North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un Invites Trump to Meet

North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un Invites Trump to Meet

There will also be a meeting between Kim and the South Korean president.

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un wants to meet President Donald Trump as soon as possible. South Korean security adviser Chung Eui-Yong told the media that the dictator is “committed to denuclearization” and eager to meet with the president.

Last week, Kim Jong Un told South Korean envoys that he is open to dialogue with the United States and would even stop missile/nuclear programs during said meeting.

I personally do not like this. It will legitimize the evil regime and give them an opportunity to take advantage of us. The regime will use it as propaganda and they have over and over used denuclearization to attempt to gain the upper hand.

More than likely North Korea will keep its nukes and in the end we’ll look like idiots.

All lies.

The resistance, so-called, can bitch all it wants, but this guy Trump is getting stuff done. This is real movement on the NK front, a front that Clinton and Albright in particular appeased so that the can could be kicked even further down the road, a tactic that Bush followed. And the One’s performance was beyond pathetic. Maybe nothing will come of this proposed meeting, but it certainly is something new.

DTJ is showing real leadership in the Mid-East, on tax reform, on dealing with our so-called allies, and on and on.

If this is for real, it should be welcome news.

Back in the 1990’s, Businessman Trump cheered for Bill Clinton’s sending food aid to a North Korea suffering from [probably manmade] famine. President Trump, however, made it clear he would not tolerate a North Korean nuclear provocation. This, I believe, was not the way of an inexperienced Maverick, but a pragmatic leader thinking, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”

If there are talks which end up all symbol and no movement of North Korea’s de-nuclearization, Trump will rightly go back to being the tough guy.

On the other hand, I suspect that Kim Jong Un may well be figuring that during the next famine, the North Korean peasants may decide there’s more nourishment to be had from a well-fed Communist cadre than from their own starved children.

Well, North Vietnam wanted to and did meet with us too.

Whitewall, with all due respect, hopefully this is a different circus, different monkeys. President Trump’s attitude and actions lend credence to a different outcome.

Hope you’re right, but a communist is a communist and this one is a member of a family diety.

I agree of course that Kim is scum, and can’t be trusted. There’s a good case to be made that we should just launch a preemptive nuclear strike tomorrow and end all this nonsense once and for all. BUT a lot of people, including the South Koreans and the Japanese, would be very upset about that, and they have some valid concerns.

So we’ve made a decision to hold off on the nuclear strike, and I can’t say that’s wrong. But if we’re not going to attack, then what are we going to do? Talking to Kim is better than doing nothing at all, which is what we’ve been doing for decades.

The first thing President Trump needs to do, is say that he’ll only meet with the Little Fat One on American soil.

If Trump can pull this off, wow!

The egg on the faces of his detractors, who are still so wrong with their lofty pronouncements.

The big guys don’t have a meeting to negotiate, they have a meeting after all that’s done and the cameras are called in for the signing ceremony.

That’s if there’s a meeting at all. It would make more sense for Trump to stage a meet & greet with the president of Albania than with the Norks.

All Orientals are obsessed with “face” and status. A meeting with the President of the United States is a huge prize—not something to be given away cheaply.

The possibility that Trump might end the nuclear standoff with NK and get credit for it has some people scared to death.

Half the American navy is off their coast. They are not dealing with someone who puts his finger to the wind before making decisions.

Washington DC hardest hit. Percentage of beltway folks that are happy with these developments? I’d wager it’s less than 10%… especially at State. Probably 10 ppl in the whole building. Heh.

The way I read Fat Boy’s commitment is that he is willing (for now, till sanctions are lifted) to not develop the nuclear weapons further than they are, not that he is willing to give up his nuclear weapons. I do not believe he would negotiation in good faith, but there should still be some kind of meeting to gauge the truth of his willingness.

I don’t see North Korea bowing to any reunification unless he and his henchmen are the ones in power. That would just enlarge the cesspool of North Korea to encompass all of Korea. Kim Jong-un is far too narcissistic to be anything less than the Leader of a unified Korea.

Little Kimmy might give up a token of nuclear weapons if it lifts sanctions, but I trust him as much as I trust Iran. The other side of that coin, Kim would lose negotiation strength if he disarmed totally. His country is little more than a large concentration camp, his control is nearly absolute, and like his father before him, he isn’t going to give that up.

I do believe he is scared, and this seems like some bluster to get some concessions to loosen the noose around him. He is probably also getting pressure from China.

I would love to see something positive come from this, but unlike the media who were gushing over unification of Korea during the Olympics, I just don’t see that happening unless Kim steps down along with most of his military. I’m not holding my breath… but there is always hope.

considering the deviousness of Little Rocket Man/Putin/Ji

I would never meet outside the USA – just don’t trust ’em –

they can Skype 😉

In all odds, Japan or South Korea.

The *real* question is: Multilateral or bilateral?

The North Koreans want bilateral, 1:1 where they can be considered just as important as the USA, much the same as any ten-cent tinpot dictator in the Middle East. The US always wants *multi*-lateral talks with the countries affected directly involved. That is unless you’re sending a green light and a few pallets of greenbacks to a dictatorial theocracy who only wants to see what their neighbors look like glowing in the dark.

I hope Trump puts Liquid Skin on his hands for the handshake. Somehow I suspect that Kim will have a deadly virus smeared on his.

Trump should say “Sure, let’s meet, but the sanctions will stay in place until you actually denuclearize and that’s NOT negotiable.”

They should meet on an aircraft carrier

Personally, I think the Chinese made Kim Jong Un an offer he could not refuse.

    Please explain.

They’re tired of Kim’s bravado, they do not want a war on the peninsula because hoards of NKs will charge for the China border, and I don’t think it is a coincidence that soon after Trump’s tariffs were announced you suddenly saw this offer from NK. China’s economy isn’t bulletproof, there are things that could seriously damage it.

The path to getting anything from NK runs through China. China charges the rest of the world a fee for keeping NK reined in. The Chinese have used this arrangement to get favorable trade deals, etc for themselves and have blamed the instability of NK leaders for the failures of the deals they negotiated with NK to deliver as hoped. An unstable leadership in NK benefits the Chinese, and no one else. They have had no incentive to change it, but NK may be pushing the limits of what the Chinese will allow.

But now we have an interesting situation. The collapse of the mountain NK uses to test nukes has severely hindered, if not destroyed, their program. That reduces their leverage. Trump is increasing the pressure on NK. At the same time, he is applying pressure to the Chinese in the form of tariffs. Trump has also strengthened the US-SK alliance. SK would like to see trade with their kin in NK, something NK desperately needs. There are many possible scenarios here. Some good, some bad. But, for the first time in decades, the US and SK have some leverage to apply to BOTH parties on the other side.

China needs US dollars more than that NK a-hole.

Trump, by any standard, is proving himself to be one of the great free-nation leaders in history.

Now compare obama. Or klinton. Or bush.

What an amazing gift Donald Trump has been. And at exactly at the right time.

Trumps deal. Regime change. South Korea unifies with the North, Kim and his administration leave. Where to does not matter but I suggest the Federal Supermax in Colorado for intense retraining. This path is older than the illegal immigration fiasco.

Meeting takes place in Hawaii. China and South Korea participate. Final deal is that Kim and the entire regime is taken in exile to China to live out their days in well-fed isolation. Free health care by Mayo Clinic. China, the US and South Korea agree to govern North Korea jointly for 25 years during which time the entire Korean Peninsula is de-nuclearized. All foreign (i.e., US) troops leave immediately. Limits placed on South Korea’s military budget. In 25 years talks to begin on re-unification. The US will pay 60% of all costs involved during this period but will have veto power over any North Korean budget for the 25 years. All children in both Koreas must learn Chinese.

Why in the world would the US want to support NK at all, let alone for 25 years? Please. The US is not responsible for the actions of NK. Our leadership may have enabled it, but we did not direct or cause it. That is entirely on the shoulders of NK. If SK and China wish to help the North Korean population, that is up to them. Our only concern is if NK uses, or attempts to use nuclear weapons against the US or our interests. If they do, the problem of NK will disappear in a radioactive cloud.

Next people will be suggesting that we get the leadership of Mexico to abdicate and leave for Argentina and expect the US to support Mexico.

That will go straight to Kim Dung Donut Boys head, granddaddy and daddy couldn’t get a president to meet with them.

Of course, Kim Jong-un is committed to denuclearization, just like the Iranians said they were if the U.S. denuclearizes also.

There is no way NK is giving up their nuclear weapons, ICBMS or going into exil. They will drag out the negotiations while producing more ICBMs and nuclear warheads. After the have 100+ they will break off negotiation by demanding the USA leave Korea.

I find it interesting that a day after Trump announces that he is imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports that Kim suddenly decides to suspend all weapons testing and wants to talk to Trump. I wonder if the fact that a Chinese billionaire, Liu Zhongtian, has a million tons of aluminum ingots [6% of the world’s supply], worth ~$2 billion, sitting in Mexico possibly awaiting import into the US may have had any influence on that decision. If those ingots were destined for the US, Liu lost $200 million, initially. Then, the day after Kim asks for talks, Canada and Mexico are exempted from the tariffs for the remainder of the NAFTA negotiations. Liu regains his $200 million value, overnight. Hummm. Coincidence? Or might Liu have expressed his displeasure to the Chinese government who suggested that Kim stand down and ask for talks? We’ll probably never know. But, it is intriguing.
