Looks Like Buttigieg Won’t Support Changing Democratic Platform on Abortion

Hell will freeze over before the Democratic Party openly welcomes those who don’t embrace infanticide.

A pro-life Democrat asked 2020 Democratic presidential candidate former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg if he would support changing the abortion language in the Democratic Party platform.

Buttigieg did the politician thing where he answered, but don’t answer.

Kristen Day described herself as a proud pro-life Democrat. She reminded Buttigieg, and the entire party, that 21 million people identify as Democrats.

Day asked Buttigieg two questions:

  • Does he want pro-life Democrats to support him?
  • Will he support changing the Democratic Party language to embrace the pro-life Democrats?

Of course, he answered the first question:

“Well I respect where you’re coming from and I hope to earn your vote, but I’m not going to try to earn your vote by tricking you,” Buttigieg responded. “I am pro-choice and I believe that a woman ought to be able to make that decision. I know that the difference of opinion that you and I have is one that we have come by honestly and the best that I can offer, and it may win your vote, and if not, I understand, the best I can offer is that if we can’t agree on where to draw the line, the next best thing we can do is agree on who should draw the line and in my view it’s the woman who’s faced with that decision in her own life.”

Moderator Chris Wallace asked Day if Buttigieg answered her questions.

Day rightfully called out Buttigieg for skirting her second question:

“I was not because he did not answer the second part of my question and the second part was: the Democratic platform contains language that basically says that we don’t belong, we have no part in the party, because it says abortion should be legal up to nine months, the government should pay for it, and there’s nothing that says that people have who diversity of views on this issue should be included in the party,” Day responded. “In 1996 and several years after that, there was a language in the Democratic platform that said that we understand that people have very differing views on this issue, but we are a big tent party that includes everybody and so therefore we welcome you, people like me, into the party so we can work on issues that we agree on.”

“So my question was would you be open to language like that in the Democratic platform that really did say that our party is diverse and inclusive and we want everybody?” Day asked.

YOU GO, GIRL! These candidates want their support but won’t dare to include language that embraces them.

How did Buttigieg respond? Like a typical politician:

“Well I support the position of my party, that this kind of medical care needs to be available to everyone, and I support the Roe vs. Wade framework that holds that early in pregnancy there are very few restrictions and late in pregnancy there are very few exceptions, and again the best I can offer is that we may disagree on that very important issue and hopefully we will be able to partner on other issues.”

T. Becket Adams at The Washington Examiner wrote that Buttigieg performed like “a good company man” since his company has no problem with infanticide.

I agree, but want to expand on it. Buttigieg also performed like a politician in a sticky situation. He gave a vague answer so he could possibly gain Day’s support even though she doesn’t support infanticide.

Leave the Democratic Party. You don’t have to join the Republican Party. Just identify as an Independent because the Democratic Party will never ever open their arms to pro-lifers.

“A pro-life Democrat asked 2020 Democratic presidential candidate . . .”

A pro-life Democrat? They exist? Who knew.

The D Party has all the ideological birthmarks of Nazism, Communism. They can’t fully act like Nazis. Not yet. If they acquire power and can change the Constitution, it’s a certainty that their behavior will follow the well-trodden paths of all totalitarians.

See VA for proof of that.

Re: abortion- with the latest study out showing that the fetus can likely feel pain at 12 weeks gestation, how can they still support all abortions anymore????
They wouldn’t allow that on a pregnant dog and her pups!

Brase was mentioned in the Mississippi abortion case CA5 opinion. Brase was the case on whether the risk of pain made the death penalty unconstitutional.

The subject of pain creates a conundrum for those justices to demonstrate intellectual consistency, especially for Ginsburg who wrote the dissenting opinion that the death penalty was cruel and unusual if the there was any risk of feeling pain.
Yet the fetus is afforded no such protection under Roe/Casey

A nervous system and the presumptive seat of consciousness evolves from around one month. Pro-Choice, selective, opportunistic, politically congruent, is a straw man dressed as a straw clown religion.

That said, yeah, Fetal-Americans (“babies”) have their human and civil rights violated through judgments that deem life unworthy of life, denial of due process, the right to confrontation of witnesses, the right to keep and bear arms etc., the right to a trial by jury, and, finally, cruel and unusual punishment. A progressive debasement of human life in order to keep women barefoot, pregnant, and taxable. Then there is clinical cannibalism (Planned Parenthood).

[Elective] abortion! What is it good for?

The choices are abstention, prevention, adoption, and compassion. And Pro-Choice, the wicked solution.

A pro-life Democrat? Isn’t that sort of like a Conservative RINO?

What is Mayor Peter Paul and his Husband not telling us.

How many abortions have Peter Paul and his Husband needed done?

Perhaps it’s Peter Paul and Mary in two fathers and a rent-a-womb. Female trans/homo couplets who want children have a Dick.

      Yeah Pro Life Dems exist

There are a lot of Catholic families who still vote D out of traditiion. Somehoe the fact that their great-grandfather started voting Dem during the Roosevelt administration outweighs the fact that the party no longer resembles the party he was voting for.

I don’t ubderstand it, but I have encountered it enough to know it’s a thing

Dem extra **BONUS** points if you support “white” infanticide.

Why do these “moderates” Support a party that wants nothing to do with them outside money and a vote? Time to register in another party.

One cannot honestly agree with the Roe v. Wade framework, as the Mayor says he does, and simultaneously honestly agree that the decision to abort lies totally with the woman, as the Mayor says he does.

The Mayor is lying. Lying smoothly , but lying still.

We have a significant number of people who see having illegitimate children as an income source and path to independence. Once they discover that children are work, even when the mostly ignore them, they start having abortions.

The truth is that many abortions occur spontaneously. Nature decides to end the pregnancy.

Also, why would anyone want people who don’t want a baby for the right reasons to have them? The child loses, society loses.

We pay them to take care of the baby, they do no. The child grows up, and we pay to prosecute and imprison them?

    1) So the penalty for neglectful parents in the death penalty – for the baby.

    2) The truth is that spontaneous end to a pregnancy is called a miscarriage – not an abortion.

3)(and 4) Adoption is abetter alternative. Once again, you want to punish the baby for the sins of the parent.

      JusticeDelivered in reply to txvet2. | January 29, 2020 at 5:54 pm

The way many of these babies are raised, more like not raised, is an awful punishment. They will never have a change of achieving their potential.

When I was vice consul in Guangzhou back in the 1990’s, every MOnday was “baby day” when we’d process immigrant visas for adoptees. A lot of the adoptive parent said the stock of adoptable babies was low Stateside and the waiting lines too long. Well, in any case. these people made me proud to be an “Uhmurkin”.

What are you going to do about it?

Vote Republican?

If you pro-abortion people want to punish somebody for parental neglect, try punishing the parent, not the child. It’s as if you’ve never heard of contraception. How about a spay and neuter program? Works for cats, and it should be right up your alley, given that you want to run everybody else’s life from birth to death. Oh no, that’s right, that would violate a woman’s “right to choose” to murder her own infant child.

The Dems seem to think that ideological purity is more important than attracting independent voters. So far, they have excluded many different groups from their “small tent”:
Conservatives
Most Moderates
Gun Owners
Anyone with reservations about abortion
People who believe in equal opportunity
People who don’t want higher taxes
People who don’t like poop on the streets
People who want to attract more jobs
People who want the US to stay energy-independent
People who want a reliable power grid
People who don’t like socialism and communism

I don’t see how they can expect to win elections like this.

I suppose hunter biden could move to Virginia, sit down with the governor and come to an agreement to murder his latest child rather than pay child support…..

Nana Star in reply to 4fun. | January 27, 2020 at 9:52 pm

Hunter Biden is an out of control idiot. If he were my son I would be embarrassed to even say I was related to him. He sets absolutely no good example of what a father or husband should be. The ability to do drugs and use his families name for his self satisfaction and gratification
puts a horrible stain on his family and all of his children.

Mayor Pete hasn’t had enough experience to even be considering a position as President. His stance on abortion will never be Pro Life. Maybe he should have considered how he would not
exsist if his mother had chosen Pro Choice. Since he is a Democrat it goes without saying he has no religious beliefs when it comes to abortion. Go see the movie “Unplanned” Mayor Pete
then you will change your mind on a very important subject.

Kepha H in reply to Nana Star. | January 29, 2020 at 7:29 pm

Pete Buttiegig’s mother would never have aborted him. She was a devout Roman Catholic. One reason why Mayor Pete became an Episcopalian was to find a church that had smells, bells, and would bless his lifestyle.

Kristen Day described herself as a proud pro-life Democrat.

I still can’t get past this part. Militantly unreflective cognitive dissonance.

Next she’ll claim to have come from a galaxy far, far away.

Butt Plug is a son of Satan. A kingdom divided cannot stand. He MUST be for death and murder. His father demands it. His own lifestyle is one of physical and spiritual death.
