What surprises do Democrats have up their sleeves for Thursday’s Kavanaugh hearing?

Democrats are desperate, and desperate people do desperate things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc_3qe9u2dA

As of this writing, it appears that Christine Blasey Ford still plans on testifying at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, September 27. A committee vote tentatively has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Friday, and a floor vote is likely early next week.

Ford’s attorneys still are objecting to some of the planned procedures, including the use of an as-yet unidentified female sex crimes prosecutor to ask questions for Republicans. Having complained that a female accuser would face questioning from the all-male Republicans on the committee, Democrats are now complaining that those male Senators have hired a female attorney to ask questions.

Ford is trying to micromanage other aspects of the hearing, such as press access and cameras. There still is a possibility she will not show up, claiming the hearing is unfair to her.

Democrat Senators plan on asking questions themselves, not wanting to lose the opportunity for video soundbites and pre-presidential primary posturing.

We may think we know how this is going to play out. The conventional wisdom is that Ford tells her story, tearfully, is verbally and maybe physically embraced by Democrat Senators.

Those same Democrat Senators will treat Kavanaugh with the same disrespect and venom as they directed his way during the prior hearing sessions. Expect Cory “Spartacus” Booker, Kamala “Edit the Video” Harris, Sheldon “Don’t Let The Witness Finish a Question” Whitehouse, and the others to give the performances of their lifetimes. The Whole World Is Watching.

But putting aside those theatrics and visuals, what can we expect between now and the conclusion of the hearings? Here are some possibilities, though I’m probably not capable of thinking up all the crazy sh-t Democrats might pull.

SURPRISE EVIDENCE!

Democrats have concealed evidence from Republicans both as to Ford and as to accuser Deborah Ramirez. There is every reason to believe Democrats have withheld other evidence they intend on springing either right before the hearing or in the middle of the hearing.

Chuck Grassley summed it up in his letter today rejecting Dianne Feinstein’s request to delay the hearing, referencing the Ford and Ramirez claims:

“The obvious connection between the two claims is that Senate Democrats hid both allegations of misconduct from the Committee and the public.”

What might that surprise evidence be? Could be a document from his past, a statement from someone who knew him, or even a surprise eyewitness who Ford “forgot” to previously mention. Democrats need to come up with something or someone to shake things up, because as of now all four of the people (including Kavanaugh) Ford has named as being present the night in question deny being there.

MORE ACCUSERS!

Twitter had fun today speculating that Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, was punked by 4Chan trolls as to his claim to have a client who will come forward with new accusations. He’s denying it. Don’t count Avenatti out. If he doesn’t come up with a new accuser, his only hope of future employment will be as the pole in a Stormy Daniels performance.

But whether it’s Avenatti or someone else, there is a strong likelihood someone will be brought forward with new accusations. Democrat operatives have been shaking every bush in Kavanaugh’s history hoping more accusers will fall out. That’s how they found Ramirez.

Remember, the goal is not to prove Kavanaugh did anything particular, but to scare off some weak Republican Senators and thereby Bork Kavanaugh with a losing floor vote. Swarming accusations could be one way to do that, particularly if those accusations arise just before or during the hearings.

RAMIREZ!

Chuck Grassley has rejected calls to include the Ramirez claims in the scheduled hearing because Ramirez has submitted no statement to the Committee. Kavanaugh already has been interviewed by committee staff about the Ramirez claim. But expect Democrats to grill Kavanaugh on the Ramirez claims. Maybe Ramirez even shows up, or has a press conference outside the Capitol.

PROTESTERS GONE WILD

Several dozen protesters disrupted Kavanaugh’s prior testimony. Thursday’s hearing is in a smaller room and appears more likely to be controlled. But the grounds around the Capitol and hallways inside will be filled with protesters being bused in from around the country. This will be like the Inauguration. Some of them likely will make their way into the hearing and try to disrupt Kavanaugh.

PERSONAL, REALLY PERSONAL

Expect Democrat Senators to ask the most personal questions of Kavanaugh about his sex life then and maybe even now, his drinking, basically to put his personal life on trial. You see it all over the media, with his high school yearbook entry being spun as a sign that he’s a sexual predator, and comments from his freshman roommate and others who knew him in college. It almost certainly will get ugly and the issue will be whether there are questions so personal in nature that either Chuck Grassley will instruct Kavanaugh he doesn’t have to answer or Kavanaugh will refuse to answer.

The point of this is not that light will be shed on whether Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Ford, but to make Kavanaugh a late night punch line, to marginalize and belittle him the way they have done to Clarence Thomas.

DELAY DELAY DELAY

All of the above serves the purpose of delay. In noticing a vote for Friday morning, Chuck Grassley made clear that it was necessary procedurally to notice the vote, since 3-days notice is needed. Grassley referred to it as a “potential” vote. There may be other devices used to create a delay, but what those are remains to be seen.

* * *

I’m certain of one thing. I haven’t been able to think up all the possibilities. Democrats are desperate, and desperate people do desperate things.

I was tired of this farce last week. Order should have been maintained, the vote should have proceeded as scheduled. As far as I’m concerned, the Republicans are complicit.

JusticeDelivered in reply to Anonamom. | September 25, 2018 at 10:06 pm

Being tired of it is not enough. Those creating these smear campaigns need to be identified and then punished, either within the law or outside the law. Most certainly, they have had no qualms operating outside law.

Milhouse in reply to Anonamom. | September 26, 2018 at 12:04 am

What do you think the Rs could have done to avoid this? Once it became clear that they didn’t have the numbers to just ignore this and go right to a vote, they had to do what it takes to get to 51 votes. If they had a comfortable majority, say 54 senators, none of this would be happening. They could just tell Flake & Collins and one or two others to do as they please but the vote would go ahead without them. But with 51 senators they can only afford to lose one.

“In every moment of truth, people bring either excuses or results. What do you bring?”

We elected these men and women with the expectation they
        1) would represent our interests and
        2) had some expertise in the political realm.

Instead, it appears they are only adept at shifting blame.

I don’t hire a plumber to wait on my suggestions as to how to best troubleshoot the problem and fix it. Else, I would just do it myself.

For almost a decade we were told “that can’t be done”, and then Trump did it. So the Failure Theater is now cancelled, that dog won’t hunt no more.

        A failure of imagination.

I’m beginning to wonder whether passive cowardice is a feature or a bug of conservative philosophy.

Maybe Vox Day was right all along?

I don’t think a third fake witness would impress the R wafflers. And they’re the only ones who matter. As soon as they’ve had enough the vote can go ahead no matter what the Dems do.

If the Dems boycott the committee, thus preventing it from sending the nomination to the floor, I’m 100% sure McConnell will take it directly to the floor without a committee vote, and I’m 99% sure the R wafflers will support that.

MORE ROOM for drama and theater… Dr. Ford involved in a tragic accident while arriving in a taxi. Dems demand the flag fly at half-mast in honor of all woman who attended slutty parties as a teenager.

If CBF appears it will be some actress paid to pay the part.

IIRC, “paper work” is supposed to be submitted to the Committee by some unspecified time dead line today..Has it been? What will Grassley do if her written testimony isn’t received by the Committee by 10:00 AM ET Tomorrow? Seems to me that the 10:00AM is the go/no go line.

Chuckin Houston in reply to SHV. | September 25, 2018 at 9:18 pm

The committee’s rules call for written testimony to be submitted 24 hours in advance of the hearing or 10:00 am tomorrow. If this deadline is missed (a good chance it will be in my opinion) will Grassley still let her speak? He doesn’t have to.

I’ve testified before legislative committees and regulatory boards and wouldn’t have dared to miss such as deadline for well-founded fear of damaging my client or employer’s cause.

Bucky Barkingham in reply to Chuckin Houston. | September 26, 2018 at 8:35 am

Grassley will continue to bend over backwards to accommodate Ford whether she meets procedural deadlines or not. Grassley is the limbo king of the Senate.

did she ever turn in her testimony to the committee? Or did Grassley let that slip too? Is it 10PM deadline? Or a sometime in 2025 deadline?

Feckless and worthless Murkowski is now calling for an FBI “investigation.” Transparently telegraphing to the whole world that she’s searching for a lifeboat exit from the SS Kavanaugh. Plumb-useless, I tell you. What a great poker player she must be, keeping her cards so close to the vest. And, I assume that her stalwart and predictable companion-in-uselessness, Collins, can’t be far behind. Flake and Corker will be bringing up the rear, no doubt.

Assuming minimal levels of law enforcement competence, six previous FBI background checks on Kavanaugh should have turned up evidence of his sexual deviance and misdeeds — if any such evidence actually existed. But, presumably, Murkowski believes that the Bureau has invented a secret time machine that will allow agents to visit some town in Maryland, in 1982 (or, was it 1981? Or, 1983), discover the “smoking gun” case-cracker at the house of the alleged party (perhaps by interviewing the cat and/or dog-in-residence), and, then, return to the present time, to proffer their evidence to the Committee.

Alaska has been lurching Left again in these past years. Anchorage has become Los Anchorage .. a city with a womens’ bathroom for every male “transitioning”. A lot of women are being invited to partake in “whipping it out” parties without the medicinal help of alcohol.

Milhouse in reply to alaskabob. | September 26, 2018 at 12:18 am

What are you talking about? The Ds have had many members over the years who don’t toe their line. “Blue dogs”, “moderates”, whatever you call them. Even to this day, there’s the “Independent Democratic Caucus”, a group of Dem NY state senators who kept the Rs in the majority for several years, but were mostly defeated at the primary two weeks ago. And there’s DINO senator Simcha Felder, who runs as a Democrat and then caucuses with the Republicans — and who decisively won his primary race after a brief scare early in the day.

sdharms in reply to guyjones. | September 26, 2018 at 5:52 am

don’t ever forget that Murkowski is where she is because John Cornyn as head of the RSC sent lawyers to Alaska and helped her do a write-in campaign against the primary winner Joe Miller. Every vote Murkowski takes can be laid at his feet.

Unsaid is that Democrats can only nominate female justices forever into the future as they have poisoned the water for any male Dem judge.

In my observations the legal profession (sorry WJ) seems to be laden with moral degenerates and degenerates rise especially well under the Dems to positions of power. The fact that a few are not both in reality and through the skewed lens of the nomination process is amazing to me. However- at the SCOTUS level, the public eye will see all and then some.

My REAL problem with Kavanaugh isn’t the accusations, rather its a very antiseptic history.

Milhouse in reply to Andy. | September 26, 2018 at 12:22 am

What makes a female nominee immune from such accusations? After all, this is the era of equal treatment. If this smear campaign is allowed to work, I expect the next nominee, male or female, to suffer the same treatment. After all, what’s the down side? What do the accusers have to lose? As James Carville said, “Drag a hundred-dollar bill through a trailer park, you never know what you’ll find”.

Dear Judge Garland:

I must apologize for not thinking of you sooner what with all the juicy news coming out of the capital and all. I just wanted your thoughts on a few things.
1) Do you think the Republicans would have lined up women with alcohol blurred memories to discuss your sex life in high school and college?
2) How do you feel about the full-on attack of Judge Kavanuagh by the very people that sponsored you?
3) How does it feel to have those sponsors turn jurisprudence inside out making the accused guilty until a negative can be proven?
4) Would you feel beholden to judge under these new principles?
5) Do the scales of justice now have a watchful eye peaking out from under the blindfold on certain types of cases?
6) Do the words “protect and defend the Constitution? apply to only protected classes such as Democrats and particularly female Democrats?

I understand you can’t really respond to these questions as a Judge but will you ever look at your Party’s supporters differently in the future?

Professor J. is on-point, in surmising that the purpose of the hearing, on the Dumb-o-crats’ side, will plainly be to degrade, humiliate, tarnish and vilify Kavanaugh, more than has been done, already. The Dumb-o-crats have long-since demonstrated they don’t give a damn about facts, evidence, presumption of innocence, burden of proof, fairness or procedure. They’re way above those silly conceits. They have a cudgel — well, a very thin reed — with which to lash Kavanaugh — for his pasty white skin, his conservatism, his male gender, his “frat boy” background, his “privilege,” his religious devotion, and, sundry other “sins” that he must be mercilessly flagellated for. And, the Dumbs will get their lashes in, make no mistake.

What the Left and Dumb-o-crats are attempting to do to Kavanaugh, specifically, and, to conservative Americans, at-large, is to utterly caricature and stereotype them, lump them all into a single group, strip them of any individuality, and, ultimately, dehumanize them and deny them any possible humanizing qualities. That is what makes the Left’s repeated, contemptible and insulting stereotypes of conservative Americans, born of self-congratulatory notions of moral and intellectual superiority, cloistered ignorance and contempt for anyone who thinks or worships differently — so offensive and dangerous. This goes way back, to Obama’s vile “bitter clingers” reference, and, to Hillary Clinton’s similarly vicious “irredeemable deplorables” remark. And, now, Kavanaugh and other prominent and less-prominent conservative Americans are reaping the predictable consequences of this type of ceaseless vilification and hostility, visited from everyone on the Left, from prominent Dumb-o-crat politicians, to their lemming media lackeys in Hollywood, to their water-carrying propaganda “journalists,” etc.

So, a man like Kavanaugh, who, by a multitude of accounts, is good, decent, kind and pious, and, who has led exemplary personal and professional lives, is mocked and derided. He is dehumanized, first, and, attacked second. He is denied his individuality, and, by extension, is denied the benefit of his lifetime of good works and good character, which, in any rational and sane setting, would more than nullify these transparently-contrived and baseless allegations.

You forgot 3:

1) Cory Booker cries on camera

2) Ford doesn’t show up on time, Democrats demand Kavanaugh answer questions anyway, and start demanding he answer ridiculous innuendo and unproven crap from Twitter

3) Same as #2, except after the clown show Democrats suddenly announce Ford is there and DEMAND that she be allowed to testify, and she claims Kavanaugh lied.

Whatever happens, it won’t be good.

I have a really bad feeling about this…this country is now mostly gone, and key foundational aspects are now crumbling.

Violence breaks out soon.

    Yep.
The only thing holding it back at this point is the midterm elections. The left expects to at least take back the House. If they don’t, riots will break out in many large cities as the left bellows the elections have been hacked and are not legitimate.

“If they don’t, riots will break out in many large cities as the left bellows the elections have been hacked and are not legitimate.”

I asked my little friends Colt and Kalashnikov last night, “What’s the correct term for a mob of violent leftists rioting in a large city?” They thought for a moment and replied, “A target rich environment.”

I’m really expecting two primary stall techniques.
First, the fake witness who will ‘verify’ the incident, if only the hearing were delayed to permit her testimony.
Second, the “Bursts into tears and flees the room” defense, after which the Dems will spirit her away to an undisclosed location while demanding the hearing be delayed so she can finish.

Most likely is the simple “Never shows” technique, which has fewer ways of going horribly wrong.

Still no evidence. So delay, delay, delay. Grassley/Flake/Collins et al will accommodate them. Time for McConnell to step up and punish them. He has no control over Flake, but the would not keep Pence from breaking a tie.
.
Time to make the fake Republicans step up and vote. They know they will be primaried.

Milhouse in reply to RodFC. | September 26, 2018 at 12:46 am

How does that help? There is no way to be immune from accusations of this sort. Even if you keep a detailed diary of every day’s significant events, as apparently Kavanaugh did, your accusers can always say that of course you didn’t record your wrongdoings, or the events at which they occurred, etc.

I ask this 99.5% joking and 0.5% serious:
Does a Dr. Ford really exist?

Two things. One, she is going to refuse to appear at the last minute because of…….. Two, Kavanaugh has some surprises himself and I expect him to lay them out. That is one of the reasons Ford did not give a time and place because Kavanaugh can show through family evidence that he was not there during that time. This is not going to ba a slam dunk by either side but I think Ford is a no-show.

Imagine if McCain was still alive?

I continue to believe that Ford’s attorneys will not let her testify under oath and expose herself to perjury charges. They are grasping at excuses for her to refuse to appear. If they cannot come up with something, the Dems will attempt to obstruct the hearing so it cannot take place.

I wouldn’t be surprised the left dresses someone in a Trump shirt / MAGA hat to jump out of the crowd and yell “Booga Booga” at Ford between the car and building – she’s rapidly spirited away to a safe house and the media has a field day trashing Trump as responsible somehow … by the time the perp is shown to be an SJW activist type, the damage is done and the media has moved on.

Milhouse in reply to MrE. | September 26, 2018 at 12:48 am

And that’s assuming the truth ever does come out, which is not guaranteed. This is a real possibility.

The Professor put his finger on it: “Remember, the goal is not to prove Kavanaugh did anything particular, but to scare off some weak Republican Senators and thereby Bork Kavanaugh with a losing floor vote.”

The attacks will be tailored towards the biases of the weakest GOP Senators. For example: Senator Murkowski has seemed very sympathetic about the need for an FBI investigation. Imagine if there’s some testimony making such an investigation more likely or more important…maybe some issue that only the FBI crime lab could answer, or something like that.

Anybody knows Judge Kavanaugh’s record on the Third Circuit? I know it’s difficult to look up every case but he must have some good rulings, no?

She’ll come up with some “corroborating” facts on the basis of which the Dems will demand more delay. Over the time, the new facts won’t lead to anything.

Why does he need financial support? Surely the White House is paying for his legal expenses, isn’t it?

I’ve heard “for security”, but that’s not the White House, that’s the U.S. Marshals. He is, after all, a federal circuit court judge, and threats to judges are addressed by that service.

The GoFundMe is therefore misguided from its inception.

I think Anita Hill will appear in her place. She has more experience in these things.

This is turning into the immaculate cuckholding. I cannot think of a man, in America, who would want to see that woman naked, let alone service her.

Chrissy never said that she was “serviced”, she only machinated that some guy might have wanted to see her naked. Most men want to see many women, naked.

I never want to see any elected democrat woman, naked. They are ugly with their clothes on.

As it were, I don’t feel any compelling urge to know what Brett’s wife looks life, naked. At a guess… she probably looks like most naked women in her age group.

I can tell you, with considerable certainty, that girls look like girls, all the way through life. God is a loving God and He makes it possible for old guys to see old girls just like they were young girls… and only wish that they were young guys!

Wait so Remizer’s legal team won’t speak to the senate staffers that contact them, but he will go on Anderson 360? ROFLMAO!

The sad part is even Cooper isn’t buying it anymore, he made the guy look like an ass.

Focus groups are indicating that the longer the dems delay the vote, the more their approval suffers.

Ford doesn’t show on time. Dems demand lawyers question Kavanaugh anyway. Immediately after questioning, Dems say….”wait! Dr. Ford just arrived… let us now ask her questions.”

Imagine if this situation were reversed: A Ford-like woman hired (R)-affiliated lawyers and made the exact same nonsense claim against a Hillary-nominated clown.

1.) It never would have gotten this far, the clown would have been confirmed.
2.) Pretending it did go this far, this Ford-like woman would have been hounded by TV cameras, still cameras, radio mics, reporters – she’d been pilloried and humiliated 24/7.

I find it odd that someone who is entering her second week of injecting herself in the business of the entire nation, trying to manipulate the 2018 elections, manipulate the makeup of the Supreme Court, consume the time and resources of every media outlet, etc. – I find it odd that this person has essentially been MIA the entire time. One newspaper interview with not a lot of quotes, no TV interviews, no paparazzi photos of her at Wal-Mart, no nothing but an undated grainy photo wearing sunglasses and another from high school.

Name anyone else this newsworthy who has been as absent?

How far it would have got would depend entirely on how big the D majority was. If it was this thin, in the current atmosphere you would have one or two red-state Dems demanding hearings, etc.

The main point is that until now Rs would not be looking for such accusers, so the whole scenario would not have happpened unless some genuine accuser came forward, in which case s/he’d have done so in proper time and it would all have been handled properly. This sort of shtick would never happen because Rs tend to be honest. But now that the dam’s been breached I expect this to happen at every nomination, R or D (assuming a D eventually becomes president), until something is done to stop it.

Colonel Travis in reply to Milhouse. | September 26, 2018 at 1:11 am

Correct. And we don’t even have to turn to hypothetical, just refer to the Clinton years.

People who are credible do not hide. No Clinton accuser hid behind lawyers like this. They would have killed to have a fawning media back then. I think Jimmy Kimmel was drinking beer and watching girls on trampolines at the time.

She would have committed Arkancide. The Hildebeast has grown more ruthless, as the dementia sets in.

And…. now it is supposedly moved to Friday.

Just a note: If anybody *ever* says this witness was silenced, feel free to laugh right in their face.

If she does not appear, then Grassley needs to either call the vote and take the written and interview testimonies as evidence. No need for Kavanaugh to testify, again.

Hold the vote – on the Senate floor, if there is even a cintilla of possibility that the Judiciary Committee will not pass him on to a floor vote.

He deserves to be seated ASAP. Murky Murkowski, Collins, Flake, and any other (so-called) Rs who do not vote YEA must suffer severe consequences. McConnell needs to hammer that into their mushy skulls.

Murky in particular should suffer, because she betrayed the Republican Party and ran as an I because she lost her R primary….and she was a sore loser. Her win is VERY fishy…….so, she should be under heavy pressure to vote YEA or suffer, financially and by losing her seats on committees, etc.

#CallTheVote #HoldTheVote #EndThisFarce

Grassley said he would hold the vote if everything was set for it, meaning that they’d whipped the caucus and had 50 or 51 votes. I disagree: he should hold the vote regardless and let the fury of the base come down on the holdouts.

But with voter fury on the line, it’s likely that other GOP Senators may feel backlash, so that the party almost certainly won’t do that.

I can easily see this devolving into a state of limbo: can’t hold the vote, but won’t name the traitors.

If Ford doesn’t show up, can Feinstein be called as a witness, since she is the source of the allegation?

There’s no need for Ford to show up. This whole thing is nothing but a bowling alley for the D’rats to roll hand grenades, and they don’t need amateur help to do that. And it won’t end until the Gang of Four tire of the antics; that has nothing to do with Ford, either.

The Dems will do something to ensure that CBF is late, does not show up on Thursday or some such thing to ensure that judge Kavanaugh testifies first, and then contact the Committee to tell it that she is ready to testify, thus getting what they want… the judge to go first so that they can then challenge everything he says and any evidence he may provide.

Robert Arvanitis | September 26, 2018 at 7:24 am

Professor, It’s a mark of your fundamental integrity and human decency that you may not have considered ALL the possible evil democrats do That’s why we have words like “unimaginable” for the very worst things people do.

I heard that Feinstein commented ‘will no one rid us of this troublesome judge?’

The demonRats are Hateful, Vile and ARE the Enemy of Americans & America. Vote them ALL out of public office come this Fall !!!

Here is the likely scenario. Kavanaugh makes it through the committee, but one day before the scheduled vote in the full Senate, Ford files sexual assault charges in Maryland. The Dems then contend that you can’t vote for a Supreme Court candidate who has criminal charges pending and the vote must be delayed until the “matter” is resolved.

You left off using all shenanigans to prevent a quorum for the vote.

I think they will do all of the above. Your list is very complete. I wondered if she would say she’s coming but can’t get there (car problem, time-distance problem, anxiety) until after the final deadline, and requests having ONE MORE day.

Delay, delay.

Or she will get there and then….sudden chest pain, pain in arms, lightheaded, shortness of breath, nausea. Ambulance to hospital and request for ONE MORE day.

    Delay, delay, delay.

Lionel Hutz: Surprise witnesses! Each more surprising than the last!

I hope they Republicans have a political “derringer” up theirs.

This is. only the second time in American history when losers denied. the legitimacy of a presidential election. The first was 1860. Now as then the Democrats aren the party of treason. Keep your rifles loaded.

Re: what more would you suggest the GOP do?

Spectral evidence, like they used in the Salem witch trials?
