Pronouns Gone Wild: Obsession Moves From Campus To Politics

“If you feel like you’ve been hearing about pronouns a lot lately, you’re on to something.”

https://youtu.be/41XYzO4c_qE

Over the last several years, we have seen the migration of progressive culture from the halls of college campuses to the mainstream. The creation and recognition of ‘International Pronouns Day’ is a perfect example.

If you haven’t heard of International Pronouns Day, you’re not alone. It’s new, having been first recognized just last year. It occurred again yesterday and is already being treated by many as completely mainstream.

This concept grew directly out of the recent embrace of transgenderism in higher education, where the special day for pronouns is being heavily advanced and celebrated.

This article is from the University of Washington school newspaper:

New pronoun option coming for students; celebrate International Pronouns Day Oct. 16

Starting this academic year, the University of Washington is implementing an option allowing students and other members of the UW community to express what pronouns they go by in their everyday lives.

The UW Office of the Registrar plans to integrate pronoun use into class rosters as early as winter quarter if resources and schedule allow.

“Providing instructors with their students’ self-identified pronouns is our highest priority so that faculty don’t have to assume them based on name or appearance,” said Helen Garrett, UW Registrar.

This is no longer limited to college campuses, however. It has infiltrated politics at a national level. Marina Patrofsky reports at The Hill:

2020 Democrats recognize Pronouns Day

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro was the first 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to mark International Pronouns Day Wednesday.

“Using someone’s correct pronouns—and giving your own—isn’t difficult. I’m Julián Castro, he/him/él,” Castro tweeted.

“It takes one extra breath to help people feel seen and respected. I think that’s worth it. #PronounsDay” he continued.

See Castro’s tweet below:

Elizabeth Warren is also talking about it:

You may recall that CNN’s Chris Cuomo recently got himself into trouble for not taking this concept seriously enough. CNN takes it very seriously, as you can see below:

Why it matters what pronouns you use to refer to people and what to do if you slip up

If you feel like you’ve been hearing about pronouns a lot lately, you’re on to something.

Sam Smith took to Instagram in September to announce that their pronouns are they/them. Merriam-Webster announced a few days later that “they” can also be used to refer to a single person whose gender identity is non-binary, meaning neither male or female. And recently, Sen. Kamala Harris introduced herself at a CNN LGBTQ Town Hall by stating that her pronouns are “she, her and hers.”

Maybe all this is new to you. Maybe you’re a little confused. Maybe you’ve been doing this for a while, but you know a friend, coworker or family member who could use some help. Whatever the case, we’ve got you covered.

Finally, here’s CBS News devoting over five minutes to reporting on this.

If you want to know what Democrats will do tomorrow, simply look at what the campus left is doing today.

It has become a nearly perfect prediction model.

Julian, are you sure?

It’s not about pronouns. Not really. Agitprop needn’t make sense. Next week it’ll be something else. Something equally ridiculous.

It’s about the struggle. The roiling ferment. The forever revolution.

It’s about control. It’s about who is master. As Humpty Dumpty said in Alice in Wonderland:

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’ ‘The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’ ‘The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

Ok, first of all, this is dumb. Second of all, I’ve never understood the need to say three versions.

Why not just say she or he or whatever if you want to be different?

Is someone ever going to have the pronouns he/her/hers? Is each one for different days of the week?

Julian, I am so “il” after reading your tweet, so get the “elle” out of here.

I have a simple policy.

Whenever anybody tries to pull the pronoun bullshit with me I simply replace all pronouns with ‘Jackass’.

It’s gender neutral.

May 19th is diphthong day, a public holiday in Australia.

You just know there is a Democrat who will claim that as their personal pronoun.

One of the major tech companies is undergoing a pronoun meltdown, this is near the center:
    https://meta.stackexchange.com/a/334908
    I identify as “attack-helicopter!”.

So first a person with Y chromosomes, a convex … “inseam area”, and a neckbeard declares She/her and insists on using the ladies room.
Then it goes to nonbinary they, but also Xe/Xir and other “neopronouns”, and if I say they are Ze/Zir, and you use something else or even AVOID using pronouns, you are misgendering.

There is one element where people will be polite and in their presence or even elsewhere describe the bum steers that Bruce and Bradley bulls, now Caitlyn and Chelsea cow, as She/Her, but it has already gone into the crazy/stupid arena.

This is another shift from goodwill to the pronoun police.

There’s a reason this idiocy only exists in English. Won’t work in languages that still have inflected cases–German, French, Russian, etc.

It’s still mind-numbingly stupid, and ideological. Has nothing to do with reality.

Pronouns, like prepositions, as a closed-class word, meaning that new ones are not discovered and added as the language grows.

My preferred pronouns are “”, “”, and “”. I’d like to see them used more often.

We are supposed to remember everyone’s er so all pronouns?
That makes my head hurt.
This is just ludicrous.

Over the course of a year I may interact with hundreds of people, and I’m supposed to remember a different set of pronouns for each of them? LOLGF!

Elaine had the idea of everyone walking around with name tags, to make the city more friendly. Lloyd Braun took the idea of Mayor Dinkins (no bright light to be sure) who then announced it would become policy.

So, we expand it to the entire country. With huge penalties for not wearing your name tag and even huger penalties for addressing others by the wrong name and/or pronoun.

Government – the cause of, but also the solution to, every problem in the world.

    The Non-Fat Yogurt.

I can hardly wait for #AdjectivesDay. I’ve got some real doozies in mind.

So…at the University of Washington, their “highest priority” is not teaching and educating students, its calling them by the correct pronoun?
Wow, I’m glad I’m just a 65+ year old man and I don’t need to worry about that sort of baloney.

If you indulge a pronoun lunatic, you are part of the problem.

Suggestion: All those wishing to be addressed by the newest pronouns should have them tattooed on their foreheads while those that use standard pronoun don’t. Either that or just tattoo a flaming “L” instead.

Don’t be fooled. This “trans” pronoun phenomenon is not merely innocuous self-aggrandizment and rank narcissism, at work — it is a manifestation of Dhimmi-crats’ aggressively-pursued totalitarian ethos and agenda. The Dhimmis understand that controlling the language and the lexicon is a powerful political tool.

See “assault rifle;” “justice-involved youth;” “white privilege;” “intersectionality;” “microaggressions;” “triggers;” “safe spaces;” “disparate impact [theory of alleged discrimination];” “moral/responsible/patriotic capitalism;” — to name only a few of the most prominent of the Dhimmis’ contrived, nonsense and poisonous conceits that have been granted undue deference and legitimacy by the MSM, corporations and academia.

Oh, I forgot to add “toxic masculinity” and “mansplaining,” to my list. If anyone else has any other choice words or phrases of note from the Dhimmi-crat propaganda lexicon, please feel free to add on! ?

guyjones in reply to guyjones. | October 17, 2019 at 2:54 pm

My God — “Islamophobia” — how could I leave this one out?!

A word which is absurd, on its face, because it literally means “fear of Islam,” and, Muslims and their dhimmi, useful idiot advocates contend that there is nothing to fear from this intrinsically supremacist, totalitarian, intolerant and belligerent ideology of hate.

By changing the language, you change the hidden presumptions that will better help to lead people towards “correct thinking”.

And it’s further along than most people are admitting.

A good twitter thread that explains this quite well:
    https://twitter.com/JoanOfArgghh/status/877136371093196800

Lastly, I’ll add my final observation on “trans” totalitarianism/narcissism — it sure would be nice if the Dhimmi-crats evinced as much concern for, and, exerted as much effort on behalf of, American citizens, as they do with regard to this numerically insignificant population of mentally ill, attention-seeking, pathological narcissists.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to guyjones. | October 17, 2019 at 4:00 pm

Or even a tenth as much concern for the UN-BORN.

Their faith: twilight (“penumbra”), quasi-religion: Pro-Choice (selective, opportunistic, “=”), and ideology: liberal (i.e. divergent), predisposes them to conflate logical domains, and aids and abets a quite sincere belief in spontaneous human conception (“viability”), warlock trials and cruel and unusual punishment (selective/planned-child or wicked solution).

Know who else used pronouns? Nazis and the Klan.

The only important thing to understand here is the ever evolving revolutionary struggle pitting the preferred leftist group or class of people against the other.

Next week it’ll be dairy products versus soy milk and cheese. It doesn’t matter. Only the struggle matters.

Male, masculine, he, him, his… her? Baby, fetus, a colorful clump of cells. Progressive confusion.

Soon they left will be back to “comrade”.

“When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

— Theodore Dalrymple

I don’t know if he has changed his mind, but Theodore used to believe that Drug Prohibition can work.

The one government program conservatives used to unequivocally believe would work (there were exceptions like Wm. Buckley). Having missed the glaring example that shows otherwise.

    Alcohol Prohibition.

I go along with none of it. It is so much easier.

The modern Left is certifiably Effing nuts, proving that Leftardism is a mental disease.

imagine the dilemma of those who must sign to communicate–what will be the appropriate gesture/sign?–who will determine if it’s offensive/proper?–since don’t know how to sign in the first place, will be forced to respond to all this nonsense with the tried and true middle finger

I’m BrokeGopher and my pronounsxare I/me/mine

JustShootMeNow | October 18, 2019 at 11:15 am

try these: F**K/off/idiots

Don’t forget adjectives. Applied to the clown car of Democrat candidates, the most appropriate are: dumb, dumber and dumbest.

Welcome to the proverbial provinciality of the USA–inclpuding the crew that loudly proclaims how “multicultural” it is.

I speak, read, write Mandarin, and also learned some Hakka and Thai. None of these languages gender their pronouns, yet their speakers can be as “male chauvinist” as any speaker of an Indo-European or Semitic language.
