Trump v. The Squad – Who’s Winning? (Reader Poll)

Trump v. The Squad – Who’s Winning? (Reader Poll)

The outrage news cycle is following a familiar pattern.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmrfiDbQvbk

I was in D.C. speaking at the DOJ Summit on Combatting Anti-Semitism when the latest outrage news cycle took place … in D.C.

But I hardly knew it, I had other things on my mind.

Like getting a selfie in front of the White House.

I’ve only been in D.C. about a half dozen times in my life, and I have to say, standing with the White House behind me and the Washington Monument in the distance in front of me, still was moving.

As was walking and seeing the dome of the U.S. Capitol in the distance.

I’ll always be a tourist in D.C., someone just passing through, in awe of the majesty of the monuments and national landmarks.

So I mostly ignored the outrage cycle over Trump’s tweets about “The Squad” – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressly.

It all followed a familiar pattern: Trump says something outrageous, he’s accused of being racist (or a Russian spy), some Republicans declare he made a politically fatal error, he punches back some more, and a few days later the media is lamenting that Trump won the fight and is looking like a tactical genius. I don’t think it’s genius, more a gut sense.

The Squad hold loathsome views — AOC compares our struggle to deal with the humanitarian crisis at the border to the Nazis rounding up Jews into concentration camps, while voting against funding to take care of the very same people; Omar is a dyed-in-the-wool anti-Semite who plays victim when called out, but succeeds in normalizing her hate; Tlaib lied about her support for BDS to gain money from liberal J Street, and cries racism when people criticize her anti-Israel agenda; Pressley made an incredibly racist statement in response to Trump that she has no need for brown and black people who don’t hold brown and black views.

The Squad also uniformly are extreme leftists even by Democrat standards.

Senator John Kennedy summed what a lot of people are thinking about how Democrats have been boxed in:

So who won?

The emerging wisdom is that Trump is winning.

So let’s have a reader poll.

Who is winning the Trump v. The Squad feud?

Poll open until midnight Pacific Time on Thursday evening, July 18.

Where are da poll is?

Where is the actual poll? I don’t see a link.

But yes, despite the pearl-clutching from the likes of Shapiro and the Lido Deck crew, this was the battle of Agincourt with Pelosi playing the part of the French.

Pelosi was well on her way to freezing and marginalizing the ‘Squad’ among the Democrats.

Trump just forced them to PUBLICLY support them.

Less than 24 hours later how do they repay them?

Ohmar is ACTUALLY going to introduce BDS legislation to the House.

This was a slaughter.

I like your Agincourt analogy: Over-confidence. Mud. Blood. Some assembly required.

    Gersh204 in reply to Olinser. | July 17, 2019 at 9:53 pm

When the radicals pass a BDS plank at the July 2020 Democratic Convention it will be the end of the Democratic Party.

      Valerie in reply to Gersh204. | July 17, 2019 at 11:01 pm

If the Dems let them do that, or something equally stupid and evil, they deserve it.

They already put violence against American voters in their goddamn DNC playbook, and followed up by paying for it.

No wonder their private papers got leaked!

      clintack in reply to Gersh204. | July 18, 2019 at 9:53 am

      You would think.

But voting to remove God from the platform went fairly unnoticed.

They’ll have to be pretty explicitly anti-Semitic rather than just anti-Zionist to move the needle on American Jewish support for the left. Even “Kill All the Jews in the Holy Land” probably wouldn’t do it.

Edward in reply to Olinser. | July 18, 2019 at 9:37 am

Even Guy Benson has come around to recognizing that this move by the President was a clear political move which is working. Benson went from absolute condemnation a few days ago to appearing on FNC this morning to allow that it was a deliberate move which appears to be working, though he still thinks that the way the President implemented the move (language and terms) is open to debate.

Regarding the “outrage news cycle”, we need to find an icon like the old “rage boy” who became ubiquitous during the Arab Spring. It has to be a snapshot of the most outrageously angry face from one of the fake news media anchors. Or maybe Maxine Waters or Al Green. Someone who can become a visual representation of the insanity.

It could begin with Al Green’s call yesterday upgrade security for the Congress critters “cuz Trump!”

I believe Trump is correct in this, both from the perspective of foreign born citizens who accepted citizenship should also accept a positive view of the nation; and, from the perspective that merely calling out a person of color for their ideas and statements is not racism.

That said, there is an old saying,’When the sh#t starts to fly, everybody stinks.’

Trump.

This was like a pinball that keeps bouncing and racking up 6 figures of points unexpectedly.

Trump tweets.
The 4 night- Mares of the apocalypse resspond.
Pelosi instead of having yet another generic, tepid, condemnation of all things hateful goes after Trump.
She has an embarassing moment violating the rules (x2 or x3).
They manage to pass on party lines.
Then there are articles of impeachment – which FAIL BIGLY.

Who won? The one that didn’t self immolate with several large fireballs and are now a series of smoking craters.

The Democrats might go the way of the Whigs.

Trump dragged the Squad of Damaged Goods into Fight Club – except nothing stayed in Fight Club.

The Squad hates it. We love it. That in itself is a win, imho.

Black Americans say They are Winning (with President Trump).

Ann today in Greenville, NC before the Trump rally! She tells me that President @realDonaldTrump is making a difference for black Americans! She supports the President because he’s “draining the swamp” & “making the economy roar again”‼️

https://twitter.com/kayleighmcenany/status/1151603562419544064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1151603562419544064&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftheconservativetreehouse.com%2F2019%2F07%2F17%2Fpresident-trump-maga-rally-greenville-north-carolina-700pm-livestream%2Fcomment-page-1%2F%23comments

So I have a question about the 4 Horse(face)Women of the Apocalypse.

When they tell Pelosi to consider that they’re women of color before she addresses them, aren’t they asking for racist treatment? I.e., treat us with kid-gloves because we’re brown and we’ll yell “racist” if’n you don’t?

I don’t see the link for the poll either, using Chrome. Anyway I agree with the others. In a year nobody will be sure that what Trump said was racist — an ill defined term. But Ilhan Omar is going to visit Israel now, full of anger, and will associate the Dem party with Israel’s opponents and enemies there.

DJT isn’t so much winning it as crushing it. And the victims still don’t realize just how severely. Though Mystery Dem 1 is close when he says, “What the president has done is politically brilliant. Pelosi was trying to marginalize these folks and the president has now identified the entire party with them.” DJT tossed a hand grenade at the Gang of Four, and Pelosi caught it . . . and it’s now stuck to her hands. And the glue that made it stick was all that ostensibly silly window dressing which baited the press into pouncing—all that “go back to wherever” stuff. The press couldn’t resist jumping right into the briar patch once again, sure that they’d caught Orange Mad Bad dropping another clanger, and made it front page news . . . and now everybody on the planet has heard all about it. So Pelosi is stuck and we all know it.

The word “brilliant” is barely adequate.

Right at the peak of the Squad vs Pelosi grassfire for control of the House and during committee proceedings whose chairman is black, Trump throws gasoline on that fire. Imagine being Pelosi today. She lost control of the House yesterday. Probably permanently if she doesn’t figure out that she can’t beat both Trump and the Squad. The more she fights the former, the more gasoline he pours onto her existential problem.

    The man has a plan.

oldgoat36 in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 18, 2019 at 9:12 pm

Don’t forget that Trump, after having seen the House go to the National Socialists, talked up Pelosi and wanted her to be Speaker.
Trump has a way about putting those least capable into key roles, then works on tearing them up.
The thing is the left has become so unhinged they are absolutely predictable in their reactions to everything, and the Propaganda wing of the leftist Socialist party helps lead the charge of the dim brigade.
They fall right into because Trump lives in their heads 20/7, and they are going insane.

    rabidfox in reply to tom_swift. | July 18, 2019 at 2:54 pm

Don’t forget the voter fraud factor.

Look, it’s not even close. When the other side is a bunch of anti-American commies it’s really not hard. Just speak the truth. That’s all Trump has done. His brilliance is the timing, knowing when to say it / tweet it. The second part is also easy, just don’t back down. Pay no attention to the fake news.

Well done President Trump, well done!

I look forward to the publication of Pelosi’s obituary.

We have a situation where the leaders of the Democrat Party have publicly called for violence against other Americans, and online, there are regular calls for murder of various people, such as the President, ICE officers and police. We go down that road, and we will go the way of the Roman empire.

The Democrats are already very far along, with their explicit plans and payments to troublemakers for provoking incidents. The whole point of our system is to make decisions through shouting matches, not murder.

The last thing we need to do is start copying the Democrat Party on the national level.

          Valerie,

They’re testing our resolve. THEY created this situation, and they – like the fascists in iran – are trying to provoke negative reactions to use as propaganda.

That said, he did not threaten pelosi – he merely wished for her demise. Considering how she is supporting the most vile of Jew-haters and fascistic maniacs ever to hold high office, her demise would be a very positive development.

McCain’s demise was a very positive development, wasn’t it?

“I look forward to the publication of Pelosi’s obituary.”

Like Lord Voldemort, she isn’t human enough that she can die.

      Pelosi’s grave’s epitath:

“This is nancy pelosi’s grave. Her legacy is corrupton, omar, coretz, tlaib, MS-13 and obamacare. Please deposit any used toilet paper in the receptacle provided.”

2020 is Trump’s to lose, I think.

I believe I can make an argument that those tweets can reasonably be seen to be as close to “racist” as they could be without actually containing the word, “N….”. The point is, I don’t care. “Racist” has been so overused in media and to describe so many people that its conversational “shock value” is dropping like a stone.

The President’s tweet was an unforced error. Telling duly elected congresswomen to “leave the country and go home” or words to that effect when America IS their home country is a significant gaffe. It was gratuitous and unpresidential. Not good.

Then, when Senator Graham gave him a piece of excellent advice, (“Attack the policies, not the personalities. Aim higher.”)the President completely misinterpreted Senator Graham’s words when he responded to a question about the issue. Again, not good.

I’m a Trump guy all the way, but this is a battle for a fairly small part of the electorate, the uncommitted and unsure voters. Why say anything at all? The Squad is ripping the Democratic Party apart from within while America watches and listens transfixed. Leave ’em alone and let them get on with their excellent work.

Barry in reply to Hollymon. | July 18, 2019 at 1:21 am

    “I believe I can make an argument…”

Sure you can, which is why you didn’t?

“I’m a Trump guy all the way, but…”

    Sure, and always a “but”…

Hollymon in reply to Barry. | July 18, 2019 at 11:39 am

Barry, one of the reasons that the President’s 2016 victory was so stunning to many was that conventional wisdom had already installed Hillary in the office when reality walked up and whacked them in the face. A lot of voters found their hubris unpalatable and pulled the red lever- enough to, put him over the top.

My point is that overconfidence and the deliberate poking of bee nests is unwise. Trump has proved to be a skilled politician and a strong leader, but to raise his status to infallibility, smacks of the hubris that gave Hillary her well-deserved exit from the national stage. I want him re-elected.

Anyone who believes that he meant to tell these congressional whack-jobs to go home to their native states is deliberately misinterpreting the intent of his remarks. That was an unforced error.

The response to Lindsay Graham was another and completely inappropriate as well, trumpeting a misinterpretation of excellent advice which anyone with half a brain could see unless, of course they had already made up their minds, like you and me.

I live in Massachusetts where republicans face huge odds every election and where our votes are largely symbolic. We have a republican governor, who is probably the most moderate republican major officeholder in the country. Trump will not win in Massachusetts.

A lot of people cannot stand the President at a visceral, personal level. Others, like you, think that this guy can do no wrong. These votes are not in doubt. This election is about the votes which can still fall either way. The policy goals of the Squad offer ample opportunities for attack and he is doing a fine job of it. It is unwise to add gratuitous personal attacks to the battleground for the hearts and minds of the undecided electorate. It smacks of hubris.

There are ample examples in both literature and history of the effects of hubris on leaders and heroes. This election is as much about regaining the House and retaining the Senate as it is about the presidency. The districts which turned from red to blue in 2018 effectively de-railed his 2016 electoral mandate. These seats MUST be re-gained in 2020. Why tempt fate?

He shot himself in the foot, period. He needs to aim higher.

        Dear Hollymon,

Everything you wrote is wrong. You have no clue why Trump was elected. You have no clue why he will be re-elected.

I called the election long before anyone even thought he had a remote chance. This election? I’m not sure about it.

“Others, like you, think that this guy can do no wrong.”
Just pure BS. You have no idea what I think. No one, including this President is error free. This just isn’t one of them. As has been shown by any polling you wish to cite.

        Hollymon,

I don’t think you grasp the crafty and—really, manipulative—feature of DJT’s tactics here. His tweets are tailored to his targets, and worded in such a way that they’re guaranteed to swallow the bait.

      Hollymon in reply to tom_swift. | July 18, 2019 at 11:56 am

I understand that the President has successfully painted these freshman whack jobs for what they are and forced the Democrats into a trick bag nationally. The guy’s a great politician. My point is that he risks alienating swing voters at the local and congressional level. We need the House back as well as the presidency or else we will have to suffer Nagler, Schiff and Waters in positions of real power for another four years.

      I don’t want that.

Arminius in reply to Hollymon. | July 18, 2019 at 5:29 pm

Do you not know that DJT is willing to take risks? It’s what you need to do if you want to make great gains. I wasn’t originally a Trump supporter. In fact, I thought he was going to be a disaster. I was wrong.

One of the things I’ve learned to respect about him is his willingness to take on risk.

      Hollymon in reply to tom_swift. | July 18, 2019 at 7:37 pm

Well, Tom, the President took a giant step back from the unintended result of his “why don’t you go home” tweet today. GAME.

That is, of course, unless you believe that last night’s chant at his North Carolina rally (“Send her back. Send her back. Send her back.”) arrived magically from another dimension and was totally unrelated to his earlier gratuitous birdsong. SET.

Now go back and re-examine my initial response, or else I’ll just summarize it for you.

I am a strong Trump supporter who believes that the initial tweet could reasonably be interpreted as both racist and xenophobic, although I do not see them as so, per se and furthermore, I don’t care except…

I saw and continue to see an unforced political error. Attack the policies of these representatives. There’s ample fodder in their whacky rants for even the most gluttonous politician to use.

The response to Lindsay Graham was bad for two reasons. Trump missed the point of the senator’s admonition completely and publicly and… it was excellent advice in the first place. If the President somehow foresaw today’s headlines and welcomed them, then why did he make such a big deal about distancing himself from their natural result? He foresaw both the zig and the zag? Get real.

This election is about undecided and moderate voters. If the Republicans want to capture the trifecta in 2020, why piss off the undecideds?

      Match.

          ” You’re certifiable.”

One of the problems a certifiable Trump hater has is they are recognizable. One of the ways we recognize them are when they actually think Fox news supports Trump.

Of the on air shows we have the morning, Carlson, Hannity, and Ingraham. The rest of it is pretty much anti-Trump. But it’s hard to tell when you agree with the anti-Trumpers.

BerettaTomcat in reply to elliesmom. | July 18, 2019 at 1:15 pm

It’s pretty clear Trump was referring to them going back to their countries of ancestral origin; e.g. — Somalia, Palestine, somewhere in western Africa, and Puerto Rico/Spain/somewhere in western Africa. If one would make the same recommendation to Trump, his ancestral roots are Germany and the UK.

Most would agree the Squad’s ancestral countries are fecal pits (with perhaps the exception of Spain). But, Trump’s ancestral countries are fecal pits in the making. Elizabeth II should be beheaded for allowing the UK to be infested with wogs, especially the terror loving Islamic types. Merkel, via the EU, has a firmer grip on western Europe than Hitler had, at a lower cost in national blood and treasure, but she has doomed Germany and much of the rest of Europe to fecal pit status through her policy of unchecked importation of fecal pitters.

In short, I see nothing racist about telling someone who detests America enough to want to fundamentally communitarianize it to go back where he came from. Too bad there were no conscientious conservatives insisting the natural-born British East African do that in 2008.

zennyfan in reply to BerettaTomcat. | July 18, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Elizabeth II has nothing to do with the UK’s immigration policy. Also, wishing for anyone to be beheaded, even recognizing the hyperbole, isn’t a good idea in an era where beheading actually happens.

If Trump has used them to set up the Democrats, it shows why he’s the better choice, flaws and all. They are so angry and hateful and would not be surprised if they burn out like Beto, except they are more ruthless and willing to go down with the ship.

Let them rant and rave. It shows everyone what many have known for a long time, and that’s a good thing, for Trump and the rest of us that want America to prosper.

The Democrats are running on pure racism.

I’m of Italian ancestry. It’s not so much I’m proud of that as I am proud of my immediate ancestors who said, “F*** this one donkey village” and then risked everything to move to America.

So I can understand the motivation of the Mexicans and Central Americans. But my ancestors had to be inspected at Ellis Island before they were allowed in. I expect no less of them.

I am not so much proud that my family came from a one donkey fishing village in southern Italy, although I’m not ashamed of it. I’m neutral on the subject. It’s just a fact. What I am proud of, as I look on my great grand Uncle’s discharge certificate for the Great War, WWI, is that we became Americans.

I realize I should probably stop, but I just can’t. Let me say up front that Ilhan Omar has a nice smile. If she was wearing a MAGA hat and went to Catholic school the WaPo would call it a smirk. But I’ll call it what it is, a smile. This will be important later.

America has never been perfect. Nothing created by humankind has ever been perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect. In 1891 eleven Italian immigrants were lynched in New Orleans. What I understand is the largest mass lynching in U.S. history. SHOCKA! The KKK didn’t like us greasy olive-picking southern European Papists any more than they liked blacks or Jews.

But do Italians whine about it? No, we hold Columbus Day parades in honor of this country.

I have no problem with a President saying, “If you don’t like it, get the f*** out.” To anyone, especially a woke woman of color.

My family, having finally found a country worth fighting and dying for, have done exactly that since they got off the boat. I have the documentation to prove it. And if some refugee turns out to be an ingrate that just makes me want to slap the evil smile off her face.

Your story of how assimilation happened for your family is how it should be now. It is how our immigration program was able to integrate those who wanted to become part of the “American Experience”. What we are seeing now is just a path for democrats to expand a path to a hierarchy of globalization of America to be a portion of a “one size fits all” power brokers for a global economy. Orwellian concept as it is, but one the democrats subscribe to, self-serving as they are.

In aviation terms we’d say Trump is inside his adversary’s OODA loop. Which he most definitely is.

OODA stands for observe, orient, decide, act. If you can do that faster than your adversary you win dogfights. Or knife fights. Physical or political.

Trump clearly knows this. The clueless Dems don’t even know they are in a knife fight yet. They’ll find out, when it’s too late.

Trump has put a stake into the heart of the word “racist” and killed it, so it will never have the power to herd us into predatory progressive policies ever again.

And Gibsons has attached a number to the word.

Yesterday, a Republican, black, female, Jamaican immigrant challenger emerged to take on AOC in the Bronx. How long before we hear the “N” word start flying? I think Trump is going to make big inroads into the black and Hispanic vote before this is over.

snopercod in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 18, 2019 at 8:06 am

I am torn. AOC is probably the best thing that has happened to the Republican party since…well…EVER! She’s pretty much single-handedly destroyed the image of the Democrat party…among sane people, anyway. Do we really want her to leave?

For a communist to sneak in and then get blasted out of office after just one term? There is nothing to be gained by Dems nor Reps in keeping a certified and communist with serious global funding around.

Don’t you want to see her replaced by a black Republican immigrant woman? THAT will be the gravestone to AOC’s brief career. Proves forever that absolutely all of her ugly charges against America are wrong. Exclamation point!

Answer: Yes we want her defeated in the election.
Reasoning: She’s never going to leave. She’s going to have her whining face on every TV and blog she possibly can, making crazier and crazier statements every day. If she’s extracted from the House, the Republicans get the positive of having her greedy little hands pried away from the levers of power with the additional positive of her whining and shrieking on the sidelines like the diva she is, ‘representing’ the Democrat party in her own way.

        Win-Win.

he needs to do the same to ‘white supremacist’ and a few others the press and others are going to drag out.

One day AOC may realize she is white. She is simply Spanish. She is named after Cortez. A slave owner and the first European colonialist in America. He killed thousands of Indians (albeit with the help of allied tribes). And then he colonized the New World.
She is whiter than most Americans by a stretch. She is as white as Warren.

Milwaukee in reply to puhiawa. | July 18, 2019 at 2:10 am

When Cortez reached the New World, he burned his ships to help inspire his men to follow him.

When they left the beach, he had 150 men. When he reached what is now Mexico City, he had 15.000. The Aztecs, who practiced live sacrifice to the tune of 15-25 thousand a year.

Yeah, that nasty White culture did make a difference.

She’ll probably change her name to something islamic.

Close The Fed | July 18, 2019 at 12:02 am

This discussion about “death” of the dem party omits a very important aspect. In our country, the two major parties in I believe every state, have protected the ballot from other parties. The effort for a third-partier or an independent to get on ballots is overwhelming.

So if you think, since so few people vote in primaries, it’s disadvantageous to Americans to only have, effectively, one party, the GOP, if the dems continue to burn.

The GOP do not have any reason to arrange for a different, second party to get on the ballot.

So, which normal Americans are going to brave the depravity of the dem elite and engage IN the dem party, in order to save this place on the ballot that we desperately need to push the GOP into pro-American positions?

This is a serious question, which actually is being answered by our polar opposite, Saikat Chakrabarti. He wants to leverage his efforts to get more and more communists into Congress. He can do it. There are enough crazy Steyers out there to help, they can do it.

So, who’s going to dive into the stench of the current dem party to drag it back to sanity and save America?

If you think I’m wrong on this, I’m willing to listen, but I haven’t read a shred of analysis on this anywhere. The GOP isn’t going to be consistently pro-American without competition. No way.

It is extremely difficult to impossible to detect any meaningful difference between the Democrats and the GOPe.

tom_swift in reply to Close The Fed. | July 18, 2019 at 12:26 pm

The difference is DJT himself. Without him, the R’s are just another crappy bunch of incompetent politicians.

This is why the D’s are making a colossal blunder when they pat themselves on their backs for winning the House in 2018. They think they have some sort of “momentum” for bigger things in 2020. But all they showed last year is that the R’s are indeed a feeble bunch . . . when DJT isn’t running.

Valerie in reply to Close The Fed. | July 18, 2019 at 2:23 pm

I keep waiting for the Dems to clean house and engage in some candid introspection, like the Republicans, the last time the Repubs were thrown out into the wilderness.

    No such luck, so far.

Instead of noticing that DJT’s policies are the policies they ran on and failed to implement over the last 30 years, they have been spinning off into highly unpopular radicalism. None of this makes much sense to me.

Why can’t they do what the Repubs did?

And why in the name of all that is holy, have they embraced violence against Americans as a political tactic?

America, love it or leave it isn’t racist, because it applies to all races. It isn’t xenophobic because it applies to American citizens. TDS got the better of the dems/msm, and now they are the boy who cried wolf.

These 4 pieces of garbage and the human debris behind them are an existential threat to every Jew world.

Nothing less than their destruction will do.p

Gauging by the reactions I am hearing from my liberal friends, the past 2 days have been a tipping point. Even the inmates at the loony bin think these people are crazy. That House meltdown yesterday was the last straw. The impeachment motion was CRUSHED by “both” parties. And Trump is immediately out there holding a rally where we find the magic is still there.

Things are coming together. Suddenly, when I say “Imagine what it would be like if Hillary had won!”, it resonates. People are finally getting it. It isn’t about Dem vs Rep or lib vs con anymore. It’s about Trump vs anarchy, liberty vs totalitarian socialism and all of the hate that comes with it.

The opposite of being “woke” is being awake. People are finally waking up to the insanity surrounding them.

ScottTheEngineer | July 18, 2019 at 6:20 am

Any article that talks about a tweet or quote but doesn’t contain the tweet or video clip or even a link is crap.
The conversation isn’t about whether or not what he said is racist but how racist was it? I contend he didn’t say what he’s being accused of saying at all.
“If you don’t read the news you’re uninformed. If you do read the news you’re misinformed”

I think it is assumed that you can find the tweet yourself.

It appears that you did not read the Professor’s article. Seventh paragraph, under the third picture.

“So I mostly ignored the outrage cycle over Trump’s tweets about “The Squad” – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressly.”

The word “tweets” is in red and is a link to an article which has all of the tweets.

Valerie in reply to Liz. | July 18, 2019 at 2:27 pm

The Professor’s good about including the underlying links, and actually reading the quotes. It’s one thing that makes this site useful. The vast majority of articles fail to include or cite the real quotes, often because the author does not want the reader to know the true text.

I continue to be in awe of Trumps trolling ability. He’s way above the Grand Master level. I’m especially pleased that he doesn’t back down, grovel, and beg for forgiveness like typical republicans usually do. he doubles down!

Close The Fed in reply to snopercod. | July 18, 2019 at 5:59 pm

True. But I’m incensed today he said he “isn’t happy” about the chants in the crowd to send Omar back.

Eskyman in reply to Close The Fed. | July 19, 2019 at 12:09 am

Seeming to reject that chant has the effect of re-starting the discussion on all the #FakeNewsMedia sites, so it keeps the spotlight right where President Trump wants it.

He’s doing the Pied Piper bit to the “journalists” and they just. don’t. get. it. They all think they’re too smart to fall for such an obvious ploy, so they can’t help themselves!

President Trump is winning,he won’t have to campaign against Biden or who ever else the Commiecrats nominate,he has the squad to run against and they will assure him of reelection.

The correct answer is: Both.

President Trump is winning by casting all Democrats in the extremist mold — and stopping Pelosi cold in her efforts to make room for moderate Democratic Congressional candidates in moderate districts to separate themselves from the wing.

The Squad are winning by getting a ton of attention, becoming virtually untouchable on the left, and honestly had anyone even heard of the “other two” squad members before this week?

Who’s losing? Moderate Democrats. And possibly America. We really do need there to be two reasonable parties, by 2024 at least, so driving the Democrats off the cliff is a dangerous game, however much it will help for 2020. (See: MSM efforts to boost Trump in the 2016 primaries.)

The squad is NOT winning, they have been shown to be the corrupt antiAmericans they are and I think Cortez will lose reelection
Don’t know much about the Black” member, but the two Muslims are in heavy Muslim areas so probably safe

Might get muzzie Minnie on false application to emigrate.

I’ll note two things briefly. One, just from the messages from “the Squad” in the last 24 hours, they each think they are the political equals of Donald Trump, slugging against him toe to toe and coming off the victors. It is an interesting belief.

Two, politics is immersed in white lies, black lies, and endless statistics, so I refuse to get especially worked up over these four. I respect their right, and that of other Congress members, to spew lie after smear after calumny after false outrage after hypocrisy after tin ear and complete lack of any sense of irony. Speech and debate is their role. They are not unique in abusing it. Thus, I will remain focused on their policies…

There are enough democrats in the republican party to keep the democrats going.

Dems pretend to be moderates who care about the poor and down trodden people during election time. The truth is that they hold the same beliefs as the squad. Trump forced the Dems to show their true colors just in time for the next election.

DouglasJBender | July 18, 2019 at 12:42 pm

In the spirit of Democrat politics, am I permitted to vote multiple times, using various fake accounts?

The Squad! The Squad is always winning. Democrats need to promote The Squad 24/7!

Well, the Squad — or The Poseur Posse, or The Four Stooges, or whatever name one prefers — sure ain’t winning.

LookoutABear | July 18, 2019 at 1:21 pm

To the people above who think the tweet was wrong.

I’ve felt embarassed by plenty of Trump tweets, and it’s part of the reason i did not vote for him, voted 3rd party instead.

But I see nothing wrong with this sentiment.

If someone can do nothing but trash America, especially soneone with privilege like a hollywood actor or member of congress, what is wrong with pointing out they can leave? Why is that offensive? They are offending everyone else with their anti-american talk, but we aren’t allowed to offend them in anyway?

That is complete BS. We all know it. The left wants it so that it is un-PC to defend America but completely OK to trash it. Time to stop playing by their rules and take back the language before they finally get their way and turn the country into something we won’t like.

Also the tweet isn’t about the tweet. The tweet put Nancy into a bind. The tweet distracted the Dems from policy changes that Trump put in place.

Dumb question: Did Trump name anyone, or did he just refer to behavior?

rabidfox in reply to Petrushka. | July 18, 2019 at 3:09 pm

“Es zittern die morschen Knochen”
“Vorwärts! Vorwärts!”
“Panzerlied”

Close the Fed sez that the two parties in each state have closed the ballot to all other parties. It’s actually worse in California. Once they instituted the “jungle primary” system, where only the top two vote getters appear on the ballot at general election time, a California voter can now vote for Democrat 1 or Democrat 2. Sort of a dumb and dumber choice–but that’s what’s on offer.

I actually like the NY State system of multiple parties with cross endorsement allowed. In some states no cross endorsement is permitted- you get one ballot line, which for the most part dooms 3rd parties entirely.

I generally vote a straight Republican ticket. Using the Conservative line on the ballot. And I encourage others to do the same.

Another Voice in reply to gospace. | July 18, 2019 at 10:59 pm

As a New Yorker, it is one of the few redeeming features ofliving here. The ability to have a 2nd party endorsement on the ballot line is an opportunity to get through the election cycle.

Trump is losing because he allows them to set the debate topics.
He should simply ask: “So, do you have a written legislation proposal. I’d like to see it.”

BREAKING!

OMAR IS NOT HER REAL NAME
AND SHE IS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN –
THEN AND NOW STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“The proceeding information was given to me by multiple sources within the Minneapolis Somali community. The verifiable evidence corroborating their information follows below:

In 1995, Ilhan entered the United States as a fraudulent member of the “Omar” family.

That is not her family. The Omar family is a second, unrelated family which was being granted asylum by the United States. The Omars allowed Ilhan, her genetic sister Sahra, and her genetic father Nur Said to use false names to apply for asylum as members of the Omar family.

Ilhan’s genetic family split up at this time. The above three received asylum in the United States, while Ilhan’s three other siblings — using their real names — managed to get asylum in the United Kingdom.

Ilhan Abdullahi Omar’s name, before applying for asylum, was Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

Her father’s name before applying for asylum was Nur Said Elmi Mohamed. Her sister Sahra Noor’s name before applying for asylum was Sahra Nur Said Elmi. Her three siblings who were granted asylum by the United Kingdom are Leila Nur Said Elmi, Mohamed Nur Said Elmi, and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

Ilhan and Ahmed married in 2009, presumably to benefit in some way from a fraudulent marriage. They did not divorce until 2017…..

https://i2.wp.com/www.powerlineblog.com/ed-assets/2019/07/IlhanOmarAsylumDiagram-4-2.png?ssl=1

The authors of the article researched it and I believe their findings.

It’s not really a fair fight. PDJT is so far ahead of them it’s like a major league ball player playing against t ball children.
Mentally disabled little children.

Obama made perversion, fraud and treason ‘normal.’

Trump made outrage to perversion, fraud and treason ‘normal.’

I wonder why everyone is criticizing PDJT’s tweet. While inelegant, it is hardly something over which to lose ones mind. And the concept behind the tweet is valid. Simply stated show me somewhere where these insane ideas have worked. The criticize.

My reaction pleases no one, at least to judge by the reactions I’ve gotten from Faceboo correspondents. But here goes: It’s along the lines of “a pox on both their houses.”

(Those without adult attention spans can stop reading right now. The rest is aimed at the third digit of anyone’s I.Q.)

I will start by saying that I didn’t vote for Trump in ’16. Nor did I vote for The Shrew. I wrote in Vermin Supreme, the Vermont performance artist who promised a pony for every American, on the grounds that if only clowns were running I might as well vote for one who amused me.

On substance, such as there is, I find a lot more to agree with in Trump’s ideas than I did in The Shrew’s. But there’s a lot more to governing than bellowing a wish list. As an administrator, Trump is by far the worst I’ve seen. As a political leader, he’s a train wreck. God help us when (not if) we encounter a crisis that demands public unity and confidence in the executive.

Fast forward to the latest button-push. On the face of it, it was ignorant, for obvious reasons. I say it as no admirer (quite the contrary, trust me) of the Somali congresscritter from Minnesota. If he’d singled her out, I’d have cheered from the rooftops. But that’s not what it was about. Trump drew a line around “The Squad” and called for their deportation. I understand the figurative, but let’s just call that one “tone deaf.”

Racist? Of course not. Purposely ugly, crude, and divisive? You bet. Did the Usual Suspects do the idiot “racism” dance? You bet. That’s what it was all about. “Trolling” on a national scale.

Will it help get Trump re-elected? Being an economic determinist in these matters, I think the Fed’s meeting this month will matter much more. All this does is goose everyone, or at least everyone who’s still hooked into the pathetic circus.

So Trump wants to win ugly again. Set up his opposition as caricatures. Cleave the country down the middle, playing the Politics of Subtraction. Thanks so much.

The fantastic coverage of the Oberlin fiasco got my attention, so lately I’ve participated more, but I do not know the individual personalities. As for my politics, they’d best be described as “right-leaning independent, pissed off at everyone on the two coasts.”

RandomCrank, believe it or not, I am an actual Oberlin grad and needless to say, I am sick about what has happened to my alma mater. Not the award, which was richly deserved, but the campus climate, which was very liberal when I was there in the 70’s and has now turned completely toxic as the word “Oberlin” becomes synonymous with intolerance and anti- free speech. I commented extensively on the Gibson’s story.

We have similar politics, I suspect. I’m strongly pro-Trump, but the guy is not infallible. The Dems are way, way off the rails. The Kavanaugh hearings were a freakin’ disgrace.

My politics are, at root, between the 40-yard lines. Or that’s where they were. These days, the magnetic fields are in chaos. Presidents are as much shaped by their times as they shape their times, so I view Trump as both symptom and virus. If Hillary had won, I’d have seen it the same way.
