Oh man, did I miss Obama’s Peak Straw Man?

Oh man, did I miss Obama’s Peak Straw Man?

Today is a travel and meeting day for me.

So imagine my consternation to read the comment in the Tip Line from commenter Ragspierre, linking to a National Review post, about Obama’s West Point speech today:

Have we reached peak strawman…???

I have been an Obama straw man afficionado for years.

Did I miss peak straw man today?

The full speech is here.  Here’s an excerpt:

(As his tears fall on the keyboard) Yeah, looks like I missed peak straw man.

No, the point is not that America doesn’t lead, no-one else will. (That’s what the paelos and libertarians believe.) The problem is that someone else in fact will.

But of course, to Obama that’s not a problem.

The worst part of this speech is that he told our enemies that they could continue their aggression and we wouldn’t oppose them because we haven’t signed the law of the sea treaty.

Peak Strawman? Is he any relation to Jeff Strongman?

Wait am minute. Doesn’t Syria have another neighbor? The one they tried to exterminate in 1948? The one who capital the State Department won’t recognize?

Then again, its probably best Obama forgets we’re here.

You didn’t miss it……you just waited for it to ripen, mature, ferment. Or, perhaps, moulder.

Safe travels!

Don’t you just hate those advocating the strategy that we invade every country harboring terrorist networks! They really get my goat.

gregjgrose in reply to Humphrey's Executor. | May 28, 2014 at 4:17 pm

Especially stupid when we know that landlocked countries like Afghanistan HAVE NO HARBORS!

Or when you consider all the Domestic Terrorists, such as the Tea Party raaacciiists, that are right here at home. What are we going to do, invade ourselves?

Icy West Pointers? PRIVILEGED WHITE RACISTS.

Ragspierre in reply to Leslie Eastman. | May 28, 2014 at 7:59 pm

I’m shocked…SHOCKED…that a bunch of courageous young people, steeped in “duty, honor, country” and understanding leadership, would give an “icy reception” to an obvious liar telling them how he believes in American exceptionalism…really, really lots.

I bet several of those great kids had to go in for new springs on their BS-0-meters right after the ceremony…

Obama’s spoken words are a great reminder of another time, not so many long years ago, when someone said, while discussing a political opponent’s statement: “Words, just words!”

Yep, that guy was correct back then, and especially his then inference that those words had little meaning.

life is too short to listen to Bam-Bam blathering… even the excerpts.

The parental comments on the USMA FB page while watching the ceremony are a hoot. https://www.facebook.com/WestPointUSMA

The biggest insult to our young officers was their CinC saying we need to ensure we exercise “might with right” as if that were some new idea.

Whoever said Obama is some Sooper Genius needs to prove it. I’ve yet to see three consecutive intelligent sentences from the man. His first book (the one he wrote himself) is the stuff of undergrads who need remedial English Comp. He authored no scholarly articles – ever, even though he was President of Law Review at Harvard and a ConLaw lecturer at Chicago for 14 years.

Some intellect!

Yep, Crimea in the role of the Rhineland or maybe it’s more a case of the Frog and the Scorpion!

Neither reading makes one feel good or pleased with the likely end result.

What did you expect from the wanna be dictator? And he supposedly taught Constitutional Law? Smartest man evah!

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/may/23/obama-blames-structural-design-congress-gridlock/

President Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the “disadvantage” of having each state represented equally in the Senate.
———–
“Obviously, the nature of the Senate means that California has the same number of Senate seats as Wyoming. That puts us at a disadvantage,” Mr. Obama said.

Obama essentially insulted a superior group of young Americans who understand to the core the principles of bravery, leadership, and patriotism. Those vacuous words of B.O. so clearly indicated he doesn’t have a clue – about West Point – about securing the United States – about preserving an international force.

“the strategy of invading every country that harbors terrorist networks is naive and unsustainable”. yes of course, if this was what was required he would have to invade the UK at the very least. How about supporting and empowering countries like Israel that actually stand up to terrorism Mr President!

The US Army is to be a state-sponsored NGO-like welfare agency (MOOTW). We don’t need an army now, really. We are better than that now. New century, new smarter thinking, people.. One world government, us, universal taxation. Anyone who thinks this gang will quit the White House in 2017 is flat-lining.
