“Milkshaking” is the fun, new progressive protest tactic

Sugary attacks are occurring ahead of Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party win in the upcoming elections.

As the US presidential election season starts to heat up, security details may want to review the latest protest tactic being used in Europe: “Milkshaking.”

When Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage was doused Monday with a milkshake while campaigning for the European Parliament elections in the English city of Newcastle, it was unclear who he was more angry with—the protester who threw the drink at him, or the security team that didn’t see it coming.

“It’s a complete failure,” Farage told his security detail as the banana-and-salted-caramel concoction dripped from his lapel. “You could have spotted that a mile away.”

After all, this wasn’t a random attack. “Milkshaking,” as it has come to be known, has emerged as the latest form of protest in Britain, where a number of mostly right-wing political candidates have been drenched by shake-wielding demonstrators on the campaign trail. It began earlier this month when a viral video showed a 23-year-old man dunking a strawberry milkshake on Tommy Robinson, the anti-Muslim activist running as an independent candidate to represent the Northwest region of England in the European Parliament elections. It was the second time in two days that Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, was hit with a milkshake.

A 32-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and put in handcuffs by police.

Mr Farage tweeted afterwards: ‘Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible.’

He later told reporters that the milkshake was ‘yobbo flavoured’ and he is understood to have made a statement to Northumbria Police.

Brexit minister James Cleverly immediately condemned the episode, insisting that people should debate rather than ‘assault political opponents’.

Tony Blair branded the attack ‘horrible and ridiculous’, while Jo Cox’s widower Brendan Cox said it normalised ‘violence and intimidation’.

It’s gotten so bad that local restaurants have begun to stop serving milkshakes near events (via Ace of Spades).

Why are these attacks occurring? Likely because the “climate change cultists” see that Farage’s Brexit Party is likely to win the upcoming elections.

The latest polling for the European Parliament elections shows that Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is likely to gain the most votes in the UK, as establishment parties are forecast to lose their majority across the European Union.

The vote takes place in the UK this week, on Thursday 23 May, with the Europe-wide results expected on the evening of Sunday 26 May.

These are expected to see establishment parties across the continent suffer, both at the hands of the populist-Right as well as resurgent liberal parties.

Despite the tactic being juvenile, social justice activists are clamoring to import it.

Saner Brits would like the protestors to be circumspect during President Trump’s upcoming state visit in June.

Have police/security break at least one arm of every perp doing the deed and it will soon stop.

I’d love to share a milkshake with former governor Jerry Brown. Walgreen’s sells an incredible tasting ice cream flavor called “Medieval Madness.”

Or I could make a custom shake with mint ice cream and hot chocolate syrup and call it “Paradise Lost: Global Warming Didn’t Burn Down My Town, You Ahole.”

Sounds yummy!

I’d like to see more body slamming in response to such protests.

Very good idea ???? Ron

Strange how in the UK, throwing milkshakes at politicians is fun, even @BurgerKingUK is getting in on it.

But if you put bacon in a mosque, you get 20 years in prison.

Have you seen those “Fat Bomb” recipes for people on low carb diets?

Plenty of them must use bacon………

No, you don’t. Stop making things up.

      txvet2 in reply to Milhouse. | May 22, 2019 at 2:43 am

A Florida man is faced with life in prison for that precise action according to this source, so 20 years is technically within the potential parameters.

        txvet2 in reply to txvet2. | May 22, 2019 at 2:49 am

Edit: up to life in prison. That got lost in editing.

        Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | May 22, 2019 at 10:31 am

Your link is broken, but in any case your claim is not true. Nobody in Florida is facing any kind of sentence, let alone life, for putting bacon in a mosque. Stop making things up, it only discredits any true things you might once in a while happen to say.

        Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | May 22, 2019 at 10:43 am

OK, just in case anyone doesn’t know what txvet is lying about, he is referring to the case of a vicious thug who broke into a mosque with a machete and smashed the place up, and got 15 years for it. He also left bacon behind. He was not charged with anything for that, because it is not a crime.

    Milkshakes don’t assault people, People assault people. . . unless . . . . there’s bacon in the milkshake

Social justice anywhere is injustice everywhere.

Dear people of Scotland.

We’re selling milkshakes all weekend.

Have fun.

I wonder if Twitter will deplatform Burger King. #HateLovesAbortion

Massinsanity | May 21, 2019 at 5:35 pm

Perhaps they view this as a step up from hitting people with U shaped bike locks then scampering away like the cowards they are?

So at a minimum, assault, add damage / destruction of personal property charge as well. Note, if the suit cost is over a certain amount (in Oregon I believe it’s $1500) it becomes a felony.

Also, sue them in civil court for the cost of cleaning, or if not cleanable, the replacement cost of the suit.

Did I miss anything criminal / civil wise?

“‘Milkshaking.’ as it has come to be known, has emerged as the latest form of protest in Britain”

The totalitarian left, from Antifa to Islam, is inherently violent because they can not sell their inane ideas through persuasion. Stated otherwise, they’ve lost the argument so they pretend to “win” with violence.

Being doused with a milkshake isn’t fun, but it’s not a brick to the head or a smiting at the neck as Muslims are wont to do.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to pfg. | May 21, 2019 at 5:52 pm

The police better get on top of this since London and the EU are well known now for acid thrown into the face muslim women by the muslim men.

The Friendly Grizzly | May 21, 2019 at 5:43 pm

Britain needs milkshake control.

It’s escalating: Now a British brewery is saying people should throw bricks at conservatives:

British Beer Co. Advocates Hitting Conservatives Over The Head With Bricks.

Throwing bricks (or half-bricks) at people is an old tradition of British and Irish feral mobs.

Tar and feathering is an american tradition. I am thinking it needs to come back as well

Confinement in public stocks, pelted with rotted fruits and vegetables. Even if for only a few hours, non-lethal, highly embarrassing … plus nicely satisfying and entertaining to the rest of us.

(And organically-grown produce rots more quickly, right?)

Milkshakes turn to paint, gasoline or acid – or a bomb in a milk shake container.

Anybody throwing anything at a public figure should be considered to throwing an object capable of great bodily harm and should be deadlt with accordingly, but at the time of the threat and at trial.

If a leftist was hit by a milkshake the MSM/DNC axis would solemnly inform us that it was a hate crime committed by white supremecists (milk is white in color = symbol of white power, geddit?!).

It’s seems obvious to me in view of events that Burger King was encouraging this milk-shaking attacks. I believe in boycotts – no more Burger King for me.

Burger King is promoting this in the US. I no longer eat there.

Milkshaking is the new bike lock assaults.
If this happened in the US, the attackers would be arrested for assault.

Other option… bust their jaw requiring milkshakes when jaw wired shut.

Anchovy in reply to alaskabob. | May 21, 2019 at 8:38 pm

What’s the matter with you? If they have a broken jaw, they would have to use a straw which would destroy the world within just a few years. You hate this planet, don’t you.

This is the first step to violence. Police know this very, VERY well.

People START throwing small things like eggs and spoiled foods. Then they quickly move up to things that can actually cause damage like bottles and full cans of soda. Then it progresses to rocks, bricks, and molotov cocktails.

The fact that the left which is always whining about ‘hate speech’ causing violence is comfortable with ACTUAL violence is disgusting. Not surprising, but disgusting.

This is going to end with a ‘protester’ getting shot by Secret Service and we’re going to be lectured on how people can’t even protest safely anymore.

Milk shakes are silly and funny. Sooner or later some anti-fa type is going to think, “Hey! You know what would be even funnier than milk shakes? ACID! Yeah! I’ll buy a milkshakes, dump out the milkshake and fill the cup with sulphuric acid!”

A couple of experiments like that will get the cowardly leftist badly hurt. Eventually, though, they’ll figure it out. And then the next person who only has a milkshake in the cup will get shot and the media will blame paranoid conservatives.

So why wait to go through all that? Shoot them now.

stevewhitemd | May 21, 2019 at 9:10 pm

The quickest way to stop “milk shaking” is to milk shake a current leftist icon, like Ms. AOC, Bernie, or the goofy mayor from South Bend.

Do that a couple times and the progressive left will reconsider how ‘funny’ and ‘noble’ this is.

Unfortunately, this sort of tit-for-tat is required because the progressives will not listen to reason, nor will they think through the implications of their acts.

Olinser, above, is correct — this is a step to violence. It normalizes public humiliation of people one doesn’t like. It will continue until it is turned against progressives.

Progressives are counting on, indeed hoping for, an over-reaction from the right — Mr. Farage’s security guards beating up a milkshaker, for instance. That writes their next editorial and indeed justifies their next step in the violence. But they aren’t counting on a mint-chocolate milkshake dousing of Ms. AOC.

My suggestion is pure Alinsky at work: turn your opponent’s tactics against them.

If the dems didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all. So what’s funny or cool when they do it will simply be vile and hateful when someone on the right does it.

Based on the profile of the milk shake thrower, I would say that he drinks far more milk shakes than he throws…

Tom Friedman was pied in 2008 while speaking at Brown
University. He and the NYTimes had an obligation to use their platform to deplore such tactics used by those in disagreement. Nothing but crickets ????

tic...tic...BOOM | May 22, 2019 at 7:13 am

Today milkshakes. Tomorrow toxic chemicals. That’s the liberal way. Just testing the waters.

So . . . is that the latest Leftoid plan? To determine the course of Western civilization by a food fight?

Would it be a “hate crime” if the pol was lactose intolerant?

Milhouse in reply to Doug. | May 22, 2019 at 10:40 am

Not unless it was done because he was lactose-intolerant, in order to send a message to all lactose-intolerant people, and the local hate crime law specifies health conditions as one of the grounds for which a sentencing enhancement is available. (I am not aware of any jurisdiction in the world where that is the case.)

buckeyeminuteman | May 22, 2019 at 3:29 pm

In Soviet Russia/ liberal utopia, the milk shakes you.

Anyone who’s worked in a prison knows what’s in those, ‘milkshakes’.

Everything liberals know they learn in prison?

Won’t be long before the UK left starts emulating their Muslim masters and throws acid or combustibles (gasoline, kerosene, etc) at somebody.
