Post-Debate Poll: Beto Finds Out Gun Grabbing Does Not Work, Biden Maintains Lead

Former Vice President Joe Biden maintains his strong lead in the latest Morning Consult poll. This is the first one since the third Democratic debate last week.

Biden holds on at 32% with Sen. Bernie Sanders in second place at 20%.

Robert O’Rourke spent the debate and the time since then promising to grab our AR-15s and AK-47s. He found out the hard way that us Americans want to keep our guns because he barely moved in this poll.

On the bright side, O’Rourke, you went up one percent! Only 3% of the respondents chose O’Rourke in the Morning Consult poll after the July debates. Now he’s at 4%!

However, it also shows this tough guy, far-left attitude is not working.

No, you’re not, bro. Americans do not want to give up their guns. I know for sure I will never give up my AR-15. His name is George…George Washington.

Allah Pundit at Hot Air brought up O’Rourke dropping swear words on TV as a way to show his passion for his beliefs. Guess people don’t like that as well! If you follow me on Twitter you know I have a foul mouth. But when I’m in public I watch my mouth because I know a lot of people do not like that language.

Biden’s numbers have not changed much. He received 32% of the voters after the second debate at the end of July. He has 32% now. It looks like his gaffes and weird moments during debates (like losing his teeth and telling us to keep on our record players) have not harmed him.

Do you need more proof? Biden’s number went up among the Democratic primary voters in early primary states. 34% of those voters chose Biden. Sanders landed in second at 21% while Warren held onto third with 13%.

The reality is the race is between Biden, Sanders, and Warren. The others need to suck it up and drop out.

Morning Consult also asked voters about their second choices. All of them chose the top three.

  • Biden supporters: Sanders
  • Sanders supporters: Biden
  • Warren supporters: Sanders
  • Harris supporters: Warren
  • Buttigieg supporters: Warren

I imagine the media will gush over Warren since she went two points since the first Morning Consult poll of this month (Sept. 2-8). She’s also the only candidate who had any kind of significant change in her polling numbers.

RealClearPolitics has Biden ahead overall +9.2. He has topped off every poll so far this month except when he tied for first with Warren in the Economist.

This idiot saying it doesn’t concern me in the least. Politicians of all stripes say stupid crap all the time while trying to set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd of all the other politicians.

Then, all the rest of the politicians either hop on-board or run-away from the idea and the cycle repeats.

What concerns me is the reaction of the crowd. Those are the radical True-Believer supporters of these Fascist-Progressive Democrats. While some of the politicians may disavow their villiage idiot, they sure as hell heard that crowd.

They know they have to appease that crowd to both get the nomination AND to have a fair chance at relection.

They may run from confiscation now, but the radical True-Believers in their party have latched onto it and will never let it go. Fascists never do.

    Skateboard Beto acts more like he is running for student council rather than a presidential nomination. He is a man-child who never made it beyond adolescence. You remember Beto from high school – the rich boy who thinks he’s 10 times cooler than he actually is.

O’Rourke’s main problem is that his ban on guns (eerily similar to what the Nazis did in Germany and occupied Europe) is no different from other Democrats.

Whenever I, or others, object to “registration” or bans on transfers, or other forms of “gun control” and firearms restrictions as steps toward an eventual complete prohibition and the confiscation that such would necessarily entail, we get told we’re paranoid and “nobody wants to take your guns.”

Well, perhaps we should consider these “nobodies”:

I recommend the FEC investigate this Beta O’Rouke guy. He’s an obvious anti-constitutional nimrod operating a ponzi scheme under the guise of a political campaign in order to scam people out of their non-refundable contributions.

    Sorry, that’s a silly suggestion. The FEC cannot investigate any such claim, even if it wanted to — and of course it wouldn’t want to, since half the commissioners are (and by law have to be) Democrats.

      The commission’s own mission statement declares it has broad authority regarding political campaigns: “The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is the independent regulatory agency charged with administering and enforcing the federal campaign finance law. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House, Senate, Presidency and the Vice Presidency.”

      It seems to me investigation is a necessary component of ‘administering and enforcing.’ Prosecution, of course, would fall to the DOJ.

      From FEC.gov: “Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. By law, no more than three can represent the same political party.”

      Currently, there are only three commissioners. The other 3 seats are vacant, so a simple majority moving on any issue is apparently not possible.

I have never heard him speak, but he looks as if he’s not that bright. So often he has that deer-in-the-headlights expression on his long, bony face. He’s out of his depth. I think that the Supreme Court should just come out and address the militia spoken about in the second means today, exactly what it meant when written. All able bodied men (women too) were considered to be in the local militia when the community required it, therefore, they were considered the protectors of the community and are legal to keep and bear arms. The fact that the text of the Second Amendment includes a nominative absolute, suddenly requires that 200 plus years of history should now be forgotten or trampled on is absurd. By the Supremes stating that the meaning is as was written at the time, most of the infringing that the various States have imposed would be immediately nullified.

    If you’re of “fighting age” and you’re not in the service then you’re considered part of the “unorganized militia”.

I’ve never really seriously considered buying an AR-15. They’ve always seemed overly loud, overpriced, and just not really worth it. Now Beto has convinced me I need to consider at least a budget model to keep in the gun safe and go out target shooting every once in a while.

Are we sure that Beto isn’t being funded by Colt and Winchester? Because he certainly is one of their better salesmen.

    I’ve been dealing with guns for thirty years, and in that time, the only people I’ve ever encountered who owned either an AR or AK pattern rifle bought it (1) to resell when it became harder to get and therefore more expensive, or (2) though uninterested now, if they thought they might possibly become interested in future, they’d best get one (or more) now while they’re still available. (Just for the record, I’m in the second group.)

    In both cases, it’s the government itself which is driving demand. So much for gun control.

      Many people use an AR as their home defense weapon of choice. It’s not my first choice, but it certainly works.

        It’d be my distant fourth choice. Third choice would be a carbine (smaller chassis and receivers, so easier to bring to bear in the close quarters of the home). Second choice a pistol or revolver. First choice a 12 gauge that can fire at least twice (so double barrel or pump). Preferably with a shortened stock to facilitate firing from the hip.

        Chief advantage of the AR is that it’s modeled after the M series, which means modular parts. So if you want to switch calibers and have some basic knowledge of firearm assembly, you only need to acquire the appropriate barrel and sometimes a different bolt carrier (most carriers work with different caliburs of similar size), instead of a whole different gun.

          I have all three available, but my favorite for a home defensive situation is my cannon – The semi auto 12 gauge that holds 10 2&3/4 shells. At the range, in 25 yard distant or less I can put all 10 shells on target in less than 10 seconds should the need arise. Since I have a bit if space with acreage and no children in the home now, 00 buck is my load. Next to me, for quick use, is a semi auto pistol, S&W40, 15 rounds per magazine. Or I could pick up a 9mm, 17 rounds.

          Generally speaking most anything will work if you learn to use it and practice occasionally.

          There is a reason home burglaries are generally done with no one at home in the USA Vs disarmed countries.

    The AR-15 is a great gun, depending on the manufacturer.
    Low recoil so anyone can handle it.

not my first choice, either–indoors and especially at night, shotgun is the way to go–if you ever have to step outside, and especially if you have to deal with folks you know are armed, AK is the weapon–just don’t believe in the .223/5.56 enough to own one

    Don’t need to go the AK route. Just upgrade to an AR-10. That’s same modular construction, similar builds, etc. but up in the 7.62 range.

    (Yes, the AK does have certain advantages. If that’s your need.)
