James Carville to Bernie Sanders: “At least I’m not a communist”

James Carville to Bernie Sanders: “At least I’m not a communist”

Well, that escalated quickly.

Is Bernie Sanders a *mere* Socialist, or a full-blown commie? That will, of course, be a topic of debate in the general election should Bernie be the nominee.

That’s a debate that terrifies the Democrat establishment, which fears Bernie at the top of the ticket could cost them the White House and the House of Representatives.

James Carville, former Clinton guru known as the Ragin’ Cajun, has reappeared recently sounding the alarm over the far-left drift of the Democrat presidential field, “We’re losing our damn minds”

We have candidates on the debate stage talking about open borders and decriminalizing illegal immigration. They’re talking about doing away with nuclear energy and fracking. You’ve got Bernie Sanders talking about letting criminals and terrorists vote from jail cells. It doesn’t matter what you think about any of that, or if there are good arguments — talking about that is not how you win a national election. It’s not how you become a majoritarian party….

They’ve tacked off the damn radar screen. And look, I don’t consider myself a moderate or a centrist. I’m a liberal. But not everything has to be on the left-right continuum…

Here’s another stupid thing: Democrats talking about free college tuition or debt forgiveness. I’m not here to debate the idea. What I can tell you is that people all over this country worked their way through school, sent their kids to school, paid off student loans. They don’t want to hear this shit. And you saw Warren confronted by an angry voter over this. It’s just not a winning message.

Guess who was not happy with Carville’s comments? Bernie, who called Carville a “political hack”:

James, in all due respect, is a political hack who said very terrible things when he was working for [Hillary] Clinton against Barack Obama. I think he said some of the same things. [Transcript via RCP]

Carville returned fire:

Carville, who worked as a campaign strategist for former President Clinton, escalated the feud Thursday on Snapchat with former CNN reporter Peter Hamby.

“Last night on CNN, Bernie Sanders called me a political hack,” Carville said. “That’s exactly who the f— I am! I am a political hack! I am not an ideologue. I am not a purist. He thinks it’s a pejorative. I kinda like it! At least I’m not a communist.”

Trump also recently referred to Sanders as a communist.

“I think he’s a communist. I mean, you know, look, I think of communism when I think of Bernie,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity before the Super Bowl.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Carville, yiu idiot: you created these monsters that now wish to enslave you.

Leftists movements always eat their own, from the French Revolution to Lenin. The problem is that they destroy the society in the process.

Even the MAYFLOWER COMPACT which allowed the lazy to take advantage of the work of others.

The first group to misinterpret individual Christian charity into a sure to fail political system.

Only difference with the Marxists is they use guns.

Is it still the economy?

    oldgoat36 in reply to Petrushka. | February 13, 2020 at 9:45 pm

It’s never been the economy, it is always and only about holding power. The economy was just the excuse to abuse the constitution and do any criminal acts they could get away with to maintain power.
    But you knew that. 😀

      Valerie in reply to oldgoat36. | February 14, 2020 at 1:50 am

It’s the economy: the legislators’ economy, where political dynasties and their friends have grown very wealthy on our money.

“That’s a debate that terrifies the Democrat establishment, which fears Bernie at the top of the ticket could cost them the White House and the House of Representatives.”

I can think of A FEW THINGS which WILL cost them the White House and the House of Representatives! And THAT makes me VERY HAPPY!

I took the picture at this link, added bernie at the top and 2020 at the bottom to create a meme.
Don’t know who did the original picture but it’s spooky accurate of bernie, warren and bloomberg for sure.

I note that Carville does not object to the actual intentions of Sanders, but rather the their public revelation before they can be imposed on an unsuspecting public. I see nothing that would disqualify Carville from being a Communist. Or his former patrons.

Carville does not take issue with Sanders’ positions, or that of any other candidate, only with them telling the public what is planned. He readily admits that a candidate has to hide their actual agenda from the voters or they will never get a chance to implement it.

    ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑

I had planned on making the same observation. It isn’t that Carville, or any other Socialist-Democrat, is opposed to the plans. He’s just opposed to letting the rubes know of the plans until they win election and it is too late to stop them.

That’s exactly who the f— I am! I am a political hack! I am not an ideologue. I am not a purist. . . At least I’m not a communist.

That’s a surprisingly insightful observation, especially coming from Carville, who I usually expect to be about as insightful as a hand grenade.

But it might be worth noting that what everyone is now calling a “communist” has little connection with history’s classical communists, such as Marx, the Paris Commune, the Bolsheviks, etc. They were all concerned with the struggle between the workers (and farmers, and miners, etc—Marx’s “producers of value”) and non-workers (the infamous “capitalists”). They would have considered the modern “Free Stuff/giveaway/government as Santa Claus” culture to be incomprehensible; they understood math and logic, and were determined to increase the world’s efficiency even at the price of totalitarian control. Their modern fellow travelers are mere children agitating to be let into the candy store.

Rest assured Bernie is a classical commie. He’d put 50 to 100 million to death in a heartbeat to maintain power.

And James Carville will have to be one of the first.

Those Communist don’t like competition from other Liars.

Just like this report about what’s happening now in Communist China.

“There have now been four occasions where I have witnessed on live Chinese national TV public officials being frog-marched out of press conferences in hand irons. Their crimes? One had his mask on upside down. One did not have a mask on at all. One was stating (translated by my wife) that he had repeatedly been telling Beijing about the problems for weeks – and there was no response. One was answering every question with obvious double-speak (not unlike listening to Nancy Pelosi or Ted Cruz). Shortly into the press conferences, young men from the PLA show up – slapped on the hand irons – and hauled them out and in all 4 cases – it was just stunned silence in the rooms. My wife just casually tells me – “no one will ever see them again.”

It is also clear to me as a physician – listening to the Chinese doctors – and viewing footage from the hospitals and clinics – that this is many orders of magnitude worse than what they are saying. Common sense will tell you that as well – are they really going to torpedo their entire industrial heartland for months – just because 300 people have died? — I think not – I think this is way worse than we can possibly imagine.”

I take issue with that dude drawing some kind of equivalency between freakin’ Nancy Peloshi and Ted Cruz?! Since when has cruz ever lied? He just about blew his entire argument with that slick move.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to rdmdawg. | February 13, 2020 at 11:44 pm

I don’t know much about Ted Cruz except he’s from Texas.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to rdmdawg. | February 13, 2020 at 11:47 pm

Is that web site The American Conservative really “conservative?”

I got some vibes looking at their other articles that they might not be, but then I don’t know much about them.

Edward in reply to rdmdawg. | February 14, 2020 at 7:05 am

You don’t know much about someone, other than where the person is from, yet you are more than willing to denigrate the person. Right.

Edward in reply to rdmdawg. | February 14, 2020 at 7:38 am

It occurs to me that notamember might benefit from knowing that Ted Cruz is a member of a fairly rare club, having argued nine cases before the SCOTUS. Didn’t win them all, but just having argued nine cases is more than most of those who get any cases to the Court.

Quotation marks have a meaning other than mine.

He’d force millions to listen to an endless loop of obama speeches. The screams of horror would rival any gulag’s.

    Virginia42 in reply to tom_swift. | February 14, 2020 at 7:51 am

When you read the history, it’s clear that once in power most of the hifalutin’ goals of Marxism went out the window as they were impractical and were never going to happen spontaneously given how contrary they are to human nature.

Books such as Pipes’ _The Unknown Lenin_ make it quite clear that terror was integral to any Marxist socialist endeavor. Lenin was every bit as capable of being violent as Stalin–indeed, Stalin only used the tools Lenin bequeathed to him.

Most of the half-baked Commies we have running for office now are simply going for a post end of Cold War “revision” of Marxism, but if they ever really got a chance to implement it, the end results would be the same.

I remember when Gus Hall and Angela Davis used to be fringe candidates. That somebody like that could be a front runner is indicative of some pretty serious problems in our society.

Latus Dextro in reply to tom_swift. | February 14, 2020 at 3:19 pm

Bernie is a throw-back, a Marxist atavism. Classical Marxism lost the economic argument. Replaced by neo-Marxism emerging out of so called ‘Critical Theory’ and the Frankfurt School that saddled us with the toxic trinity of political correctness, identity politics and cultural Marxism, thereby guaranteeing the division, exclusion and inequality we now see and perversely, are blamed for.
    But you knew that.

Bernie has arms like a woman. Has he ever done anything physical, mow the lawn, wash a car, rake leaves, walk the dog or even shine shoes?

Never heard any mention of him being a biological father.

FYI

After Attending a Trump Rally, I Now Know Democrats Have No Shot in 2020.

I’ve been a Democrat for 20 years, but my experience made me realize just how out of touch my party is with the country at large

“We have candidates on the debate stage talking about open borders and decriminalizing illegal immigration. They’re talking about doing away with nuclear energy and fracking. You’ve got Bernie Sanders talking about letting criminals and terrorists vote from jail cells.”

I know, ain’t it great? If anyone-but-Sanders becomes the Dem nominee, the damage will be lasting. If Sanders is chosen, the Dem party will be destroyed for generations.

4D Chess, well done Trump.

This democrat primary season is like ‘Lord of the Flies,’ ‘Silence of the Lambs’ and ‘Deliverance’ all rolled into one except even more awesome.

Welcome to the year of living dangerously. Desperation requires the Dems to go to extraordinary extremes. The old playbook isn’t working well. I greatly fear there will no boundaries.

If you want totalitarian govt control of all aspects of life, you’re a socialist. But which flavor?

Well, if you’re obvious about it, you’re a communist.

But if you prefer the pretense of free markets, you’re a fascist.

Bernie’s a commie. Jimmie’s a fascist.

The classical communists preached killing all the capitalists outright. The socialists want to bleed them dry first.

Fighting over distinctions that have no differences. Commie, socialist, Democrat, NeverTrumper…. No need to take sides here. Just make room and let them rip each other apart.

Also notable is how the NeverTrumpers have re-emerged over the Barr-Trump dust-up. Same old neocons recycling the same lies. And there’s McConnell again siding with them. Isn’t that what these RINOs do when the Dems are flailing? Step in and save the day for them?

Hey Carville, what do you think Liberal Progressives are progressing towards?
