We’ve delved the depths of the despicable Boycott Divest Sanction movement against Israel.
We are dealing with real bottom-feeders who have worked their ways onto campuses almost everywhere, supported by vicious people like George Galloway.
Given the sordid history of Leftist-Islamist anti-Israel campus agitation, particularly in Britain, everyone expected the worst when a vote was put to the Oxford student union demanding that it join the BDS movement.
Shock among Shock, they did the right thing, via Times of Israel, Oxford students overwhelmingly vote down Israel boycott:
The Oxford University Student Union voted decisively Wednesday night to reject a motion backing a boycott of Israel, by a margin of 7:1.
The final vote showed 69 against, 10 in favor and 15 abstentions.
Had it passed, the motion would have committed the student union to advocate for a Boycott Divestment Sanctions campaign at the annual conference of the National Union of Students, the umbrella body for student unions at UK universities, which takes place in March.
It would not have committed the university itself, or its students, to implementing a boycott.
Despite the success at Oxford, it seems likely that a BDS motion will still be on the agenda of the NUS conference next month. Oxford students told The Times of Israel that an identical motion was distributed by the BDS movement to other universities, although it is unclear how many are going to debate it.

A representative of Brasenose College, Eylon Aslan-Levy, said, “Tonight Oxford students showed that their commitment to intellectual freedom is unshakeable. In rejecting calls for a boycott against Israel by a seven-to-one margin, we demonstrated resoundingly that we want Oxford to continue to cooperate with Israeli academics, trade with Israeli businesses and – yes – debate with Israelis in debating societies.”
Aslan-Levy was in the news earlier this week. He was slated to present the opposing side in a debate the topic of which was, “Israel should withdraw immediately from the West Bank.” When he began his response, his opponent, British member of parliament George Galloway, stormed out of the room upon learning Aslan-Levy is Israeli.
It’s not over, of course. It never is with these people.

Not true, once they get an outcome suitable to their position then all discussion, much less voting is over.

His eyes fill with the tears of 1,000 mute and exhausted BDS singer-dancers performing a Milli-Vanilli number to a broken record.
Those were the days.
Good for the Oxford students, who, I would bet, were appalled by the execrable Gallowsway.
Without his little display, the vote might have been closer.
Believe it or not, there is actually a Conservative Club (the Oxford Central Conservative Club) just down New Road from Oxford Castle and right near St. Peter’s College, just off from the main Oxford Campus. I stopped by and visited with them briefly in 2007 while I was at Oxford’s St. Peters College studying International IP Law.
That being known, it does not surprise me that the BDS movement was defeated so soundly. I am somewhat disturbed by the fact that 15 members of the Oxford University Student Union saw fit to abstain rather than take a position.
Perhaps the abstentions were due to lack of information in order to make an informed choice, rather than a commitment to being non-commital?
It never is over indeed. When they achieve their aim, they push on to seek more destruction until only they are left standing.
