Over 50 Student Groups at NYU Pledge to Boycott Israel

Israel is the only nation in the region that protects the rights of women and the LGBT community, a fact campus progressives seem to always dismiss.

More than 50 NYU groups pledge to boycott Israel
More than 50 student groups at New York University have pledged to boycott Israeli goods and academic institutions, and are urging the school’s administration to join the cause.
Led by NYU Students for Justice in Palestine, the petition of support urges students to boycott brands such as Sabra Hummus and Hewlett Packard, boycott Israeli academic conferences and schools, and demand that NYU divest from Israeli companies.
The authors of the petition attempt to justify their view by labeling the military occupation of Palestine as a “manifestation of both settler colonialism and structural racism” while arguing that the “Israeli economy is built on and currently complicit with colonization, exclusion, and apartheid.”
The petition also targets two student pro-Israel groups, Realize Israel and TorchPAC, both of which are dedicated to promoting support of Israel and strengthening the United States-Israel relationship.
Likewise, the petition urges students to boycott any “off-campus pro-Israel groups” including Birthright-Taglit, StandWithUs, Christians United for Israel, the Maccabee Task Force, Mosaic United, the Zionist Organization of America, and the Anti-Defamation League.
“We support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement for Palestinian human rights as it is a non-violent method of resisting Israeli apartheid from abroad,” the petition states. “We call on NYU to divest its holdings from companies and funds that are complicit in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.”

These kids wouldn’t know apartheid if it bit them. If they did care about apartheid, they’d be protesting Gaza and the PA, and Israel’s expulsion of Jews from Gaza.
As Dennis Prager has observed, the biggest proof that the apartheid smear is nonsense is the fact that no one made that accusation against Israel while there was actual apartheid going on in South Africa.
Israel seems to occupy such an immense place in these students’ minds, considering that it is (in population and land area) one of the smallest nations on Earth.
Perhaps some enterprising psych majors might find some fruitful experiments in asking some of them to draw their mental map of the Middle East and then comparing their images with actual maps?
Assuming they can find a map-maker who recognizes Israel’s existence, of course.
If offered a choice between spending a year in Israel or a year in Gaza, are we to suppose they’d actually choose … Gaza? And if they did (and assuming they survived), would they be any wiser?
