Feds Spend Over $1 Million Training Social Justice Math Teachers

“The project intends to promote social justice teaching”

Cant you imagine the lesson plans? If I have two apples and you have one apple, how much more racist am I?

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

Feds Spend $1,009,762 Training ‘Social Justice’ Math Teachers

The National Science Foundation is spending over $1 million to train two-dozen “social justice” math teachers in Philadelphia.

The Drexel University project will promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) high school curriculums that are “steeped in the context of social justice.”

The project, which began this summer, is recruiting 24 Drexel students earning a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, which they will train to teach in school districts in Philadelphia.

“The project will use recent scientific, mathematical, and educational knowledge to prepare and support the twenty-four pre-service teacher candidates with an emphasis on understanding the culture and life experiences of students in high-need schools,” according to the grant for the study.

The stated goal of the study is to “promote social justice teaching.”

“The project intends to promote social justice teaching, which emphasizes connecting science, mathematics, and engineering instruction to students’ personal experiences and culture,” the grant explains. “This connection can leverage the funds of knowledge that each student brings to learning.”

The project has received $1,009,762 from taxpayers so far. Research will continue through May 2023.

“Social Justice” and math are mutually exclusive. Anyone with an understanding of mathematics realizes “social justice” is leftist propaganda.

Since “social justice” often embraces FREE STUFF FOR EVERYBODY…. and someone else, somewhere else will somehow magically pay for it —-

— sort of renders it a oxy(and-other!)moron in the realm of mathematics.

Just doesn’t (*ahem*) add up.

Here’s a good math problem to give the social-justice math students, asked of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

“Your platform has called for various new programs including Medicare-for-all, housing as a federal right, a federal jobs guarantee, tuition-free public college, canceling all student loan debt,” said Tapper, listing a few of the items the New York candidate has promised to pursue. “According to nonpartisan and left-leaning studies friendly to your cause including the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities or the Tax Policy Center, the overall price tag is more than $40 trillion in the next decade.”

“You recently said in an interview that increasing taxes on the very wealthy, plus an increased corporate tax rate would make $2 trillion over the next ten years,” Tapper continued. “So where is the other $38 trillion going to come from?”

How about the math problem from season 4 of The Wire? It just needs to be presented in culturally-appropriate terms.
