#SchumerShutdown: House approves stopgap spending bill, now on to Senate

Senate Democrats say they have the votes to stop government funding.

The House of Representatives just approved a short term continuing spending bill to keep the government fully funded until mid-February.

The vote was 230-197. 11 Republicans voted no. 5 Democrats voted yes

It now moves on to the Senate, where Democrats say they have the votes to stop the funding, and at least in theory, shut the government.

So, the lefties in Congress and the media claim the potential shutdown is the Republican’s fault, but brag that they have the votes to make sure it happens. The irony….

    That’s not irony.

    That’s deceit.

    Fake oath-takers.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Now, think Schumer. Think Durban. Think Kerry. Think Kennedy. Think Flake. Think McCain. Think Obama. Think Klinton.

    Above all: keep thinking.

let them do it – the ads write themselves #ShootSelfInFoot.

Trump will show his Beitzem

It doesn’t bother me in the slightest if the government “shuts down” for six months. It’s amusing that Dems think this is some great fear for our side.

Why don’t R’s just pass a Budget bill under Reconciliation rules?

They’d only need 50 Senators to vote in favor, plus VP breaking the tie.

Because reconciliation for the “last” fiscal year has already been used up. Remember, the tax cuts? 51-49 vote. Wouldn’t mean anything except for the fact reconciliation was used. It cannot be used for 2017 business, even if that 2017 business has been allowed to stray into 2018, as is the case here.

Even if they could, remember: we’re dealing with GOPe rats with no allegiance to us whatsoever.

If they can profit personally, or profit for their corrupt buddies in the ‘Drain America’ club, or merely weaken Trump, they’ll act accordingly.

Until the cancer of mcconnell and his ilk is excised, we face both the left and their bitches in GOPe.

They could get rid of the filibuster for budget bills…

Lots of wheels in motion. State of the Union. FISA memo.

regulus arcturus | January 18, 2018 at 10:53 pm

This is a distraction.

FISA memo is exploding right now, and reports are it is legally devastating to FBI and DOJ, and Obama Administration Deep State actors.

Dems have to force this shutdown to distract from the incoming bomb.

Ignore shutdown theater, watch what happens with release of the FISA memo – wikileaks just offered $1 million for access, so they can release.

Popcorn time.

The executive branch has the power to demonstrate that the government isn’t closed. The last shutdown, Obama ordered all observable parts of the government to close: national parks, DC monuments. Trump will simply demonstrate the government is indeed still open and a “shutdown” is what it has always been: a political device to gain leverage.

All administrations have the authority to select *which* sections of government get shut down first. I suggest the Senatorial spa, hair cutting salon, weight room, heating system, elevator operators, etc…

Given the memo is in the hands of 500+ congressmen plus several times that again in support staff it’s only a matter of time before someone inadvertently leaves this on a bus or train or plane.

Now what would be REALLY interesting is if this memo was given to CNN or someone like that, who has been peddling fake news like it’s going out of business, and they turn around and say they didn’t print the story because of national security concerns.

why is anyone concerned about this theater?

Hey, people listen to jimmy kimmel for advice on health care, and jamie lee curtis about air raids.

A tad over half the nation is either simply ignorant (most of the group), corrupt (a LOT of the group – especially young people who have allowed themselves to be bought off cheaply) and/or are the minority of the group leading the sedition (soros, schumer, flake, klinton, obama, etc.)

I don’t know if the Senate voted or not. I turned the channel and watched a nature documentary on BBC America. But the last “news” I heard was that Lindsey Grahamnesty was going to vote with Democrats.

What a petulant weasel. He did not roll Trump with the DACA scheme he cooked up with Durbin and Flake, so he decides to vote with Democrats to stop the CR. I guess he thinks this will hurt the president.

I now think Grahamnesty was lying when he sorta backed up Durbin’s account of Trump’s sh!thole remark. Trump, Cotton, Purdue and the DHS Secretary all denied it. Durbin and Grahamnesty said it did. Neither one of those two can be trusted.

South Carolina voters: I know I’ve asked this before, but why oh why do you keep sending him back?

JusticeDelivered | January 19, 2018 at 12:19 pm

Go ahead, shutdown for as long as necessary to to break the back of illegal and ill considered immigration.
