Obsessed Yale Psychiatrist Leads Effort to Declare Trump ‘Dangerous’ as Part of Impeachment Record

Yale psychiatrist Bandy Lee and others are trying yet again to use their influence to damage Trump. Lee began accusing Trump of being unfit for office back in May of 2017, then again in January of 2018, and a third time in June of 2019.

Now she is trying to pin her group’s opinion to the Democrat impeachment inquiry.

Tyler O’Neil reports at PJ Media:

Psychiatrists Organize Campaign to Declare Trump ‘Dangerous’ as Part of Impeachment Congressional Record

Psychiatrists with the World Mental Health Coalition are soliciting signatures in a campaign to support the impeachment of President Donald Trump predicated on claims that he is mentally unstable. This campaign arguably violates the ethics of psychiatry, mimicking a historic attack on another Republican presidential candidate who successfully sued for libel after psychiatrists declared him unfit for the presidency.

In an email forwarded to PJ Media, three psychiatrists with the coalition ask other psychiatrists to sign on to a petition to the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee to include a statement on Trump’s supposed mental instability into the official record of the impeachment inquiry.

Dr. Bandy Lee, a forensic psychiatrist at Yale School of Medicine; Dr. Jerrold Post, a psychiatrist and political psychologist who founded the CIA’s Center for Analysis of Personality and Political Behavior; and Dr. John Zinner, a clinical professor in the Psychiatry Department of the George Washington University School of Medicine, wrote the petition and statement condemning Trump.

Lee and her colleagues have been repeating this message for almost three years:

“We are American psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals who have come together at this critical time in our nation’s history,” the petition begins. “We believe there are important mental health issues that need to be understood and addressed with regard to the president, whom we believe poses unique dangers to the country and the world.”

These folks need to familiarize themselves with Trump Derangement Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

John Hinderaker of Powerline has questions:

These people have never met the president, and have no basis to offer a “diagnosis” of his mental health. I believe they are violating recognized standards in their profession by issuing groundless opinions of this sort.

Moreover, they have a hard time keeping their story straight. Is Trump a warmonger, or a Putin stooge who will let Russia rampage over Eastern Europe? Or is he neither, but an America-first president who wants to end long-term conflicts in places like Afghanistan? If Trump is “unstable,” why has he hewed consistently to such a coherent, and successful, set of policy preferences? If he is a threat to the Republic, why has his administration ushered in unprecedented levels of employment and income, and especially benefited minority populations, while maintaining peace abroad?

The continued effort of Lee and her group looks like a shameless and partisan attack on President Trump which diminishes the image of their profession.

“Psychiatrists with the World Mental Health Coalition”

Will legitimate psychiatrists take a stand against this crap or will they let their profession go down in flames? Trust is easily destroyed but difficult to recover. (I am assuming they have some trust to defend)

Meanwhile all these head “doctors” ignore the greatest mental health issue of all time – Islam and its imperative to its believers to convert the world to Islam by any means available, fair or foul, including the wholesale murder of those who resist.

A clear HIPPA violation. A diagnosis is protected information, always.

Milhouse in reply to MattMusson. | December 3, 2019 at 3:04 pm

No, it is not a HIPAA violation. Trump is not her patient, so she has no obligations to him. Nor does she have any confidential information about him, or any information at all that she didn’t read in a newspaper. So how could she be violating anything? She is merely expressing her opinion, which is of course her right, however stupid it is.

But it is an ethical violation of the Goldwater Rule.

Milhouse in reply to lc. | December 3, 2019 at 11:35 pm

And therefore? What has that got to do with HIPAA? You are coming to defend MattMusson’s ridiculous claim that she has violated HIPAA; instead you simply change the subject.

        MsPony65 in reply to Milhouse. | December 4, 2019 at 8:05 am

You are correct. It is not a HIPAA violation.

It is, however, a very serious case of malpractice and unethical behavior. This woman and all those mental health “professionals” who associate themselves with her are in violation of established best practice standards, and therefore should have their licenses suspended until such time as they either correct their grievous errors, or have their licenses to practice revoked.

          Milhouse in reply to MsPony65. | December 6, 2019 at 12:40 am

It’s an unethical thing to do, but it’s not malpractice, precisely because Trump is not their patient. When they make this purported long-distance diagnosis they’re not practicing medicine, they’re prostituting their degree to practice politics. Therefore I don’t think they can be disciplined for it by any government body.

    Quack Quack.

Oh, it’s just Bandy and not a real duck.

Bandy should be quacking up over Hilary.

Hillary Clinton is still refusing to rule out running for president despite already missing the filing deadline for the New Hampshire primary.

Defining political differences as mental disorders: what could possibly go wrong?

I’m far from an anti-psychiatry activist, but, this is a profession that has consistently promised more than it can deliver, and just as consistently pretended to a degree of scientific knowledge that it does not yet possess.

At a minimum, it surely would be in the profession’s interest to distance itself from dangerous nonsense like this lest it be further discredited as a source of (semi-) scientific truth.

RE: “…this is a profession that has consistently promised more than it can deliver, and just as consistently pretended to a degree of scientific knowledge that it does not yet possess.”

Isn’t that almost a literal definition of crooks and con artists?

JackinSilverSpring | December 3, 2019 at 11:19 am

The only person who is nuts here is Dr. Bandy Lee. She has fourth-stage terminal TDS.

These “Psychiatrists” are the same type of people that Stalin used in the Soviet Union against anyone that disagreed with the Leftest Communist Party. History is repeating itself.

Good grief, this is all just a giant case of Dim projection.

Collusion with Russia? Yeah, the Clintoons took many millions from Russia into their “foundation.” The whole “pee” dossier was cooked up with help from the Russians ffs.

Quid-pro-quo with Ukraine? You can find video on Youtube of Gropey Joe bragging about it.

Mental health issues? Hello? Have you looked at the Dims leading presidential candidate lately?

These Dims are simply disgusting in their lust for power at all cost.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder still in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual?

I’m waiting for Dr. Lee to diagnose Mr. Trump with “sluggish schizophrenia”…

Lucifer Morningstar | December 3, 2019 at 11:32 am

Great Maker. Are we back onto the 25th Amendment nonsense? Perhaps it’s time that official complaints be filed with the relevant psychiatric boards for Lee and the rest of the members of the “World Mental Health Coalition” seeking the revocation of their licenses for unprofessional behavior.

Someone needs to file ethics complaints against every single one of these so-called professionals.

Look up “World Mental Health Coalition” . It is a hoax.
Nothing “worldly” about it. It’s just the same few TDS patients being pretentious.

Funny how her mental health is never questioned. It should be.

You can also tweet your comments directly to the World Mental Health Coalition at @worldmhc

I suspect that many people study psychiatry in a subconscious effort to understand and resolve their own mental disturbances.

In her case, it apparently is not working.

Bandy X Lee. If that is her real name.

She’s sparred with Mark Levin before.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A30d6HEaZc

This person needs to have an examination to find out what drives her obsession.

And for ethics charges to be brought for diagnosing someone without having examined them and then disclosing her opinion as fact to the public.

Surely she’s violating some rule of either the state she’s licensed in or any organization she’s a member of.

It’s a violation of the Goldwater Rule, and she could be sanctioned.

Milhouse in reply to lc. | December 3, 2019 at 11:40 pm

Sanctioned by whom? The “Goldwater rule” is just the opinion of several professional organizations. First of all, she may not be a member of those organizations, so she needn’t care even about their actual rules. Second, even if she is a member of one or another of them, this isn’t a binding rule, it’s an opinion and she’s entitled to disagree with it. Third, the worst sanction any of these groups could apply would be to cancel her membership.

I am over halfway through “Judgement in Moscow”, written by Vladimir Bukovsky, a Soviet dissident. Bukovsky was well acquainted with the use of psychiatry as an instrument of torture. I think Dr. Lee would have been quite at home in the Soviet Union.

Dr. Lee and others like her are not overzealous political opponents of Trump. They are horrible, evil people who want everyone they disagree with enslaved or dead.

This disingenuous behavior is along the lines of the Dems/Progs. They, with their wholly owned subsidiary, the dinosaur media, are attempting to criminalize political actions.

Both are a large danger to our country.

Lee needs a good psychiatrist.

Bandy Lee …. sounds like a hooker’s name to me.

“These folks need to familiarize themselves with Trump Derangement Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.”

Before reviewing anything diagnostic, she needs to be forced to take a course in Medical Ethics.

2smartforlibs | December 3, 2019 at 2:42 pm

at one time you had to meet with the people before you could make a claim now its all about hate.

The likes of useless lunatics like this woman and Ted Lieu must be a great embarrassment to Asian immigrants who worked so hard to make it to American, work and educate their children.

Michael Walsh has the best take on psychiatry, Viennese Voodoo.

have a couple of shrinks in the family and have known several over the years–without a doubt, some of the most profoundly screwed-up/disturbed individuals have ever encountered

I agree with Mattmusson It is a HIPAA violation. If a licensed medical professional make a diagnosis The diagnosis is protected health information. If they are then disclosing this PHI to A third party without the patient’s written consent then it’s a violation.

If these psychiatrists claim their speech is merely political opinion then it’s not a HIPAA violation. If they claim their speech is a specific diagnosis of a specific patient and on the authority of their medical expertise then it IS a HIPAA violation.

    TX-rifraph in reply to Dr S. | December 5, 2019 at 8:09 am

    Help me understand.
    1) Is Trump a patient or a target? To be a patient, do I need to agree to the relationship (doctor-patient)?
    2) Is a formal contract needed for Trump to be a patient? (I fill out a form if I see a doctor or I do not see the doctor)
    3) Is an opinion by Lee based on public information covered by HIPAA?
    4) Does she have any information that is not already public? Does HIPAA only cover private non-public information?

I think HIPAA protects the person. Thus, I think the diagnosis is “covered” information but not “protected” information.

I am just trying to understand what territory this fraud (Lee) is getting in to.

      Valerie in reply to TX-rifraph. | December 6, 2019 at 1:42 pm

It would be a HIPPA violation, IF she had enough information to make a diagnosis!

As it stands, she is making a diagnosis without information, which is an ethical violation serious enough to get her license revoked, if she has one.

Milhouse in reply to Dr S. | December 6, 2019 at 12:45 am

You are spouting nonsense. HIPAA applies only to private information, to which a medical professional is privy because of his professional relationship with the patient. These lunatics’ “diagnosis” is not private information, it is not based on any private information, and they have no professional relationship with the President that they could violate. This is very simple and obvious.

tic...tic...BOOM | December 5, 2019 at 7:13 am

Yale psychiatrist. That’s all you need to know to see where this is going.

Look. It cannot be a HIPAA violation because this psycho-psychiatrist does not have a doctor/patient relationship with Mr Trump. She is violating a lot of laws and ethics statutes, but HIPAA isn’t one of them.

I’ve written HIPAA guidelines. I know what protected information is. I also know what it isn’t.

I am tempted to shout in all caps, but please, just read this:

It cannot be a HIPAA violation because she has ZERO PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PRESIDENT. She has no private information to protect!

She has stepped beyond the bounds of best practices, and should have her license revoked and NEVER reinstated.

I’m a retired mental health professional. I got out of the field because of this absurdity. Believe it or not, this crazy psych is not the worst I’ve seen.

But she is very public, and the APA should be loudly renouncing her. Their silence is deafenting.

Phony professions lead to phony professionals almost as surely as night follows day….
