McConnell to Bring Green New Deal Up for a Vote

McConnell to Bring Green New Deal Up for a Vote

Put your money where your mouth is, Democrats

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01EtjUk6KFw

Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader McConnell announced the Senate would be voting on the Green New Deal introduced by freshman Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez.

Mary covered the “bill” in detail here.

And giddy McConnell is. Check out that little smirk at the end of the clip.

The bill reads like a kindergartener’s wish list for saving the world. From eliminating cow farts to remodeling every.single.building.in.the.US to helping all the poor people with magical money that doesn’t exist, getting Democrats on record supporting this piece of garbage is the absolute right thing to do.

When it was introduced last week, Democrat presidential contenders couldn’t jump on the bandwagon fast enough. A move we predicted will explode in the most glorious of fashions come election crunch time.

He wants the Dems on record. It isn’t even a bill, it is a non-binding resolution.

The Turtle is a corrupt dinosaur, hogging the Senate GOP leadership position, doing the hack of a job he’s done for 30 years.

Speaking of clowns, the teacher grading Gidget Cortez’s badhigh school paper (President Trump) was proved right – again:

California to pull plug on $77 billion bullet train, cites ballooning costs:
      https://www.foxnews.com/

Cortez is as as great of a lamebrain as we believe, and she exists only on the shoulders of dumb limosine liberals – and GOPe hacks like McConnell.

CA could have funded the entire border wall with what it spent already on the crazy train to nowhere. They can’t/won’t even account for where the money they already spent went. Much went to graft. Given how far over budget they already are, there is no way $77B would have been the final cost. Why not just take that money and burn it?

Of course Newsome plans to give that money (and much more) away to illegals and other “green world” beneficiaries. The world has gone totally nuts.

Note that Newsome has no intention of giving back the several billion dollars that Obama gifted them for the train.

If those were tax breaks to a private company and they reneged so badly as Cali, the Cali gov would be in court trying to recover the money they gave away.
Trump should sic the DOJ on Cali to get the federal money back.

Trump needs to claw back all unused funds. Better yet, sue California for receiving funds under false pretenses. While the case is being litigated, escrow funds otherwise due to them. The fireworks would be rather entertaining.

Obviously an unpopular comment, but I remember all too well how Turtle abandoned us to play it easy with Odumbo.

We can trust him like we can trust bill krystol.

In this case, a distinction without a difference.

txvet2, your cynicism is duly noted and not unwarranted. In this instance, the gnd is so outrageously stupid, and so many prominent progs jumped into the abyss without reading it, that forcing them to put up or shut up is a priceless maneuver.

McConnell is striking while the iron is hot. Get these idiots to show their stupidity or perfidy while the issue is still in the news cycle. Fewer folks will forget come election time.

When 2020 gets here, I think far more people will still never have heard of this thing, or won’t think it’s an issue because of the fact that it was clearly DOA, nor will anyone never be reminded by a media that will not bother to remind them.

It doesn’t hurt to take a vote. But does it give the (R)s a political advantage? Maybe – but only if (R) candidates make it an issue in races where it would matter. And on the House or Senate level, where would it matter? What (D) who is in a tight race would vote on this? No one in a risky seat would vote in favor of this. The only people who are going to vote for this are the lunatics of the lunatics, and I don’t see how they can lose their constituents because the only reason the lunatics of the lunatics are in Congress is because uber-lunatics voted for them.

Trump could hammer a presidential candidate with this. But he could do that without a vote. All any (D) candidate at any level has to say is – it was a starting point, and tens of millions of voters will say “uh-huh, about damn time.”

It’s extremely not smart to think – aha! This will put the (D) party in a pickle in 2020! Really? It wasn’t too long ago that this nonsense wouldn’t be supported by anyone of significance. Now we have multiple presidential candidates and members of Congress on board.

What was once thought to be ridiculous is now being sent to Congress by voters.

(R)s are horrible at going on offense. Mitch is playing by 20th century rules.

Taking meaningless votes on dead end bills.

Oh, it’s not meaningless. It’s a Stalinesque Ten-Year Plan (as good as two Five-Year Plans in series) and the Senate is giving the D’rats a chance to put their support on record.

      txvet2 in reply to tom_swift. | February 12, 2019 at 8:31 pm

Meanwhile, they’re doing exactly nothing substantial on a host of problems facing the country, like, oh, funding a border wall, infanticide, getting the government out of the health care business, et al. Symbolic votes are just that. A week from now even those few people who are even aware that a vote was taken will have forgotten it, and the GOP won’t remind them. I reiterate: The GOP is good for nothing but taking meaningless symbolic votes. (I’ll give credit for getting a few judges confirmed, but that’s it.)

BTW, with this ploy, McConnell keeps the issue front and center as the dems humiliate themselves trying to stay balanced on a collapsing fence.

What chance is there that AOC is schizo or bipolar?

Looking at those bug eyes, I’d say the odds are better than average.

She has whatever Adam Schiff has. Robin Williams identified a similar look in the eyes of Charles Manson – it says, “Helter-skelter, helter-skelter.”

    This is Gidget:

“Pathological, Defensive Narcissism: This is a defense against feelings of inferiority. The person dons a mask of arrogant superiority in an attempt to convince the world that he or she is special. Inside, the person feels very insecure about his or her actual self-worth. This façade of superiority is so thin, that it is like a helium balloon—one small pinprick will deflate it. This makes the person hypersensitive to minor slights that someone with healthy narcissism would not even notice. Instead, someone with this type of defensive narcissism is easily wounded, frequently takes any form of disagreement as a serious criticism, and is likely to lash out and devalue anyone who they think is disagreeing with them. They are constantly on guard trying to protect their status. Pathological Narcissism can be thought of as protective armor that is on the outside of us.”

Knowing Mitch, he’ll screw it up and get the bill passed and the New Green Deal will be law

This is nothing but a sideshow. McConnell needs something to distract from the giant s**t sandwich spending bill that the Congress is bringing up to send to the POTUS. McConnell, et al, has a big problem. The Trump base will not go for the spending bill. So, what to do? Use the GND as a squirrel to distract the public and make it look as though McConnell is in control of the situation.

The GND is a resolution, not a bill. So, all that the Senate would be doing is saying it agrees with the basic points of the resolution. None of the points in the resolution will hurt Dems in the primaries. And, it is a year and a half until the next general election. Plenty of time for the Dems to tweak what parts they think are good ideas and which are not. Voting on this resolution will do nothing to harm Dems. As for Dem Presidential candidates, whoever become the nominee is almost assured to have every single anti-Trump vote in the country. Becoming the nominee is the problem, and the more radical they appear, the better. But, it allows the GOP leadership, in the Senate, to distract the people from the fact that the GOP leadership will NOT back the Prez.

    tom_swift in reply to Mac45. | February 13, 2019 at 1:16 am

It won’t hurt them in the primaries, but it will drive them further left. When an orgy of socialist fervor overcomes the delegates, the chances of the D’rats being able to slip in a relatively moderate candidate at the last minute plummet. Then, this New Communist Manifesto will kill the Party in the general election.

So, how do D’rat senators avoid this trap? Don’t go on record as supporting the New Manifesto. But that just fractures the Party, and that’s a major deal, since the D’rats major political strength is absolute Borg lockstep behavior; once that’s cracked, they’re likely to fall apart—much like the Whigs in 1854, trying to deal with the Kansas-Nebraska Act and the Democrat’s attempt to increase the number of slave states.

Wishful thinking, I’m afraid. If this cropped up just before the general elections, in 20 months, it might have an effect. But, even if a Dem politician endorsed it today, there is still time for that candidate to totally disassociate himself from any “support” for the GND. It is already being declared nothing more than a “conversation starter” by Dem spokesmen and the MSM. And, because it was introduced by AOC, when its obvious terminal flaws are clearly documented, she is really the only one who will really feel the fallout. So, initial support for the basic concepts in the resolution will only have an effect on sitting politicians, IF they attempt to implement any of them through legislation. And, that is extremely unlikely to happen in the next couple of years. So, there is really no reason for sitting Dem politicians to vote against the GND resolution.

We have some real stupids on here posting today.

At best, this will fracture the Dem party when they refuse to vote for it.

At worst, this will still cost them centrist support should they all vote for it.

Brilliant chess move.

Actually, no senator has to vote for or against the resolution. The members can vote present or simply not vote at all. And, as NONE of these people has to run for reelection for another year, voting for it would not harm them much. If anything, it protects the Democrat Party, by having the Republicans, in the Senate, slap AOC down, without forcing the Dems to publicly dirty their hands doing it. And, the Democrat leadership really wants to put a leash on AOC, before the primaries next year.

This is nothing more than a place holder for the next four days, until the next shutdown date rolls around. It may be brought to the floor for a vote, in a month or so. Then again, it might quietly slip away. But, either way, any vote on it now is not going to harm most Dems one way or the other, 20 months from now, on election day.

      EricG in reply to Mac45. | February 13, 2019 at 12:55 am

If most Democrats simply don’t vote, that would humiliate AOC more than just losing the vote.

If it’s non-binding, Republican could just vote present. Dems and MSM would go crazy if it passed, scaring away moderates.

        Mac45 in reply to EricG. | February 13, 2019 at 1:39 pm

Most of the moderates in the Democrat party left long ago. They are Independent Trump voters now. The Dems will continue to dominate in the coastal regions, where they enjoy a huge majority of radical liberals. And, as the emigration of moderate liberals from these regions into moderate and conservative regions inland continues, this will swing those areas more toward the Democrat Party. And, candidates in those regions are unlikely to be sitting Dem politicians, but rather new comers who will adapt their public politics to the region they intend to represent.

As to humiliating AOC, the Dems do not care. The Dem leadership did not want her in office to begin with. She is a loose cannon and an embarrassment to the Party leadership. She stands a good chance of being primaried out in 2020, if the party leadership turns on her.

That Mitch McCommunist is one slick guy ! He couldn’t get Obamacare repealed, funding for The Wall, or shut down all the Illegal Alien Tools (e.g., Anchor Babies, Chain Migration, National Lottery); he couldn’t find the time to bring the National Reciprocity Act passed by Lyin Paul Ryan’s House while Republicans controlled Congress. BUT HE CAN FIND THE TIME FOR BS “SHOW VOTES” AND “AH, SCHUCKS, MISSED IT BY ONE; IF ONLY WE CONTROLLED HEAVEN……..”, so please send donations and continue to elect Establishment Republicrat RINOs.

It’s a wonderful thing to have the time to play politics, get the Demtards on record to support asinine policies like the Green New Deal, but CAN THIS AWFUL AND LESS THAN USELESS REPUBLICAN MAJORITY LEADER DO ANYTHING THAT MATTERS LIKE DUMPING THE FILIBUSTER TOOL TO CONFIRM ORIGINALIST JUDGES??

He found the time to interfere in the Alabama Senate election to help spend $30 Million to lose a Republican seat that had been held for 20+ years and narrowed his majority so that Prima Donnas like Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and John McShame could effectively control the Senate. Yeah, he’s one slick guy.

He’s up for reelection in 2020 and if there is one Republicrat who needs a serious Primary Challenger it is Mitch McCommunist. Send him back to Kentucky to bake cookies for his wife and live off the $27 Million fortune he has because his father-in-law’s business depends on Communist China.

In 2020, #DitchMitch!!!
