Federal authorities have located and arrested a California man suspected of threatening to kill FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s children. He faces a maximum of 10 years in the federal slammer.

He “is charged with a threatening to murder a member of the immediate family of a U.S. official with the intent to intimidate or interfere with such official while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with the intent to retaliate against such official on account of the performance of official duties,” says the Department of Justice.

According to a Department of Justice press release, the man was upset about the repeal of net neutrality and was trying to frighten Pai in retaliation.

The Daily Caller reports:

According to a Department of Justice press release, the man was “angry” that Pai repealed net neutrality and wanted to “scare” him. One email from the 33-year-old California man included a framed photograph of Pai’s family.

“The first email accused Chairman Pai of being responsible for a child who allegedly had committed suicide because of the repeal of net neutrality regulations,” the release said. “The second email listed three locations in or around Arlington, and threatened to kill the Chairman’s family members. The third email had no message in its body, but included an image depicting Chairman Pai and, in the foreground and slightly out of focus, a framed photograph of Chairman Pai and his family.”

He doesn’t realize that net neutrality is just a way for government to control the internet.

That and shared expense of high bandwidth corporate products. There are two high profile cases that inform our sensibilities: the unPlanned penalty tax of Obamacare, and compelled redistributive change to public unions. Progressive costs in the former, and for-profit Democrat funding in the latter.

Yep, in typical progressive / Orwellian fashion, the true result of their policies is typically the opposite of what they name them.

I actually follow Ajit on Twitter. He has some of the most clever tweets, but the comments that follow are vile even for Twitter.

“I will find your children and I will kill them”

Doesn’t sound too neutral

I hope he is convicted and does hard time.

I cannot imagine being that incensed about “net neutrality” that I would threaten to kill for it.
What’s wrong with these people?

    “What’s wrong with these people?”

They’re stark raving mad lunatics, in other words, commies.

    “What’s wrong with these people?”

That is a question every single victim of Mao’s Red Guard, Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge, Hitler’s Youth Brigade and Stalin’s commissars have asked.

The problem is by the time they asked the question, an answer wouldn’t have helped them much.

They should have asked that question about now, relative to our current history.

Besides, we know what’s ‘wrong’ with these people: narcissism, on inflicted upon people by our leftist educational system, and the democrat media.

Instead of asking, ‘why,’ we should ask ‘how to bring them back to sanity, or imprison them.’

This guy should be made an example of. He’ll become the spokesman for reformed useful idiots.

Weak-minded people are being incited to violence by the Democratic Party.

This is simply more of the same activity which the liberal/Progressives have been engaged in for the last 50 years. Nothing new here.

The biggest problem with the net neutrality issue is that the majority of people do not understand what it was to begin with. Ask ten people what net neutrality entailed and you will get eight different answers. And, the majority of people today simple take as gospel whatever their favorite ideologically biased news source tells them.

Net neutrality was a mess. It greatly increased government regulation of internet communications. This was sold to the American people as being necessary for the purpose of keeping access to the internet open to all users. A changes to the existing regulations eliminated almost all of the government regulation of internet access. However, it was done in order to allow ISPs to make more money by charging third party internet sites to allow their customers to access those sites. It was done strictly for business purposes in order to benefit ISPs. In other words, the new net neutrality swung too far the other direction.

It will eventually swing back to the middle, if, as is likely, ISPs begin to charge third party commercial sites to allow their customers access to those sites, or to bar access to certain sites for ideological purposes. There is no reason for violence or threats of violence over this issue. It will be self correcting, over time.

An example of social safety net neutrality, inspired probably by social media.
