Latest Polling Indicates Kamala Harris’ Campaign Has Cratered in Iowa

Harris is at the stage in her campaign where a senior adviser who sees the writing on the wall should advise her to consider bowing out gracefully

If Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) was hoping to get some good news about her slumping campaign after the fourth Democratic debate, polling information that was released by Emerson two days later gave her a rude awakening.

Harris, who polled at 18% in Iowa after the first debate when she went toe to toe with Joe Biden, now stands at a measly 2% in the crucial first caucus state:

Her low numbers in Iowa are in addition to her poor showing in key primary states like South Carolina, New Hampshire, and even her home state of California.

The news from Emerson was no doubt a devastating blow for the Harris campaign, which made it a point in mid-September to announce they were going all-in on finishing strong in Iowa. “We want to make sure that we have a strong top-three finish,” her campaign manager Juan Rodriguez said at the time.

Harris was even overheard telling fellow Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono that she was “f***ing moving to Iowa”:

It’s clear that whatever she’s doing to try and win over Iowa Democrats isn’t working.

Nevertheless, she’s still persisting in making issues out of things most voters don’t care about, like getting President Trump suspended from Twitter. Here’s what she told CNN Wednesday:

“And it is a matter of the safety of those individuals,” Ms. Harris said. “You can look at the fact that the shooter in El Paso was influenced by the words that the president of the United States, unfiltered, uses through this medium on Twitter.”

“He has 65 million followers,” she said. “And we have to take seriously the implications that are about threatening witnesses, intimidating witnesses and obstructing justice. And this is a private company that has rules of engagement, terms of use, and the president should be treated just like anyone else.”

Watch:

Unfortunately for Sen. Harris, her top campaign staffers aren’t doing her any favors, either:

An aide to Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-Calif.) 2020 presidential campaign complained in a text exchange with BuzzFeed’s top editor about a “problematic” tweet critical of Harris by a reporter for the news site.

BuzzFeed in a rare move released the exchange between Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith and the unidentified aide, which occurred after Harris again called on Twitter to ban President Trump from Twitter during Tuesday night’s Democratic debate. Harris also called on Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) to make the same declaration, which her fellow 2020 White House hopeful declined to do.

“Hard to know if last night harmed or helped Warren, but think all can come together and agree a debate highlight was Warren telling Kamala Harris no about banning Trump from Twitter then just continuing with her point in the manner of shrugging off a Greenpeace clipboard person,” Buzzfeed reporter Katherine Miller tweeted during the debate.

“hey i have talked to her directly a few times when she’s tweeted out stuff like this, and i told her i was glad she deleted this tweet, but this kind of stuff is just a really horrible look for you guys,” the unidentified aide wrote to Smith. “frankly, it’s whiteness manifest.”

Here’s the full exchange:

Perhaps even more embarrassing was when Harris campaign national press secretary Ian Sams ended up deleting an altered image he posted of Harris standing in the same room as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during last Wednesday’s contentious Syria meeting:

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump tweeted an image of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi standing up during a meeting in the Cabinet Room of the White House in an attempt to mock her, but this backfired.

On Thursday, the Kamala Harris campaign altered the image and replaced President Trump with the California senator and 2020 hopeful, this also backfired.

Harris campaign national press secretary Ian Sams tweeted the edited image with the caption “Time for an upgrade,” but many were left scratching their heads.

Here’s what the meme looked like:

According to SFGate.com, Sams blamed “right wing trolls” for the backlash the meme received, but in reality Republicans and Democrats alike complained about it:

After the Emerson poll was released, the ribbing of Harris’ campaign continued:

The icing on the cake for Team Kamala came Friday night when she appeared on Anderson Cooper’s show on CNN. She said during the segment that Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani has “clearly broken many laws,” but when Cooper asked her for specifics, she paused for a couple of seconds and then stated she didn’t know what laws he might have broken:

Awkward!

Someone, maybe a senior adviser who perhaps sees the writing on the wall, needs to pull her to the side and say these words to her: Don’t go away mad, Kamala. Just go away.

I remember as if it were yesterday when she announced her candidacy. I’m 1000% sure she thought she had the nomination sewn up. Black. Female. 2020. Her time.

Then she starting talking. ??

Another mental lightweight candidate that thought playing in the big leagues was going to be so easy.
Easy to say these things in front of a bunch of like thinking loons in California.
Pretty bad when a friendly questioner like Anderson Cooper throws here a few soft balls and can’t even cover for her.
Go back to your district and offer some free stuff and tell everyone they aren’t to blame for any shortcomings. Bring(taxpayer) money.
    They’ll still love her there.

Hopefully the people of California get woke and take her out.

I don’t necessarily count her out yet. The D field appears to be narrowing down to a handful of plainly unelectable candidates, so I’d be prepared for a springtime panic and a brokered convention.

She’s so far from qualified, she doesn’t even see what the qualified people have that she doesn’t. California (the part that isn’t burned up yet) may reconsider who it puts in that Senate seat in 2022.

I don’t see links after

but in my other browser I do. Any idea what I might have munged?

Your comment prompted me to compare Firefox (my default) with Chrome on this page. FF with AdBlock Plus and DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials lets only the very first graphic of sourpuss Harris through. Chrome on the other hand has at least a dozen embeds from Twitter with charts and photos. Turning OFF AdBlock Plus AND DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials makes NO difference in Firefox.

I had no idea I was missing that much content here! Looks like it’s time to switch default browsers again. Now where’s that plug that strips the google tracking front end off of referral links in Chrome?

I’m using Firefox (and Adblock+) and I got all of those links. Maybe your problem is elsewhere.

Kamel Toes ….

America neither needs nor wants you …. but Willie Brown does. However after he said you’d be a poor candidate and he prefers Hillary, I’d understand if you decide to no longer be his suc-u-bus.

“Harris is at the stage in her campaign where a senior adviser who sees the writing on the wall should advise her to consider bowing out gracefully”

This presumes that said senior advisor doesn’t care about a continued paycheck and/or has lined up a spot on another campaign.

I’ve watched a bunch of clips of this woman, including her latest dear-in-the-headlights moment with Anderson Cooper.

My take is that she’s not very bright. Open mouth; blah, blah, blah; say nothing.

I’s love to watch Trump and Harris debate. My guess is that she was never challenged really hard in a conversation/encounter in her academic/professional life. Trump would mop the floor with her.

Then, of course, he would be accused of being a racist, misogynistic bully. Can’t win.

T

Being black and female isn’t enough to get what she wants?
What kind of racist misogynist made that rule? I’m triggered or something.

Willie: It must be hard for you at work.
Kamala: Because I am black and a woman?
Willie: No, because you are stupid.

(Apologies to Raylan and Rachel on Justified)

Unlikable, dishonest, phony, corrupt, hypocrite, … What’s not to like for Democrat voters?

JackinSilverSpring | October 20, 2019 at 1:45 pm

She needs to stay in the race to drain as much money as possible from DemoncRat contributors.

When millions of votes are needed, knee pads are just not enough!

Perhaps a talent and/or a charisma transplant would help? No!

How do these people get through law school?

Maybe we need to elect a nurse

Rick in reply to gonzotx. | October 20, 2019 at 5:56 pm

Law school is affirmative action, and the California bar constantly dumb’s down its tests and grading standards.

Fluffy Foo Foo | October 20, 2019 at 2:18 pm

What is amazing is she was the elite media and big tech candidate. She was going to be their puppet.

What imbeciles!

This fool went after Biden when she should have gone after Warren.

Long bus ride home. But she is used too buses, apparently. The only school kid who ever rode one, she says.

The Friendly Grizzly | October 20, 2019 at 2:59 pm

How out gracefully? I don’t think she’s capable of any form of grace. Or charm.

No mention of the fact that it was Tulsi who initiated the rapid fall of Harris from relevance. Tulsi eviscerated her in the second debate and Harris has never recovered.

Tulsi can’t win but she has demonstrated the will and ability to take on some sacred cows in the D establishment. First Harris, most recently Hilary and soon I hope she will do the same to Warren.

Here I am on my other browser where I can see all the links.

Warren dismissed Harris not because of whiteness, but because Harris is not a first-tier candidate! You’re tied with Gabbard! Similarly in the first debate, when Harris attacked Biden (and the press said she won the exchange, which she really didn’t), Biden replied without even looking at her.

I saw elsewhere there’s another poll saying Gabbard won the debate, but now she’s only at 2% in this poll.

O’rourke at 0 %. Ouch.

Good old “Headboard Harris.” I see Beto the Brainless is under 1% in Iowa.

I wonder if “someone else” is code for POTUS Trump?

Seriously? She’s been in a crater ever since she announced. No person takes this fake black street walker seriously.

WOW, she discovered she can’t spread her legs wide enough to engulf the voters???

BobInBridgeport | October 21, 2019 at 12:17 pm

I would think that most of the 12 Dems’ who were in the most recent debate would have “tanked in Ohio”, since I do not believe that Ohioans believe in “guaranteed wages for no work”, gun grabs, or free college for those who have already quit high school and have 6 kids out of wedlock!!!

well, if she bows out she’ll definitely have more time to spend with jussie–perhaps put together another faux crime

Kamala is a compendium of negative qualities. She is the most unlikeable candidate since Hillary, She has the (lack of) moral principles of Hillary. And she has the same obsessive-compulsive ambition of . . . Hillary.

People think she is the female version of Barack Obama, but the only thing she has in common with him is she is multiracial but calls herself black but none of her genetic or cultural heritage is ADOS.

Kamala Harris is the black version of Hillary. She even has her own Willie problem. Hillary has Slick Willie, while Kamala has Willie Brown.
