California May Offer Free Healthcare to Illegal Immigrants

California May Offer Free Healthcare to Illegal Immigrants

“California has 1.5 trillion in debt and on the top of it, that we have $258 billion unfunded pension liability.”

California seems determined to do everything it can to spite Trump, even if their decisions ultimately bankrupt the state. They already have an illegal immigration problem. Won’t offering free healthcare to illegals make the situation worse?

Nick Givas reports at the Daily Signal:

California Could Become First State to Offer Health Care to Illegal Immigrants

Orange County 2nd District Supervisor Michelle Steel said Monday on Fox Business’ “After The Bell” that California could become the first state to offer free health care services to illegal immigrants.

“California has 1.5 trillion in debt and on the top of it, that we have $258 billion unfunded pension liability. We’re talking about only two big unions we’re talking about, like public employees union and teachers union. Only that, $258 billion. How are you going to add more money for health care coverage for illegals?” Steel said. “I mean, this is almost like obnoxious.”

Steel said the state government is pushing its agenda too far and thinks its financial estimates are unreliable.

“In 2015 they passed under 18, illegal immigrants that they can get the coverage. They say it was only going to cost only $182 million. It ended up costing $280 million. Almost double that,” Steel added. “So when they say it it’s $3 billion you don’t know how much it’s going to cost. We’re talking about 1.2 million people. You know what? They are really pushing it way too far.”

Here’s the clip from FOX Business:

If you think this isn’t all about defying Trump, guess again.

Victoria Colliver writes at Politico:

California rebukes Trump with health care push for immigrants

California is poised to become the first state in the nation to offer full health coverage to undocumented adults even as the Trump administration intensifies its crackdown by separating families at the border.

The proposal — which would build on Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2015 decision to extend health coverage to all children, regardless of immigration status — is one of the most daring examples yet of blue-state Democrats thumbing their nose at President Donald Trump as they pursue diametrically opposed policies, whether on immigration, climate change, legalized marijuana or health care…

But at a time when Trump is already attempting to re-energize state Republican voters — he met with California conservatives at the White House last week to strategize against the state’s sanctuary policies — the initiative might be risky. For starters, it will be costly: The annual price tag to expand Medicaid benefits to poor adult immigrants without legal status is projected at $3 billion annually. Some also worry that extending health coverage could make California a magnet for undocumented immigrants from other states.

There’s a famous quote attributed to Ronald Reagan:

Gov. Moonbeam gave yesterday orders to the Agriculture Department to plant trees on which the money will grow to finance his policies. As soon as the trees bear money, the bills will be paid!

Liberalism fails because, well, not enough liberalism was tried to make it really work this time. Double down Moonbeam! Meantime, any middle class sensible people who can are leaving the state.

The deeper the debt hole, the greater the urgency of a Federal bailout. Or so we can expect Schumer et al to claim.

That is what I have been thinking: Create a crises and then exploit it.

When (not if) they go into default on the money owed, who ends up paying the bill? It might be more expedient if we sell California to Mexico, then the citizens of that great State can become the illegal immigrants of Mexico, it would be lovely to see how well that goes.

$550 billion revenue + $1.75 trillion expenditure = Surplus.
Therefore we can spend more money.

It seems to me that Mexico is trying to take California in the same way Muslims try to take over countries. How about the federal government come up with lots of excuses to stop Federal funds flowing to the state? Nudge them towards bankruptcy.
Then start seizing illegals assets. Seize money they are trying to transfer to Mexico, to pay for the wall. Could existing forfeiture laws be used this way?

Knowing Californians’ penchant for fair play, they will love the idea of paying for their own healthcare AND the healthcare of the millions of illegals living next door . . .LOL
It’s a a GREAT state that will give away the assets of it’s citizens to accomodate illegal aliens!

I simply cannot understand how any thinking person could imagine the consequences of “Free” healthcare for illegals. Put it in simpler terms. Offer free hotdogs and sodas in any area where there are people and you will never have enough food to feed all of them. Usually “Free” means a loss leader for another product like autos or a large sale. To give “Free” healthcare to people implies that it cost no one anything. We all know that’s not true. With the new tax on gas and now this proposal of free care to illegals, California is just about at the tipping point where it turns Red!

What happens when California becomes insolvent as I do not think a state can file for bankruptcy protection (correct me if I am wrong)?

Does CA just prioritize payments? Debt holders are SOL? Unions get cash? The Dems can do what they do now — decide on who wins and who loses.

It is unprecedented for a state to declare bankruptcy and will be the source of the crisis of our next economic downturn which is in full motion. Interesting times are these.

Lots of states already give illegals free health care. In my state they only have to declare they do not intend to return home. I don’t know all the requirements in other states and of course ERs now look like a Guatemalan bus station. They ain’t paying for that.

They couldn’t even be bothered to learn Spanish after five hundred years. And some Jack wagon thinks they’ll assimilate just fine.

California offering free health care to everyone on the planet who can get into the state. Gee, what could possibly go wrong?

What a hostile foreign country does with its healthcare policy is not our problem. Build the wall along the Mexican and California borders with America.

And any homeless in this country need to be given non-refundable airline tickets to SF, LA, and Sacramento along with a $5.00 Starbucks card.

Please pay attention. You no longer need a starbux card to enjoy their hospitality. A local store with a fauxbux kiosk had to remove their microwave as everyone was making condiment soup for lunch, and by everyone, I just mean smelly homeless people.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to MajorWood. | May 26, 2018 at 4:50 pm

I know that you don’t NEED a Starbucks card. My goal is to get the largest number possible to be thinking about going to Starbucks when they arrive, causing them to desire that hospitality. Instead of having the homeless wander in by chance, have the largest number of them drawn to that first visit. This will maximize the effect on Starbucks and their SJW/Millenial customer base in the shortest amount of time. Sometimes it costs a bit to strike a more effective blow.

I think we share goals, just have different methods.

How much does it cost run commercials in Mexico?

Because the California Governor’s Mansion is hosting a year long party. Free food and booze, easy women. Lawn parking. Everyone is invited. Bring a tent and stay for few months.

Weekends are always inventory surplus reductions. See something you like? It’s yours.

Here’s the address and a map.

The minute this passes, no Medicare or Medicaid money should be sent to CA.

It’s the new California Affordable Care Act – CACA!

conservative tarheel | May 25, 2018 at 6:57 pm

have they set up stations along the boarder with AZ and NV to change ppl leaving the state…. a tax on U hauls leaving the state and other revenue …

There are good Californians and bad Californians. The good ones realize that the state is lost and are escaping. The bad ones are chunks of protoplasm which somehow break free and metastasize the disease in a new location. Statistically, anyone under 30 is a potential bad Californian.

Henry Hawkins | May 25, 2018 at 10:05 pm

Another 20 years or so and, gosh, California will be like heaven on Earth.
