Report: FBI “Failed to Preserve” Five Months of Anti-Trump Agents’ Text Messages

FBI cites its ineptitude with data-collection and storage technology

Last month, Kemberlee reported on the anti-Trump text messages between two FBI agents who were involved in the Trump-Russia investigation.  This month, we learn that the FBI “failed to preserve” five months’ worth of text messages between these same agents.

The Daily Caller reports:

The FBI “failed to preserve” five months worth of text messages exchanged between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the two FBI employees who made pro-Clinton and anti-Trump comments while working on the Clinton email and the Russia collusion investigations.

The disclosure was made Friday in a letter sent by the Justice Department to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC).

“The Department wants to bring to your attention that the FBI’s technical system for retaining text messages sent and received on FBI mobile devices failed to preserve text messages for Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page,” Stephen Boyd, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs at the Justice Department, wrote to Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of HSGAC.

He said that texts are missing for the period between Dec. 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017.

Boyd attributed the failure to “misconfiguration issues related to rollouts, provisioning, and software upgrades that conflicted with the FBI’s collection capabilities.”

“The result was that data that should have been automatically collected and retained for long-term storage and retrieval was not collected,” Boyd wrote.

Strzok and Page were significant players in the Clinton and Trump investigations. As deputy chief of counterintelligence, Strzok oversaw the Trump investigation when it was opened in July 2016. Weeks earlier, he had wrapped up his work as one of the top investigators on the Clinton email probe.

Both worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation until July 2017.

Accidental destruction of evidence? Who would have ever seen that coming?

Obama and Hillary, along with Holder, Lynch, Mueller, Comey, etc. etc. etc. (et al Dems) saw it coming!

What an amazing coincidence! The DOJ and FBI stonewall for months and now all those texts are missing? This is my shocked face. :-O

I know, right? It’s almost like they’re hiding something except we know they’re not because they’re the Professional Good Guys. Or something.

Where are the “journalists” demanding that mueller answer for this further stain on his witch-hunt against President Trump?

Where is rags demanding obstruction of justice charges against every obama official associated with this obvious scandal?

Where is loretta lynch defending her perfidy?

Everyone in the obama administration even remotely connected to this should have their passports revoked, lest they attempt to flee the country.

The stench from these revelations is overpowering.

Release the memo.

” This month, we learn that the FBI “failed to preserve” five months’ worth of text messages between these same agents. ”

May I call this collusion?

So let’s see… Kinda critical months missing. From a month after Trump is elected until just after Meuller is named a special prosecutor. From a very high up investigator who joined Mueller’s task force and we know was an ardent Hillary supporter and loathed Donald Trump.

I’m sure it’s a coincidence.

The FBI is as corrupt as it can be. They are also proven liars. I would think they just dumped the emails. The good news, however, is the CIA most assuredly has copies.

Sorry, I accidentally down voted you. My mistake and don’t know how to correct it.
Just wanted to add that if the CIA doesn’t, then perhaps Wikileaks can find those missing emails.

I agree with everything you said about the Department of F.I.B.

And these two are still federal employees, WHY…….

Prosecute whoever destroyed the emails, with a presumption of malice.

un-freaking-believable! Sheesh!
