Jimmy Carter on Kavanaugh: “temperamentally unfit to serve on the Supreme Court”

“He was temperamentally unfit to serve on the Supreme Court because of his outburst during the hearing”

Wednesday, President Carter visited Emory University in Atlanta where he criticized Justice Kavanaugh, calling him “unfit” to serve on the Supreme Court.

From The Hill:

Former President Jimmy Carter harshly criticized newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, calling him “unfit” to serve on the court.

Speaking to a class at Emory University in Atlanta on Wednesday, Carter said that Kavanaugh’s behavior during his confirmation hearings demonstrated that his appointment was “a very serious mistake,” according to Emory’s independent, student-run newspaper, The Emory Wheel.

“Whether or not [Kavanaugh] attempted to rape [Christine Blasey Ford], I thought he was temperamentally unfit to serve on the Supreme Court because of his outburst during the hearing,” Carter said, according to video taken by a student during his remarks. “I saw him lose his cool.”

FINALLY! The moment we’ve all been waiting for — President Jimmy Carter weighs in on Justice Kavanaugh.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been withholding judgment and opinion on the matter until I heard what Carter had to say.

Jimmy’s. You’re about two weeks late to the party.

This entire “unjudicial temperament” argument was a setup from the start. Suppose Kavanaugh had come out and responded calmly, showing no emotion – then all of the attacks would be “Look! He doesn’t even care? How could he not be upset, he must know he’s guilty and it’s just a big act – this PROVES he’s unfit for the court!!!”

It was a situation in which there was literally no possible way for him to answer without his enemies proclaiming his answer, whatever it was, as “PROOF” that he was unfit. It was a setup all the way.

Me, I think he did a great job of choosing the most honest possible way to respond to the impossible situation that his persecutors put him in.

Would somebody with a voice make the argument that Feinstein, Booker, and Harris are temperamentally unfit to serve on the judicial committee?

You left out Vietnam hero Blumenthal, Sheldon (The Viper) Whitehouse and Crazie Mazie Hirono. I will give Chis Coons a pass because he was a normal, regular Democrat rather than one of those hanging off the left fringe.

Remember when Ruth Vader Ginsburg said Trump was unfit for office? Isn’t that blatantly partisan? Should she be removed from the court for lack of judicial temperament? Should she at least recuse herself from any case involving the President?

I must have missed all the calls for her resignation.

I was unaware that anyone, anywhere still cares what Jimmy thinks.

He’s just as SANCTIMONIOUS as he’s always been, and, frankly, HE was tempermentally UNSUITED to the office of the Presidency, which is WHY he was CANNED after only one term!

Oh what a load of bullshit. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given who it’s coming from.

Those lying scumbag Democrats should feel fortunate somebody didn’t come over the table and bash their lying faces in.

I think the way to fix our politics is to bring back the duel.

rustyshamrock | October 18, 2018 at 5:21 pm

He’s just on an adrenaline rush because he’s no longer considered the “worst president evah”!

Judge Kavanaugh spent 12 years as a sitting judge on the DC court of appeals, and has over 300 published opinions of his decisions in a multitude of cases. You would think that might be a better way of judging his temperament as a judge.

userpen in reply to Richard. | October 18, 2018 at 8:42 pm

Carter wasn’t really judging Kavanaugh’s temperament. His mind, like that of other democrats, was already made up before the hearings ever took place. All he is doing is seeking to justify the democrat talking points and keep the pot stirred up.

This coming from a guy who was mentally unfit to be POTUS.

So… showing outrage at being called a sexual predator by democrats using fake allegations in an attempt to not only keep him off the bench, but to also destroy his life for daring to be a republican shows he’s unfit for the court? Jimmy should be ashamed of himself and his fellow party members for this stunt and he should be begging Kavanaugh for forgiveness, not criticizing him.

DieJustAsHappy | October 18, 2018 at 5:50 pm

What Jimmy Carter has to say became “no matter” for me on January 20, 1981.

This is embarrassing. As an ex-POTUS, he should show a little class and resist the urge to be a perpetual horse’s ass, especially in public. For the good of the country, he should just sit down and shut up. Spend his retirement thinking up useful things to do with peanuts, or something.

Maybe he’s still sore that when he was president, he didn’t get to appoint>any Supreme Court justices?

Maybe he’s still sore about losing to Reagan (who appointed three).

Then again, maybe he’s just sore that it’s been a very long time since anyone cared what he thought about anything. The curtain inexorably begins to close, the lights dim, the Grim Reaper enters slowly from stage left, and … I DIDN’T GET TO APPOINT ANY SUPREME COURT JUSTICES!!

TANG!

I always called him ‘Jimah Carter, The Incompetent’ a la the Free Republic. Jimah is showing that he is just as incompetent as ever, maybe even MORE incompetent.

WOW! The second worst President in my lifetime has made a semi coherent comment about something he has no expertise in.

This idiot peanut farmer’s condemnation of anyone or anything is the equivalent of a glowing positive endorsement so far as I am concerned.

So, would a man who attempted use a paddle to beat a rabbit, which was attempting to climb into his boat after entering the water to escape a pack of dogs, be temperamentally unfit to be President of the United States?

Jimmy Carter was unfit to be POTUS because he lost his cool and attacked a rabbit that was getting too close.

And it wasn’t even a killer rabbit!

Not very presidential.

There was a picture of the rabbit.
What about Jimmy “THe cat killer” Carter?
Carter used a shotgun on a neighbors cat who was stalking birds around the Carter bird feeders.
    Jimmy Carter cat slayer

By the way, Jimbo, feeding birds is very selfish of the humans, who like to look at birds, and very bad for the environment and the birds. Almost like eco-terrorism, feeding the birds is.

Nice little logical trap you’ve got there, Jimmy.
-If Kavanaugh is upset at being called a serial rapist, he’s obviously unfit for being a judge.
-If Kavanaugh doesn’t get upset at being called a serial rapist, he’s an emotionless robot who can’t possibly empathize with any defendant.

A little thing my parents used to call “Da**’ed if you do, and Da**’d if you don’t.”

Jimmy you look like a scumbag pretending he did this “outburst” in the middle of ordinary polite preceeedings and not in the middle of the worst poltical hit job probably in the History of the SC nominations.

DaveGinOly in reply to Conan. | October 19, 2018 at 8:25 pm

Yes, it wasn’t just the allegations, it was the entire freak show put on by the Dems. Truly disgusting and outrageous, and disgust and outrage is exactly what Kavanaugh gave them in response. Perfectly understandable by anyone with any sense of decency.

Jimmy Carter was temperamentally unfit to be President. I lived through his gigantic failures. I remember the 20% interest rates. How much of a moron can someone be to destroy the economy of the U.S. When someone who is right up there with the worst most incompetent failures of all time gives advice, I would suggest going the other way with whatever he recommends.

Olinser in reply to Jackie. | October 19, 2018 at 5:11 am

He was so pathetically bad as President he got challenged in a primary by prominent his own party after 4 years.

That was almost UNHEARD of for a President to be challenged by prominent people from his own party. Ford had been primary challenged by Reagan, but he was never elected either President or Vice President in the first place, so it would have been more of a shock if he HADN’T gotten challenged.

Lyndon Johnson was, but he was also a special case, taking over after Kennedy was killed, and NOBODY wanted to challenge him at first. 4 years later though he was going to lose so badly that he withdrew in the middle of the primaries.

Most previous primary challenges had been from not particularly popular fringe candidates who lost decisively in New Hampshire.

So Carter was the first President actually elected himself and not through death of the previous President, to be meaningfully challenged in his own party’s primaries since I think the 1920’s.

Hilarious! A peanut farmer who was unfit in multiple ways for any leadership position, proclaims that Kavanaugh is unfit. One would say he’s senile, but jimah has always been a jerk and temperamentally useless. As he tries to roar for the attention it gets him, his tantrum comes out more as a bad joke and a whimper.

Your opinion is as worthless as an IOU written on a block of ice!

Carter was permanently unfit to be anything more than a Postmaster.

Yea, well Peanut Boy, we determined you were unfit to be president decades ago.

The Peanut Farmer calling *anyone* unfit for office is hysterical…

he has no room left to judge anyone, based on his record of fail

Jimmy Carter had Zbigniew Brzezinski for an advisor, and worse, followed his advice. Now he’s been listening to some other fool, and repeating what he never knew.

I watched the hearing, and I know better. Further, I don’t think Jimmy Carter has any right to cast the first stone. Kavanaugh’s family got death threats and that he himself was called a drug-pushing gang rapist, based on no evidence whatsoever. For Carter to take the provocation into account is unjust. Despite the misrepresentations by the lying Democratic Senators, Kavanaugh expressed righteous anger in a controlled and articulate manner. He did not lose his temper, and the lying Democratic Senators should be ashamed of themselves.

Jimma..watch out here comes a Vorpal Bunny…Just kidding you can get back into your canoe.

I imagine that any man subject to a warlock trial, any women subject to a witch trial, or any baby that is not disarmed and denied a voice, would react in the same way.

To be fair, Carter never had the temperament to be president. Perhaps he possesses an occult knowledge, where the evidence is otherwise silent.

I’d like to ask Jimmy, a Christian, a question.

Is Jesus temperamentally unfit to be Savior, because he took a make-shift whip to the sellers and money-changers in the court of the temple? Or because he called the religious leaders sons of hell and a viper’s brood? I’m pretty certain after being beaten, flogged and nailed to a cross He wasn’t all smiles, either.

You have a very very strange outlook on “temperament” Jimmy boy.

Oh, and if you need a reminder, the people found you unfit to be President in 1980. 489-49. Twirl on that Mr. Peanut.

As I recall, sir, you were barely fit enough to defend yourself against a “killer rabbit”. So there’s that.

Oh, for goodness sake Smiley, go look for some UFOs or something!

Someone Who Remembers | October 18, 2018 at 11:41 pm

This is coming from a guy who was a Peanut Farmer! The old Playboy article “The Making Of A President” says it all.

The second dumbest president in US history.

And the distance of carter to the dumbest is as great as the distance from carter to the third worst president.

Carter was a wart. Obumbo was a disease

Carter, since he ceased disgracing the Oval Office, has spent much of his life functioning as, essentially, the spokesman for HAMAS.

That makes him unfit to be considered a human being. Much less someone who’s opinion anyone would care about on any issue whatsoever.

Cool Jimmy and cool Barack both lacked the fortitude to defend the US and we and the rest of the world suffered for it. I submit neither Barack nor Jimmy had the temperament for the presidency. We should be thankful they are gone and replaced by a real men.

From a moron who was “temperamentally unfit” to serve as POTUS. Classic.

This is the guy who went to the ayatollahs into power in Iran. That set off an Islamic fundamentalist reaction throughout the Middle East, and eventually lead to 9/11. Yeah thanks Jimmy

‘went to the’ Was auto corrected from “winked the”

Hey Jimmy, if I said I heard you molested a girl in high school but didn’t provide any evidence and all the people I said were witnesses denied the event happened, would you be “temperamentally unfit”. And of course, if you didn’t react, we could say it was an admission of guilt.

I still remember 21% interest under this JACKOFF! I was trying to buy a house then. couldnt. jimmah~~~~~STFU and grow peanuts. AND GO AWAY JACKASS!

He obviously never practiced in court. I’ve have federal judges who have outbursts 10x worse than Kavanaugh, and they are hailed by liberal members of the bar as smart, fair, intelligent, and other inaccurate terms. There is one judge who routinely berates lawyers in his courtroom, and he has an obvious pro-plaintiff bias.

And the democrat party’s temperament makes them unfit to govern.

Now everyone can see why this phucking moron served only one term. Actually, that was one term too many for America. He can thank Oshitbag for edging him out of first place for the worst POS ever to sit in the Oval Office.

He’s been reading Dylan Thomas and watched John McCain being eulogized.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

lord–jimmy couldn’t win a battle of wits with a mollusk–and he lectures on the ” judicial temperament ” of a man like kavanaugh–too funny

he did do one thing right during his presidency–he authorized the tehran rescue mission in an attempt to retrieve our countrymen–a daring plan indeed–had a couple of friends that went on that little ride–unfortunately, equipment failures(three choppers, i believe)and an aircraft incident doomed the mission’s chances–nevertheless, they did saddle-up and go–couple of days later, he stepped out in front of the cameras and took full responsibility for the mission/mission failure

my father always called carter ” the scarecrow “–heart as big as a barn and head with more vacuum than outer space

Knock knock, who’s there? Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter Who?
Exactly!
№2 worst pres in in the US, sorry Jimmy, BO has you beat for 1st place.
