Ocasio-Cortez reveals Democrat Green New Deal, it’s Republicans’ dream campaign issue

Rebuild all the things, plant lots of trees, and eliminate FARTING cows…

Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unveiled the resolution for her Green New Deal with Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA). The resolution could cost up to $7 trillion. She stated that this deal “calls for a ‘national, social, industrial and economic mobilization at a scale not seen since World War II.'”

Somehow Ocasio-Cortez managed to fit into this Green New Deal a guaranteed job and health care for everyone.

On Twitter, Lee Doren found a quote that proves this Green New Deal will hit the poor people the most.

The Resolution

The Washington Examiner summed it up:

It calls for “net-zero greenhouse gas emissions” by 2030, but in a subtle shift that could expand support to centrist Democrats, it also allows for noncarbon-emitting energy sources that aren’t wind and solar power to reach the goal. Progressives had originally promised 100 percent renewable energy and banning fossil fuels.

It urges the elimination of carbon emissions for all the major sectors of the economy — electricity, manufacturing, buildings, transportation, and even agriculture — all while ensuring a “fair and just transition for all communities and workers.”

The resolution proposes massive public investments in clean energy infrastructure on things such as light rail and weatherized buildings.

The plan calls for the availability of a job to anybody who wants one, making every residential and industrial building more energy efficient, and building a national “smart” grid to better incorporate wind and solar power. It also calls for universal healthcare.

The resolution has no official price tag or specific plan on how to pay for all of this. Instead, Ocasio-Cortez hopes to pay for it it by “the federal government, using a combination of the Federal Reserve, a new public bank or system of regional and specialized public banks, public venture funds and such other vehicles or structures that the select committee deems appropriate, in order to ensure that interest and other investment returns generated from public investments made in connection with the plan will be returned to the treasury, reduce taxpayer burden and allow for more investment.”

In other words, it’s pure socialism and it’s really all a dream. Here is a dose of common sense: Mother Nature controls the climate. I find it hilarious that humans think we have this ability to control everything. What are you going to do? Yell at the sky and tell Mother Nature to change? Humans are a small blip in earth’s history and climate has always changed. It will continue to change. Humans can survive by adapting.

I mean, this is ridiculous.

Yes, a guaranteed job for everyone. From The Hill:

The resolution asks the select committee to take into account historic racial, gender, economic and other inequalities and consider including programs like basic income and universal healthcare, while having labor unions take a leading role in implementation.

“What she asks for in this manifesto goes beyond decarbonization and gets into a progressive wishlist to fix what they perceive as all that ails society,” [Institute for Energy Research President Tom] Pyle said.

It’s a Long Shot

Timothy Cama wrote in The Hill that the resolution doesn’t mention how America “should wean itself off of non-renewable sources” nor does it have a price tag:

Such a dramatic energy transition would undoubtedly come with an exorbitant price tag. It would involve a massive build-out of new electric generation, transmission and storage, and it would likely necessitate new technologies, particularly for storage, since wind and solar cannot always generate power at all times of the day.

The United States got only 17 percent of its electricity last year from renewable sources, with 7.5 percent coming from hydropower, according to the Energy Information Administration.

While some cities, states and countries have set goals to completely switch to renewables, real-world deployments are practically nonexistent at this point.

And since the Green New Deal hasn’t been fleshed out, no comprehensive cost analysis exists.

A back-of-the-envelope calculation by Christopher Clack, a physicist who has studied rapid deployments of renewables, estimated that building out the generating capacity alone would cost at least $2 trillion.

“It’s a daunting task, and I’m not sure that the authors of the Green New Deal fully comprehend how much they’ll need,” he said.

From Fox News:

Institute for Energy Research president Tom Pyle was more blunt: “One hundred percent renewable energy defies the laws of physics. It would be impossible to achieve.”

And Paul Bledsoe, a strategic adviser at the Progressive Policy Institute, said progressives were overcompensating. “I understand the value of aspirational goals,” Bledsoe said. “My personal view is, that undermines the credibility of the effort.”

Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) brushed it aside:

The California Democrat did agree to launch a select committee on climate change, similar to the one she created back in 2007, when she first became speaker. Pelosi said Wednesday, however, the panel would not be tasked with writing a specific bill, and brushed off the idea of the Green New Deal as a “suggestion.”

“It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,” Pelosi said. “The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?”

Pelosi has long championed stronger environmental rules, and described climate change as her “flagship” political issue.

Lefties’ approaches to problems always crack me up. See, all you have to do is pass a law, and the problem is solved. Presto!

This reminds me of Pharaoh Yul Brenner (The Ten Commandments (1956), with the proverbial “cast of 000s”) uttering numerous times, while striking his upper chest, the memorable phrase, “Let it be written. Let it be done.”

Please, please, will someone ask her if she understands the first law of thermodynamics–energy can neither be created nor destroyed. And it’s belching (burping), not farting that is the issue.

Wow, the stupid is infinite with this one. I don’t know how anyone with two brain cells to rub together could believe this crap.

All you have to do is “voluntarily” give over to the collective all property you acquired through oppression of others. Then they provide you with the secret passcode for drawing down your personal “fair share”.

Unless you’re sent off to the #Gulags, of course. (In that circumstance please search me out. Seems likely that would be in my future.)

She’s from that planet of stupid women in the Star Trek episode “Spock’s Brain.”

I wonder, who would win a debate between Jar Jar Binks and AOC? A close call, but I have to say Jar Jar.

Unfortunately, otherwise educated people who are lefty ideologues are eating this up.

This mindless, insane crap is never going to end.

This is a gift from God for the GOP. Even die-hard leftists know that just one part of this wet dream would bankrupt the nation. Take air travel for instance. Imagine doing away with airplanes! Instead of having 350 people on one plane traveling you would have 350 autos doing the same thing. How green is that? Think of all the industry associated with aviation and how many hundreds of thousands would be out of highly paid,(Taxable), jobs! I guess the good news is that the useless airports all over the country could be used to house the unemployed and homeless! These people are at a child’s level of intellect.

Let me know when there is a high speed train between my house and my doctors office and another one between my house and the grocery store. I don’t guess there will have to be one between my house and a gas station, so there is that.

In AOC’s math, the shortest distance between two points appears to be a downward spiral.

I bet AOC also promises a dog and two cats. Well behaving ones, of course. The dog restraints itself from barking to loud, and buries its own poop. And the two cats are potty trained. And ALL THREE OETS recycle their poop for energy production.

Representative Republics are awesome. Where else in the world could this woman have any power and infuence?

Eliminating Farting Cows is deeply problematic.

I have it on good authority that this has been attempted. Seems kangaroos have digestive tracts which don’t produce methane as a byproduct of fecal decay. So, an agricultural station in California tried this: They basically prepared selected cows with the equivalent of colonoscopy preparation, and then gave them fecal transplants from kangaroos. The resulting fecal material did, in fact, not produce methane. However, when the resulting cow plop was applied to the station vegetable garden, the outcome was deemed unacceptable. Seems those eating the vegetables from that garden started elongating their vowels, Aussie fashion. True story, look it up.

Look she used to be a bartender, she ought to know about money, how things are bought and paid for, right?
Ask her how many zeroes are in a trillion….

She also apparently has a degree in Economics (cough, cough). Wonder what kind of economics they teach at Boston College? Oh, it must be the Common Core Economics! That explains everything!

Boston College has produced its own set of knuckleheads,* but can’t claim AOC. Her degree came from Boston University.

*For example, Boston College Law School gave Baltimore Marilyn Mosby (of Freddy Gray fame), proving that AA is alive and unwell at BC. BC Law also gave us John Kerry. Incompetent students; perhaps incompetent teachers.

She has an affirmative degree, perhaps enhanced by her being really nice to her professors. Puerto Rico actually has a national average IQ two points lower than American blacks. Their economy was a basket case long before the hurricane, with a collective debt of $70 billion. About half of the people are drawing welfare paid for by Americans.

Adding insult to injury, PR has been trying to become a state so that US taxpayers will foot even more of their bills.

Chavez in a skirt. When does she start building bridges between continents, seeing as how there will be no planes, or will we be able to travel just by saying “beam me up Scotty.”

It’s nice for AOC to put down specifics in writing for all to see, instead of speaking in generalities. As for those specifics… they are a cow fart in the wind.

Typical city person. Doesn’t have a clue how cattle digestive systems work. Cattle can not fart. They bloat before they fart. Next thing she will do is say our food is manufactured in the back of the supermarket.

    JusticeDelivered in reply to Stan25. | February 7, 2019 at 4:02 pm

There are lots of people ignorant of all sorts of things related to production of food and other stuff. Early in my engineering career we had one of those mobile snack trucks come by, at which time we took a 15 minute break.

One morning. late winter-early spring we had gotten stuff and headed back to a large open office area and were talking. One guy had opened his OJ, taken a couple drinks, and then suddenly spit it out. There was a maggot, alive on on a mylar drawing which was in process.

It was all about timing, in that given a few more days that maggot would have been just another bit of pulp.

I did controls design for automation and process applications at that time. I often had to do startup and debug at plants.

Canning operations get a lot of the poor grade fruits and vegetables. They come in as semi loads or train car loads, depending on the plant. At that time it was common for there to be a conveyor when people picked the worst stuff off. Still, lots of worms inside fruit make it through.

Next time you drink OJ, or eat applesauce, remember there is always a bit of free protein.

Per Byron York: The AOC/Markey Green New Deal promises much more than net-zero emissions. It promises jobs, justice, health care, education, — all that, plus ‘economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.’ http://ow.ly/wAu830nCrhq

We cannot afford this unless we greatly reduce the number of recipients. Start by tossing out all illegals, all of their children, all welfare recipients and all Muslims whom Obama let in.

Would that make it affordable? Probably not.

OK, what if we add Democrats to the list?

TrickyRicky in reply to JusticeDelivered. | February 7, 2019 at 2:20 pm

The global elites actually espouse radical depopulation of the planet. This has been “a thing” in European ecofreak circles for years. A target of 2 billion or less seems to be considered optimal. Not only does this course of action “save the planet” it coincidentally makes for a lot less serfs to control. Here is someone with some clout speaking about this:

“If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels” -Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh

Guess you missed Sandy Ocasio’s other brilliant announcement on Thursday. She vowed to de-fund ICE and make “latinos” immune to U.S. immigration laws because she says they are descended from Meso-American native cultures that pre-dated the U.S.

“We are standing on native land,” [referring to the U.S. Capitol], and latino people are descendants of native people. And we cannot be told, and criminalized, simply because for [sic] our identity or our status. Period.”

Economically, scientifically, and historically illiterate. Sandy’s the whole package. The whole package of stupid.

“It’s a daunting task, and I’m not sure that the authors of the Green New Deal fully comprehend how much they’ll need,” he said.

Oh, they comprehend it, all right. All Socialist variants are about control. That’s the essence of all socialist ideas—that everything (the economy, society, entertainment, travel, foreign relations, etc) works better if it’s controlled in detail by an all-powerful, all-seeing central committee.

And we already know what happens in real life. When the dreams of an ultra-efficient government collapse into bankruptcy, ruin and crime, the control still continues . . . to the great benefit of whoever’s on the central committee.

So it really doesn’t matter how brainless or megalomaniacal the plan is; it will never actually happen. It doesn’t have to; it’s not really intended to. It’s just window-dressing to make the whole control scheme seem attractive.

Close The Fed in reply to tom_swift. | February 7, 2019 at 4:01 pm

Well, Tom, really, it doesn’t benefit the central committee members greatly – just more than the average person.

As anyone my age (59 forEVER!) will tell you, Boris Yeltsin found out when he was 56 that in Dallas Texas grocery stores, they had things there for sale to anyone off the street with cash, things that members of the Politburo couldn’t even get at their super-elite store. On any street corner in Dallas.

He was 56 before he found out, and it changed him. I was 14 or so when I found out how much better our system is. I read the news magazines and they had pitiable photos of the insides and outside of Soviet “stores.”

She just thinks she will fare better. In the short run perhaps. In the long run, not even she will fare better.

don’t even have to go that far back, think Venezuela, Cuba, and Zimbabwe, you could probably through in South Africa too. See how her plan worked out for them

It’s tough to outduel stupidity of this level – this needs to be included in every campaign commercial for 2020…every single one.

The risk is that with a dumbed down electorate this has a chance. Don’t get me wrong , its insane but the populist nature of it will gather momentum amongst the ignorant.

It also highlights one more reason why there never should have been any bailout of Fannie, Freddie, AIG or ANY Wall Street bank. Everyone says AOC and crew don’t say how they will pay for it… but they are wrong… its right there in the document. They want the Fed to print the money to pay for it. The rationale is clear… the Fed printed trillions of dollars to bail out the banks, etc. so why not to fund this fairy tale that will help everyone with printed money as well!!

    What could possibly go wrong?

Never has a bartender been more transparently witless, egotistical, self-aggrandizing, and, dangerous beyond belief.

This twit accomplished absolutely nothing, zero, zip, nada, bupkis, in the private sector, but, now that she’s got herself a comfy Dumb-o-crat sinecure, she, like all vain, self-congratulatory, arrogant and power-hungry apparatchik-demagogues, wants to destroy individual freedom, while empowering the totalitarian State and its bureaucrats and apparatchiks.

The rapidly changing us demographic will easily pass this plan and way sooner than anyone on here can ever imagine. Tks

Vile and insufferable Occassional-Cortex — along with her Dumb-o-crat brethren — proves rather definitively that the primary motivating factor undergirding Dumb-o-crat apparatchiks and their schemes, isn’t altruism, or, magnanimity, or, goodwill; rather, it is a noxious, infantile and pathological egotism and messianic self-reverence.

Cows might have the bomb by then.

The modern day version of her new green world is already viewable… any Afghanistan goat herding village is the perfect example. If the Greens don’t get us there in 10 years, eventually their backing of Fundamental Islam will.

That “printing as much money as needed” doesn’t trigger visions of failed states… nothing will. The Peter Principle has reached new heights.

Getting worked up and treating this as anything but a joke is exactly their point. I doubt most Dems will support this so the only thin she needs to do is get Republicans to treat this as if it’s serious.

“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘Green New Deal’ calls for US to ‘upgrade or replace’ every building in the country.”

If you’ve ever suffered the agony of driving in a city in the vicinity of major construction or work on a single building … Imagine the traffic gridlock with every building in the country being rebuilt or replaced. Wait. Cars will be illegal … so there won’t be any traffic. Okay, she’s won me over.

Invest $1 and get $6 ?? More like invest $1 and get $100.

Many commentators say that proponents of the GND don’t say how they will pay for it but the explanation of how to pay for it is right there in the document. They want the Fed to just print trillions of dollars to pay for it all.

This is one more reason why there never should have been any bailout of Fannie, Freddie, AIG or ANY Wall Street bank. Their argument is hey, the Fed printed trillions of dollars to bail out the banks, etc. so why not to fund this fairy tale that will help EVERYONE by printing money as well!!

“farting cows and airplanes”

My now 90 year farter had saved a bunch of Big Little books from when he was a teen, including Flash Gorden. I loved those, especially the the movie part in the top right hand corner where you fanned the pages.

The left is color-obsessed and discriminatory (i.e. diversity). That said, green drivers, and grey, non-renewable, environmentally disruptive (e.g. blight) technology infamous for intermittent energy production.

Let’s move on from “fossil” fuels, and embrace the hydrocarbons of today and tomorrow. Also, stop aborting and sequestering carbon-based molecules, and lifeforms, notably human.

    JusticeDelivered in reply to n.n. | February 7, 2019 at 11:16 pm

Perhaps the best approach to energy production are hybrid systems. For example, solar electric where the solar panels are cooled by circulating water or other working fluid, and that hot water then drives an absorption chiller for air conditioning. Excess power during the day is used to freeze water for nighttime cooling.

Battery technology is improving , with numerous very promising technologies which will make storing electricity cost effective.

Diesel backup and peak load could produce hot water to power the same absorption chiller and electricity.

There are advantages to loosely coupled power generation, in that such systems are inherently more robust, they do not have single point failures which take out all the power, and they lower power grid strain on very hot days.

I am not saying fossil fuels do not have a place in energy production, but so do other technologies.

The power of the future will come from molten salt reactors (MSRs) called LFTRs (Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors, pronounced lifters). The Chinese will build them, using technology the US developed six decades ago, and we graciously allowed them to have. If we’re still on good terms with them, maybe they’ll sell some to us.

I can’t belive this idiot is in Congress along with the Palestinian idiot and the Muslim who married her brother idiot

Farting cows just need Meta Moo-cil.

Print money, print money, print money once tax the rich fails. That’s answer to every socialist program the craziest of the crazies dream up. Of course, there will be no inflation or hyper-inflation using this technique. People’s life savings and personal fortunes won’t be wiped out. The country will not be poorer, or set back 100 years. I guess we are leveling the playing field with Cuba, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. American exceptionalism will be wiped from the country’s vocabulary. We will be below average at best. What a brilliant plan! May AOC be the first to cork-up a cow’s behind.

We had flatulence at the Kavanaugh hearings and now we are talking about cow farts. Is this the best we can do to represent us?

If we just eliminated the liberals that would get rid of most of the flatulence in the world and could single-handed solve the “global warming” problem. The earth would be saved from AOC without resorting to these draconian measures. s

We already had one Green New Deal, only now we call it the “Solyndra Scandal” after the first of many “green” companies taken through bankruptcy to pay back friends and family of the Democrat Party.

The entire “Climate Change” hysteria is a scam. No politician, anywhere, takes it seriously. If they did, they would spend the money on projects rationally related to solving the “problem.” Instead, they use the money for “wealth distribution” to their friends and family.

“DJT’s EPA gave a grant to Flint Michigan to clean up their lead water pipes, as part of an overall plan to upgrade the nation’s water infrastructure.”

This was a big scam. I grew up in Flint, left in 1967. We all drank river water which flowed through lead service lines.

What happened in Flint is that they collected water system maintenance fees for sixty years, but they squandered most of that money on everything but the water system. They also continued to use the original water plant for backup. Every year the ran month long trial runs, and they represented the plant as being functional.

As long as I can remember Flint has schemed to get people outside the city to pay their way.

Lead service lines are each homeowners responsibility, very few homeowners ever bothered. Also, they did not bother to replace lead bearing plumbing or fixtures.

People using wells in Michigan all have to contend with dangerous levels of arsenic. Also high mineral levels. We all buy our own equipment and must maintain it.

Flint residents could have fixed their water problem with a $150 reverse osmosis water filter.

What the local political crooks did was scream racism, and con the state into spending over $20,000 per residence for homes which have a market value of $3,000 to $4,000.

Most of that money is being spent in ghetto areas. It is a complete waste.

The bottom line is that Flint is run by incompetents and crooks.

This will only be a “dream campaign issue” if we go out of our way to inform and educate low information voters who might otherwise be swayed by the (organic) honeyed words of the Green-crazy Democrats because we didn’t take the time and effort to teach them about all the insanity contained in the “Green New Deal”.

Farting Cow must be her Native American name.

Google panera care article and read some stories about what happens when you give people free stuff. Socialism is great except that it fails to take human nature into account. This is exactly the opposite of the capitalism, which is entirely driven by human nature, and intentionally so.

I grew up around cows and the ones I knew didn’t ever fart. Horses do, cows don’t. Problem solved.

Gidget keeps doubling down on crazy. Thank God.

I am not judging the Green Deal. I am proposing ending regulatory quackery. Any new rule must be tested in a small jurisdiction, such as a county, and proven safe and effective. Unintended consequences should be listed. If successful, it should be retested in a larger jurisdiction, such as a state region, then in a state, then it may be proposed for the nation.

Regulatory quackery violates the constitution’s Fifth Amendment procedural right to due process. It is a taking without compensation, serving no proper governmental purpose.

Communism is the control of the economy by government. It is a continuous measurement like temperature or length. One does not need the deed to an asset to control it. Regulation is a form of Communism. If it provides a valid benefit to the majority of the population, it is justified. Businesses pass on all costs to consumers, anyway. Clean air regs add $billions to costs of all products, but they have saved millions of lives not taken by respiratory disease. The value of those lives may be deducted from the costs by policy makers and by the courts.

The informed voter should decide if eliminating animals from our diets is worth the extra 3 years it will add to our lifespan. Policy makers should inform them that an extra 3 years of life will bust Social Security, as the reduction of smoking is already doing.

The lawyer is carrying out procedures on our bodies. The profession should be forced to prove its rules are safe and effective.

This is what a pretty face and current education results in. A degree in economics and her best employment is as a bartender. Marxist indoctrination is no preparation for useful work, but always an opening with the commie party.
