College Student Shocked to be Arrested for Stealing Pro-Life Sign

“I cannot believe this is happening”

https://youtu.be/07bjyxgxG94

Last week, a young woman was arrested on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill for allegedly punching a pro-life advocate. Now there has been a second arrest after another young woman stole a pro-life sign.

Caleb Parke reports at FOX News:

Clash over abortion at UNC results in second arrest

The clash over abortion at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill has resulted in a second arrest…

Last week, Fox News reported Jillian Ward, a pro-choice feminist at UNC, was arrested for punching Austin Beigel, a member of the pro-life group Created Equal.

A second student on the same campus faces larceny charges after she stole a sign that read “warning: abortion victim photos ahead” just days after the first incident.

Beigel and his colleague repeatedly told her she was on camera stealing the sign.

Amanda Prestigiacomo of the Daily Wire has more:

WATCH: Feminist Steals Pro-Life Sign. Then The Cops Show Up.

In a video posted by the group, the feminist is captured grabbing an orange pro-life sign from Beigel’s hands. As she’s walking away with the group’s property, the woman ignores warnings that her actions equate to theft and that she’s walking right toward a police officer.

Sure enough, a police officer confronts the alleged thief moments before she’s able to toss the sign.

“Why’d you rip it out of his hands?” the officer asks.

“Because this restricts women’s rights,” the woman responds, pointing to the pro-life sign.

The officer informs her that she does not “have a right to take someone’s property” even if she doesn’t agree with the group’s protected speech. “You can ignore them,” he offers, adding, “They have a right to be here.”

“This is why women have such a problem getting abortions in North Carolina and y’all just let them get away with this s***,” the woman says, nearly breaking into tears…

“I cannot believe this is happening,” she says.

The most amazing thing is the girl’s reaction when she realizes she will be held accountable for her behavior. She is stunned to learn that her outrage over this issue doesn’t override the law. Watch the whole thing below, strong language warning:

Maybe if more students were held responsible for their behavior in this way, we would see fewer students acting out on campus like angry children.

“I can’t believe there are consequences for my actions”

I had an ex-girlfriend in college with the same deer in headlights expression when she tried to steal her car out of a tow yard lot. LOL…she was a crazy one.

Her consequences will be to join them live tomorrow on Good Morning America. And, she will probably get invited to speak at the DNC.

Over 10 years ago I made the “mistake” of writing “I personally cannot support abortion except for the life of the mother. And putting a crimp in your partying lifestyle doesn’t count.” in a discussion on my sister’s FB page. I was quickly blocked because her friends “who are nice people” were phoning her in hysterics about this “crazy evil person” who wanted women with ectopic pregnancies to DIE!!!!

These critters were all at least a decade older then than this girl is now, but showed the same inability to deal with commonly held, politely stated beliefs (as well as a serious lack of reading comprehension).

My sister proceeded to apologize to them by saying that I was delusional and mentally unstable.

I haven’t talked with her since. And I’m pretty sure she doesn’t understand why I hold that what she said needs, at a minimum, an apology on her part.

That Facebook encounter and sequalae were an example of how we are in fact two [or more] separate and hostile countries inside one porous set of borders which share neither culture nor a Social Contract. Including both the Constitution and the rule of law. Some years ago I invented the acronym TWANLOC [Those Who Are No Longer Our Countrymen]. It probably should have been done more elegantly, but it was in the middle of a long exchange. But elegant or not, the phrase is true. Everyone is going to have to make a choice in the end, and the time for choosing is getting shorter.

I’m so sorry to hear about this, LG; it must be very painful for you.

It never ceases to amaze me that the left, who advocate “tolerance” and “love not hate,” are among the most intolerant people on earth, putting their hate miles above their love.

Take heart, though, we all have stories of intolerant leftie family members who cut themselves off from their loved ones because of “wrong thoughts” (or whatever).

    5 years old nails it!

She resorts to using her puppy dog eyed expression that she more than likely used on her daddy to get out of a spanking on numerous occasions.

Her face turns to shock when she finally realizes she has to face justice for what she has done.

healthguyfsu in reply to legacyrepublican. | May 17, 2019 at 1:39 am

You are assuming that her dad actually had the stones to discipline her in any way, shape, or form.

It’s no wonder this generation shows such hostility and anger towards the police. They represent real world consequences.

The video is great, but that picture (still from the video) is certainly a picture which is worth 1000 words. Precious is shocked! Shocked I say!!

I bet that Tayvon had that same look when he was shot, she is very lucky to have gotten away with assaulting someone without receiving the Thugvon treatment.

    4fun in reply to TX-rifraph. | May 16, 2019 at 8:40 pm

And the courts will waive the case and release her to go and commit more thefts.

Well the snowflake felt she was entitled. We have created a generation of automatons who lack tolerance and empathy for those they disagree with.

To paraphrase “1984”, the signs will be burned. Or was that “Fahrenheit 451”?

#HateLovesAbortion

The only thing she says that at least makes some sense is “I was going to give it back”. She’s lying, of course, but if she were telling the truth that would mean it wasn’t larceny. The definition of larceny is taking something with the intention of permanently depriving its owner of its use.

That’s why when joyriding became a thing legislatures all over the world had to pass special statutes to make it a crime, because under the common law it wasn’t one, and people were getting away with it.

The rest of her act is just too ridiculous for words; maybe she was setting herself up for an incompetence defense, that she’s so unworldly she had no idea she shouldn’t take people’s stuff, or that the police are there to protect everyone, not just her.

But if memory serves me didn’t some Demo steal a campaign sign and got away with it? If she was an avid reader of LI she probably read that story and was following in that guys footsteps.

Unfortunately NCSU has seen a snowflake storm descend on it, but in the old days it was said that transferring from NCSU to UNC included exchanging your study lamp for a Beauty Rest mattress.

Chapel Hell hasn’t changed. “Carolina Blue” .. look at it, memorized it, hate it.

Barry in reply to alaskabob. | May 17, 2019 at 1:45 am

      You poor pathetic state boobs…

“…transferring from NCSU to UNC included exchanging your study lamp for a Beauty Rest mattress.”

No one at State could get laid.

We could compare SAT scores I suppose.

      🙂

For the rest of you reading this exchange, Playboy once listed the top partying schools in the country. Beside number one was a “*” and below an explanation that UNC-Chapel Hill was not listed because they were a “professional” partying school.

As for NCSU guys…well there were Meredith and Peace colleges.

“The definition of larceny is taking something with the intention of permanently depriving its owner of its use.”

Actually, most modern theft and larceny statutes use the wording “taking property of another, without the permission of the owner, such to deprive the owner of the use of the property”. The statutes were rewritten that way to eliminate any possibility of an “intent to return” defense.

EVEN IF she was ‘going to give it back,’ she grabbed it out of the owner’s hands: this is battery. It is also tresspass to chattels.

The case is Fisher v. Carrousel Motor Hotel, Inc.:
    https://law.justia.com/cases/texas/supreme-court/1967/b-342-0.html

The girl is going to get sued by the sign owner, and he’s going to win.

Well … she asked for it and definitely deserves to be held accountable for her behavior … but at least she had enough respect for the cop (or sense of self preservation) to not act like a psycho mindless twit toward the guy. Where I live that woulda turned into a donnybrook.

murkyv in reply to PODKen. | May 16, 2019 at 8:53 pm

That cop did a wonderful job.

Kept his cool, spoke politely and respectfully and held firm while explaining things in a way even a snowflake child could understand .

Unlike what appears to happen in more Liberal venues, where the cop wouldn’t have even pursued her

counsel in reply to Milhouse. | May 16, 2019 at 4:59 pm

North Carolina is not very forgiving

All distinctions between petit and grand larceny are abolished.  Unless otherwise provided by statute, larceny is a Class H felony and is subject to the same rules of criminal procedure and principles of law as to accessories before and after the fact as other felonies.

College kids are so wet behind their ears, and so oblivious to how ignorant they are.

“I can’t believe this is happening” says more about her parents than her

Wait till she gets out (probalby cited with a ticket, instead of jailed): she’ll brag about going to the joint for the cause.

      JusticeDelivered in reply to TheFineReport.com. | May 16, 2019 at 8:19 pm

Wait until she is caught lying on an employment application, and then rejected. That will be followed by by listing her criminal record and being rejected.

As an employer, I learned the hard way not to hire jailbirds.

ghost dog in reply to JusticeDelivered. | May 16, 2019 at 9:58 pm

The best part is the arrest and her name are on the internet and social media. Even if the judge expunges her record after some community service, a simple social media search will reveal her arrest record.

IneedAhaircut | May 16, 2019 at 3:53 pm

For a minute there, I thought I was reading the Babylon Bee.

And the evildoer was arrested, and everyone lived happily ever after. Nice to see a lawbreaker from the left finally stopped. At least temporarily.

The campus cop’s hero is Paul Blart.

Charles Martel | May 16, 2019 at 4:01 pm

She expects the police to enforce her political/moral views and to eliminate opposing views.

Why shouldn’t she? In our SJW PC environment, colleges that issue trigger warnings when students might be exposed to uncomfortable ideas, liberals are the anti-liberty, anti-free speech force.

I love that cop. “I just gotta enforce the law.”

I can accept, and even respect, civil disobedience. But that only takes place if you accept the consequences.

I am glad she was arrested. But where were the campus police when a mob tore down a statue?

Hopefully the smell of the jail – and the good company – was enough to help her find religion.

A lot like the “broken windows” philosophy- if society will enforce the “small” laws, then the scofflaws will be less likely to break the laws with impunity. Most of these kids have never had to face any consequences for their actions- ever. They don’t even associate sex with becoming pregnant- why should they? If you get pregnant because you randomly “hooked up” with some guy, just have an abortion- no harm. no foul. It’s long past time we started parenting again, quit trying to be “friends” with our kids, etc. The Lori Laughlins of the world are the result of decades of permissiveness and the flouting of laws!

Lori Laughlin exists only because of the example of rampant corruption of elected offiicals in our government.

Laughlin is a piker compared to the likes of pelosi, obama, feinstein, biden, mcconnell and the rest of the swamp that has looted our nation for their personal benefit.

This is funny stuff! It’s tough when real life smacks you in the face. Having said that I doubt she’s a feminist or much of anything, she’s just too young. She has a head full of mush and hopefully will learn a valuable lesson.

Leftists have been breaking the law and virtue signaling about it for so long they are shocked if there is even a chance they will be held accountable instead of clapped for and told they are so brave. This idiot behavior is Obama’s legacy. Notice we have also not had the highways full of idiots banging on cars since Bathhouse Barry left the WH and Trump took over and settled in.

I would like to see someone take her purse and “just move it 50 feet”.

Cop did a nice job.

Hands off, don’t steal.

So, does Pro-Choice establishment restrict women’s rights?

What happens to the child once she reaches the age or state of viability? Is the issue rights or responsibility?

The remains of a planned child still need to be evacuated and disposed for social progress, sometimes recycled for medical progress.

Comanche Voter | May 16, 2019 at 5:44 pm

To paraphrase Rhett Butler, “Frankly you little twit, I don’t give a damn that you “can’t believe this is happening”.

My prescription would be to read this:

A Double Story by George MacDonald
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5676

I read it several times a year to keep my Somebody in line.

Feel Good video of the week… I laughed, I cried (but mostly laughed).

BrokeGopher | May 16, 2019 at 6:26 pm

Think how apoplectic she would be if some pro-lifer stole her “keep abortion legal” sign and the cops let him get away with it because he “just moved it 50 feet”. Think she’d say no harm no foul? Fat chance.

tarheelkate | May 16, 2019 at 7:58 pm

I am happy to know that freedom of speech is being enforced at UNC. As the police officer said, if she doesn’t want to watch an anti-abortion video, she can just ignore it.

How dare those nasty officers not arrest HIM for wrongthink!

And as for the “I was just moving the property I stole so it doesn’t count” let’s try that after robbing a bank.

This was delicious to watch. So entitled!

This will add to her educational experience. Assuming she’s an instate undergrad living on campus, she and her family paid about $25K for her to learn a lesson she should have mastered in kindergarten.

“I cannot believe this is happening”

Believe it,the real world has consequences for ones actions.

My theme for the day.

You reap what you sow…thank your professors!

This is the left in a nutshell: I can’t believe you are arresting for me breaking the law, when THOSE PEOPLE are over there not breaking the law . . . but are triggering me with their wrong ideas.

They’re the baddies here for making me steal their sign; oh, and you, you Mr. LEO, you’re a baddie, too, for not arresting them for wrong thoughts instead of me . . . who committed an actual crime.

Yep, that’s every leftie in America. They are immune to the law because they think they are “right” and that it’s the “wrong” people who should be arrested for . . . thinking wrong thoughts.

How on earth did we get here?

DouglasJBender | May 17, 2019 at 9:19 am

“I can’t un-arrest you.”

We’re growing such perfect little fascists that they really are astounded that they can’t control speech they don’t like, and that the use of force is totally acceptable.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to aka Hoss. | May 17, 2019 at 7:09 pm

You can expect that in a very short period of time that they will be actively physically fighting [mostly from ambush] for the right to oppress us. And shortly thereafter there will be another set of “I can’t believe this is happening” moments when we fight back. They will consider that immoral and unfair.

    Subotai Bahadur

Slow the video down and watch as she snatches it, She has a smile on her face….I wonder where that went ?

Hahaa I had to watch this twice. The real hero here is the police officer. He took the time to explain to this snowflake why it was not acceptable to take someone else’s property without permission. This is based on her reaction, and is the first time she has ever been told no to something .

surprised she didn’t toss her boobs out to try to get away with it

Someone should send the video to the Portland (OR) LEOs. They don’t appear to understand “law enforcement” and won’t until a death occurs as a result of their inaction.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to paracelsus. | May 17, 2019 at 7:02 pm

From what I understand the Portland PD are not enforcing laws against Democrat-Socialists at the direct orders of the Democrat-Socialist Portland City Government. And that as a result the staffing levels are about 20% below authorized as those who can move to other departments, new officers quit rather than stay, senior officers bid for non-public contact positions as they try to ride out till retirement, and I understand of 80 or so applicants for a recent class at their academy all but a couple were rejected because they could not be an LEO due to background issues.

Portland is on the downhill slide and it is going to get worse.

    Subotai Bahadur

“Officer, you don’t seem to understand; I’m perfectly okay with what I did, so that means you have to let me go!”

Where was the feminist? I only saw a dingbat.

texansamurai | May 18, 2019 at 2:26 pm

her ” parents ” must be so proud

He should have cracked her with the night stick until she shut up

It is always the easy way for the left. If you don’t like someone’s politics you deplatform them, shout them down, assault them, steal their signs. Much too hard to show why your ideas are better. Debate is hard. You have to know what the other sides argument is and the left doesn’t need to hear ideas that might upset them.

tic...tic...BOOM | May 19, 2019 at 8:30 am

I had to watch it a couple of times to get the full flavor of her self imposed plight. “Is there anything I can do to avoid being arrested?”
Uh, NO!

DieJustAsHappy | May 19, 2019 at 8:37 am

It would be interesting to know, down the road, what, if anything, she learned from this experience. We would hope that it might be life-changing for the better.

It’s the “Sir, I’m not trying to get arrested” that gets me. She thinks this is going according to the usual rules of engagement, where a BUNCH of thugs show up and do this crap, then when they are good and finished they call over the police and tell them who’s agreed to be “arrested” (briefly detained then released) that day. NOT TODAY, my little one.
