Media Responses to Alleged Trump “Sh*thole” Comments are Why Everyone Hates the Media
Because it must be said again, this, dear media, is why everyone hates you.
During immigration legislation negotiations, Trump singled out Haiti, El Salvador, and a handful of African countries, describing them as “shitholes,” or so claimed the Washington Post.
Their bombshell intel came from people who were not in the meeting but later briefed on the contents of said meeting, making their source on par with a game of telephone.
The remarks as reported didn’t pass the smell test, but that didn’t stop the press from losing their minds and going into full-blown outrage mode.
CNN couldn’t get enough and almost seemed to enjoy the opportnity to say “shit” on air:
Politicians denounced Trump, Anderson Cooper cried, and no one thought to ask whether or not Trump actually said was the WaPo accused him of saying. Because in the age of confirmation bias as a substitution for facts, why bother?
Meanwhile, the rest of us are sitting at home wondering why any of this is so difficult to comprehend.
Can we agree Trump’s alleged lack of tact is might be uncouth, but is not racist? Both are simultaneously possible.

CBS this morning made the mistake of quoting the entire White House statement. No one except an unAmerican Democrat or the MSM could disagree with it. Merit based immigration, close the borders. No right to immigrate to America.

We all want people to come and CONTRIBUTE to the USA, we absolutely do not want them to come here, refuse to assimilate into our culture, not learn and use English, and suck on the public teat.

“Merit-based immigration” makes more sense if you differentiate “immigration” from “asylum”.
If someone needs political asylum — if their home country has become hostile to their racial or ethic background or political or religious beliefs to the point they are unsafe at home — then we can still take them in and provide safety.
This is a FAR cry from someone choosing to emigrate, say, for professional opportunities.
We can grant long-term asylum (which carries a recognized legal status under current immigration law) without granting citizenship or permanent residency. But if you want full citizenship — up to and including voting rights — then you should have something of lasting value to bring with you.
Separating asylum requests from immigration applications makes merit-based immigration much more reasonable.
So naturally, expect liberals and the MSM (but I repeat myself) to consistently conflate them.

I’m sorry, but I think the biggest issue here is “Who cares?” Yes, the usual TDS sufferers will have the usual aneurysms. And some may even choose to debate whether/what the President said. At the end of the day, though, most rational humans will agree that those places to which he may or may not have referred, Haiti included, are indeed sh*tholes, although many of us might not choose to use that language. Most normal people “get” Pres. Trump and they understand what he is saying. This continual insanity from the media is only advancing his cause, in my opinion.
I’m not going to comment on what Trump said or didn’t say, but Haiti is, objectively, not a nice place to live. They still have not recovered from the earthquake; income per capita is less than 1/10 other Latin/Caribbean nations (50% of the population lives on less than $2 per day, 25% on less than $1.25); crime, disease, starvation, and infant mortality rates are much higher than most nations; three-quarters of kids won’t finish school (60% don’t progress past sixth grade); and their government is unable or unwilling to help the people.
It’s not just about the earthquake, either. The Dominican Republic — which as a reminder is the other end of the same island — has a pretty normal standard of living across all criteria, however you want to measure it. We get far fewer people trying to emigrate from DR than from Haiti.
The “s***hole” language may have been unnecessarily vulgar (whether or not it applied to Haiti), but the thrust of the comment — that the people emigrate to the U.S. to escape living conditions FAR worse than we will EVER see here — is spot on, and it’s not racist to point out how crappy conditions make people want to leave for somewhere better.

Trump should own his “shitholes” comment and double down on it by explaining the Marxists’ Clower-Piven strategy to “fundamentally transform America”, talking about population growth over the last 100 years, the number of citizens on transfer programs, the number of legal immigrants on the public dole and their striking propensity to take them under the current rules, pointing out that we don’t need more uneducated, unskilled workers to compete with citizens in the same situation, and that there is a much better alternative.
The much better alternative is a superstar immigration policy. The US could research and recruit around 10,000 stars around the world that are capable of supporting themselves and their families, and allow them to bring family. So you might have 10,000 primaries and up to 100,000 +/- secondaries, and none of the going on welfare, etc. He should challenge the public to imagine the benefits of an immigration system like that over the course of a decade, two decades, and three.
