Keith Ellison Accuser Karen Monahan Describes Alleged Abuse to CBS News

Karen Monahan, the woman accusing Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) of abuse, sat down with CBS News to describe the incidents for the first time on camera:
“He looked at me, goes ‘Hey you f***ing hear me … and then he looked at me, he goes ‘Bitch, get the f*** out of my house,’ and he started to try to drag me off the bed,” Monahan said. “That’s when I put my camera on to video him.”
Ellison, now a candidate for Minnesota attorney general, has denied abusing Monahan. She alleges the abuse happened two years ago.
Monahan also has not shared the video with anyone since “it’s too traumatic for her.” CBS continued:
She said she called a friend after the incident and told them she was “at the lowest of the low.”
Monahan said she saved the video on her computer. This past Saturday, Monahan’s son, Austin, posted a message on Facebook saying that in the middle of 2017, he found the video, almost two minutes long, showing Ellison dragging his mother off a bed and telling her to get out of his house.
Monahan said she should not have to release the video of the incident in order to be believed. She believes her words should be enough.
Monahan told CBS News she has the video on a thumb drive.
Monahan said that she decided to speak out now because she followed her gut, the same “gut that I kept trying to push down.” She previously shared text messages between her and Ellison with CNN:
Monahan provided one text of her mentioning the physical altercation to Ellison in December 2017.
“Keith, We never discussed — the video I have of you trying to drag me off the bed, yelling get the f*** out now, calling me a bitch and saying I hate you bitch,” the text message read. In follow up texts viewed by CNN, Ellison did not directly address the physical altercation.
Other messages viewed by CNN do not specifically show incidents of verbal abuse.
In one, she tells Ellison that she plans to mention him in her book and he says she does not have his permission to do so. Other text messages showed Ellison and Monahan discussing removing her things from the apartment they shared after Monahan moved out. The conversations are at times cordial.
Despite the accusations coming out last weekend, the DNC didn’t respond until Tuesday. From National Review:
“These allegations recently came to light and we are reviewing them. All allegations of domestic abuse are disturbing and should be taken seriously,” read a DNC statement to NPR, published shortly before polls closed in Minnesota.
“The party has no choice but to suspend him at a minimum until they figure out what’s going on,” former DNC communications director Luis Miranda told NPR. “Frankly, it would be malpractice not to. We’ve made it clear we’re going to take these accusations seriously, at a minimum. We set too high a standard not to take this seriously.”

But as everybody knows, some “allegations of domestic abuse” are more equal than others.
How muzzies treat their women is a matter of record. Why, she could’ve been beheaded.
When an allegation can’t be denied the media will effectively ignore the story and it will whither and die on the vine.
Sure they can come back and say “but look, we did cover the story” but mentioning it once and then completely ignoring it is not the same as covering it 24/7/365.
This is starting to get traction. So I won’t be surprised if the media now turns on her and begins to publish and mention all kinds of dirt they find on her from the past. Maybe when she was 18 she hit a boyfriend. Or maybe she’s had a few rough relationships. Or something. They could find a reason to start to doubt her or assign some blame to her, etc.
Then again if she ever voted GOP or made a non-progressive statement this could be all over for her. (Being partly cynical.)

But a man should be able to determine who should be in his house and who shouldn’t. He doesn’t need a reason. If she’s a special princess who thinks her word is better than evidence, that might a good reason to throw her out. And if she’s the type who goes around videoing things in somebody else’s house, that would be a dynamite reason too. And if she’s dragging her feet about vacating and he calls her a bitch, I’m not going to get all overheated about it. Even if the #metoo squad thinks I should.
Even an anti-American shit like Ellison has rights.

In most states, certainly in Georgia where I am, if a person lives in your abode, they are entitled by law to 60 days notice to vacate and if they don’t at that time, you can file a dispossessory action to evict them.
Self-help is not permitted. Simply not permitted.

The former has some rights to possession and some level of legal action could be necessary to remove her should she not wish to leave. A mere guest is another story, and states vary on what is considered actionable trespassing. Neither situation makes battery an option, and in the former, when one batters a cohabitant they are committing a felony in most states.
Domestic abuse of women is found in all cultures. But only in one – Islam – is it divinely authorized! See Surah 4,34 which permits Muslim men to beat their wives for disobedience. Now if Muslim women can be beaten with the blessings of their Allah, how, you might wonder, will non-Muslim women be treated?

From the Ohio State thing we also learned that the accused coach was being paid $340k/year and was the LOWEST paid assistant on staff. Wow.
$340,000 a year for a coach. Yes, yes, I know about how college ball teams allegedly bring in all kinds of income blah blah. I just find it sad that the proficiency of a school’s ball team is of such importance, rather than the quality of the graduates.
The Friendly Grizzly, I just think the players ought to get paid. This idea that they’re potentially damaging their bodies and the school gets all the income, shows adults are willing to sacrifice young naive people for their own benefit.

There are so many sides to the “pay” argument, pro and con. I agree that there needs to be better protection for kids who either injure out of NFL viability or just never make it. Some fund or something. But the NFL upside is huge. But if you start paying them, you should just remove it from higher education entirely and start some other professional “starter” league. There will be fewer athletes getting and education, which is fine I guess. But there will probably also be many fewer kids in such a league and others who never make it “big”. Those who don’t are left with nothing but a HS diploma.
However, making it sound like the kids are too naive is off the mark.
Most schools stress both. Are you suggesting schools like Stanford don’t have good football teams and sacrifice academics? Most Div 1 college football value being highly rated for athletic graduations rates, too.
Interesting. It makes one think of Boston College: I don’t recall their appearance in any BCS bowl games recently and we have been treated to the quality of their Economics and their International Relations programs in just last couple of months.
The big schools are basically minor leagues for the NFL and the NBA. The schools should offer a major in Professional Athletics and let the leagues offer scholarships in that major, and underwrite the program in general. Should someone choose this major when they don’t stand a chance of ever making an NFL or NBA team, too bad. They can take a number and wait their turn to complain with all the gender and racial studies majors who find themselves unequipped to survive in the real world.
BC doomed its football and basketball programs when it joined the ACC. The school makes more money because it is associated with a big time conference and they rev share but they will never consistently compete on a national scale in either sport again.

The woman is loose with the truth. In the first statement above she turned the camera on AFTER the claims of verbal abuse and dragging her off the bed. In the second statement (the text) she claims to have video of what he said and did BEFORE she admits turning on the video.
That’s some camera she’s got.
Mr. Ed: She said that he tried to drag her off the bed, and then she started to video it. So she might have video’d the continuing act of his trying to drag her off the bed.
As to his verbal comments, he might have repeated himself. When I have been yelling curse words, I have repeated myself. So this seems plausible to me.
I can understand how a woman who has been verbally abused and physically accosted would be timid / shaken to talk about it – certainly it can be as traumatic to relive the incident in testimony as it was when it happened – for there is always the potential to be re-victimized by disbelief.
There are for me some red-flags – the sequence she describes of when she “put her camera on to video him”. Though the event happened 2 years ago (mid-2016) she didn’t text Ellison until Dec. 2017. Perhaps that just speaks to her needing time to work up the courage to confront him and speak out – but it could also suggest a credibility problem.
I hope she lets someone trustworthy view the video to corroborate her version of events. Like the police.

At this point, Farrakhan denier Ellison is running for AG, in reality, a way more powerful position than congress/senate, and co-chair of the DNC.
As the top LAW OFFICER of a state – if he’s been physically abusive, it needs to be vetted properly. If there’s evidence, it needs to be shown.
On one hand, sounds like an angry ex with a grudge. OTOH, if true…
Got no love for Ellison myself, he’s a creep and a liar. But his position as AG, would give him ample opportunity to PERSECUTE/PROSECUTE those who are contrary to his beliefs – and give a PASS to those who aren’t.
Politics is one thing, but that much bias has no business as AG.
