Don’t rule out Michelle Obama as Democrats’ Hail Mary Pass to prevent a Bernie apocalypse

Don’t rule out Michelle Obama as Democrats’ Hail Mary Pass to prevent a Bernie apocalypse

The Democrat convention is where it could happen. To save the Party. To save America. And most of all, to save the Obama Legacy from Orange Man Bad.

Michelle Obama has repeatedly said she doesn’t want to run for president, and she will not run for president.

I believe her. But her husband once made a declaration that he would not run for president, until he did.

We have been on Michelle-for-President-watch longer than just about anyone else:

The logic of Michelle as Hail Mary Pass is as clear as it ever was. At least to me.

The Democratic field is expanding, with Joe Biden set to announce tomorrow, if someone remembers to wake him up.

And therein lies the problem. It’s Bernie’s nomination to lose. He may lose, but there’s no obvious person, other than Biden perhaps, who can stop him.

I don’t believe that establishment and non-lunatic Democrats will allow a Bernie nomination. Bernie as nominee would be extraordinarily risky to Democrats. He’s not only a socialist, he wants the Boston Marathon Bomber to be able to vote from prison!

Is there any doubt for whom, as between Trump and Bernie, the Boston Marathon Bomber would vote? Republican attack ad makers never had it so easy.

Bernie’s chance of beating Trump is more than zero, which will turn out Republican voters. As unthinkable as Trump was to liberals, Bernie is to non-liberals. That hurts, not helps, Bernie’s chances. Democrats were lulled into believing that Trump couldn’t win because they lived in a liberal media bubble, Trump supporters and non-socialists live in reality and they will vote.

Bernie may inspire his lunatic anti-Israel, anti-capitalist, pro-socialism base, but they can’t win a national election for Bernie. Trump hatred will help any Democrat candidate, for sure, but even many Democrats acknowledge that won’t be enough. The people who hate Trump now are pretty much the people who hated Trump in 2016.

Faced with the likelihood of 4 more years of Orange Man Bad, the loss of the House, and continued Republican control of the Senate, what will Democrats do? Will they march off a cliff behind Crazy Bernie, or lead an insurrection?

For Obama Democrats the stakes are even higher. Trump has not managed to wipe out the Obama legacy completely, in part because the lower federal courts have stymied him. A second Trump term could mean the everlasting wipeout of the Obama legacy.

You know who cares about the Obama legacy? Mr. Obama.

Mr. Obama says he will not endorse early in the primaries, and may not endorse at all during the primaries. Curious.

If Biden looks likely to win the nomination, I expect the Obamas to fall in line behind him. But if not, all bets are off.

There’s no reason for Michelle to get in the race now, where she’d have to demean herself by appearing on debate stage with clowns, kooks and fakes. Time is on her side. She will pounce at the right moment, if the moment presents itself.

Rush made this point today:

RUSH: Portland, Maine. This is Bob. I’m glad you called, sir. Welcome to our program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. First-time caller, longtime listener.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Yeah. I was just wondering, alluding back to what you said earlier about how the Democrats really don’t have anybody that’s electable. My wife brought this up to me the other day. What do you think about them at the last moment, as a dark horse, putting in Michelle Obama, where —

RUSH: You know, I go back and forth on this.

CALLER: Do you? I wonder if the… (crosstalk) Okay. I was just wondering if, you know, the ghost government, you know, if they can still — like Obama, can still — kind of control a situation (unintelligible).

RUSH: Oh, see, I think that’s it. I am convinced that The One wants back in. I think The One is sitting there seething over the dismantling of his agenda and the Trump verbal assault on it every day. But he can’t run again. And they got the Michelle book out there. It sold very well. That will tell them that she is immensely popular. If they are thinking about it, there is no way that they’re gonna get in this soon.

They’re gonna let these people eat each other up and spit each other out, beat each other up because this is gonna happen. You can’t avoid this. Every one of these candidates wants the nomination. Some of them, no, they’re not gonna get it and they’re doing it for other reasons. But there are enough people in this race that really want it. And enough of them who really think they can get it….

So they’re gonna be ripping each other apart, and in some cases they’re gonna be doing lasting damage in terms of presidential-electability. And after enough of that happens, the Obamas will survey the landscape, they will not pull the trigger and get in if they don’t think it is a lock that she would win. The last thing the Obamas can afford is for Michelle (My Belle) to get in there and not win….

How could this come down? The most likely scenario is at the Democrat convention. In March 2019, liberal Ed Kilgore at New York Magazine explored how Yes, a Contested Convention Could Actually Happen in 2020.

Michelle would win by acclamation. That her memoir is set to become the best selling memoir of all time is a sign of her star power. Democrats would swoon. The Obama coalition would be resurrected. Who would oppose her among Democrats?

Michelle as Hail Mary Pass to prevent a Bernie electoral apocalypse. Don’t rule it out.

The longer they wait to announce, the more will come out about Spygate and all the other corruption that happened under Obama.

The Left has been trying to remove Trump from the picture since before he was elected. They found nothing and are looking more petty and vindictive with every subpoena, committee, and town hall… and AOC or Omar tweet.

We already know what happened during Obama’s and Clinton’s tenures. It will be nothing but two years of sunlight and growing disdain.

Go ahead. Run Michelle. Can’t wait to see the tears when she loses… to Trump. The memes will be glorious.

Go ahead. Run Michelle. Can’t wait to see the tears when she loses… to Trump. The memes will be glorious.

Which is why I suspect that if she does run they may wait till 2024, after Trump’s second term. Wouldn’t wanna risk losing to Orange Man Bad.

Bisley in reply to rinardman. | April 25, 2019 at 9:58 am

Agree. She will never run unless Trump’s approval numbers drop so low that they think anyone could beat him. A loss, and particularly to Trump, would ruin the brand. She will be saved for a sure thing, if there ever is one.

Carl in reply to rinardman. | April 25, 2019 at 1:23 pm

If Trump wins in 2020 the 2024 election will go to Nikki Haley in a landslide. Michelle or no Michelle.

If Trump loses in 2020 to someone other than Michelle (say Biden. just for laughs), Michelle will never be heard from again.

Qualifications:

1.) Hated America until her nitwit husband was elected president.
2.) Made school lunches inedible
3.) Did I say she had an idiot husband who was elected president?

That’s all I got.

    Don’t forget lousy fashion sense!

When Barrack was a Chicago politician Michelle was given (via politics) a job as the Vice President for Community and External Affairs of the University of Chicago Medical Center. She failed in this job so badly that she was told essentially to come to work and do nothing for her incompetence was so great. If she cannot handle a job this simple, imagine how she would handle the Presidency.

The left is about intersectionality, so she has two obvious creds there: black and female. I will not speculate on the latter.

And Joan Rivers’ untimely demise on the heels of her well-publicized tranny remarks makes for great speculation . . .

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to DuxRedux. | April 25, 2019 at 6:04 pm

Yes, wasn’t it within a fortnight after Joan called out Obama as Gay and Michelle as Tranny that Ms. Rivers was dead?

Yet another Eva Peron candidate for the Dems.

He may lose, but there’s no obvious person, other than Biden perhaps, who can stop him.

The Dems still have their Superdelegate system. It worked last time, and it should work this time as well.

The Obamas, especially Moochelle,

They’re griftin’, griftin’
Everybody’s feelin’ great
They’re griftin’, griftin’
They’re griftin’ the night away

Wait until Mooch’s past is put in the spotlight – unlike The One, lots of her records exist.

Talk about the Big Ugly.

Michael 0Bama will be a great POTUS, if elected! The only question remaining to be answered will be will he be allowed to go into meetings with foreign dignitaries with or without 5 o’clock shadow……

Maybe I missed it, so refresh me: Bernie carries the label of Independent, not Democrat. There has been noise about the Dem party requiring that their nominee be an actual Democrat. If that becomes the case, will Bernie have to convert?

If they make the D a requirement, will they nominate a runner-up who sports the D leaving Bernie to sit on the bench, or maybe get drafted as a 3rd party candidate. Neither option bodes well for the Dems at this point.

Eastwood Ravine | April 24, 2019 at 10:10 pm

Drudge has Biden leaping ahead of other Democrat primary opponents, and an 8 point lead over Trump. However, it’s early, Biden’s best day will probably be the day he declares.

If Drudge has that, he’s either got bad data, or else some little po-dunk polling outfit did a tiny push-poll and is using it to try to keep up Biden’s …. flagging … poll number.

Biden’s support it tepid at best, at the moment. He’s the “well, I don’t like anybody else” candidate. Sanders and Warren scare the HELL out of most of the older Democrats that actually remember what Socialism and Communism is. If either of them becomes the candidate, they can kiss Florida goodby for GOOD (the Cuban community will NEVER forgive the Democrats for running a socialist). Not EVER.

We have been on Michelle-for-President-watch longer than just about anyone else:

I was expecting her to jump into the 2016 race at the last minute.

There is no doubt Democrats prefer a Victim Candidate (TM), someone who checks off one or more of the following boxes: female, homosexual, Muslim, Hispanic, black, Asian, disabled. That would allow the MSM/DNC to run a pedal-to-the-metal identity politics campaign where the nominee would speak in vague generalities while the campaign underlings demonize and dehumanize as a KKK-style bigot anyone who dared criticize xir. That was the template for both of Obama’s presidential campaigns, and many Democrats think it is unbeatable.

But I don’t think Michelle Obama is their candidate. Spouses of successful candidates seem to have a tougher time (Hillary! was never as popular as Her philandering spouse). Unlike Hillary!, Michelle Obama does not seem to have the same ravaneous lust for power, at least not publicly. Michelle Obama never interjected herself in the day-to-day operations of the Obama administration the way Hillary! tried to run every aspect of the Clinton administration. And long before Her husband left the White House Hillary! was openly mapping out Her presidential strategy – something I never heard of Michelle doing.

Hillary! was always the one who wanted to be President. Billy Jeff wanted to be JFK, but he was in it for the free interns, not the office itself. He sprang his weird plan—informal “co-presidents”, “two-for-the-price-of-one”—shortly after inauguration. What he obviously had in mind was for her to be Mr President while he played doctor under the desk with any woman who wandered by. But the public and the Washington pros seemed unimpressed, and of course Hillary never managed to take charge in any meaningful way.

NOT. A. CHANCE. IN. HELL.

It will not happen. Michelle Obama has no stomach for campaigning. She only barely did campaign appearances begrudgingly for Barack. She won’t give extended campaign-style speeches, and most of the ones she has given in the past have given rise to some of the most critical reviews in modern history (how many of you remember “for really the first time in my life, I’m proud of my country.”)?

Dont under estimate the power of the black race vote.

Democrats know running a black candidate will tie up the black vote good and proper as they will vote for ger because of the colour of her skin.

Fat Mike would wither under fire, and beclown her/himself in debates. (Except against romney.)

An empty gorilla suit, at best. A talentless, America-hating wretch at worst.

She has no credentials for political office, no business background of leadership to show, she married a president and has expressed racist tendencies though because she is black isn’t called out on it. She failed as a lawyer. So, she is pretty much Hillary without the after WH stay run in the Senate.

I fear her running, as there are women who would vote for her for “historic” reasons. The Democrat marching in lock step voters would vote for her. The Black vote and probably other minorities joining at least somewhat in.

She could win, with zero qualifying her to the highest office in the land, and some would say of the world. Kiss this country good bye if she does.

How have we come to this? This is celebrity over substance to the worst degree possible. Could we have sunken this low? I fear so.

    mailman in reply to oldgoat36. | April 25, 2019 at 6:56 am

Because all that matters to Democrats is winning. They couldn’t give a flying fuck about whether their candidate will destroy the country. As long as they win that is all that matters to these wankers.

    Carl in reply to oldgoat36. | April 25, 2019 at 1:42 pm

What if Michelle ran for POTUS and simultaneously named Barack as her VP nominee, promising that if elected she would immediately resign the Presidency and Barack would roll into another term as her replacement. That would clearly be legal under Amendments XXII and XXV (Section 1) and, in fact, could be repeated for the next election.

Close The Fed in reply to oldgoat36. | April 25, 2019 at 8:33 pm

Because for reasons I currently can’t fathom, our ancestors gave people without property the vote, gave women the vote, and they removed the state legislators as the selectors of senators.

bobinreverse | April 25, 2019 at 5:50 am

Always think Barry should run again himself. All he has to do is convince Roberts and then he has 5 sup ct votes to make it all legal.

    oldgoat36 in reply to bobinreverse. | April 25, 2019 at 6:42 am

You know if the left had their way he would have been pronounced dictator in chief for life, just so he could work his magic with the economy and the Constitution as Jarrett saw fit.

Christopher B | April 25, 2019 at 6:41 am

It could happen but the chances are really small. Given the 2016 GOP experience it’s still likely a single candidate will have at least a sizeable majority of delegates due to the allocation rules, even with a large field. More than half of the current candidates will either drop out or wind up with no delegates. Giving the nomination to someone who never ran and has no delegates is going to start an open revolt. Even the GOPe recognized that was a non-starter in 2016, and I have a hard time thinking anybody is more hated by the party establishment than Trump was.

Well, it’ll appeal to the “We have to elect a black woman! Because racism!” crowd.

I first made this exact point a few weeks ago. I don’t think it’s going to happen only because 2020 is hopeless for the Dems no matter what. For the Wookie to run in a hopeless election and lose would spell the end of the Obama legacy forever. I do believe that the Dems donors realize this so they will probably try to salvage something for 2024 by sweeping the entire field clean with a message to build on. There is no Obama legacy to build on. Romney would be a better candidate for the Dems if that were their intention.

In fact, there is no viable establishment candidate in either party. And the anti-establishment sentiment has become an insurmountable hurdle (see Romney). I just don’t see the Wookie running. I expect the new IG, FBI and congressional investigations will soon be delving into the Obama involvement in several scandals and that will paralyze everyone. I can’t see the dirty money stepping up to the plate again to back this lost cause.

pablo panadero | April 25, 2019 at 8:00 am

The 2020 Democratic nominee’s first name is Mark. Last name is either Zuckerberg or Cuban.

Just what this country neeeds another USELESS POS as an elected official? Especially one that had to give up her law license, just before being disbarred. Just like the husband that sealed his records.

Make no mistake El Burnmeister is a dedicated Communist and if elected will Burn this nation and Republic to the ground.

Biden is a total buffoon however he is not the clear and present danger to the Republic that the Burnmeister is.

The Black Hillary, but without the accomplishments (such as they are).

And the campaign commercials write themselves.

“Michelle 2020: The Past Is Prologue”

“A wife running as a front for her husband’s third term? Where have we seen that before? Oh yeah!”

Cut to a screenshot of a Lurleen Wallace campaign poster as AL governor, with the slogan “Let Lurleen run, but let George do it!”

(Actual history, BTW)

Then as her face morphs into Michelle and Barack replaces George, we can run through a list of Obama failures and leftist policies. Make sure to include a list of proposals for “whites not allowed” proposals such as segregated dorms with a soundtrack of George’s “Segregation Then, Segregation Now, Segregation Forever!” and then cut to a Black Lives Matter crowd shot.

“Do Americans actually want those policies back?”

LukeHandCool | April 25, 2019 at 3:47 pm

This wouldn’t completely surprise me.

But, if this were to occur, wouldn’t a lot of hard core Bernie supporters (is there any other kind?), feeling they were cheated yet again, stay home on election day? A childhood friend of mine supported Bernie in 2016 and when it came out that the fix was in, I’d say his loathing of Hillary just about came to equal his loathing of Trump. He ended up not voting. He certainly would have voted for Hillary had everything been on the up and up. I think the same thing would happen if Michelle stepped in at the last minute. These people probably have a closer affinity to Michelle than Hillary–Michelle being further to the left, checks more intersectional boxes–but getting screwed for the second time in a row would likely prove to be too much to bear and erase this benefit.

One question I have is how does anybody admire Michelle or find her appealing? In addition to her “this is the first time I’ve ever been proud of my country” and other such irritating moments before she became First Lady, after leaving the White House she’s at times been unnecessarily snarky and mean-spirited. Her dissing of Melania Trump giving her a present when power changed hand was extremely churlish; especially in light of video coming out that she did the exact same thing when the Obamas took over—she is seen handing First Lady Bush a present.

I guess the power of the establishment media to market self-pitying, absurdly aggrieved people as pure sunshine and puppies shows that, although the old-time media behemoths face more competition and don’t have the sway they used to … they can still fool a very large percentage of the electorate.

Close The Fed in reply to LukeHandCool. | April 25, 2019 at 8:45 pm

As far as admiring Michelle Obama, because of history and because blacks don’t have as many people in the upper echelons of society, I’m sure most blacks are happy to admire her.

She’s their very first, First Lady.

And she’s really an American black, unlike her husband.

B Buchanan in reply to LukeHandCool. | April 25, 2019 at 9:42 pm

In my neck of the woods (Silicon Valley) Michelle is still very much admired, especially by women, irrespective of race. They feel she has “class.” And, not being proud of the US and being snarky about Pres. Trump are seen as features.

Apologies for the down vote LHC. I have fat fingers.

So, which voting blocs would M.O. appeal to?

1. The “black vote”—I don’t think this is a lock. It’s not only a blatantly racist bloc, it’s also intensely misogynist.

2. The “woman’s vote”—she’d be whipped worse than Hillary in 2016. She wouldn’t have the same appeal to the “glass ceiling” crowd as Hillary did.

3. The “let’s make history” crowd—the “first women President” would be overshadowed by the “second black President” thing. These voters would go big for a white candidate; nobody else will really do.

4. The socialists—this one’s tricky; the D’rats will want to pander to it without actually surrendering to it. But as long as Bernie’s around, anyone else just won’t be the real deal, and I can’t see them flocking to someone with no bona-fide socialist creds. Really bad school lunches are nobody’s idea of the splendors of the socialist state.

Me me me chelle was great at spending millions of taxpayer dollars on vacations with her entourage. She’s a grifter.

She might “run” but she’ll never win.

Really?

Please, please RUN ….

1st – Spygate is coming out more and more! I would love to see you and your husband squirm!
2nd – When you loose, you read it first here:
” WHAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE OBAMA LOSS? ”
The Blame Game Vol 1001 will begin as she is no longer Proud to be an American!
3rd – Do we let the kids vote, > those that had to eat or more accurately REJECT your lunch program?

Yes … yes ….. please!

Once America is exposed to this illiterate lunk head Affirmative Action will finally be declared a disaster.
