Ted Cruz Cites Three “of the most GLARING abuses of power by the DOJ & FBI” in Horowitz’s “chilling #FISAreport”

Cruz on Horowitz Report: It’s a “stunning indictment of the FBI and the Department of Justice, of a pattern of abusive power”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was on fire during Wednesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that featured testimony by IG Michael Horowitz.  He called the report a “stunning indictment of the FBI and the Department of Justice, of a pattern of abusive power.”

Mary covered part of Cruz’s questioning yesterday.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) brought up FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who changed an “email that he sent to the supervising agent who thereafter relied on it to swear out the final FISA application.” Cruz mentioned that an ordinary citizen would face prosecution if they did the same:

“So the men and women at home need to know what’s happening,” Cruz continued. “A lawyer at the FBI creates fraudulent evidence, alters an email, that is in turn used for the basis of a sworn statement to the court that the court relies on. Am I stating that accurately?

“That’s correct,” Horowitz answered. “That is what occurred.”

The New York Post has more:

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday tore into the FBI agents and Justice Department officials who conducted the Russia probe — comparing them to buffoonish cartoon characters.

“What was going on here — this wasn’t Jason Bourne, this was Beavis and Butthead,” the GOP senator told Michael Horowitz, referring to the superspy from the Bourne film franchise starring Matt Damon and MTV’s cartoon knuckleheads.

. . . . Cruz said the IG’s report laid out “a stunning indictment of the FBI and the Department of Justice, of a pattern of abuse of power.”

“I think the facts that are in this report need to be understood and they should be deeply chilling to anyone who understands the facts,” Cruz continued.

Cruz zeroed in on a portion of Horowitz’s report that said the feds used confidential sources to talk to one-time Trump campaign aides Carter Page and George Papadopoulos.

“The Crossfire Hurricane team used the techniques including confidential human sources to interact and record multiple conversations with Page and Papadopoulos as well as on one occasion with a high-level Trump campaign official who was not the subject of the investigation,” Cruz said, following up on GOP charges that the feds spied on Trump’s campaign.

“They didn’t play spies in the campaign, but they sent spies to record senior members of the campaign in the middle of a presidential campaign when that candidate was the nominee for the other major party to the opposing party to the one in party, is that right?” Cruz asked Horowitz.

“They sent confidential human sources in to do those,” Horowitz replied, prompting Cruz to demand who else in the chain of command was aware.

“Who at DOJ knew about this? Did the attorney general know about this? Did the White House know about this?” Cruz demanded.

“Based on what we found, nobody had been told in advance,” Horowitz said.

Cruz, who once worked at the DOJ, then pointed out that if someone during his tenure there had suggested spying on a Democrat’s presidential campaign someone would have asked “what in the hell are you talking about?”.

Cruz then asserted that if someone within the FBI or Justice Department had tried to open an investigation into a rival presidential candidate when he worked for Justice someone would have wondered “what in the hell are we doing?”

“When I was at DOJ if someone said let’s tap Hillary Clinton, or let’s tap Bill Clinton or John Kerry the people would have said what in the hell are you talking about?”

“Any responsible leader when hearing that you’re talking about sending in spies and sending in a wiretap on any presidential nominee should say what in the hell are we doing?” he said before making the comic comparison.

Cruz tweeted the key segments containing three of the most glaring abuses of power by the Obama DOJ and FBI:

I’ll believe it’s real when I see at least some of the perps in orange jumpsuits. Until then, it’s just more words. Words alone cannot save a country.

Given Barr’s history of ignoring IG criminal referrals, I can guarantee that we will see pigs fly before we see Barr indict any of his former colleagues

This, I think, is a problem. The Powers That Be are hoping that just pointing out the illegal actions is enough. It is not. It wasn’t when Comey did it with Hillary, and it is not now.

They have their low-level scapegoats who are named in the report and intended to be the sacrificial lambs to appease the masses. It won’t work. People are angry, and tossing some ex-swampers into the brig will just stoke that anger, not assuage it. Hopefully they manage to figure it out. Soon.

So when are you going to admit we have a two tier Justice system and there’s no voting our way out of it? What time will any of these criminals do? It just keeps getting rubbed in our face. We’re peasants, dirt people being replaced in our own country and we pay for it.

As if Cruz and a majority of republican weren’t aware of this stuff two years ago.

Yet here we are. We’re told to be patient.

Prosecuting is hard work. Collecting evidence requires years of even harder work.

We’re also told the Fed could indict a ham sandwich. In fact, during the past two years, the democrats have successfully indicted, prosecuted and jailed more than a dozen Trump ham sandwiches.

OT. Sorry. But a blowout by Tories and Johnson. Worst result for Labour since 1935. Corbyn is finished.

We’re aware. We’ll have a post when the results are final. 🙂

There’s always timely stuff on LI but what I like most about this site is that you aren’t compelled to throw up something the second it happens. It’s OK to be correct than fast. And sometimes it’s even better to slow it down more so you can think about it and offer something unique that no one else does. If you were like everyone else, I wouldn’t read it every day.

Thanks to you and everyone for all your work!

Am I understanding it correctly that at that very inception of appointment of Mueller, the DoJ knew the entire collusion accusation was an absolute sham? And they pushed that knowing sham for 2 years? Is that accurate?

    “Is that accurate?”

Are you trying to make a funny? 🙂

Certainly if The Honorable Robt. Mueller disclosed the reality of the #DeepState deception as soon as it was obvious it might have had an impact on last year’s Congressional elections.

Unfavorable to Democrats, that is. Which, of course, could not be permitted.

Naming Names: It’s Time to Name and Shame the Partisan Liars Who Attacked the American Democracy with Lies for Three Years
—Ace of Spades

Alexthechick (hey I know her!) wrote on Twitter:

Let us review: The Steele dossier was used as the central basis for the FISA warrants, just as the crazies said and as the Super Duper Experts Who Are Totally Plugged In To All Kinds Of Access mocked.

The Steele dossier was full of lies and rumors and rumors of lies and not a thing in it was verified see re: rumor lies, just as the crazies said and as the How Dare You Insult The Integrity Of The Rank And File Of The FBI *bald eagle screech* caterwauled

Donald Trump was put under surveillance, just as the crazies said and as the Eyeroll Sure You Would Believe Anything You Cult 45 Member Plebe sneered

I hate being wrong. I hate humiliating myself in public by being wrong in public. When it happens, which it does because the Universe is fond of teaching me much needed humility, I go back and stop and think about how and why I was wrong so it doesn’t happen again.

When I get fundamental premises about a situation completely wrong, I go back and review my premises. Why? It is not only because I hate to be wrong. It is because that is what you do if you are a thinking human being who cares about your own intellectual integrity.

To date, the only person who has made any public statement and apology about the crazies being right and he being wrong is Andrew McCarthy. Again, there may be others that I did not see but he is the only one in my awareness.

Years and years of sneering and smearing of people and not so subtle statements of we know things you don’t and that’s why we know, with absolute certainty, that you are crazies for doubting the integrity of the FBI whose agents gave false testimony in death penalty cases

Let us name names.

Lots more good reading there.

And, of course, the Dhimmi-crats would have us believe that the sainted Obama, the self-reverential egomaniac and off-the-charts narcissist, who perpetually believes himself to be the smartest person in a given room, didn’t know what was going on, and, had no role to play in this lawless and brazen attempt to sabotage and spy on then-candidate Trump, and, President-elect Trump.

These reprobates believe that the peasant rabble are fools.

Based on the page to strzok text: “POTUS wants to know everything we’re doing,” obama knew exactly what was going on and knew it all in real time. brennan was a long time obama fixer, bag man, fellow traveler, possibly even handler. It’s going to come out that brennan was the instigator for Spygate and that is no coincidence. brennan initially tricked comey into playing along. Once comey came to believe hillary was inevitable, he did two things. 1: He exonerated hillary regarding Servergate. 2: He expanded the fbi’s illegal spying against PDJT (Spygate). Cracks are finally appearing in the msm wall (See rolling stone magazine’s ‘Corroboration Zero’: An Inspector General’s Report Reveals the Steele Dossier Was Always a Joke). Eventually, those afflicted with level 10+ TDS are going to reach the point of no return. I received my biggest down-vote comment here on LI expressing what I think the plan should be, but we need something so we avoid violence. We’re approaching Perfect Storm conditions… Servergate. Spygate. Horowitz, Huber, Durham and more.

My take away from Horowitz’s report is this. He exposes 17 “Errors” in the FISA applications. He doesn’t try to reason as to how so many could happen in one single investigation but I will. It would have to be TOTAL INCOMPETENCE or POLITICAL BIAS. Horowitz was so blinded by his adherence to “Documented” evidence that he could not make this simple choice. I do not believe the American people will have the same problem with this choice!

While Howowitz tried very hard not to give sound bites for the Republicans and FOX News to use to bludgeon Demoncrats.

I just love the tiny positive head shake Horowitz gives when Cruz says, “this is a stunning indictment”
