Trump Offers Mexico Assistance in ‘Cleaning Out’ Drug Cartel ‘Monsters’
A drug cartel murdered nine Americans, including six children, in northern Mexico on Monday.
A shootout in northern Mexico killed nine American citizens, including six children. Apparently, a drug cartel thought the SUVs belonged to a rival drug cartel.
President Donald Trump declared the U.S. “stands ready, willing & able” to help Mexico eliminate “these monsters.”
The victims resided “in the La Mora religious community in northern Mexico, a decades-old settlement in Sonora state founded as part of an offshoot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around 70 miles south of Douglas, Arizona.”
The gunmen murdered three women and six children. The shootout left six children injured.

Early reports indicated the tragedy could have been a case of mistaken identity, but recent history also raises the possibility the LeBaron family was the intended target: only a decade ago, two members of the family opposed to local drug trafficking groups were kidnapped and murdered, according to the New York Times.
Mexico’s federal Department of Security and Citizens’ Protection said security forces were reinforced with National Guard, army and state police troops in the area following “the reports about disappearance and aggression against several people.” The troops were searching for the missing community members, believed to include 11 children or more.
Trump responded this morning with an offer to help Mexico.
This is the time for Mexico, with the help of the United States, to wage WAR on the drug cartels and wipe them off the face of the earth. We merely await a call from your great new president!

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began his presidential administration by swearing the drug war over in Mexico. Unfortunately, the “murder rate has hit record highs this year.” People have said the president’s situation has not worked.
López Obrador described it as “a regrettable situation.” He also said Mexico doesn’t “need intervention.”
He added that Mexico already “declared war, and it didn’t work.” Therefore it “is not an option.”

Mexicans are a proud people. They’ll never admit that they need help.
Trump will make them an offer they can’t refuse.
And this time it will be foreign aid done Right!

Too many government officials are on the payroll of the cartels. They don’t want their checks to stop or their own family killed so it may take something a lot worse to get the country’s attention.
We don’t need boots on the ground right now, just enough good intelligence so some drones can do the work.
They’re too good at hiding, because they have to hide from each other all the time. Those contemplating a military solution should realize that anything strong enough to really hurt the cartels now will require several hundred thousand deaths, maybe over a million. I don’t think the US has the will to carry out that kind of action, so we need to seal them off and stay out.
We could always try a simple cheap solutions.
Legalize.
It worked for alcohol.
I suppose we need to think of all those government agents out of a job. We should look for some different people to hate along with an appropriate prohibition.
So proud that millions of them have sneaked into the U.S. illegally to live here.
The US has been Mexico’s safety calve for decades. If we really did close the border, the lid would blow off within weeks.
You saw the film of the fight in Culiacan, right? The lid has already blown off. Not only has it blown off, Obrador and the Govm’t have already surrendered.
The Mexican Government now openly admits that they barely control 1/4 of the country. The rest is run by the cartels, very openly. They will not be challenged.
Could we stop funding the cartels?
Legalize.
They can be as prroud as they want. In truth they are incompetent.
Repeating Prohibition is the chief incompetency.
Members of drug cartels need to start having close encounters with our infamous drones.
Mexico has no interest in cleaning out the Drug Cartels, just imagine what that would do to its GDP!

Mexico has an interest in emigration reform, including securing their nation and southern border.
The government, the society and the cartels are overlapping blobs. They probably are not identical triplets, but they’re surely cousins. Other than the minority of honest people that exist within any society, who in Mexico has the will to remove the cartels?
Who in America has the courage to end Drug Prohibition?
I say we go all “man on fire” on them. Cartels understand one thing and that is violence.
Well that and we could actually arrest our own homeless thieving addicts and cut off the demand.

When Obrador was elected, some were worried that he would be a leftist strong man. Well, that worry is over. He is a weak, weak leader, and he has already surrendered.

What you have to wipe out is profit opportunities.
México ALLOWS citizens AND permanent residents to purchase and own limited types firearms. However, there is no right to self-defense, not even for the local police. The process for obtaining permission is long, cumbersome, and burdensome. Only one store in all of México sells firearms for citizens and permanent residents. That store is located in México City and is controlled/managed by the army.
While this is horrific, I’m more concerned about cartel and MS-13 activities in the US. I don’t really believe in dual citizenship. These were “fundamental Mormons” (polygamists) living in Mexico. Mexico is a dangerous country. Acapulco is beautiful, but no one visits any more because of the crime. Even Cancun is experiencing crime problems.

I won’t take my wife and kids to mexico for this reason. I go for work but won’t let them go. They say but its cheap. I say safety is more important than saving a few dollars.
If this involved a carload of American Catholics would people feel differently? What about a carload of Mexican Catholics?
A necessary part of emigration reform to mitigate the progress of immigration reform and collateral damage at both ends of the bridge and throughout is the good neighbor protocol.
And just like that Democrats are now against US forces being involved in another countries affairs.
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel as there’s a country in Latin America that faced an even worse situation than México and came out ahead: Colombia.
Did anyone forgot about “Plan Colombia”? To recap, the country was on the brink, with narco terrorist in control of important cities like Medellin and Cali. The former was the murder capital of the world and people like Pablo Escobar had no problems setting up bombs targeting civilians.
There was also a long guerrilla war against the FARC communists, who held a sizable chunk of the country and who kidnapped civilians with impunity. Imagine living in Orlando, FL and being unable to drive to Tampa because terrorist had checkpoints with computers connected to a government database that told them If you were a lowly peasant or from middle to upper class background and thus a good target for a ransom.
That was Colombia and starting in 2002 and under the leadership of President Alvaro Uribe they started fighting back in an intelligent manner. They increase their security spending and even today Colombia has the largest budget in the region as a percentage of GDP. They got a better trained and equipped army to fight against the FARC and a better police force to fight against the narcos.
And they beat them: Medellin is now safe, to the point that is on the itinerary of travel groups. Mexico is (believe it or not) more prosperous that Colombia and has a larger economy by far.
If Colombia did it Mexico can as well, but they spend a pittance in security and depend too much on the army to do policing work that they’re not trained to do. Up to a few years ago they spent more on gasoline subsidies than in their army, which shows where there priorities were.
President Trump should offer to help, but let’s try something that worked in the past.

Because that would be an invasion.
And the thousands of illegal border crossings per day on our Southern border aren’t an invasion? The time for politeness and civility are over when it comes to these cartels. They are cutting people’s heads off in the streets of Mexico for God’s sake. American’s are being killed.
These people chose to live in Mexico, which is another country. We offer or ask.

If we send our men and women to to another country’s job, AGAIN, will they be encumbered with ridiculous rules of engagement, writing by lawyers, AGAIN?
Cartel money comes from el norte. So perhaps we ought to focus on getting our own house in order.
The cartels killed Americans. There should be a nighttime US Navy SEAL raid across the border to go and get the cartel leaders. I don’t care about Mexican sovereignty, Americans were killed. They obviously don’t care about ours.
Maybe Americans should stop consuming illicit drugs.
Maybe the Government should stop supporting the cartels with Prohibition.
30 million or more illegals, producing fifty million or more spawn, that is an invasion.
