Newly Released Documents Shine Brighter Light on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Alleged Immigration, Tax Fraud

Thanks to diligent conservative journalists, we’re much closer to finding out much-needed answers into whether or not a United States congresswoman engaged in tax and immigration fraud.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kywXardsyY

Earlier this month, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) found herself in hot water with the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board after an investigation into alleged campaign finance irregularities found multiple instances of violations.
To recap:

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., repeatedly violated state rules when she used campaign funds to pay for personal out-of-state travel as well as help on her tax returns and must reimburse her former campaign committee nearly $3,500, Minnesota campaign finance officials ruled Thursday.

The Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board said the first-term congresswoman also must pay the state a $500 civil penalty for using campaign money to travel to Florida, where she accepted an honorarium.

The report also revealed information far more damaging to Rep. Omar than campaign finance violations. Again per Fox News:

Additionally, conservative commentators pointed out that the Board’s report revealed Omar and her current husband, Ahmed Hirsi, filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015, when Omar was reportedly married to another man. Omar engaged in a civil marriage with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, and the couple apparently separated in 2011 without formally petitioning for divorce until 2017.

PJ Media’s David Steinberg, who has been reporting on this case for three years now, wrote a lengthy thread on the board’s findings when they came out, noting the report may have confirmed Omar is guilty of multiple felonies:

Read the full thread he wrote after the report was released here.

Who is Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the man she was married to at the time she and Ahmed Hirsi filed joint tax returns?

According to Powerline’s Scott Johnson, Elmi is alleged to be Omar’s brother. Johnson, whose tenacious reporting on this issue since 2016 has been vital to keeping this story alive, first wrote about the allegation in August 2016 (note: the links in his post no longer work and were not included below):

A reader has written us to point out that the Somali website Somalispot posted information last week suggesting Omar’s involvement in marriage and immigration fraud. The post notes that Omar married Ahmed Hirsi in 2002. Hirsi is the father of Omar’s three children.

[…]

The post further notes that Omar married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, implying that the latter marriage assisted his entry into the United States. Her brother was a British citizen. “As soon as Ilhan Omar married him,” the post continues, “he started university at her [a]lma mater North Dakota State University where he graduated in 2012. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Minneapolis where he was living in a public housing complex and was later evicted. He then returned to the United Kingdom where he now lives.”

Let me note here that Omar’s marriage to her brother, if it occurred in fact, is illegal under Minnesota law. I believe it would be void ab initio, as though it never occurred. If it occurred, I infer that it must have taken place for dishonest purposes.

Any such second marriage might be bigamous as well as fraudulent.

[…]

The Somalispot post has been taken down. […] Comments on the Somalispot post suggest that the information is something of an open secret in the Somali community. Inputting the name Ilhan Omar, I have confirmed both marriages as noted in the Somalispot post via the online Minnesota Official Marriage System.

Johnson wrote much more this month on questions surrounding Omar’s marriages and tax filings, and the Star Tribune’s appalling coverage of the story, in a series of posts titled “From the Mixed-Up Files of Rep. Ilhan Omar” – the first post of which is here. In his third post, we learn more about her relationships with both Elmi and her current husband Hirsi (bolded emphasis added by me):

How about Omar’s wedding and marriage to husband number 2? Here I believe we have something of a mystery. Omar and Elmi are said to have married in 2009. Omar was 26 and Elmi 23 at the time.

Thanks to the campaign finance board investigation, we know that Omar was still married to Elmi when she filed joint tax returns with Hirsi in 2014 and 2015. Omar herself seems to have treated her marriage to husband number 2 as a sham. While still married to Elmi, she had a third child with Hirsi.

In his second post on the issue, Johnson notes how Omar’s campaign committee formed a crisis team in 2016 after he first reported on the possibility she had been married to two people at the same time, with one of them being her brother. He also points out how the findings from the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board earlier this month included emails submitted to the board by Omar’s team that suggested they were trying to get local media figures to suppress the story back in 2016:

Docket number 35 of 212 filings in the campaign finance board case comprises the emails produced by the Omar campaign committee to the board. They open a window onto the close relationship between the Democratic campaign operatives and the Star Tribune.

[…]

Among the players in the emails exchanged are campaign spokesman Jean Heyer (whom I originally called for comment in August 2016), attorney and crisis committee member Carla Kjellberg, and [crisis manager Ben] Goldfarb. The documents show Goldfarb’s work on a statement that was to be the last word and spare Omar the difficulty of addressing the facts herself.

When local political commentator/publisher Blois Olson cited the August 2016 Power Line post and referred to Power Line as “a trustworthy conservative news source” in his daily newsletter, Goldbarb advised: “Someone should reach out to talk off the record [with Olson] and shut it down with him as we do with the Strib” (page 22).

In light of the report’s conclusions, and of Johnson’s relentless campaign to utterly shame the Star Tribune into doing some actual investigative journalism into this case, the paper published a report over the weekend detailing their findings:

Since the recent findings of the campaign finance board that discovered Omar had improperly used campaign money to pay a lawyer to fix her tax filings, the Star Tribune searched public records — including available databases, the marriage and divorce filing, business licenses, university records and other documents — and could find little publicly available information about Elmi. The search of records could neither conclusively confirm nor rebut the allegation that he is Omar’s sibling.

[…]

The Star Tribune has sought to authenticate some of the most egregious allegations, using public records and available social media posts, which make up the bulk of the case against her.
Some of the original social media accounts linking Elmi to Omar after their split in 2011 appear to have been removed, and documents verifying the family relationships of refugees from war-torn countries with limited government record-keeping are notoriously hard to obtain, even by U.S. immigration authorities.

What did they expect to find at this stage? They waited three years to dive deeply into this story, and only did so thanks to being embarrassed by new media writers like Johnson. Of course a lot of formerly publicly available bits of information are going to mysteriously disappear during that time frame.

In his commentary on the Strib’s piece, Johnson points out what their story really revealed:

In their Ilhan Omar story today, Patrick Coolican and Stephen Montemayor refer repeatedly to Power Line as conservative. Let it be noted, however, that their story tacitly reveals the Star Tribune to be a pillar of Minnesota’s leftist/progressive establishment.

On top of all this, an intriguing new report from the Daily Caller indicates that Omar may have been lying about knowing the whereabouts of Elmi for years:

Rep. Ilhan Omar swore under oath in a 2017 divorce filing that she hadn’t seen her husband Ahmed N. Elmi in six years and didn’t know anyone who might be able to locate him — yet he appears to have designed a website for Omar’s sister this year, according to data hidden in the source code of that website.

The Democratic Minnesota congresswoman swore that she had not been able to locate the man she married — who the Minneapolis Star Tribune says may or may not be her brother — since 2011. She swore she didn’t know the names of anyone in her husband’s family and that the two had no mutual acquaintances who might know how to contact him.

Writer Luke Rosiak also tweeted more about the findings:

This story is a tangled web, to be sure, but because of the diligent investigative work done by conservative writers like Scott Johnson and David Steinberg, we’re closer to finding out much-needed answers into whether or not a United States congresswoman engaged in tax and immigration fraud.

Stay tuned.

A familiar refrain returns …. LOCK HER UP!

She could occupy a cell with Hillary.

    A slight modification:

    Send her back!

    Send her back!

(She was a refugee in the early 90s and there has been a considerable passage of time and she has citizenship. I don’t know when she became a citizen or whether a conviction at this point in time relative to naturalization would allow deportation. It may be too late.)

There is no reason to suspect there was anything fraudulent about her naturalization, so she’s a citizen and there is nothing that can be done about it. US citizenship, once legitimately obtained, cannot be revoked, for any reason.

Deport her Dumb ass back to Shitolia

mens rea –

Sucessfully prosecuting her will be difficult – especially to overcome the mens rea hurdle – Quite frankly, she is too stupid to know she committed a crime.

You would think she would be the most grateful person on the planet.

You would think that but only because you’re not of the Muslim mindset. Their Qur’an teaches them that Muslims are the best of peoples (Surah 3,110) and that non-Muslims are the most vile of creatures (Surah 5,60*, among others), and that non-Muslims exist wholly to support Muslims.

In other words, Omar and Muslims generally believe that we should be fooled and deceived if that assists Muslims and the cause of Islam.

Islam’s a real wacko system for sure, but that’s what we’re dealing with.

*5:60, Then say to them: ‘Shall I tell you about those whose retribution with Allah is even worse? They are the ones whom Allah has cursed, and who incurred His wrath and some of whom were changed into apes and swine, and who served the false deities. Such have an even worse rank and have strayed farther away from the right path.

Arminius in reply to pfg. | June 24, 2019 at 7:53 pm

Excellent points, pfg. I can only add that in Surah 60 ayah 4 Allah commands Muslims to follow Abraham’s example when he declares that there is “animosity and hatred forever” between Muslims and non-Muslims, in this case the non-Muslims are Abraham’s own family and he declares his eternal hatred directly to his father’s face, until the non-Muslims believe in Allah alone.

In several ayat (verses, the plural of ayah) in Surah 9 Allah commands Muslims to make the lives of non-Muslims a living hell, that they are the instrument of Allah’s wrath in this life. And in 3:28 Allah commands Muslims to NEVER have take non-Muslims as friends. Non-Muslims, particularly Christians and Jews, who reject Allah AND his messenger Muhammad (it’s a package deal) are Allah’s enemies and Allah hates them and Muslims are commanded to hate them as their own enemies. So how can a Muslim be a friend with a non-Muslim. Whoever does that has turned their back on Allah and committed apostasy (“And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah”}. Muslims can pretend to be friends with non-Muslims if they feel the need to deceive them to protect themselves or the Muslim community. But according to one of Muhammad’s companions as quoted in the commentaries of ibn Kathir this is simply a façade. “We smile in the faces of some people, but in our hearts we curse them.”

Muslim men are allowed to marry non-Muslim women as long as they’re of the “Ahl al Khuttub” (“People of the Book, primarily Jews and Christians) but unless they convert to Islam the husbands must not-only hate these women in his heart he must make sure they know he hates them. I can cite numerous fatwas that make this point.

You actually expect Ilhan Omar to be grateful to us “filthy Kuffar?” You’ve never read a translation of a Friday sermon on the subject I take it. No matter how often we intervene in conflicts on the side of Muslims, or how much aid we send to Muslims after natural disaster, they are constantly reminded they are supposed to hate us. Their religious leaders remind them that according to their fabricated historical narrative non-Muslims never act out of a spirit of charity, never do anything in good faith, but are always acting with ulterior motives and trying to deceive Muslims.

According to one hadith while on their way to visit Muhammad, the Christians of Najran (a region on the Arabian peninsula now a part of Yemen) are marching along when their Bishop stops them and lets them in on “the truth” (according to the ahistorical narrative that Muslims later made up and claim is actual history.

The Bishop says, “Understand we know this man is a true prophet, but when we get there we have to reject him.” The rest of his party is stunned and demands to know why they have to reject him if he is a true prophet. “The Byzantines pay us a lot of money,” the Bishop says.

When we send aid to Pakistan after an earthquake or to Indonesia after a Tsunami it only means we are up to no good. The Quran teaches that us non-Muslims pretend to be friends of Muslims, but we’re really trying to corrupt them so they’ll be like us.

So now take a fresh look at Miss Mogadishu Mile 2017 and it all makes sense.

Arminius in reply to Arminius. | June 24, 2019 at 8:26 pm

Whenever Ilhan Omar says or tweets something stupid like, “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby,” keep the hadith about the Christians of Najran in mind. She was saying that the “Israel lobby” is only in it for the money (Benjamins = $100 bills). Nobody in Congress, Jew or Gentile, would ever support Israel unless they were paid by the “international bankers” to do it.

Just like the Christians of Najran would reject a true prophet as long as the Byzantines paid them enough. All of us; Jew, Christian, atheist, agnostic, etc., would support the Islamic cause and in fact we’d all become Muslims if we hadn’t already sold our money grubbing souls to the highest bidder.

As an aside, immigration fraud is extremely common among Somali “refugees.” And prudence demands that we presume that about all “refugees” that are from other Muslim majority countries.

A few years ago the US accepted a Somali family consisting of husband, wife, and adult son from Somalia. Except, when the “son” was later arrested for providing or attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization DNA testing showed he wasn’t their son at all. They simply said he was. Probably he was a distant relative in the same clan.

I’m not saying the husband and wife (if that’s even true) knew his intentions. On the other hand had they known his intentions it probably wouldn’t have bothered them too much. Apparently this is how “refugees” have learned how to game the system and exploit the fact that we stupidly give preference to family members via chain migration.

We never check to see if the people who claim to be family actually are family. Pretty soon the whole village has moved to the US because one individual’s asylum claim was approved.

I know you mean well but it’s kind of insulting to read their filth on this site. We get it. They hate infidels and especially Jews but must we read their crap too? I just got a belly full of the top Sunni imam saying that women cannot leave home without permission and an escort and that their husbands can legally beat them. Does anyone here want to go into their love for farm animals? Please spare us.

re: “I know you mean well but it’s kind of insulting to read their filth on this site.”

You’re insulted and offended by the truth? A strange response for a ‘lover of freedom’. Soft words, Unicorns farting Rainbows and ‘everything is beautiful in it’s own way’ is over on the hippy-dippy progressive sites.

Sonebody illegally married somebody.

I’m sure Barr will get right on this as soon as he finishes charging Comey with perjury and McCabe with lying to the FBI

Edward in reply to MarkS. | June 30, 2019 at 9:19 am

It should properly be Infernal Revenue Special Agents investigating Omar’s allegedly fraudulent tax returns. Immigration fraud would be the purview of Homeland Security’s Customs and Immigration Services Special Agents. The Bureau would naturally join in if there was any credit to be gained for little or no work.

Mis Omar is going to ignore these accusations for as long as she can, then she’ll take to twitter crying about the “conservative journalists” who are picking on her because racism or something.
Then her defenders and apologists in Congress and the media will circle the wagons around her and nothing will happen to her.

I don’t know. Maybe the Dems shouldn’t have gratuitously insulted Bob Barr as some sort of a political hack who was operating as DJT’s personal attorney instead of the AG of the United States, that he had destroyed his reputation, has no credibility, etc.

If I were him, I love to indict her over the squeals of pain, gnashing of teeth, and howls of protest from the rest of the organized crime family aka the Democratic party. Just to prove that they are simply trying to protect criminals from the consequences of their action (such as illegal aliens as we are currently witnessing).

What are they going to say if he can get guilty verdicts in courts of law? I mean, I know they’ll say something but it will be incredibly stupid and unintentional comedy gold like the word salads vomited forth from AOC and the Oberlin College administration.

Which will further emphasize Barr’s points.

Edward in reply to Arminius. | June 30, 2019 at 9:25 am

Depending on what case is brought to an Assistant US Attorney, Barr may well encourage a strong effort to indict and take to trial. Of course Cortez will be right in there pointing out that the laws do not apply to special people like her and Omar because race or something.

The biggest problem might be getting any sort of conviction in either Minneapolis or DC.

A menage a trois with a bit of incest thrown in for good measure along with a boatload of taqiya.

Massinsanity | June 24, 2019 at 5:14 pm

This certainly is a sordid tale but perhaps the most sordid detail in the whole piece is the quote attributed to her “crisis manager” Ben Goldfarb regarding the Star Tribune.

“Someone should reach out to talk off the record [with Olson] and shut it down with him as we do with the Strib”

Basically stating that Omar has the Star Tribune in her back pocket.

Is there no one at the paper with any sense of responsibility or conscience or character? Will there be any discussion of this in senior management or the editorial board on the board of directors?

American Human | June 24, 2019 at 5:17 pm

Sorry, nothing will happen to her and she will be in Congress for a long time. She will retire a multi-millionaire just like all the rest.

Arminius in reply to American Human. | June 24, 2019 at 9:14 pm

I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you. Or anyone else in the, “She’ll get away with it; they always do” crowd.

It always struck me as a huge mistake to take the swamp creatures word when they rally around one of their own and sing their praises.

That happened when Obama nominated Holder to be his AG. Holder had been in private practice at a high-powered Washington D.C. law firm. And everyone in the D.C. legal community, Democrat and Republican alike, just couldn’t praise him enough. He was a boy scout according to them. Honest as the day is long, unimpeachable character, blah blah blah.

They were just swamp creatures lying on behalf of one of their own. And then Holder proceeded to lie his way through his confirmation hearings. When some Senators lazily asked him about why he did an end run around the established process to get Clinton to pardon Marc Rich he of course had no good answer (he couldn’t have told the real reason which is a lot of baksheesh changed hands) but he claimed he only did it because he didn’t know much about Marc Rich. He claimed, with a look of purest innocence on his face that had he known then what he knows now he never would have intervened.

Sincerity. If you can fake that you’ve got a bright future in D.C.

None of the Senators pressed him on this. First of all, that’s why there is a pardon process, so the people advising the President do know a lot about the individual requesting one.

Second and more importantly, Holder was lying to Congress. He did know a lot about Rich. In the mid-90s before Holder became the Deputy Attorney General he was the U.S. Attorney in Washington D.C. And in that capacity he headed an investigation and prosecution of a Swiss company that fraudulently obtained a government contract by concealing the fact Marc Rich was a part owner of the company and on their board of directors.

Companies owned and/or directed by fugitives from US justice are forbidden to obtain US government contracts.

When I say Holder headed the prosecution I don’t mean to imply he lifted a finger to do any actual work. But since the prosecution was successful he was always around to take credit for the work. And part of taking credit is that whenever there was a press conference or a press release in that high profile case, and there were many, it was Holder whose signature was on the press release and it was Holder racing to the cameras and microphones. And when Holder was speaking on TV he demonstrated he knew a lot about Marc
Rich; pretty much every detail of his life. And of course his chummy swamp creatures on the Senate judiciary committed let him lie to their faces when they had to know the truth as well as I did.

Same thing with Comey and Mueller. Straight arrows. Unimpeachable characters. The very definition of honesty and integrity.

Fewer moral scruples than a meth addict turning five dollar tricks in a dumpster behind a Georgetown liquor store. Fewer because at least she is only doing it to support her addiction. Comey and Mueller apparently like it.

Barr seems to me to be different. And the swamp is definitely reacting to him as if he’s different. Nothing but character assassination, assaults on his integrity, and demands for his resignation.

That’s an endorsement in my book.

It seems to me it was a mistake to go after Barr like that. He may be exactly what he appears to be; a man who has a job to do and doesn’t care what people say to him. If so, he’ll go after Omar no matter how much feces the Dems throw at him (they keep missing). And I think after they attacked him he’d enjoy doing it. Because he can just give another interview and say the Dems are engaged in pure politics but as an honest prosecutor when he sees clear evidence of a crime then he is obligated to prosecute the perpetrator. No matter the perpetrators sex, ethnicity, religion or position of power. And no matter how much the Democrats want to protect their own regardless of guilt.

And then he’d have a good chuckle over a cigar and glass of Scotch as he relaxes at home watching Schumer’s, Pelosi’s, AOC’s, et al, heads explode all over his TV screen.

Immigration fraud, tax fraud, and perjury.

Guess now we know why she’s a star of the Dim party.

The word is that Ilhan lived with both of her husbands simultaneously while attending North Dakota State University. However, only one of her husbands was also her brother.

When is:

1-she being removed from office?
2-she being thrown out of the country?

Don’t hold your breath waiting. Sadly, she is no worse than the vast majority of the rest of the Communists – er, I mean Democrats – sitting in Congress right now.

That should be HONEST conservative journalists.
Totally unlike the liberal left hack job faux reporter.

Thanks, but I don’t need to watch that POS give her opinion of my country. Like so many other Socialist-Democrats, she hates the US and tells us all about her hatred – but actually leaving is never on their bucket list.

Interesting how one of Somolia’s “finest” also turns out to be one of Minneapolis “finest”: a petite dwarfish woman from Eastern Africa involved in incest, polygamy, stealing from the government via tax fraud and lying. Now she’s in the business of writing laws for America…what could possibly go wrong?
