In the latest example of how progressives ruin everything, a new poll finds support for making Santa Claus female or gender neutral. I’m so glad I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s.

Matt Vespa writes at Townhall:

Are You People On Crack? Almost 30 Percent Think Santa Claus Should Be Female Or Gender Neutral

Okay, maybe the Right took the war on Christmas a bit far over the past ten years. The beef over wishing people Happy Holidays over Merry Christmas to be more inclusive was a political correctness exercise that was total garbage. It is Christmas season.

Yet, as the Left has moved into crazy town, the political correctness exercises have become more intrusive and more ridiculous. The latest front in the war on Christmas centers right on jolly ole’ Saint Nick. Almost 30 percent of people think he should be either female or gender neutral.

Vespa points to this report from CBS 2 in Pittsburgh:

27 Percent Of People Think Santa Should Be Female Or Gender Neutral, Survey Finds

For a long time, Santa Claus has been portrayed as an older man with a hefty build and big white beard but a new poll finds that some feel that Santa should be rebranded as a woman or gender neutral.

After years of this image, Graphic Springs, a logo design company, surveyed hundreds to rebrand Santa and give him a more modern image.

The survey polled approximately 400 people from the United States and United Kingdom. Then, 4,000 people voted on the most popular version of the Santa they designed from the survey.

“Modern Santa” has tattoos, a stylishly-trimmed beard, skinny jeans, sneakers, and a hoverboard. He’s tech-savvy and looks like he could easily feature in GQ magazine.

A new survey found that over 27 percent of people asked would rebrand Santa Claus as a woman or gender-neutral…

Nearly 11 percent of people said Santa should be female. Over 17 percent said he should be gender neutral.

Bill O’Reilly has been in the trenches of the ‘War on Christmas’ for years, let’s see what he has to say about this:

Is nothing sacred?

That demand strikes me as based on old fashioned cis-normative patriarchal assumptions. How do they know Santa wasn’t born female and has ‘transitioned’? Are they demanding that we deadname Santa by referring to him by his former female name? Why is Santa not entitled to the same dignity as Georges Sand, Andre Norton and George Elliott?

Probably the same percentage of Americans who use Prozac, Zyprexa, diazepam or alprazalalazam on a regular basis.

@Botterlyclingong “… and psychiatrists collect the rent.”

Everything must be torn down to suit the misery of ‘progressives’.

No more chestnuts, Santa’s nuts are sacrificed unto the open fire. ???? TransSanta! TransAmerica!

Nearly 11 percent of people said Santa should be female. Over 17 percent said he should be gender neutral.

So, less than 3 in 10 people in the poll think Santa shouldn’t be a male. Which also means that 7 out of 10 people apparently think Santa is fine the way ‘he’ is. Sounds like a clear result to me. I would have made the headline: A large majority of people think Santa doesn’t need a makeover.

less than 3 in 10 people in the poll think

‘in the poll’ being another key word. Given what we’ve seen, the choice of people to poll gives a very big skew to the values. If you conducted this poll among the people found wandering the liberal arts department of indoctrination centers, you’ll get a very different response from ordinary americans. I suspect the overwhelming majority response (beyond even the landslide of 73%) is “What? No, stop ruining things.”

I say that the Tooth Fairy and Tinker Bell were actually men, and the stories should be rewritten to reflect that.

I would be perfectly fine with getting rid of Santa Claus if this is where we are going with it. Santa has become nothing more than marketing icon. Time to put the Christ back into Christmas.

The only reason it became popular in the US in the first place is because it was so secular. Protestants, other than Episcopalians and Lutherans, were very opposed to Christmas as a religious holiday, and until the mid-19th century opposed any public manifestation of it; they became reconciled to it only because it was positioned as a secular holiday of generic good will, with the religious aspects toned down and kept in those churches that did celebrate it.

I think maybe that people were just a little confused by the saying “Ho Ho Ho!” Sounds like feminists at a slut walk.

on the other hand, even with ll the $ and media focus, less than one third let their minds be corrupted by the filthy globalist cult, so there is hope.
Anyway, Jesus Christ continue to be the reason for the season.

“surveyed hundreds to rebrand Santa”

I think we have the root of the problem right here. Recognized by all. Loved by millions. Universally associated with selflessness, love and the spirit of giving.

No sane person would even think of “rebranding” that! And it seems the majority of people don’t see the need.

Therefore, it will be done. Expect to start seeing movies about Santa’s gender issues and his never ending war against the patriarchy and those evil white people.

Sanity has been in vogue long enough, it’s time that insanity has a chance to prove its worth.

The history of Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is fascinating and largely unknown to the members of Western society. I will not go into that history, as it is long, but suffice it to say that the modern celebration of Christmas has little of nothing to do with the celebration of the birth of Christ.

Based upon biblical accounts, it is extremely unlikely that Jesus was born in the winter. The Christmas celebration was scheduled to coincide with a popular pagan ritual during the time of the Roman empire in order to make Christianity more popular with the armies of Rome. It was carried over into the converting pagan cultures of Europe, almost all of whom celebrated some holiday in midwinter to honor the rebirth of the world. Santa Clause is actually an amalgam of pagan folk characters who give gifts to the people on or near the beginning of the new year. The church co-opted these folk figures and suggested that they were really the incarnation of one St. Nicholas and rolled the secular celebrations of midwinter into the religious celebration of Christmas. Over time, secularism has elevated the Santa Clause persona over the Christ persona as the reason for celebrating Christmas. Of course the evelution of the celebration of Christmas is much more detailed and absolutely fascinating.

Personally, I prefer the traditional Russian celebration, which entails religious observance of the celebration of the birth of Christ on December 25th and the secular, gift giving celebration of the renewal of the world on January 1st. Separating the two celebrations just seems right.

Jesus was born in the spring. Christmas became celebrated in January 25 as part of the Roman Saturnian bachanalia. It was Roman Christianity’s practice to usurp traditional celebrations and replace the object of devotion. Same thing with Easter. Maybe we should celebrate Christmas in April and Easter in the month Jesus was resurrected.

Wasn’t it a census that brought Joseph & Mary to Bethlehem? Maybe it was recorded in a local Domesday book.

How would one “make” Santa “female or gender-neutral”? Have antifa brownshirts attack department-store Santas who don’t conform to a new standard? Fine publishers who depict the jolly old elf the same jolly old way? Round up all the Coca-Cola cans printed with those old Haddon Sundblom paintings of the traditional male Santa fiddling around with fireplaces, presents, and Coke, load them into cattle cars, and ship them off to the recyclers? Exhume the body of Thomas Nast and give it an Inquisition-style trial? This could get weird.

They can be rebranded as Insanity Clause, hehehe

One third of the population is nuts. Coincidence?

No one has ever seen Santa Claus naked, therefore no one knows what sex he is. He is not a real person, so he has no real sex. In that sense he is like a Ken and Barbie doll, when you pull down their clothes, there is nothing there. So you can imagine that Santa is a he or she or whatever and it doesn’t matter. But the issue seems to be changing his appearance (how he looks) into something different. If that’s the case, then stop right there. If you don’t like how Santa Claus looks, then go make your own holiday and leave Santa Claus alone.

I just visited Santa at the Bass Pro Shops, and he’s a dude. Leave Santa, and Mrs. Claus, alone.

Oh.
So at least 27% of people are imbeciles.
And that’s a discovery?
Oh, well.

But wait a minute.
They surveyed 400 people …
From the United States and United Kingdom …
And they concluded that 27% of people …

Get out of here!
Sounds like somebody is owed a refund, for Statistics tuition, or consulting fees or whatever.
