The Washington Examiner reports:

Coronas and surgical masks: Coronavirus-themed party prompts university investigation

A college “coronavirus party” featuring surgical masks and chilled Corona beers has prompted anger from some on campus.

The University at Albany is investigating whether the off-campus party last weekend violated its student code of conduct after the Asian American Alliance at the school became offended by the party theme, calling it “not funny and completely insensitive.”

“Diseases that affect non-white populations are radicalized in a way that stems from the innate xenophobia of American society. It serves to dehumanize the affected population,” the group said in an Instagram post.

The video was originally posted to Barstool Albany’s Instagram account on Sunday. Although it has since been deleted, it reportedly showed a person wearing a surgical mask and with a bucket of cold Corona beers, with the caption, “Corona virus isn’t gonna stop anyone from partying.”

Officals from the university said in a statement that the party theme was “distasteful and hurtful” and was not representative of the school or its 18,000 students.

“Any allegations of conduct violations will be investigated and addressed through the University’s disciplinary process,” the statement read.

I’d call it “gallows humor.” Although most cases and deaths have been in China, it has the potential to become a global pandemic and kill many thousands.

Of course, that’s not funny. BUT, sometimes humor is an appropriate response to a potentially lethal threat.

Because even in an age of an all-inclusive “that’s not funny!” some things need to be laughed at. Such as, human mortality.

Because when you have little or no control over whether such a threat actually potentiates and metastasizes or just fades away, what is there to do but laugh at it?

The People’s Ministry of Humor doesn’t approve?

Why do these people have their panties twisted into a wad?

I certainly hope the party had plenty of limes to represent Lyme Disease!

This is free expression, and no different from a Hurricane party.

The feels police have gotten out of control if this is even up for consideration.

Somewhere, somehow, someone, in some way, is being offended.

We Cannot Allow This.
