Who’s going to cut a deal first in Spygate?

Who’s going to cut a deal first in Spygate?

Katie Pavlich: “The Comey vs Brennan vs Clapper vs Lynch vs Obama show is going to be awesome”

montage by WAJ okay to use

Who is going to cop a plea first?

That might be the question lawyers are asking as the probe by John Durham, a U.S. attorney in Connecticut, into the origins of the spying-not-spying on the Trump campaign moves forward.

Durham was appointed after Bill Barr famously told Congress that there was “spying” on the Trump campaign, and he wanted to find out what happened, how it happened, and whether there was a sufficient predicate. Democrats and the media flipped out, which led me to write, Bill Barr is going to expose Spygate, and the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex is panicking:

It was Barr’s comments about spying on the Trump campaign, and his pledge to investigate that spying, that explains the frenzy to take down Barr. That spying, regardless of whether lawful, has the potential to be a scandal that could touch deep into the Obama administration, and some former officials who loom large in the anti-Trump resistance.

It also could reach deep into the media, with the involvement of Fusion GPS in feeding Russian-provided, Clinton/DNC paid-for, disinformation to the mainstream journalist community.

So the stakes are huge. The Russian collusion scandal may be a Democrat and media scandal. People may go to jail for that collusion, and if so, they may be the first people to go to jail over Russian collusion involving the 2016 election.

Barr is the single greatest threat to the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex. That’s why Democrats, with help from the mainstream media, will spare no effort to tarnish Barr as a way of discrediting the investigative train that is rolling down the tracks.

One key part of the probe will be the use of the Steele dossier to justify the FISA court orders authorizing the spying-not-spying. And former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan are in open conflict.

Fox News reports:

A high-level dispute over which senior government officials pushed the unverified Steele dossier amid efforts to surveil the Trump campaign has broken out into the open again, after it emerged that Attorney General William Barr appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if the FBI and DOJ’s actions were “lawful and appropriate.”

Sources familiar with the records told Fox News that a late-2016 email chain indicated then-FBI Director James Comey told bureau subordinates that then-CIA Director John Brennan insisted the dossier be included in the intelligence community assessment on Russian interference, known as the ICA.

Fox News was told that the email chain – not yet public — referred to the dossier as “crown material,” but it was not clear why this apparent code was used. On Tuesday night, former GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy said on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that “Comey has a better argument than Brennan, based on what I’ve seen.”

The drama between Brennan and Comey is just the surface. The Durham investigation could reach out of the FBI-CIA up through the Obama administration, including then Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the White House itself.

There is the potential for a lot of finger pointing, as Karie Pavlich tweeted:

The Comey vs Brennan vs Clapper vs Lynch vs Obama show is going to be awesome

Me here’s my deal. Tell the truth be spared the death penalty!

I want to see them all in orange jumpsuits and shackles.

I think Clapper is out of this. I think I saw him testify that they had no evidence of collusion. I think he said it plainly, although my impression is he said it reluctantly.

Bisley in reply to Valerie. | May 16, 2019 at 11:21 am

Clapper isn’t at all out of it, once it begins to come out what he’s been doing the last several years. I assume that all of them are now pledging their allegiance to the cause and each other, swearing they will never talk. But, once one of them fears that they are going to prison over this and begins to talk, there will be a mob of them fighting to be first to spill their guts, while there is still a possibility of saving their skins by ratting out someone higher up the chain. It will probably take a while to put the fear in the first, but when the dam breaks, it’s likely to be very entertaining, as well as informative.

I’ll take Loretta Lynch for $1000, Prof.

I Fear that the Deep State will launch their own investigation and like in the Hillary Email Scandal, everyone will be granted immunity.

Wake me up when one of fascist democrats fairly high up in the obama administration goes to jail for their involvement.
I don’t have a lot of faith in the system after hildabeast was allowed to walk free along with the rest of the obama criminals.

The narcissist will suffer more from having his regime, his legacy, be that of a criminal. His actions and deeds far outstripped Nixon’s actions, and his fingerprints might have been covered up with gloves but only the few sycophants of the left will view him with anything but disdain.

All those who voted for him for historic reasons should be ashamed of what they unleashed on this country. Maybe it will have them leery of voting for an empty suit again so easily.

And biden with him. And valerie jarrett. And holder, lynch, power, clinton etc

Lisa Page texted that Obama wanted to be informed. And just before he left office Obama expanded the power of the NSA to disseminate intelligence information. So, I doubt that this attempted coup occurred without his knowledge and direction.

The appropriate punishment is that he be exposed and imprisoned and that the nation learn that this is what happens when 90% of the media carry on like teeny boppers. Obama was never properly vetted. The election of s black person was a great thing, but not an unvetted person of any color.

Obama should have been severely criticized for his response to the Trayyvon Martin and Michael Brown cases. He is responsible for spreading a false narrative that has resulted in BLM and the deterioration of race relations. Oberlin College’s unpardonable and disgusting attack on Gibson’s Bakery is a case in point.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/12/us/politics/nsa-gets-more-latitude-to-share-intercepted-communications.html

My dream is to see them all loaded up in a Paddy Wagon, marched out into the courthouse in orange jumpsuits and shackles. Then, the Paddy Wagon takes them off to Leavenworth. Oh, did I mention that I see Hildebeast, Comey, Rice, Jarrett, Brennan, Clapper, Struck-Stroke, Page, and the rest of the coup as the participants.

Apparently Durham is already on the case:

Eric Felten noticed something already on the public record last October: that Durham already was investigating leaks to the media from the FBI. This means that at least seven months before his role was revealed, and months before William Barr took office, Durham was on the case.

Maybe I won’t be disappointed again.

It doesn’t matter who cops the first plea. They are all going down. And the Media. And FusionGPS and other “contractors.” They have all bank transactions as a matter of record.

Terence G. Gain in reply to MarkS. | May 16, 2019 at 10:13 am

The big question with Mueller is when did he know that there was no collusion. I believe it was well before the midterms. That question needs to be examined.

All hale king Barry and queen moochie

Grab some popcorn, sit back, relax, and watch these greasy, corrupt, lawless, mendacious, self-congratulatory, self-serving, Dumb-o-crat zealot-partisans and Obama lackeys squirm.

They’re already tripping over themselves to disassociate themselves from relevant knowledge, to avoid potential self-incrimination. A reckoning is long overdue.

My guess? Clapper. I think he is the weakest link and appears the most panicked of the bunch. He isn’t making much sense when he talks. I think he is ready to snap.

Comey also looks stressed out. For a guy who has retired into a cozy sinecure, he sure is getting old fast. He is one of the big fish too so he won’t be the first to crack. He will be one of those who go down with the ship.

Brennan may be the easiest to convict and is central to several avenues of pursuit. He is already cracking. He claimed having received “bad information” as his excuse for being so wrong about the Mueller investigation. He could be a good candidate for first to crack too.

You really need to add a poll with this, so we can vote our options.

regulus arcturus in reply to Leslie Eastman. | May 15, 2019 at 10:14 pm

    Indeed.

Markets in everything – wonder what Ladbrokes odds are?

    Or PaddyPower.

Could make a killing betting on this…

The first person, in a position to give knowledgeable testimony on who knew what and when, in Spygate, who may turn rat is Andrew McCabe. McCabe took the hit with the understanding that the Deep State would protect him. But, he is still twisting in the wind and he has lost his protection in the USA who responsible for his case. He might have to sing.

BUT, it is equally possible that no one of import will ever have to pay for their actions. Look, Spygate involves the entire upper echelon of the Obama LE/IC apparatus. It involves the NSA. It involves the FISC. It involves the Clintons. To publicly expose the extent of these activities, would truly shake the foundations of the current political establishment. It is unclear how far this will be taken. One other thing to consider, is what Trump actually wants. He may very well have little desire for “justice”. He might well settle for support for his agenda. So, where this goes will depend, to a great extent, on what the Dems do.

    Mac45 in reply to Mac45. | May 15, 2019 at 9:04 pm

Edit: “he has lost his protection in the USA who responsible for his case.” should read, “he has lost his protection as the USA who was responsible for his case has been transferred.”

The foundations need a category 8 earthquake. This conspiracy needs to be ripped apart, and the people involved prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

What will eventually be required once the investigation goes international is a Nuremberg-style trial. Many of these people, and there could be hundreds of co-conspirators before this is finished, could be tried as a group but the top people need to be tried so the world can understand what happened and understand the harsh consequences required.

Justice must be done or it will certainly happen again. They came so close so the next time so the odds that one more try could get it done. These people need to be crushed in the worst possible way. Historically, they would have been hanged in public. Club Fed won’t cut it.

rdmdawg in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 16, 2019 at 9:05 am

Phil and I have disagreed on many things, but here, our minds are alike. These people didn’t just betray Trump, they betrayed everybody who voted for Trump. The foreign involvement is especially loathsome, to participate in a coup against our president is an act of war.

I think Rosenstein already has.

regulus arcturus in reply to MTED. | May 15, 2019 at 10:17 pm

Thought that the other day, now not so sure.

Things really seemed to accelerate after he left DOJ.

His name is on one of the FISA renewals, and Joe Di Genova let slip last night that Durham has already determined that 3 of the 4 FISAs were illegal, and they’re close to ruling same on #4.

I think they’re all in massive jeopardy, and any squealers will only have minimal cooperative reductions in sentencing, due to the extent of criminal actions and evidence already known.

    oldgoat36 in reply to MTED. | May 15, 2019 at 11:29 pm

Agreed. His deer in the headlights look in that Press Conference with Barr was interesting to see. He looked like someone under a huge weight, and frightened. Knowing Hillary and the accidental deaths that surround them might explain some of it, though Hillary probably has layers upon layers insulating her.

Rosenstein’s defense against those who were saying the letter was bogus and so on seemed a bit much for the guy who kept expanding Herr Mueller’s work, after the fact. I don’t think he is a big player but he knows where the bodies are buried.

And what about the FISA judge who granted the warrants apparently without question? Some “check” on the FBI was he.

    rdmdawg in reply to TX-rifraph. | May 15, 2019 at 9:40 pm

We need to take another look at that entire FISA court deal. From the sounds of it, it’s just a mechanism to allow domestic spying by way of that unmasking. FISA courts are unconstitutional, you cannot fight it in court if you don’t know it’s happening.

regulus arcturus in reply to rdmdawg. | May 15, 2019 at 10:38 pm

You can’t fight it at all because the FISC is an ex parte court – only 1 side appears before the “judge,” and apparently the judges involved in this disaster were on the same team as government lawyers.

      Mac45 in reply to rdmdawg. | May 16, 2019 at 10:17 am

You do not understand the function of the FISC.

The FISC functions just like any other court [federal or state], with regard to authorizing warrants for invasive surveillance of people residing in the US. No cases are “tried” and no judgement rendered against anyone, in this court. It has a single task, authorizing surveillance warrants. No state or federal judge is required to notify the target of a surveillance warrant prior to issuing the warrant. This would defeat the purpose of the surveillance. Where it differs from other courts, is that its proceedings, including documentation, are secret before, during and after the authorization of a warrant, in order to protect ongoing, associated investigations.

        rdmdawg in reply to Mac45. | May 16, 2019 at 1:33 pm

“Where it differs from other courts, is that its proceedings, including documentation, are secret before, during and after the authorization of a warrant, in order to *protect ongoing, associated investigations.*”

I believe you misspelled ‘save the FBI from embarrassment and possibly criminal liability, not to mention sedition.’

    stablesort in reply to TX-rifraph. | May 15, 2019 at 9:51 pm

The FISA court has judges, not investigators. They rely upon the DOJ to ensure the accuracy of the warrant applications. It is the court itself, not the judges, that we need to condemn.

    clintack in reply to TX-rifraph. | May 16, 2019 at 4:57 am

    Nah.

IIRC, they picked a different judge for each renewal, so no one judge ever heard about this more than once. And they lied to the judges. If they’d really had the evidence they claimed to have — from a known Russian agent (spoiler: he wasn’t) working high up in the Trump campaign to meetings (spoiler: they didn’t happen) between even higher campaign officials and Russian agents — then the warrants might well have been justified.

The judges are probably in the clear.

The FISA statutes and the procedures intended to prevent the abuse of the system? Those need to go, or at least a major overhaul. But that won’t happen until after all the dirty laundry is aired.

I expect that there’s to be a lot of wheeling and dealing behind the scenes.
The fix will most likely be in soon. High profile crooked Dems herded into jail?
Well….I’ll believe it only when I’ve seen it.

Chief Justice Roberts and FISA Court—which he freakin’ owns …. sound of crickets. What a spineless loser. He should be all over this. Swamp dweller personified.

Christopher B | May 15, 2019 at 9:32 pm

Agree with MTED. I think part of the reason for the panic is that Rosenstein flipped after the leaks he was willing to wear a wire.

I’m caustically pessimistic. There exists no appetite to correct what needs to be corrected. One huge red flag was viciously waved by Devin Nunes when he recently voted to reauthorize the FISA court.

Nunes knows how the FISC was corrupted during this coup and knows that the court is helpless to prevent corruption in the future, yet he reauthorized the this ‘secret’ court, ‘secret’ warrants and all.

James Wolfe, former chief of security for the Senate Intel Committee pleaded guilty to one charge of lying to the FBI when in fact he had leaked the entire unredacted Carter Page FISA warrant to Ali Watkins, a New York Times reporter.

The FBI needs to be completely dismantled as it has been corrupt since its founding under J.Edgar Hoover and continues to be corrupt under Comey and even now under Wray to this very day.

Brennan’s CIA is an outspoken arm of the Communist movement and is answerable to no one at all.

I’ll vote for Clapper or Page as the weak links. Maybe Susan Rice. Comey is likely to crumble too, but he’s such a suckup weenie that nobody will believe anything he squeals about. He’s kind of the Anthony Weiner of law enforcement.

regulus arcturus | May 15, 2019 at 10:21 pm

Page. She’s already cooperated with Meadows/Jordan et al.

Ratcliffe can put in a good word for her.

The rest are dead meat.

Strzok will die in prison.

Brennan has lost his ubiquitious scowl.

What if Trump suspected all along Team Obama was going to pull this stunt? What if his team collected all sorts of evidence and material, and were waiting until the end of the Mueller Dossier to spring it? What if all the tweets/name-calling have been intended as a distraction while investigations were being conducted behind the scenes?

tom_swift in reply to Leslie Eastman. | May 16, 2019 at 1:11 am

I wouldn’t think that he had time to set up such a team. His enemies are just about everybody in Washington. It takes time to sort out the few reliable men from the spies, saboteurs and traitors. A professional politician coming in from, say, out of state, might have a squad of old trustworthies he could bring with him and appoint to appropriate posts with useful authority; but DJT was never in that position.

Nailed it. President Trump’s greatest strength and his greatest weakness.

    “Too many “what if’s”…….conspiracy theory? { sounds like a liberal scheme to me}

Admiral Michael S. Rogers tipped Trump to the bugs in the White House and Trump Tower – which is why Trump moved to Mar a Logo for a short while.

At least that’s the gossip. Interestingly, NPR’s (Stephen Green?) was out in front of this trying to smear Rogers. Green and Innskeep lead the NPR smear machine.

“Crown material” appears to suggest that the information came from the UK.

This all seems to be a patient drip, drip, drip of new information being released. It started in tiny increments but then picked up a lot of speed after the Mueller report and now seems to be well organized with the ultimate goal of slowly educating the public while reversing the propaganda that the MSM flooding the air waves with over the last several years. Currently Comey is looking to be more and more the bad guy while we are getting more and stronger glimpses of his superiors (e.g., Lynch, Brennan, et. al.) being the ones pulling his strings. Even now we are just starting to get hints that this all starts at the top with Clinton and Obama. I will wager that within a few months we will start seeing Obama tied into this more and more with the foundation of all this being how this well orchestrated and coordinated effort that started well before the election in 2016 could not only not have been done without his knowledge, but with his direction.

The end results, when enough of everything is finally found out in time for the 2020 elections, it will be the entire Democratic party that will bear the brunt of the guilt. From throwing the primaries to force Sanders into loosing, the spying on Trump and his campaign/transition, the protection of Clinton from prosecution for clear and obvious crimes, and ending with the effort to thwart any investigation of all of this by launching a coup against Trump, the Democratic Party could easily cease to exist when all of this is done.

Tis all theatre for the masses. Barr doesn’t have it in him to take down his first name friends and former colleagues. IMO, after a stunning investigation, someone will have a Comey style epiphany and declare that since no reasonable prosecutor…….there will be reforms instituted to make sure this never happens again!

    Mac45 in reply to MarkS. | May 16, 2019 at 12:37 pm

There will be some small-fry indicted and some will be convicted of power level crimes. There might be one high level indictment, other than McCabe, which would likely be Comey, but do not look for any cabinet level or high WH personnel being charged.

The problem here is that, contrary to the reporting, this was NOT a small cabal of bad actors. When you include the IC, LE, DOJ, State, WH, leakers and foreign actors involved, this includes a substantial number of people, many very highly placed. To actively prosecute everyone involved and to out foreign officials who were involved would create an incredible problem for the US government. while this should happen, it is not something which anyone in government, including DJT wants to see happen. It would essentially put the brakes on Trump’s agenda and could cost him reelection.

So, the investigations will continue. We’ll see what affect they have on Dem and GOP actions in Congress. This is really a counter-pressure action by the Trump Administration. If Bannon was still at the WH, I might give some credence to the notion that Trump was going to clean house. But, given the current make-up of the Administration, I just don’t see that happening.

      Here’s my prediction…
There will be an investigation that examines HIGH LEVEL PLAYERS !!!!!

There will be BOMB SHELL ACCUSATIONS and Shit Tons of political grandstanding !!!!!

In the end, the evidence will be gather together and it will result in the CONVICTION…of a part time janitor who works at the FBI……

We have been assured by most all the Democrats that there was no “spying”, so Durham will find nothing.
/snark

I’m going to pick Comey–Gowdy says he has the stronger argument, and lately he’s been doing some pretty strange stuff–posting pictures of himself gazing at trees–I think the stress is getting to him. Brennan should be frog marched to the nearest jail.

Pillage Idiot | May 16, 2019 at 11:11 am

Thunderdome time. “Two men enter; one man leaves!”

Yeah, ok, let me make sure I understand this. The DOJ creates the Mueller special counsel monster, feeds it 30 plus million dollars. The special counsel team, reportedly, uses the dossier (maybe even fusion GPS) to conduct its 2 year farce. Numerous convictions, charges, some trials still ongoing. Now that same DOJ is going to take action to undermine that effort by exposing the frauds underlying the Russia hoax origins? I’ll suspend disbelief for most any decent movie but it is asking too much to accept such an abrupt reversal from the DOJ. A reversal that could undermine their vaunted “institutional integrity.”

Terence G. Gain | May 16, 2019 at 11:46 am

Putting it as concisely as I can, since Sessions was fired and certainly since Barr was appointed, it’s not the same DOJ.

It’s an interesting question, but our emphasis on questions like that sends a bad message to ourselves as well as to the bad guys. It suggests that we’re playing a game of gotcha rather than draining the swamp. Fixing our government should be the priority.

Am I wrong in thinking that Papadopoulos is the only person sentenced in spygate? The others have been convicted on unrelated charges, or have not been convicted or have not been sentenced?

What are the chances that the whole investigation will be thrown out for poisoned fruit?

Is it me? Suddenly the key players have gone into a media vacuume. Haven’t seen Barack or Michelle. Jarrett and Holder are silent. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is missing as are Bill and Hillary. John “Logan” Kerry must be hiding out in a country which the U. S. has no extradition rights. And where oh where is John Podesta?

The only noise makers are the usual minions used by the Socialists, Waters, Kerry, Markey and of course Adam Schiff.

What’s fascinating is that a prosecutor playing the “let’s make a deal” game with suspects works even when they are LEO and know that standing together and keeping silent is the only way to actually survive.

It’s human nature and humans don’t trust each other much. Especially those who have done something wrong.

No honor among thieves is a truism.
