Michael Avenatti was convicted today of extortion against Nike.

Avenatti represented discredited accuser Julie Swetnick in the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. Among the many enemies Avenatti made in going after Kavanaugh was Sen. Ben Sasse:

There were many reactions, but none as sizzling as from Sasse:

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after Michael Avenatti, the noted scumbag and left-wing-media darling who orchestrated attacks on Justice Brett Kavanaugh, was found guilty on all counts in his Nike extortion trial.

“Michael Avenatti is a D-list attorney but a Grade-A scumbag. It’s hard to get airtime from the slammer, so Nike’s win is cable television’s loss….”

Sasse is still going to be. US Senator and Avenatti is going to prison. I would say Sasse won this fight.

While I certainly won’t remember this day like the day Kennedy was assassinated, or the day men landed on the moon, it’s still a satisfying day when a sleazeball like Avenatti gets his comeuppance.

Michael Avenatti and Nike – when you hope everyone loses.

It could not happen to a less nice guy.

Avenatti has a lot going against him right now. The second trial in CA is not that far away, and it has many counts and the potential for a lot of jail time. Second, he injured himself by violating his bond terms and remained in custody through this trial. The violation means he is unlikely to get bond to handle affairs before incarceration and it weighs heavily on assignment to prison. It weighs in favor to assignment to a medium security facility rather than a lower security facility, particularly when the length of sentences is added to the mix. Avenatti might be getting his ass kicked quite frequently in prison because he is not as tough as the vermin in those FCI’s.

Third, due to this conviction, he has more pressure on him to strike a plea deal in CA due to the convictions on all counts and the sentencing guidelines. The conviction in NY will weigh in favor of a longer sentence in the CA case.

Fourth, one has to wonder if he stashed enough money to afford counsel for an appeal in the NY case and to handle all the proceedings in CA.

“” Avenatti might be getting his ass kicked quite frequently in prison “”

I wouldn’t think so. It would seem that he’d be a valuable resource for all of those cons trying to game the system. All he’ll need is a high ranking protector or two and he’ll be (relatively) fine.

It’ll be federal prison, and those are pretty tightly controlled. Still, I think after L.A., Avenatti will have an effective life sentence, at his age. No parole for Federal sentences, and he’s going to be looking at 30 or 40 years. Not much chance for him to plead guilty, either, as the evidence in the LA trial is overwhelming, and there’s no need for the Fed prosecutors to bargain at all.

One of the charges I find almost amusing in its arrogance, and also how it’s going to be punished more heavily than many other things he did which were arguably much worse. He owned a little coffee company on the west coast, which he used to launder all of is finances. The employees there payed withholding tax on the paychecks, like all employees, amounting to nearly $1,000,000 Avenatti took all that money and spent it on cars and blow, and never sent it in.

He’s not the first employer to do that, but when that happens, the IRS always takes the very extreme and intemperate view that he didn’t steal that money from the employees; he stole that money directly from the IRS itself, and they prosecute accordingly. And that’s just one of the charges.

That’s why I say he’s going away for Life.

Trump will be gloating tonight. He will be spending Valentine’s night with Melania and a bigmouth, showboat goombah nemesis is going to prison. Trump might even pull the cork on a cold bottle of…sparkling apple cider or grape juice.

What’s the over and under on M. Avenatti and M. Cohen soaping each other up in a prison shower?

I wonder if Brian Statler of CNN has started a gofundme page for Avenatti yet to help with the cost of the appeal. LOL.

So let’s expand the circle a little. Avenatti’s used to work at The Research Group for Rahm Emanuel while a law student doing opposition research. Nike was represented by Boies Schiller & Flexner which used to have Kristen Gillibrand as a partner. Avanatti has liong been a denizen of the Swamp.

Next Democrat President will probably pardon Avenatti and make him Attorney General. 😉

He cheats on his multiple wives; he cheats his law partners–one of them has a ten million judgment against him; he cheats on his mistresses; he beats one of his mistresses up; he steals from his clients; what’s not to like about this shmuck?

Avenetti-Smollett in 2020!

#BASTA BABY LOL

At least he got an A in something!

A very inauspicious end for President Avenatti.
