College Democrats at U. Tampa Denounce Presence of Border Patrol on Campus

“we condemn not only the presence of the officers but the actions of the US Department of Border Patrol as a whole, especially under the current presidential administration”

This apparently happened in February, but the story is just coming to light now.

Campus Reform reports:

College Dems outraged that border patrol is allowed to be on campus

The University of Tampa College Democrats publicly condemned the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in late February for tabling on campus, saying that nobody, not even law enforcement, should be able to have a firearm on campus.

The university’s Career Services invited the CBP to the campus to recruit students for careers in the field of border patrol. They were seen tabling in the lobby of the Vaughn Center where officers were in full uniform and armed at the table. This sparked backlash from the University of Tampa College Democrats, which then published a public statement on its Facebook page that evening.

“While we, the UT College Democrats, understand the value of careers in U.S. departments and the strength of our Criminology/Criminal Justice Department we condemn not only the presence of the officers but the actions of the US Department of Border Patrol as a whole, especially under the current presidential administration,” the statement read.

The group pointed out that 12.5 population of the student population is Latino with an additional population of foreign exchange students being more than 1,400 students on the campus of more than 8,000.

“The threats and violence placed on these students under our current administration make the presence of the officers potentially threatening for a large portion of our student body,” wrote the UT College Democrats.

I am holed up at the house. I will have to venture out within the next few days for a prescription refill where I will also restock the pantry of the items we have used at the house the past two weeks of being here (hopefully). When I leave the house the 45 will be strapped to my hip, not sure if it will be open carry or my regular concealed. Response time for law enforcement is now measured in hours or days if at all for petty larceny or assault.

Thankfully, students are not the final authority when it comes to campus security, or should not be. Their opinions will hopefully mature as they grow up!

i am getting serously disgusted with these activist jerks who imply that foreign students or Americans of Latin descent automatically support criminals and their illegal activities.
