In Interview, Hillary Clinton Still Refuses to Rule out Possible 2020 Presidential Run

Clinton is still playing the “will she or won’t she run” game, fueling more speculation of a late entry into the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race.

Here we are in December, just two months away from the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses. Seeing no hope of their presidential campaigns catching fire, several candidates from the crowded field have dropped out, most recently Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

Other Democrats like former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg decided to jump into the race late. Another one is still playing the “will she or won’t she run” game, deliberately not ruling out the possibility of an even later entry into the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race.

Failed 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton appeared on BBC TV talk show host Graham Norton’s show last week. He asked the same question she often gets asked when she sits down for Q and A’s:

The question of her potential candidacy came up when Clinton was asked about one of the subjects in her book, USA soccer star Abby Wambach, who retired with the tagline ‘Forget Me’, in order to leave the public stage and have someone else take her place.

Norton asked: ‘Are you saying ”Forget me” now?’, to which Clinton answered, ‘not yet’, to applause and cheers from the studio audience.

[…]

Norton asked: ‘The rumour mill is flying that you could step back into the ring.’

Clinton replied: ‘I hear that. I have been deluged the last few weeks with thinking about doing that, but right now I’m not at all planning that.

‘I would have to make up my mind really quickly, because it’s moving very fast. But I do want to continue to influence the debate.’

Watch this segment from the interview below:

It was the third time in the last two months that Clinton has refused to close the door on throwing her hat into the ring yet again.

She told BBC Radio 5 Live in November that she “never, never, never” says “never.” In an early October interview on PBS, she claimed, “Maybe there does need to be a rematch. I mean, obviously I can beat [Trump] again.”

The reports from the New York Times and Washington Post that swirled in October about whether or not she would run got to be so prevalent that some Democratic Senators went on the record to practically beg Clinton not to do it.

As I’ve noted before, she would love nothing more than to get a second chance at Donald Trump, and there are two main reasons for that:

1) She’s obsessed with identity politics and wants to become the first woman ever elected POTUS and

2) She sincerely believes he’s an “illegitimate” president who only won thanks to the mythical Trump/Russia collusion and thinks she wouldn’t lose the second time around.

It’s wishful, delusional thinking on her part. But on the flip side of things, if she declared her candidacy so close to the start of the primaries, it would seriously increase the entertainment value of the Democratic presidential race.

Think about how Joe Biden, Mayor Pete, and Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders would seethe at her audacity, considering how long they’ve been running and all the time and effort they’ve put in so far. They wouldn’t be able to keep all that anger under wraps for long.

And if she managed to win the nomination, setting up a rematch with Trump? The candidates’ Twitter fights alone would make the 2016 general election seem like child’s play, not to mention the backflips the mainstream media would perform on Clinton’s behalf.

To be sure, I’m getting a little ahead of myself here. Nevertheless, the prospect is still out there. As Clinton herself has said, “never say never.”

Many, many voices in her head are telling her to run.

legacyrepublican in reply to MattMusson. | December 4, 2019 at 7:21 am

And most of those voices speak after seeing the balance in the Clinton Foundation decline further and further. Then other voices speak after seeing their speaking fees drop too. And finally, the last voice in her head is the one that bemoans the cut-rate ticket prices for their combined speaking tour where no one shows up.

And to add insult to injury there is a new name for it too. It is called the Hunter Biden syndrome.

Honestly, if she’s managed to get a handle on her health issues, I suspect she would do better than any of the major candidates in the race now.

And, of course, she stands to make a lot of money by running, even if she loses.

“…even if she loses” should be replaced with, “…when she loses.”
The chance of finding intelligent life on mars is greater than Hillary Clinton becoming president.

Milhouse in reply to userpen. | December 4, 2019 at 10:00 am

One would like to think so, but consider how close she came three years ago. I don’t think she could repeat that performance, since the President is now no longer an unknown quantity, but I wouldn’t like to bet on it.

clintack in reply to userpen. | December 4, 2019 at 10:16 am

I had in mind whether or not she failed to get the nomination.

      But never say never.

If there’s some economic uncertainty next fall — perhaps instigated by Chinese action — the media will amplify it to 11 (see: the “recession” that gave us President Clinton), and Trump could well lose.

the look on the usual suspect faces when Trump crushes her on election night…

priceless!

William Jennings Bryan, Adlai Stevenson, and Tom Bradley couldn’t be reached for comment.

Bob Dole ran a few times as well … but at least the last time, he resigned his Senate seat in the realistic acknowledgment that you cannot do your currently elected job while running for another. Would that more had followed his lead …

    The practice should be illegal.

      Milhouse in reply to hrh40. | December 4, 2019 at 10:05 am

If one can do the president’s job while campaigning for president, then surely one can do a senator’s job (which is what?) while doing the same thing.

And the left thinks Trump has mental issues? This woman is delusional, married to predator and has never accomplished anything of substance (besides her massive financial grift machine) in her pathetic life.

What’s the slogan this time? THREE TIME’S THE CHARM?

Edward in reply to walls. | December 4, 2019 at 9:43 am

Around here we usually hear it as “Third time’s the charm time.”, but that’s as good a slogan for The Hildabeast as there can be and still remain fit for mixed company.

There is nothing charming about Hillary.

I’m imagining Hillary being introduced as “President Hillary Clinton” as she makes “non-campaign” speeches during the primaries in her effort to “continue to influence the debate”.

Then she is crowned as the nominee after a brutal fight at the end of the inevitable brokered convention only for “President Hillary” to lose in a historic landslide victory for Trump.

“What Happened!!! Part II” by “President Hillary Clinton” becomes an instant classic.

Every day another primary deadline passes. How is she going to enter the race? At a brokered convention after the 115th ballot?? The Democrats already have a billionaire candidate who can buy the Superdelegates lock stock and barrel. They have Deval Patrick as a backstop for a brokered convention if they can’t nominate Bloomberg. What do they need Hillary for?

Of course if the Convention goes more than 100 ballots they might turn to just about anyone.

I think the Democrat establishment would quickly move to draft Michelle if there were any sign that Hillary is planning to get back in. The Clintons are done and everyone but Hillary knows it.

“I especially have been deluged in the last few weeks with thinking about doing that”

“Okay, Chelsea, today call me 10 times asking me to run. And get some of your friends at your Starbucks and your Taco Shack to do the same. That way I can say I’m being deluged.”

I think the information on multiple New Mexico Epstein Ranch visits by the Clinton family was leaked to put a stop to an potential return of Hillary to public office.

In other news, the Sun did not rule out that it will come up in the morning. Also, taxes did not rule out being collected and water did not rule out being wet.

Confusion over these deeply concerning events continues.

I think the obsession is ours. She is obviously not running–even if she thinks she still might. Deadlines have passed in numerous states–especially in the South (Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas) where Clinton would need to do well. It has also passed in Illinois and New Hampshire (two good Clinton states), and if she is not on the California Secretary of State’s list, she will have one week to submit names to get on the ballot. Bloomberg and Patrick waited until the last second to announce. That second has now passed.

Valerie in reply to Carl. | December 4, 2019 at 9:36 am

She still wants to run, and she is definitely telegraphing it. My theory is that, if her health were better, she’d be pushing a lot harder.

The thing is, she hates campaigning. She does not want to travel, or make speeches, or meet people.

She also hates Americans. She really believes we are a bunch of stupid Deplorables fit only for abuse.

Actions speak louder than words, but I’m relying on her words, too.

Comanche Voter | December 4, 2019 at 9:25 am

And why not? She still has a broom in the closet, so she’s got transportation for the campaign. Hillary will be “thinking of” running until the Wicked Witch of the West has gone to her grave.

So on a British TV show the Brits in the audience cheered when The Hildabeast claimed we would still have more opportunities to k̶i̶c̶k̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶a̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ umm, see and hear her public contributions to the US political scene.

She won’t jump in before she’s been assured that the fix is in – and there’s no fixing her with the fractious left.

I just think she is in attention seeking mode and trying to keep her equally unaccomplished daughter in the limelight.

OMG, PDT beat her when he was brand new to politics and had no political machine, accomplishments or record to run on. Now he has a record of achievement, demonstrated ability, etc.
She has been a politician for thirty years or more and has zero accomplishments to show for it. I think PDT would wipe the floor with her and I don’t mean with a rag.

2020 so far is playing right into her hands. She expects a contested convention where she will be carried to the WH on the knuckle dragger’s shoulders and she won’t have to run.

Well of course she still wants to be President. But when that doesn’t happen, she could still jumpstart the Clinton money machine if she can snag a Cabinet post in a Democratic administration.

Antifundamentalist | December 4, 2019 at 1:42 pm

I wonder what the odds are that she has arranged to be the VP for the eventual Nominee.

Stick her with a fork

She is done

The only people who want Hittliary to run again are those who want pay back for their donations to the illegal Clintoon foundation and the morons who vote for Demoncrats and RINOs (a .k.a., zombie Demoncrats).

If only these people would just go away and leave us alone. If only.

1) She is not going to run in the primaries.
2) The contempt the Democrat Party has for its own members matches the contempt they have for America and all Americans.
3) This entire Caucasian Cluster Copulation [now that we have a non-diverse candidate field] was never intended by the Party Nomenklatura to produce an elected nominee. It was intended from the beginning to produce a totally buggered convention unable to produce a nominee.
4) At which point the Nomemklatura will lay their benediction upon their own choice who will not have had to deal with the peasantry and questions involved in the Primaries. The captive media will spend the campaign protecting the chosen one.
5) Hillary thinks it is her. It may or may not be. Maybe Hillary, like Epstein, will not commit suicide either.

The Harpy Hag is chomping at the bit to become a three time Looser.

Well, I think she should hold out for 2052. Or 2096, if that’s too soon.

The question shouldn’t be “Will she or won’t she run?”, but rather “Is she still delusional?”

Personally, I would love to see Hillary run….preferably into oncoming traffic.
