Erick Erickson endorses Trump/Pence 2020

Erick Erickson endorses Trump/Pence 2020

“Three years ago this week, I declared myself #NeverTrump in 2016. Today, I’m endorsing President Trump and Vice President Pence for re-election in 2020 and am glad to help them on the trail as needed during Campaign 2020.”

The Resurgent’s Erick Erickson announced today that he decided to shed his #NeverTrump beliefs and endorsed President Donald Trump for 2020.

Why the change?

The drastic changes to the Democrats and a dishonest, but also the accomplishments in this administration:

We have a party that is increasingly hostile to religion and now applies religious tests to blocking judicial nominees. We have a party that believes children can be murdered at birth. We have a party that would set back the economic progress of this nation by generations through their environmental policies. We have a party that uses the issue of Russia opportunistically. We have a party that has weaponized race, gender, and other issues to divide us all while calling the President “divisive.” We have a party that is deeply, deeply hostile to large families, small businesses, strong work ethics, gun ownership, and traditional values. We have a party that is more and more openly anti-Semitic.

The Democrats have increasingly determined to let that hostility shape their public policy. They are adamant, with a religious fervor, that one must abandon one’s deeply held convictions and values as a form of penance to their secular gods.

On top of that, we have an American media that increasingly views itself not as a neutral observer, but as an anti-Trump operation. The daily litany of misreported and badly reported stories designed to paint this Administration in a negative light continues to amaze me. Juxtapose the contrast in national reporting on the President and race or Brett Kavanaugh and old allegations with the media dancing around the issues in Virginia. Or compare and contrast the media’s coverage of the New York and Virginia abortion laws with their coverage of this President continuing the policies of the Obama Administration at the border, including the Obama policy of separating children from adults. Or look now at how the media is scrambling to cover for and make excuses for the Democrats’ “Green New Deal,” going so far as to suggest that maybe, just maybe, the outline of policy initiatives was an error or forged.

Erickson also pointed out the good stuff that has happened in Trump’s administration like tax reform, rolling back regulations, withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, and his executive appointments.

Of course Trump’s demeanor still bothers him, but Erickson has come to accept that this is what Trump is and he will not change. He also noted that “the pretty smiles and calm demeanors the other side will probably work through the media to contrast with the President will not hide the fact they think children can be killed at birth, Christians should be removed from policy making positions, and the economy should be bankrupted to implement environmental policies that will not actually mitigate climate change.”

It will be interesting to see if any other #NeverTrump people will change course with the radical changes of the Democrats. I doubt many will. The majority remain blinded by their hate that they never give Trump props when he does something well or even try to understand why so many people voted for him.

I was never a Trump fan. I voted for Gary Johnson, but I was always #NeverHillary. I will end up voting libertarian again, but I live in Oklahoma so the state will be pure red no matter how I vote.

Comments

Erick who? Run along boy, ya’ bother me.

Well, I am always willing to welcome people back in the fold, even if they should have had the sense never to leave.

I was annoyed by his comment that while he has some disagreements with Trump, he “even” had some disagreements with George Bush. What, exactly, did Bush ever accomplish? The list is short. Far too often we on the right settle for voting in people who may say the right stuff, they may write the right stuff, but they don’t actually do the right stuff. In many cases, they don’t even try to do the right stuff.

Thank God we have a doer in the White House. I believe that Trump has accomplished more in two plus years than the sainted Ronald Reagan did in eight (and I am a huge Reagan fan).

Trump has done well, so far. I’m hoping to see his successor come from outside the beltway and having never held elected office prior to POTUS.

The Berlin Wall. Firing the ATC. Trump has some more to do and some time remaining to do. Put UP that wall on the southern border.

Prosecute the enablers who have aided and abetted the mass “immigration” of lawless renegades, Obamigrants.

“I’m hoping to see his successor come from outside the beltway and having never held elected office prior to POTUS.”

Everything about theResistance is meant to prevent this. It’s not about Trump, it’s about discouraging any outsider from attempting what he did. It’s a warning to any outsider who attempts to win a presidential election that he will hounded, excoriated, pilloried, torn apart, examined, cursed, and threatened. His family will be attacked, smeared, and ostracized. His supporters will be chased from public places and be harassed at their homes. This is not about Trump – this is a warning to any and all who would attempt to do what he has done – become an outsider, non-establishment president. Even if Trump weathers the storm, who else would want to be subject to the same treatment? The message is loud and clear – if you’re not in the establishment, stay away from our offices or we will ruin you, your family, and your associates.

Bush created a massive new bureaucracy in the DHS while mouthing financially conservative policy. That’s what he accomplished. And he did it all with republican support.

I hated it then and hate it even more now.

I supported the war in Iraq. We had that all wrapped up and Obama handed it off to the Iranians. I supported Operation Anaconda (the Tora Bora thing) but opposed a wider wider war in Afghanistan.

That reminds me of the other thing I disliked about Bush and his pal – the Rules of Engagement forced upon our troops. That bit really turned me against Bush and the phony republican party apparatchiks.

In 2016, I voted “against” her, not “for” him. But I will be voting for him in 2020

“He also noted that “the pretty smiles and calm demeanors the other side will probably work through the media to contrast with the President will not hide the fact they think children can be killed at birth, Christians should be removed from policy making positions, and the economy should be bankrupted to implement environmental policies that will not actually mitigate climate change.”

Bingo. Thank you!, Erick.

Dan Bongino calls this ‘danger zone morality.’ IE: When your sworn enemy is out to destroy you, and the guy next to you has your back, you don’t really care if the guy next to you smells his farts, cheats on his wife, hates dogs, has bad breath, and a foul mouth – as long as he has your back!

For the Left, their mask hasn’t merely slipped, they’re in full on resident evil mode, and show no signs of letting up.

As for me and my house, No More Mr. Nice Guy, alice cooper.

Why does everyone focus on what Donald Trump says and not what was said about him first? Bullies don’t like people they cannot bully and that is what drives #NeverTrump.

“Welcome to the party, pal!”

In an orderly universe, this should be widespread.

A perfectly legitimate fear about Candidate Trump was that he’d be like the typical run-of-the-mill professional politician—say whatever it takes to get the votes, then go all squishy once safely in office. This fear could have justifiably discouraged some otherwise sensible people from voting R in 2016.

However, as we’ve seen since, such fears were unfounded. The pre- and post-election DJT are pretty much the same guy; what’s more, a guy who fully intends to do what he says, and fights his opponents to get it done. So that justification for Trumpophobia is obsolete.

The remaining grouses are merely tactical. Oh, those tweets are goofy. He still has weird hair. He doesn’t lard up his speeches with the customary mellifluous drivel. These are trivial excuses for opposition. Convincing, no doubt, to trivial people.

All of that stuff he said about “We have a party….” was all true before Trump ever came down the escalator.

#NeverTrump was effective. Perhaps where #NeverTrump failed, #NeverNeverTrump will realize the desired outcome.

Too late and irrelevant. As Trump supporters from the beginning, we neither needed Erikson’s help getting to this point and don’t require it going forward. Enjoy the back seat, you’ve earned it.

Trump will win in 20/20 because he has EARNED it in the first term. No one who voted for him is going to switch or stay home. Those who didn’t will have been won in spite of all forces otherwise.

Rather than losing support, it seems he is gaining support and will crush any democrat that they select with their rigged primaries.

My trajectory tracks pretty well with Erick’s – I’ve no doubt now that Trump is/will be much better than others I “held my nose” and voted for, like Romney and McCain.

Don’t know who Erik Erikson is and don’t care. But if you are #NeverTrump, you fall into one of two ignominious camps:
1. You’re a self-righteous dimwit who wouldn’t be happy even if Jesus were President.
2. You’re a deep-stater/politi-hack who is afraid your comfy little life as a fake conservative, real-life demagogue is about to come to end.

Better put Rags on suicide watch. Erickson is his idol.

Mark Levin says Trump is the most effective conservative in 50 years.

    You remember Levin?

Barry in reply to Barry. | February 11, 2019 at 10:58 pm

To be at all honest, you would have to admit you often pushed Levin as a conservative standard.

And Mark Levin, the Great One, states President Trump is the most effective conservative in fifty (50) years. That’s 5 decades. That goes back to 1966. That includes Reagan.

      That’s honesty. Try it.

Hey Mary – check the 2018 House results – Horn (D) beat Russell (R) 51 to 49% in the 5th District. Of course, Russell didn’t do much in campaigning while Horn did a lot more outreach.

Don’t forget to vote tomorrow.

I seriously wonder if Trump’s crassness and rough edges are what troubles so many anti-Trump supposed “conservatives”. If so, they should have zero tolerance for tens of historical U.S. presidents with perhaps worse demeanor. I mean, Grant e.g.!?!?!

For many like Bill Kristol and especially George Will I think it has always been about power in DC. And with Will it may be more about socializing in DC – meaning being left out of certain events. His behavior on Twitter is just a screen. An excuse.

I was a wait and see… and I saw.

I see a president approaching Reagan in accomplishments.

Mitt Romney was nice. Nice and squishy. He lost.

Not this one. He’s not squishy. This one, he fights.

Now kindly turn the dial on the Trump amp to 11.

Eric Ericson is a big name here in GA and he has a local radio show. He is a true conservative but was turned off by the Megan Kelly issue during the primaries. I was at Red State which is a big conservative gathering held in many cities. Ericson was running the one here in Atlanta and had invited all of the contestants to come and speak. Trump was coming but Erickson canceled him at the last minute because of the Kelly mess. We were all outraged and he lost a lot of supporters here. He is a real Christian and home schools his kids. Except for his initial problem with Trump he is a pretty good guy. I am personally happy that he is back on board. Any help we can get for 2020 is a plus!

    InspectorRudy,
Eric Ericson is an establishment Republican. essentially, he’s there to make a living.
When Trump came along and ran for President, all the establishment Republicans went crazy with anger.
How DARE he make promises that would go against the politically correct and absolutely corrupt views of the washington insiders??

If I were the president, I would accept his help but don’t trust him as far as you can see him.
He’s proved what kind of person he wants to see in the Oval Office on more than one occasion.

“was turned off by the Megan Kelly issue”

In other words, he’s dumber than a brick and fell for the con.

More likely, he thought the $$$ were on the nevertrump shtick.

Who was more likely to advance any Christian principles? Trump or avowed communist Hillary? Against Trump in the primary, fine. Once he lost his primary choice, everything he did was to advance Hillary.

    He’s just another fake.

So for the last 3 years, President Trump and us have been fighting the swamp tooth and nail..so now the swamp wants to endorse Trump??

your vote matters, Erik Erickson. Thanks for your vote.

that’s about it.

Why? Because #NeverTrump isn’t selling…

Subotai Bahadur | February 11, 2019 at 5:34 pm

Since Erickson worked for Hillary in a past election battle, we are supposed to trust Erickson based on one statement? Show us something more than words. If he stands and fights against the enemy for a while at personal cost to himself, then we may decide that he doesn’t necessarily have to have someone watching for him to switch sides at the worst possible moment. But it is going to take a lot of proof.

Subotai Bahadur

When a conservative or libertarian votes for a candidate that can’t win it’s the same as voting democrat. It’s either Trump or a radical leftist. That’s the choice.

“I will end up voting libertarian again…”

Brilliant. Just turn the keys over to the commies without a fight.

Gobsmacked!

Voting Libertarian? You really are silly.

Eastwood Ravine | February 11, 2019 at 9:44 pm

It’s pretty difficult to not to support the most pro-growth President the country has seen in at least a generation. Not to mention the most pro-life. And if Trump gets another shot or two at putting conservatives on the bench, he’ll cement the firmness in the statement, “from my cold, dead hands…”

Erik is back!

Until he isn’t.

You’re on five-year probation, Erikson.

Welcome to the party. Better late than never.

So has Neo-Neocon ever admitted that she was wrong about Trump?

Voting Libertarian? Might as well just write in your own name on the ballot.
