REPORT: Trump to Live-Tweet First Democrat Debate

Trump has mastered the art of flipping the news cycle on end with a single tweet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=decp4c0Qug8

The Democrats have no one to blame but themselves for this one.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, President Trump plans to live tweet the first Democrat presidential debate. Because everyone and their momma’s dog has decided to run for president in the Democrat primary this year, the debate will be spread across two days with 10 candidates participating each day.

More from the WSJ:

President Trump’s political advisers wanted to keep the president off of Twitter during the Democratic debates next week, arguing that there was an advantage in letting potential challengers attack one another without distraction.

…Mr. Trump, even from a remove, always promised to be the most important figure at the debate. Regardless of the specific debate questions, many Democratic voters will be listening for how each candidate plans to take down Mr. Trump.

Interacting in real time on Twitter would make Mr. Trump’s presence more tangible by directly inserting himself into the political conversation unfolding on stage. His posts could provide instant responses as well as insights into which attacks he feels most acutely.

Political advisers warned that planning for debate night remains fluid, and that Mr. Trump can change his mind. A campaign spokesman declined to comment.

Political advisers have long wanted Mr. Trump to tap the brakes on attacking Democratic presidential rivals, concerned that the president’s reactions would elevate contenders and provide some shield from what otherwise could be a bruising primary battle. Mr. Trump’s broadsides against former Vice President Joe Biden, for example, have coincided with polls that increasingly show voters view Mr. Biden as the most likely to deny the president a second term.

To tweet or not to tweet?

Trump has mastered the art of flipping the news cycle on end with a single tweet. He’s repeatedly used his personal Twitter account to bypass the media and communicate directly with the public. Irreverence to political orthodoxy is just one reason Trump remains popular among his base.

Quite frankly, it wouldn’t really be 2019, nor would it seem quite right if Trump didn’t engage with potential Democrat opponents directly instead of thru the “proper” channels.

Talk about sucking all the air out of the debate. This is genius.

The only downside I can see is the Dems won’t get to show off just how radical and leftist they all are.

    You said it.

    This is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of viewers will be viewing with President Trumps Tweets as commentary.

The WSJ is Wrong. All 20 Demimondes will be attacking President Trump almost non-stop!

Don’t worry Georgfelis. The Dems can’t help themselves. They’ll be putting on their Radical Vaudeville Show.

    This is very stable genius.

I expect that it is going to be very funny. It will destroy their tata.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to JusticeDelivered. | June 19, 2019 at 1:47 pm

Those Democrats at the “children’s table” the first night can’t understand the DNC is destroying their careers to carry out the DNC’s selection of the “chosen one.”

This will totally destroy their political careers so they can never run seriously for President again. But what’s bad about that? Snark.

GusPatriot in reply to georgfelis. | June 19, 2019 at 5:46 pm

Not sure I agree. They will definitely try. And even though Trump is going to own the overall, this crew can’t help themselves but to go down the trail for free-dumb voters.

Looking forward to his commentary!

Brilliant. This upsets the carefully planned and scripted moderator-DNC narrative. The DNC doesn’t want a internecine candidate slugfest.

The debate questions ARE the DNC’s 2020 platform and talking points. The debate won’t a debate, it’ll be a carefully staged infomercial for Progressivism. The answers are superfluous to the actual process – or at best just Asides to the Main Talking Points.

Trump tweeting during the debate disrupts the rhythm and meter of the performance. I’m curious what the set design will look like, too.

Take every political advisor that is telling Trump not to do this and fire them. They are the “above it all” idiots that have ruined the Republican party and likely our country.

I’m already laughing.

I was planning on ignoring the debate, because it is too early to mean anything. I will want DJT’s take on it, though.

It’ll be like he’s debating all the candidates at the same time they debate themselves. If they take the bait and start reacting, he’ll be able to get them off message in no time flat. And all done on their dime. Brilliant!

The man’s a bloody genius. He runs rings around the Washington pros without even getting out of his chair. I expect he’ll needle the Drats into going full communist/antisemite/Kill Whitey mode, and they’ll self-immolate right there on TV. Brilliant.

Every single one of them now has in their pointed vacuum filled heads, that Trump will be instantly responding to their commie bullshit.

Beautiful, Mr. President. Just beautiful.

This is a brilliant move by POTUS and provides an amazing opportunity for master trolling.

“Slow Joe´s answer sounded scripted. Did Donna Bazille give you the questions in advance, Joe?”

I really hope POTUS sticks it really hard to the ‘rats.

A great lesson in controlling the media:

Trump has them completely controlled the entire time, great use of body language.

I am going to have to get some beer for this one..

Between this and, his namesake sons speech; what an awesome week!

I am reminded of one of the Chinese 36 strategies for winning a battle:
“Delay entering the field of battle until all the other players have become exhausted fighting amongst themselves. Then go in full strength and pick up the pieces.”

Trump would be better off letting the Dems fight it out and rake the muck onto each other, rather than to keep reminding them of their common cause to defeat Trump. But I think the chances are slim to none that Trump would stand by silently while the Dems try to outdo each other in bad-mouthing Trump.

VaGentleman | June 19, 2019 at 4:09 am

I love it!!! Not just commentary, but he can ask questions: Why didn’t Bernie ask Pocahontas xxx? Of course, the game plan is to get the weakest candidate nominated.

clayusmcret | June 19, 2019 at 6:45 am

I remember when each side quietly took a backseat during the debates and the conventions. Republicans would have theirs and democrats would remain quiet in the background. Democrats would have their and republicans would do the same. Then, 4-5 elections ago, democrats threw this gentleman’s agreement in the toilet and started attacking republicans throughout their debates and especially throughout their conventions.

My attitude now is, fine. You (democrats) took the gloves off and smacked republicans square in the face with it. Now it’s the republicans turn to reciprocate. Here’s to a rowdy good time.

the Dems chose their primary moderators
the Dems chose to the Reps primary moderators
the Dems chose the General Election moderators

It would be entertaining for once to watch someone point out the orchstration

I hope one of his tweets points out how the China tariffs are working YUGELY!

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-06-19/trade-war-rages-apple-plans-shift-30-production-outside-china

This is a permanent shift out of China being led by Apple to be surely followed by many others. It’s not about the tariffs so much but about China itself. It’s not safe there and the domestic market for non-Chinese products is being squeezed out by the “open market” government.

That’s how modern communist-style mercantilism works so foreign companies are opting to leave while they still can.

@OldProf2 there’s definitely value in that, but it’s predicated on your enemies actually fighting and exhausting each other. For the DNC debate, it’s going to just be a bunch of softballs because 1) they’re all “on the same side” at the end of the day (don’t get me wrong, each and every one of them would slit their own mother’s throat if it got them the White House, but they’d all rather have any one of them in office over Trump), and 2) they don’t want to back themselves into a corner just yet on policies. This early in the election cycle, they can’t afford to attack another Dem’a policies, those are the closest ones to their own and the most logical ones to reach to when pandering to different audiences. It’s hard to advocate for forgiving student loans if you just called Warren a dingbat for that idea two weeks ago.

Normally, this debate would be like the clone debate from Futurama. “I say your 3% uranium tax goes too far.” “And I say your tax of 3% on uranium doesn’t go too far enough.” With Trump tweeting, however, he’ll be providing live direction to get them to actually start engaging. His comments will provide the blood in the water to make them start attacking the one they consider the weakest link. Especially since the standard Dem MO is to double down in the face of criticism, each time he tweets they’re going to stomp on the gas and go harder and faster left. Hell, if AOC was on stage, by the end of the night they’d be advocating for taxing doctors and lawyers and giving it to McDonald’s burger flippers so that they have the same wages.

He could do this ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ style. Silhouetted, sitting in front of a movie screen of the dem debate with a sidekick or two, making fun of the candidates as they spew their nonsense. Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson could be the sidekicks, they are both smart and quick witted.

At War With HOA in reply to CKYoung. | June 19, 2019 at 2:38 pm

Rush could also be good. Very quick witted.

Valerie in reply to At War With HOA. | June 19, 2019 at 6:58 pm

I have to hand it to Rush. He sits in a little studio, reads the newspaper, and pretends he has a research assistant. He clearly makes real money at it because he is syndicated, and he has influence with an amazing reach. I don’t have to like him to admire that kind of creativity.

2nd Ammendment Mother | June 19, 2019 at 9:55 am

Just think about the havoc this little announcement is setting up.
Trump just moved into every single one of their heads to live rent free and is messing up their carefully scripted non answers and speeches. They will likely spend enormous energy worrying and planning how they’ll answer him… and jumping to even more extreme positions in reaction.

MSNBC made itself the exclusive network to broadcast the freak show.

Oh, and candidates are bound to be interviewed only by MSNBC up until 3 hours AFTER the event, so Trump´s tweets will be a mine gold.

That´s Democrats idea of a free press.

Eskyman in reply to cucha. | June 19, 2019 at 4:54 pm

Yeah, I was going to watch at least some of this Dem clownshow, especially after I heard Trump was going to live-tweet it, but I cut the cable years ago & wouldn’t watch MSNBC if you paid me.

Too bad C-Span won’t be carrying it, that’s been a great site for watching things that the alphabet channels want to spin. I wonder how this will affect the numbers watching? Badly, I hope!

Too bad President Trump is a teatoataler, I might pay to see a drunk blog of the Dems/Progs during their debate.

What that man can do with 280 keystrokes is a thing of beauty.

Trump just said on Hannity that this report was fake news, he’d never thought of it. But now, he is warming up to the idea!
