The Incredible Shrinking Joe Biden

The Incredible Shrinking Joe Biden

The sentiment gathering around Andrew Cuomo for President is a symptom of loss of confidence in Biden, who in recent livestreams and media appearances appears isolated, confused and feeble.

https://twitter.com/haydentank/status/1242598627328937984

Joe Biden is an irreparably damaged candidate.

He’s just not all there. Anyone who doesn’t see that is blind or wilfully blind. Or a Biden campaign consultant feeding at the trough.

Biden’s failings as a candidate is why the hashtag #PresidentCuomo was trending recently.

Anyone who is familiar with Andrew Cuomo knows how horrible a national candidate he would be. He will play well in liberal circles and big cities, but he’s been poison in much of the nation. His SAFE Act gun control legislation has led to a revolt by all but one upstate county and is deeply unpopular outside downstate. He banned fracking, allowing the Southern Tier of upstate New York to crumble while areas across the border in Pennsylvania to thrive. He forced through one of the most aggressive and abusive pro-abortion laws.

Cuomo’s recent notariety about the coronavirus pandemic has made him the new liberal McDreamy, but he is blamed for the 20,000 hospital bed decline in the state and failure to purchase 16,000 ventilators after being cautioned in 2015 that they might be needed in a future catastrophic pandemic.

So Andrew Cuomo, on his merits, would be a horrible national candidate, which probably is why he didn’t run for president, he knew he wouldn’t sell outside the most liberal circles.

Liberal Democrats are turning their lonely worried eyes to Andrew Cuomo not because of Andrew Cuomo, but because of Joe Biden.

You can feel the terror every time Biden steps in front of a microphone. Biden disappeared from the national scene as Trump dominated the airwaves and soared in the polls over his handling of the virus. When Biden reappeared, his livestreams and media appearances must be terrifying to anyone whose primary goal is defeating Donald Trump, because Biden presented as confused and feeble.

The sentiment gathering around Cuomo for President is the symptom of the incredible shrinking Joe Biden.

It might be too late for Democrats to replace Biden. But I think at this point, regardless of his delegate lead which makes him the assumed nominee, it at best is 50/50.

It’s why Bernie fights on, and Elizabeth Warren hasn’t endorsed anyone.

Well said. Joe is irreparable, alienating, dull and stuck on stupid. Just a place holder while the “powers that be” sort out who they want to run with.

No one is going to beat Trump in November. Cuomo is as ugly as they come, totally sinister looking, vicious, and horribly failed as a governor.

When he was a prosecutor, taking on Wall Street, he pissed off a lot of people with long memories.

At least Biden never bred himself to a Kennedy.

If so, look for an all out civil war in that party. Hopefully.

After all our nation has done for the world. Sure we have our warts but we strive to own up to and fix them. So when Andrew Cuomo said “America was never that great” I was disgusted that this Gov. would say such a thing.
I hope millions of other Americans remember that quote every time they see his conniving, deceitful mug on TV.

mailman in reply to JimWoo. | March 27, 2020 at 5:55 am

It is disgusting BUT you have to understand that to your average Democratic party member his words are eactly what they are all thinking.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to mailman. | March 27, 2020 at 5:27 pm

Their “average” isn’t even a legal citizen.

Time to ship Cuomo to the Communist Chinese.

I hear they have some interesting human farms……

All those dems and media who lined up behind Biden have a tough call to make, stay the course or cut bait.

    thetaqjr in reply to buck61. | March 27, 2020 at 4:07 am

Bad down vote, but if I’m not mistaken, cut bait does not mean ‘quit and get out of the boat.” it means help me, I fish better than you do, it means “Rest your pole, put me your half a worm onto my hook. I’ll bring him in for us.”

zennyfan in reply to thetaqjr. | March 27, 2020 at 10:39 am

Maybe that’s the original meaning, but like many things, its meaning has changed or it’s just incorrectly used 99% of the time. Begging the question, anyone? Besides, young Americans define everything in terms of what they think, so … .

Milhouse in reply to thetaqjr. | March 27, 2020 at 12:14 pm

Yes, “fish or cut bait” means “pitch in, do something, don’t just sit around being useless”, and it definitely does not mean “leave”. I have never before heard it used in such a way.

    Milhouse in reply to buck61. | March 27, 2020 at 12:17 pm

I think the phrase you were reaching for was “or cut their losses”.

Biden was the party leader’s ‘moderate’ get out of jail free card.

They expected ANYBODY to lose to Trump. Nobody with any actual understanding of his popularity believed that ANY of the Democrat candidates were going to beat him. That’s why they let the morons run their impeachment sideshow.

But the COULD NOT let their loss be a reflection on their leadership of the Party.

If they ran Bernie or Warren and their far left insanity, when they lost a whole bunch of people would rightly question their insane far-left politics and demand a change of both party leadership and political platform.

So they chose Biden, the alleged ‘moderate’. They EXPECTED him to lose, and they’d claim that he lost because he was ‘too moderate’, and that the only way to bring it back was to go FURTHER left.

They could not let their anticipated loss to Trump be a reflection on them, and Biden was their scapegoat.

cgg in reply to Olinser. | March 26, 2020 at 10:03 pm

Agreed. I don’t have to agree with his politics not to be disgusted with how he is being absolutely used. It is shameful, irresponsible and frankly borders on elder abuse.

artichoke in reply to cgg. | March 27, 2020 at 12:40 am

Oh please. I’ve had a parent fade into dementia, it’s as real as it gets. But elder abuse? Nobody’s forcing Joe to do this, at the least he’s being very well paid, or has been (look at all the $$$ that came to Hunter etc.)

Joe just wants to cause Trump trouble, to be another roadblock with his last few lucid moments. It’s his choice. He should be judged for it, not pitied for it.

Olinser in reply to artichoke. | March 27, 2020 at 12:51 am

Yes, I’ve also witnessed it. They’re using him for their ends, but don’t pretend Joe isn’t a willing participant.

One of the marked symptoms of dementia is an ADAMANT refusal to admit that they are declining.

It’s why old people driving is such a threat. They absolutely refuse to admit that they can’t handle it, and get ANGRY if you try to stop them.

If somebody tried to stop Joe’s campaign he’d do what he always does. Wag his finger in their face, call them names, and challenge them to a fight to prove he can do it.

Comanche Voter | March 26, 2020 at 10:15 pm

Joe Biden was never all that bright to begin with–76th out of 85 in a third tier law school. As Joe might say, come on man! A gladhanding not too bright pol from a small state–does not presidential timber make.

Joe is ten and a half months older than me–he’ll be a couple of weeks shy of his 78th birthday on election day this year. What his handlers are doing to him looks like elder abuse to me. They’ll prop him up like a cardboard figurehead and if (God forbid) he gets elected, a shadow cabinet behind him will run the puppet strings on the senile old geezer.

Instead of breaking the news to him that he’s been replaced, they can keep putting him in front of a camera every day. The red light goes on but there is no broadcast. He rambles for a few minutes, the red light goes out, dr. jill goes over to him, smiles, and tells him what a great job he’s doing. Seems a fitting end to a corrupt politicians career since he’ll likely never be charged with any of his crimes.

They have such a low bar.

Cuomo does a couple speeches, whines about not getting enough stuff for NY, and suddenly he’s the guy to swoon over.

They never wanted Biden. He was just a dull blunt tool to take out Bernie. Now his use is spent. Good job Joe.

I don’t feel pity for him. He’s an arrogant, smug, self-important, lying SOB. Deserves to be humiliated every day of the rest of his life.

Cuomo’s horrible resume goes back to his time at HUD. I can’t find details now, but I recall that he, Deval Patrick, or both, and I think it was both, defied the first amendment by threatening to use the Fair Housing Act against people who spoke out and organized politically to oppose housing in their neighborhood for people they didn’t like.

He’s horrible, worse than his father who was himself no prize.

But the bit about the 16,000 ventilators is not true. There was never any proposal that the state should buy 16,000 ventilators. Nobody ever brought it up to him and there was no reason it should ever have occurred to him to do so. One might as well blame Trump for not taking it into his head three years ago to buy 100,000 or a million of them, just in case they would ever be needed.

The document this whole thing is based on was not a memo to Cuomo, and there is no reason to suppose he ever read it, but all it said was that the state had enough ventilators for most foreseeable emergencies, but not for a 1918-style pandemic, so if that were ever to happen they’d have to have guidelines for allocating them. It doesn’t even seriously consider buying more; it just assumes that will not happen, but notes in passing that even if they were bought there wouldn’t be enough people trained to use them.

I don’t understand why you stay all tarred up in this briar patch. You receive more reds than XiPutin would deserve. I read your posts as unheated, clear, and designed to inform. I’m not sure why Professor Jacobson allows these ignorant, often racist comments to abide here. I just don’t know.

The writers are so good, so well informed, universally so, to my small mind and ego, yet the forum, as far as the comments are concerned, so dilute the effort to attain a high, conservative, functioning status, … well, I just don’t know.

I read here to improve my understanding. You help. Others help me do that. But so many comment amount to ought to propaganda.

      A couple points.

      1. The good points President Milhouse makes are undermined by the posts where he is nothing but an arsehole. When you rub people up the wrong way that stigma tends to stay with you.

      2. Fuck off with your bullshit Democrat liberal race card. You know you don’t actually have to read anything on this site right…be a good NPC and just fuck off elsewhere and let people capable of the critical act of being able to rub two or more brain cells to get on with the act of informing themselves from a wide range of sources.

The “arsehole” comment is the same argument people use against Mr. Trump. He makes great points, but he’s an arsehole. Is that how you categorize Mr. Trump?

I’ve never heard the phrase “rub people up”. What does it mean, and what is your source?

I don’t know what NPC represents. Give me a source.

You have a great chance her to do what you do better than I: tweeze a couple of brain cells and educate me.

I don’t want to read your inane comments once, much less twice. Your attempt to project an air of intellectual superiority belies your own bigotry and smug sense of self-importance that makes you exactly like the fringe commenters that you despise.

Considering the very low level of censorship on this site, anyone that can rub those brain cells together should consider themselves fortunate to have discourse without a curse battle or outright spam blasts. Of course, I don’t expect such revelations to ever dawn on a smug bigot like yourself.

As for milhouse, he (she?) is entitled to an opinion just like the rest of us and we can agree or disagree. Some of those opinions strike me as a bit highnosed but are almost never devoid of information.

We’re all starting to show signs of cabin fever. Some of us treat it by doing household chores we didn’t have much time for until now. Others “treat” it by jumping against the bars of our cages and screaming. Y’all chill.

I’ll be the kind one to tell you what most people are thinking, but not bothering to write, so you can improve your skills for the future and keep getting your 50 cents.

You see, everyone can see what you think you so cleverly performed – pretending to insult Cuomo for abusing the First Amendment by pointing out that he was defending Equal Housing. It was, as I said, cute.

Then you go on to tell us why Cumo wasn’t responsible for the ventilators. Uh Huh. Okay. Sure. But since the entire Democrat party are themselves need ventilators for their hyperventialtion over everything Trump did or did not make happen prior to this outbreak, your argument only highlights the screeching hypocrisy of the Democrats and further annoys.

But keep trying. It’s a good start.

That’s one way to look at it. But until now Trump’s big advantage was the economy, and now that’s in the toilet so the idiots who simply ask themselves whether they’re better or worse off than they were four years ago will take their revenge on Trump by voting for the guy who will make things ten times worse.

By allowing in illegals. My town was 1500 mostly old stock white folks with some Indians from the local res. Our mayor decided our real estate was too underutilized. She allowed illegals in. Through her contact with prison gangs she spread the word. In five years we had 3000 people half illegals from Guatemala and Chiapas. In ten 5300 well over 3000 illegals and their kids. Ten years. Our town had a murder rate to rival Chicago for a few years. We hadn’t had a homicide in decades. My son had investigated well over a dozen in six months. In that same county my grandfather did as many in twenty years.

thetaqjr in reply to forksdad. | March 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm

I misread. I conflated “tip” and the “FL”, reading it as “flip”, and interpreted it, not as an action taking place over an extended time, but as an instantaneous form of action.

          Thanks.

Every once in awhile when Joe speaks, I sense from him a kind of resignation. It makes me wonder whether Joe knows he’ll never make it to November because the people he has caucused with for a lifetime will turn on him.

He’s wanted it for decades, the Senate is mostly a bunch of people who would really rather be President, and being VP must really increase the appetite. These are all power-mad monsters, otherwise they would not even be in the game at that level, and it’s all about winning, and President is the biggest win.

Trump a bit less so because he didn’t spend his life in politics. But he has a lust for power too of course.

Biden works very hard campaigning, he almost shouts his speeches he’s so animated. Oh yes he wants it, and we have to make sure he doesn’t get it, because it would be very bad for the country.

The mind boggles.

TheOldZombie in reply to RodFC. | March 27, 2020 at 3:02 am

This is why Bernie is staying in the race. Bernie understands that if he drops out and than Biden drops out causing the DNC to find someone new to be the nominee the DNC can turn around and tell Bernie that since he dropped out he can not be the nominee.

So Bernie is wisely staying in on the off chance Biden doesn’t make it to the finish line standing. Bernie will have claim to be the nominee because he’s still in the race, he has delegates, and he will of course claim only he can beat Trump.

Than the DNC will still steal the nomination from Bernie and we will see the Democratic Party convention meltdown like a nuclear power plant. It will be glorious.

I wish Biden more years of life but I also wish he or his family comes to his senses and takes him out of the race right before the convention.

I’d never in a trillion years vote for Andrew Cuomo, not even for dog catcher. He’s ruined my Westchester County by embracing illegals over law-abiding citizens. Once good public schools are struggling to absorb the illegals so logically, people with money are fleeing.

The worst thing he’s done though, above all the sanctuary city and gun-grabbing laws is rename the Tappan Zee Bridge for his father. OMG, people were apoplectic.

This explains MSM… too bad they are tasked with helping the rest of us see the truth… Another irony crisis, as Scott Adams says…

If Biden is the candidate, all PDT needs to do during their debates is to get inside Joe’s OODA, making Biden feel the pressure.

Before you know it, we’ll see Uncle Joe devolve into the blithering idiot he is.

And that will be the end of the campaign.

Trump must be in God’s own heart. Why else would the prayer “Make my enemies ridiculous” be answered in such abundance?

Just when you didn’t think the Democrats could go any lower, well they will have to hire Elon Musk’s “Boring” company to dig fast and continually.

    Job, chapter 15

    verses

34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

The Dems are certain to use the fact that the US has the most virus cases against Trump. So how do they then tout the governor of the state with by far the most cases?

Give Joe a little slack. It’s not easy running for president when you need a teleprompter to remember your name.

Biden has been a gaffe machine for decades. He’s been molesting little girls in plain sight as well. The only difference between now and then is that the media is SHOWING you that Biden is getting senile.

Let’s be clear. You would not be seeing this video if they intended to run Biden. It would be scripted events and ads where he produces a sound bite and nothing more.

You are seeing what they want you to see. Read the tea leaves accordingly.

You are seeing what they want you to see. Read the tea leaves accordingly.

One advantage if that’s true, Trump won’t know his real opponent until late in the game and he won’t be able to deploy his label and destroy tactic – as that takes time to catch on. I suppose that means the Dems know their only hope in November is to create a last minute tsunami wave of enthusiasm to swamp Trump and the right. Of course that’s pathetic – akin to a hail Mary.

To counter that I hope Trump and team goes after the Democrats as a party with a collage of their clowns and do-nothing investigations and politics over the last 4 years … an constant reminder of their socialist dreams, non-accomplishments and their non-stop assault on Americans (racists all!) and our freedoms (free speech, guns, religion, baby killers / parts harvesting, etc) and their China love / Covid19 coverups. If they won’t identify an opponent, then burn down the party and everyone associated with it.

American Human | March 27, 2020 at 10:05 am

Here’s why Joe Biden will be the nominee: Everyone knows he’s feeble including the “deep state” and the DNC glitterati. He will have the delegates and the deep state goons will see to it that “The People” have no further say in the matter. They see him as their last hope to keep themselves going. A President Biden will do whatever they tell him to do. He will sign any legislation or EO put before him because they will tell him to and he will. He will never give a live press conference or stop to answer questions and will continue to shuffle around. No one cares what his condition is and if he were to have a stroke or whatever, VP Stacy Abrams will take over. She’ll be so far out of her ken that she too will do whatever the deep-staters tell her.
This would not happen with Bernie or Cuomo.
If Biden gets elected, we can expect full-on Statism.

Congressman Jim Enos Clyburn [Enos? I guess that’s better than Hussein] aka “the black Jesus Congressman” has only endorsed Biden. He probably will never endorse a Catholic like Cuomo.

I have already wagered a rather pricey bottle of 21 year old single malt Scotch that neither Sanders or Biden will be the DNC candidate.

Milhouse in reply to TheChemist. | March 29, 2020 at 3:56 am

As of what date? Is your bet (1) that neither one will be nominated by the convention, or (2) that neither one will be the candidate come election day, or (3) that neither one will be the candidate by the time the electors vote on Dec 14? Because I agree with 3 and I think 2 depends on the polls in late October, but I disagree with 1.

RCP has also increased Crazy Bernie’s lead to 5.4% over the President.

Why replace Clueless Joe when is opened up a wide lead in the polls?

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital | March 27, 2020 at 6:41 pm

Real Clues Politics is the site name?

Seems like Andy Cuomo has been caught hoarding ventilators in a NJ warehouse that he doesn’t need right away for NY, that other states desperately need now.

That should be the end of his presidential ambitions. He could win NY in the general election, but what other state could he win, having hoarded ventilators they may have needed?

Isolated, confused and feeble is a very generous way of describing Joe Biden these days.
