughts about Pelosi.

Want to raise some revenue for news papers? Run a petition and let Americans pay $1 just to see Pelosi expelled from Congress.

Career politicians like Nancy are about the best argument possible for term limits for both houses of Congress. Failing that, maybe force them out every few terms and make them work in the private sector for a while before they can run again. Would need some anti-corruption stipulations though, such as no going to work for major campaign contributors for starters. And no cushy little do nothing but it looks good on the paperwork stuff either, I want them to actually be working!

Limit them all to one term. Then prohibit them from working for any government agency or any entity that has any dealings whatsoever even removed to the fifth degree with government agencies. Senate terms should also be reduced to about three years.

There absolutely should be term limits BUT think 1 term is unworkable because of the constant turn over and bringing new people in to have to literally reinvent the wheel before being put out to pasture at the end of the term. BUT something has to change as you cant keep having these 40 year lifers doing nothing in office through their entire careers.

Pelousy isn’t dong nothing, she is doing her best to wreck the country in hopes of getting rid of the President come next January 20th. To the despicable Socialist-Democrats (OK, that term applies to [most?] all of them) like Pelousy and Schmeckel Schumer gaining advantage for their brand of politics trumps everything, particularly honesty, the good of the country and its citizens.

Put Nazi Pelosi to work on a chain gang.

Nancy Antoinette.

“…such as unrestricted aid to states to help mostly Democratic states dig out of union pension problems.”

Well, well, well…this has been an elephant in the room for some time now, and will certainly be for decades to come (unless states can go bankrupt).

And she’s still screwing you for another 10 days

My next broken record….the advertisements write themselves….

Why the hell don’t rich people know how to eat ice cream? Between her and Bloomberg I feel someone should step in and give them lessons.

Seriously, this woman should pay for all the damage she has caused over the years. I don’t know how she should pay, or how much she should pay, but she most definitely should pay. Until it hurts, and then some.

November elections are going to be interesting. If I identify as a someone from her district could I get some those mail in ballots the Speaker wants to hand out? (Sarcasm)

Pelosi isn’t about to do anything to help America. She’s totally bought and paid for by china.

Well, if you’re “leverage”(*) to enact their priorities, you aren’t the priority, are you? Good to know.

Meanwhile, holding up help for people as leverage is straight-out extortion. Nice life you had there. Would be a shame if anything happened to it.

(*) Term was used out loud by several of the Screaming D’s congresscritters about holding up the current “relief” bills.”

I do wonder whether enough people are connecting to dots to Flight 93 the upcoming election. And the one after that.

Schlichter cointed the aphorism: “They hate you and they want you dead.” Seems to be literally true — not only willing to kill people to hold their authoritah, but as long as it’s the right people, celebrating that they’ll die.

Twain wrote about “Unburlesqueable Things.” Net, when reality gets weird enough, you can’t do a burlesque of it any more.

We seem to have reached the zone of unPolemicable things. “They hate you and want you dead.” is *literally* true. What do you exaggerate after that?

So far, no small business has received any money. It all went to large companies, because the bank found some loopholes. So refunding it won’t make any difference to small companies if someone doesn’t put a shorter leash on the banks.

This is and isn’t off topic. Is there any way of not paying The salaries of all reps and senators? Some good ones would be caught in the mix, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.

“Top of the food-chain to you, my fellow Americans.”

Democrats really don’t want small business to survive. Big business hopped in bed with government a long time ago and showed their eagerness to comply with any level of government regulation and tax hikes as long as it made it more difficult for others to compete with them. Small businesses are much harder to control and are less likely to support being used to enact the agenda of the day.

This is what I’ve been saying for years: Ds don’t give a flying fig about “the little guy” because they heap regulation after regulation upon businesses, knowing full well that Big Biz can hire a phalanx of lawyers to deal with that crap; mom & pop stores can’t, and are crushed by both the multitude and the ridiculousness of these regulations.

The Ds are not merely evil, they are wicked.

And to think they claim the moral high ground and intellectual superiority that makes them think they are the superior leaders in this country.

She’s always been a little crazy, but age has to have caught up with her.

Plastic surgery hides her real age of 80. Her brain doesn’t. She really has gone a bit mad.

Anybody know which model Sub-Zeros those are? The low end estimate is $12,000 each without installation, high end is that’s $25K right there.
Now add the matching stove, double oven and stuff you’ve never thought of, it’s a $250,000 kitchen.

I really hate the PPP- it has one purpose: prop up underfunded state unemployment insurance funds.

Meanwhile the media is giving a complete pass to Inslee. Now it looks like most sole proprietors won’t see the UI money until early May, at which point they will have been shut down for nearly two months.

Virtually crickets from the media…. cuz nobody seems to get that THIS WAS ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO BE THE FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE STATE UI PROGRAMS IN THE EVENT OF THE DISASTER…but these retards don’t hire a developer to create the intake form until 3 weeks after the disaster strikes. That’s what 2 1/2 decades of dem control gets you.

The Dems keep adding barrels of napalm to their dumpster fire. At least Biden has been given the hook, exiting stage left.

Before they would bury their stupid, evil, and crazy beneath a facade of caring. Now the facade has fallen.

Those are Nancy’s 4.4 Million unemployed.

First and foremost, NOT ONE DIME for any state that stays closed.
Second, hospitals have at least had some patients as paying customers. Why should they be prioritized for special aid (not loans, but grants) and why should doctor groups not be? Maybe because doctors don’t vote Dem as a block?
