Zina Bash is doing okay, and she’s trolling the #StopKavanaugh haters

Zina Bash is doing okay, and she’s trolling the #StopKavanaugh haters

#TheResistance still bringing the crazy, claiming Bash was standing behind Trump at his Montana rally last night while she was in DC at the Kavanaugh hearings.

The internet mob attack on Zina Bash was the lowest point in days filled with low points of disruptions and protests against Brett Kavanaugh.

Bash, a former law clerk to Brett Kavanaugh whose husband is a U.S. Attorney appointed by Trump, was singled out because she supposedly flashed a white supremacist hand signal while seated behind Kavanaugh during the hearings. We covered the insanity, Malicious attack on Zina Bash shows how deranged #StopKavanaugh has become

It’s getting hard to describe how insane #TheResistance to Brett Kavanaugh has become.

The first day of hearings, which involved no testimony by Kavanaugh, devolved into a circus.

We’ve already covered today the antics of Democrat Senators trying to abort the hearings by repeatedly interrupting, the disruptions by Linda Sarsour and crew, and the stage and phony claim that Kavanaugh refused to shake the hand of the father of a Parkland school shooting victim.

All those things were stupid political theater….

Bash was sitting behind Kavanaugh as #TheResistance disrupted the hearings. She was in camera view.

Anti-Trump social media users with large followings singled her out for supposedly snide facial expressions and flashing a white power sign.

See her hand resting with her thumb and forefinger together in a manner similar to an “okay” sign? That’s the supposed hand signal.

https://twitter.com/rubin_kd/status/1037033721235263488

The whole thing was absurd. The “okay” sign is not a white power signal. Bash has no association with white supremacists. And it was particularly absurd because Bash is Mexican on her mother’s side, and Polish Jewish on her father’s side. Her paternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors.

Yet the accusation streamed through social media. There was a huge backlash against the malicious absurdity, and some of the people who spread the false accusation deleted their tweets.

In an act of defiance to show she was not intimidated, Bash resumed her position in the first row behind Kavanaugh, again visible to the live stream TV cameras.

And then, late last night as Kavanaugh’s testimony was winding down, Bash trolled the haters by flashing that she was okay, with her hand raised.

She has internet fame again, but this time people are loving it.

But don’t think #TheResistance has stopped bringing the crazy.

At the same time Bash was sitting in the Kavanaugh hearings in DC last night, anti-Kavanaugh Twitter users claimed to see her standing behind Trump at his rally in Montana.

would be even more fun if she could sign

In a related topic. I understand that today the hearings are holding testimony from the “legal character” witnesses. Is it being streamed live?

She should have held it up to her eye. Indicating she is one of the “Village” people.

Be seeing you.

Ms. Bash is multi talented and evidently a ‘shape shifter’ too.

I guess it’s unrealistic to expect at least one person involved in this farce to act like an adult. Each side is so wrapped up in adolescent “trolling”, that they’re forgetting there’s a country to govern. Russia and China will have the biggest laugh over this juvenile behavior.

UnCivilServant in reply to moonmoth. | September 7, 2018 at 10:22 am

As far as I can tell, Kavenaugh has been perfectly adult throughout. And he’s the one whose confirmation is being consitered.

I have no idea who Zina Bash is, nor why she’s even seated behind him in the hearings. Unless she’s up for or holding some sort of federal post, this is one private citizen snarking back at others.

As for the senators, yes, I wish they would grow up too.

She is a former law clerk of Kavanaugh and is currently working on his confirmation team. Hence, the position of prominence.

      For better, or worse.

“As for the senators, yes, I wish they would grow up too…”

It has nothing to with ‘growing up:’ this is a desperate grab for power and money, at the expense of our liberty.

Booker should only meet Spartacus’s fate.

    tom_swift in reply to moonmoth. | September 7, 2018 at 10:51 am

Yes, as an accomplishment, “trolling” is vastly overrated. The President’s so-called “trolls” of the press are generally assumed, by people with little imagination, to be flippant high-school-level taunts, although they’re actually tactical maneuvers to manipulate a hostile and mulishly stupid press (and very successful maneuvers, too). But Ms Bash seems to have no tactical purpose in mind here, except to show that she’s paying more attention to the infantile portion of the public than it merits. And it’s not obvious that that’s a “win” for the adults.

Of course if she finds it entertaining, I have no objection, but I’m not going to hail it as some sort of brilliant riposte.

“I guess it’s unrealistic to expect at least one person involved in this farce to act like an adult.”

It’s not unrealistic, it’s cowardice cloaked in false moral equivalence. You’re the teacher who ignores the kid getting bullied for months and months, until the kid finally punches the bully back, then allofasudden you strike the Righteous Pose with “BOTH of you need to behave”.

This is why conservatives lost before Trump.

We have ONE moment of push back in a sea of immature incivility by their side, and we get lectured about it?

I can’t write what I really think of your remark, it would get me banned.

    Go play with Bill Kristol.

    One fricken moment, geez.

Are not these loonies the intellectual brothers and sisters of the bulk of the college professors — that “superior” educated class — who want to rule over the rest of us (the deplorables)?

On the plus side, I now understand why the leaders of the French Revolution executed so many of their supporters after victory was secured. The “Deep State” would understandably do the same as soon as they secure their victory.

Suddenly, I find myself having a Phineas and Ferb moment …

It’s a Mexican Jewish Cultural Festival!

One has truly peaked when they a) have the best seat at the show and b) as a result have become a major part of the show. All we need now is for her to hold up a John 3:16 sign. THAT would cause the Left to explode fer sure.

Speaking of delusional
Check out paul krugman’s rant in the NYT along with the comments- especially the comments rated as best comments by the NYTs

Krugman consistently misrepresents fact – This column is devoid of any factually accurate statements

So isn’t this cultural appropriation.

She culturally appropriated the sign from the white supremists who culturally appropriated it from every person in the history of the world to indicate “OK”. Myself as a third grader needs a safe space and a blanket for the damage done to my identity.

Has anyone culturally appropriated the thumbs up sign yet? Is that what the alt right is using for dog whistle racism when they don’t want the MSNBC hosts to know what they are up to?

Attagirl!!! Personally, I thought she’s a practitioner of yoga. I’ve used that finger positioning when thoroughly bored, but needing to sit quietly- helps one focus and breathe, but not fall asleep.

Come to think of it, some schools of meditation use that posture. They make that symbol with both hands while placing their hands palms up near the knee.

Agreed, we must be extremely careful not to purposely or accidentally misunderstand someone’s actions.

For instance, we shouldn’t claim that football players who take a knee during the national anthem are being unpatriotic when they are actually protesting injustice. Where better to do it than on a national stage? Their chief accuser has unlimited access to the national stage and frequently abuses that privilege.

Similarly, we shouldn’t go around misunderstanding ‘Black Lives Matter’ as a movement that doesn’t think other lives matter. When I say that my life matters, it doesn’t imply that yours doesn’t.

It is hard to believe in the good faith of people who continue to misunderstand either of the above; given the enormous amount of effort that has gone in to explaining these matters. I guess it is possible that the detractors are just ignorant or obtuse. That is what we are learning about the whiner in chief.

I am not sure what is disrespectful about quietly taking a knee – an act that is a recognized part of the game. I do know how disrespectful it is when a black athlete is pulled over in his expensive car simply because he is a black in an expensive car. I do know how disrespectful it is when a prominent black athlete, James Blake, is knocked to the ground and hand-cuffed after being misidentified for a non-violent crime. Blake was standing still; not fleeing the scene.

The cop wasn’t knocked to the ground and hand-cuffed when he was put on desk duty at full pay. He had a union rep and a lawyer to defend him. The fact that he is a defendant in 2 other cases of excessive force didn’t get him suspended. Why? Well, Blue Lives Matter.

For instance, we shouldn’t claim that football players who take a knee during the national anthem are being unpatriotic when they are actually protesting injustice.

They are being unpatriotic. They are making a statement that they are not loyal to the United States. That is the definition of unpatriotism. Further, Kaepernick’s statements explaining why he initiated this campaign are explicitly unpatriotic. Since they’re all consciously imitating him, they are joining and supporting his cause.

Technicalities in reply to Milhouse. | September 7, 2018 at 6:26 pm

No, they are making the statement that the government of the United States is unfair to them. That makes them aggrieved; not unpatriotic.

The people who are being unpatriotic are those that refuse to treat minorities equally; as the law requires. Trump is one of them, no matter how big his flag lapel pin is. As President it is him job to enforce the laws against discrimination – not to turn a legitimate protest into a political football (pun intended).

Neither the flag nor the anthem stand for the government. They both stand for the republic.

I am decidedly not a fan of the adulation with which most Americans treat the flag and anthem. It seems to me that they confuse the map with the territory, the symbol with the thing symbolized, which is the definition of idolatry. I’m with those who are willing to pledge allegiance to the republic for which the flag stands, but not to the flag itself.

But these athletes are doing the exact same thing. It’s precisely because they identify the anthem with the republic that they show such contempt for it. It’s the republic that they hold in contempt, not a tune, a piece of cloth, or some specific government policy.

And it’s simply not true that Trump is one of those that refuse to treat minorities equally. Your accusation lacks all foundation.

Similarly, we shouldn’t go around misunderstanding ‘Black Lives Matter’ as a movement that doesn’t think other lives matter. When I say that my life matters, it doesn’t imply that yours doesn’t.

No, it implies that the default position is that black lives don’t matter, which must be opposed. In other words the very existence of this movement is predicated on the blood libel that the US government and police don’t believe black lives matter, and go around killing black people for no reason. Further, if it were honest it would welcome people saying that all lives matter; by rejecting and protesting against that statement it is asserting that only black lives matter, and specifically that blue ones do not.

Technicalities in reply to Milhouse. | September 7, 2018 at 6:41 pm

It most certainly implies that black lives don’t matter nearly as much as white lives do. If you can’t see that, you are among the stupidest people on the planet.

That Supreme Court we are all arguing about once ruled that ‘separate but equal’ was the law of the land. Except there never was a time in the history of this country when we ever had separate but equal. Most blacks in this country are still subject to defacto segregation.

Black men have fought in ever war this country ever fought, but neither they nor their descendants have been treated equally.

You really are blind as a bat.

No amount of sophistry will compensate for your ignorance. It is a willful ignorance that is unacceptable among honest men.

What you are claiming is simply not true. If it were true that police value black lives less than white ones, the streets would be littered with black bodies, but they are not. If it were true then we would expect to see black criminals killed by police significantly more often than are similarly situated white criminals. Instead we find the opposite, that in potentially deadly confrontations white assailants are more likely than black ones to be killed.

I am not sure what is disrespectful about quietly taking a knee – an act that is a recognized part of the game.

The game is not in progress. In any case, it’s not the act of kneeling that’s disrespectful, it’s the message intentionally conveyed, which is a refusal to respect the country by standing for its anthem. Given that context it’s exactly the same as spitting, or turning ones back.

I do know how disrespectful it is when a black athlete is pulled over in his expensive car simply because he is a black in an expensive car.

How are the police to know he’s an athlete? Anything unusual is suspicious, and the police are supposed to act on suspicious circumstances. For every time a driver stopped in such circumstances turns out to be the owner, how many times does he turn out to have stolen it? The same athlete who is upset when he’s stopped in his own car is very grateful when the person who stole his car is stopped, for the exact same reason he was stopped himself.

I do know how disrespectful it is when a prominent black athlete, James Blake, is knocked to the ground and hand-cuffed after being misidentified for a non-violent crime. Blake was standing still; not fleeing the scene.

He was arrested because he bore a close resemblance to a suspect in a serious crime, who was known to be staying at that same hotel. He would have been treated exactly the same had he and the suspect both been white. White people who resemble known suspects are treated exactly like that every day, and nobody protests.

Technicalities in reply to Milhouse. | September 7, 2018 at 6:57 pm

How are the police to know he’s an athlete?

You are obtuse. It is not the fact that he is an athlete that is germane. It is that on his way home from the game, he is much more likely to be stopped; and much more likely to be subjected to harsh treatment simply because he is black. The cop can’t tell he is an athlete, but he sure can tell he is black. No, it doesn’t even matter if the cop is black because it is the system.

As a rich athlete, he put his livelihood and his status on the line for those that were less fortunate than he is. I thought that is patriotism. It isn’t blind obedience to a symbol or even to an ideal which is shunted aside when it is inconvenient.

Hey little racist, while Millhouse is mopping the floor with your lame argument, do ya think you could knock off the personal attacks? It only makes you look more pathetic,

We’re going to have to put a Cringeworthy Rating on this if you keep losing so badly. You are embarrassing yourself, little racist.

As for BLM, what a farce. If you thought the US Government was gunning down your people in the streets, would you

        A) take a knee at a football game or

        B) quit the NFL and pick up a rifle

If you picked A, your just a narcissist promoting yourself in the most public way possible, on the backs of murdered black brothers.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sick.

But it gets worse. They “protest” (virtue signal) the “institutional racism” for the crowds, then march right back into to Roman Collesium to destroy each other for the amusement of the Roman fans.

Honest men, men of character and acting in good faith, would have recognized this.

I understand that the people here are the true ‘never never Trumpers’. But to take a sentence out of context; not just from the immediate parent comment but from the whole thread, is pathetic. SAD!

Why bother to argue at all? Why not just admit that you don’t give a damn. You couldn’t care less about justice for people who look like Kaepernick. You don’t really care what he was really trying to say.

The President is either so ignorant that he didn’t know what was being communicated; or he did know and saw an opportunity to twist it.(like you)

Its okay. The ‘never never Trumpers’ can’t be reached with logic, facts or reality (‘perhaps reality based TV’). I already asked: Why did you bother to respond a fallacy? Maybe the ‘never never Trumpers’ are just as thin-skinned as their leader? Get used to it. By 2020 Trumps approval rating will be down to 30%.

Anyone who’s been paying attention will know how ludicrous it is to accuse me of being a “never never trumper”.

You’re the one who brought up his athletic status as if that ought to shield him from being stopped for looking suspiciously like a car thief. And the fact is that to whatever extent he is more likely to be stopped, it’s because the totality of the circumstances, including his appearance, make it mroe likely that the car might be stolen. He is thankful for that police vigilance when it’s his car that’s stolen. If he doesn’t like the fact that his appearance increases his likelihood of being mistaken for a thief he should blame all the people who look like him and become thieves.

Another incredibly dumb, but wordy analysis.

You should work for the NY Times. But remember: you must first qualify as a bigot. Or, look as good as corey booker in over-sized Spartacus skivvies.

What happens when we catch our children lying? We don’t trust them until they change their ways. And good parents make them sorry, again and again until they change their ways.

Black Liars Matter, a cause built on lies does not matter. Hands were not up, but head was down while charging to commit assault a second time. That head deserved that bullet.

Blue Lives Matter more than criminal’s lives. Cops are far more credible that criminals.

The highest crime rate, by over seven fold matters, and that is why police give blacks quality time.

Stop lying and whining, it is meritless and does not matter.

I presume you are replying to the troll. He knows his arguments are disingenuous. The stated purpose by CK was a direct insult to the flag.

Just noticed. Scrolled up to read his tripe. Looks like Milhouse is all over it

The word “deranged” is becoming so commonly associated with the word “lefties” that soon the words will be as inseparable as the words “unmitigated” and “gall”, or the words “blithering” and “idiot”.

No Day for Kavanugh Thread? The Panels are funny. There was this one person that represented disabled people on the panel against Kavanugh. It was ironic because the liberals would have aborted her so she would have never been there.

The women minister was complaining about her insurance not paying for her IUD. It is funny because she got it before she was married. What a joke.

amatuerwrangler in reply to MarkSmith. | September 7, 2018 at 4:43 pm

“… insurance won’t pay for IUD..”? Why should your insurance pay for it? If you want to f**k around and not get PG, then take steps to prevent it: IUD, condoms, pills. They are not that expensive and there is no way someone else should pay for you to exercise a personal choice of action. I don’t expect AAA to provide me with brake shoes or oil filters. Insurance not paying for something is not the same as saying you cannot have it.

I firmly believe she was not consciously signaling anything with the first ‘white power symbol’ she was accused of displaying. I think it was inadvertent. Could be wrong, don’t know what was in her mind or heart, but I have no reason to believe her husband was just bullshitting us, though these days who knows even about that.

However, there is photographic evidence supporting the notion that the OK sign means ‘something’ other or more than ‘OK’ to certain groups of people, otherwise they wouldn’t take and publish photos of multiple individuals and groups displaying it in unison. There is one of Roger Stone surrounded by a dozen or more people, all signing OK for the camera – no idea of the significance, only they can say and they probably should be asked.

Assuming Bash was indeed just ‘trolling’ by using the OK sign yesterday in response to the SJW mob accusations, that’s a very bad and unprofessional look, and a serious disservice to Kavanaugh, not to mention to her own reputation. If I were Kavanaugh, she’d have lost her seat behind me the moment I was made aware of what she did. It was just childish and unbecoming for an individual who is otherwise so respected and accomplished. I hope she regrets it, no matter how ‘funny’ it may have seemed to her at the time, which was clearly not the time or place. This ‘owning the libs’ thing is getting to be annoying and counterproductive in this sort of public setting. Twitter, other social media, on your own time, etc., sure. But not this.

I, too, have zero need for Kavanaugh and still absolutely support him. But I wouldn’t intentionally expose him to potential ridicule or give his critics a needless boost if I was there to bolster his nomination.

I strongly support Kavanaugh and pretty much everything Trump’s administration has accomplished, so I hope she wasn’t giving me the finger.

There is a downside, win or lose, when we allow our opponents get away with cheating or unfair play.

It’s one of the reasons we lost the Culture Wars. Trying to fight with on arm tied behind our back.

It is naive to think you can keep the high ground while the other team kneecaps your starters, and still make it to the finals.

It’s like accepting voter fraud with “we’ll just have to win by 10% so they can’t steal it”. Eventually reality swallows up your margin. We don’t have that luxury.

Additionally, your philosophy comes on the heels of our own representatives abandoning conservative principles to bank some ephemeral Virtue Points instead of rolling up their sleeves and jumping in the mud. See: John McCain. They sing his praises now, but only after he died. Useless.
