Saturday Night Card Game (Colorlines and The Root accuse Marco Rubio of promoting racism)

Saturday Night Card Game (Colorlines and The Root accuse Marco Rubio of promoting racism)

How low will left-wing organizations go in demonizing Marco Rubio?

Don’t tell me WATER.

WATER is nothing compared to this hit on Rubio at Colorlines, the left-wing activist group previously featured on the Saturday Night Card Game for its claims that the term “illegal alien” was racist.

An author at Colorlines announced that Marco Rubio’s task was to make Republican racism palatable to Latinos:

Colorlines Marco Rubio make racism palatable to latinos

Yup, that’s why the Tea Party launched Marco’s career, Florida voters elected him, and he’s one of the rising stars in the Republican Party, to make Republican racism palatable to Latinos.  Once you define things like limited government, fiscal responsbility, respect for immigration laws and everything else you disagree with as “racist,” then the race card play falls so easily on the table.

The Root re-ran the Colorlines article, and made the headline even worse, accusing Rubio of promoting racism:

The Root Marco Rubio racism

“There is no floor beneath which the race card players will not go.” Yes there is. It’s called the gutter. That’s where they like to play their games.

‘Racism’ is the last straw for the intellectually bankrupt. But because the race card still works for some they believe if they just yell loud enough some fool might yield.

It really must be a diminished life to constantly lower oneself to victim status just because they can’t make a real argument.

They seem to go below the gutter and directly into the sewer.

Exlusive photographic evidence for Legal Insurrection that the Left will go after Rubio no matter what he says or does from now on:

Neither Latino nor Hispanic are races. Hispanics and/or Latinos can be of any race.

When someone tries to characterize Hispanics as a separate race they are usually referring to Mestizos and are ignoring the diversity (see, I got that prize liberal dog whistle in there) that makes up the ethnicity. They are obviously blind racists who refuse to celebrate the diversity (again) of the rich cultural fabric that makes up the Hispanic experience.

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to Anchovy. | February 16, 2013 at 10:53 pm

    Okay, let’s get this straight…

A Latino of mestizo origin is the genesis of this whole “race thing”. A mestizo is a person of mixed European and indigenous American ancestry, right? Maybe we can say, Spanish and Indian, because some the former also had some Moorish blood thrown in.

So, based on that definition, we have a lot of clinical “mestizos” that are Irish and American Indian, like me.

To elaborate… Most of my Irish ancestors came from County Donegal, where many survivors of the Spanish Armada shipwrecks were rescued and blended with the local population. These fellows, not being very high on the social ladder, probably over represented the ‘swarthy’ people of the Mediterranean coast, hence the term Black Irish. So, when these Irish married into the Indians of the American west, the result was the same mestizo offspring.

I guess I need to get me a victim card, huh? “Hey! I want my utility bills written in Gaelic or Choctaw!”

Seriously, this just proves how stupid racial identity politics is. In fact, if an Irishman, a Chinese and a Belgian all enter the country illegally, doesn’t illegal refer to their status, instead of their race? Aren’t the people who cry “racism” really stereotyping all illegals as Hispanic, and vice versa?

casualobserver in reply to Anchovy. | February 17, 2013 at 10:47 am

Facts on ethnicity and genetic origin don’t matter when you use something to make a political point. Just my viewpoint, but since one aim of progressive ‘activism’ is to force equality through law and regulation, a necessary tactic is to define groups/collections of people that you can measure. You may define one group as powerful, wealthy, etc., on average. And another group as oppressed by some or many of the same measures. Your goal is then to take power, wealth, etc., from one and give it to the other.

Racism seems to be applied less in the ‘dictionary’ sense by those who believe. It has now simply become a term for a collective of somehow oppressed people (by the progressive definition) whose subjugation they look to link to the actions or existence of the powerful/wealthy, etc. That is the reason they would never apply the term ‘racism’ to actions critical of Rubio. They place him in the power/wealth group regardless of ethnicity or genetic heritage.

They are slowly redefining the political context of the word. Or trying to, at least.

See, this is just funny!

Conservatives do not support any outfit call “The Race” (La Raza), or the NAAWP.

We adhere to the ideal of MLK…a color-blind society where all are treated equally under the law, and where merit is rewarded by naturally occurring mechanisms like market forces.

We understand that illegal aliens come in all colors, and from any ethic root you could name.

And we WANT immigrants to come to America…legally. WE want them to come here to become part of our society, and we don’t give a flying fluck what color their skin is. What matters is their desire to join us.

    Rags,

You wouldn’t have believed how hard it was to get my wife and baby daughter over here legally.

It’s not like it was a green-card paper marriage as she was coming from an economically advanced country with almost no unemployment to speak of at the time (Japan).

And, having a baby would seem to make it a legit marriage, too, no?

But the American Embassy in Japan was an absolute bitch to deal with and it was months before I could get them over here.

Should’ve had them fly to Mexico and sneak over the border.

Ragspierre in reply to LukeHandCool. | February 16, 2013 at 7:35 pm

But of course! Immigration is a Federal mare’s nest, as you would expect. The same people who brought you the tax code (do NOT get me started…).

One of the basic reforms that has to be undertaken is to de-kludge (that is a technical legal term) our LEGAL immigration system.

Again, Conservatives have no desire to keep America “pure”. That has been a Progressive theme WAY back. We want…and expect…the “hybrid vigor” that comes with a healthy level of immigration bringing in people who share our values.

LukeHandCool in reply to Ragspierre. | February 16, 2013 at 7:54 pm

        Well said.

My wife and little brown babies have more love for America in their brown pinkies than a village full of pasty white, latte-sipping, lefty hipsters.

LukeHandCool (who, speaking of pinkies, when bragging about his tan after a day at the beach, was told by his first born, “Daddy … you’re pink.” And who stuck out like a sore thumb being the only white guy at the immigration office downtown one day with his wife for one of a seemingly never ending series of steps to get her green card. When Luke approached the little bureaucrat on a power trip who he’d been dealing with … after hours had gone by and Luke and his wife were just about the only people left … Luke asked how much longer they’d have to wait and was told by the little witch, “You’re done. We’ll send her fingerprints to Washington D.C.” Luke (irritated because he’d been sitting in front of this woman for hours and she knew he didn’t know he was done for the day): “Well, how long until we hear something?” Little witch: “Washington D.C. is far away. It’ll take some time.”

Luke wanted to ask, “Are you sending her fingerprints to D.C. by Pony Express?” but he knew the little bureaucrat witch’s mindset would see such cheekiness as justification to throw his wife’s application in the trash.

Ragspierre in reply to LukeHandCool. | February 16, 2013 at 8:15 pm

          I’ve related this before, but…

my children very soberly informed me that we were not “white”.

We are “peach”…according to the infallible authority Crayola.

          Beyond reproach.

Won’t it be fun when little teat-suckers like that run healthcare too?

Ragspierre in reply to LukeHandCool. | February 17, 2013 at 5:54 am

Oh, and there is this, too…

Mexicans can be some of the MOST racially prejudiced people you will ever meet.

Some of the most disdainful of the poor, too.

In my limited experience with Central and South Americans, the same observations were true.

Bruno Lesky in reply to Ragspierre. | February 16, 2013 at 8:43 pm

I would guess that you would add other stuff including learn English and understand the principles of America’s founding and abide by the laws of the land

As I posted in reply to n.n. below, I don’t support illegal immigration. I’m all in for immigration.

I couldn’t tell from your post whether or not you support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. What’s your thinking?

TrooperJohnSmith in reply to Bruno Lesky. | February 16, 2013 at 11:05 pm

Why learn English? You can live in America and watch Spanish TV, read Spanish newspapers, listen to Spanish radio, get your cash from Spanish speaking ATMs, check out in a Spanish self-checkout line and have all your utility bills in Spanish. You can get your hometown puebla news in Spanish from the Internet, talk to any number of phone-bots in Spanish, pay your taxes using a Spanish form 1040, vote for free shit in Spanish and have all your medical paperwork done in Spanish. If you get in trouble with the law, we’ll Mirandize you in Spanish, indict and try you in Spanish, and while you’re in the joint, the guards will talk to you in Spanish. You can go to church in Spanish, buy a car in Spanish, bank in Spanish and go to any number of Spanish-speaking entertainment venues. In fact, the local lending library will even order you books and perodicos in Spanish. We’ll even kiss your ass in Spanish and apologize in Spanish for any language inconvenience you might have, so as not to offend you.

So, why the hell do you even bother to learn English? If it’s a condition for Amnesty, it will be just another Federal program to hustle and cheat.

My only criticism of the term “illegal alien”, is not that it does not accurately describe that status of these people, but that it obfuscates the greater problem: violence, corruption, and displacement in other places, principally Mexico.

The people who support and defend unmeasured immigration, including illegal immigration, not only ignore that American men, women, and children are displaced at work, school, and throughout society, but they also ignore the motivation and incentive for aliens to enter this nation illegally. They do not care that our market is unpredictably distorted by their presence, typically through cost shifting, which among other things, means that the cost of our health care will be higher than it would be otherwise.

The people who support and defend unmeasured immigration, especially illegal immigration, do not care about the conditions in other places, principally Mexico. They do not care about the violence committed by organized criminal syndicates. They do not care about the corruption of public authorities, including our federal government which arms the first group of criminals. They do not care that these people are displaced from their land, prevented from growing food, tending livestock, and earning a living, by, among other causes, well intentioned but fanatical environmental policies.

This is not about prejudice. It is about individuals, cooperatives, and civil servants who cause harm to Americans and foreign nationals, both intentionally and through negligence. It is about obfuscating and therefore supporting the conditions which motivates around one million men, women, and children to leave their homes and illegally enter another nation. It is about the displacement of men, women, and children in the other nation. It is about subsidizing and corrupting people who are displaced.

The civil servants, and the so-called human and civil “rights” businesses, need to take a step back and reevaluate their ignorance and opportunistic indignation. Both serve to harm the people in this nation and around the world.

That said, I am especially fond of the selective deportation of criminal illegal aliens. Perhaps the intention is to establish Mexico as a de facto penal colony. Now that is racist and extraordinarily corrupt.

Bruno Lesky in reply to n.n. | February 16, 2013 at 8:30 pm

I find this reflection profound — have never read concern for the state of emigrant nations … except for the remittance situation, and this in the context of how remittances harm the U.S.

I understand, I think, the why of political campaigns for citizenship (by various paths) for illegal immigrants.

Myself, I don’t think illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship. Through screening and steps, they can remain here legally and acculturate and gain wealth through productive means. But not vote. I haven’t thought through all the conditions, but perhaps they would not be eligible for various welfare programs + maybe have some opt-out advantages (that the rest of us regulars don’t enjoy).

As the law is now that people born here are automatically citizens, I would approve of following that law but think it would be good to change it.

Most national politicians can’t see much past their next election. It is beyond their mental and moral capacities to expect the extension of conscience beyond America’s border. (Not that you are expecting that … just explaining as I read your post.)

I cannot care for all people. However, as I care for individual people, I recognize the limitations imposed by nature, and the challenges created by individuals, each of whom may not share the same dream.

A nation, at its most practical, is an administrative district. It serves to partition natural resources and people for the purpose of maintaining a sustainable state.

One more thing, the issue of overpopulation has been mischaracterized. While the consequences of overpopulation are attributed to an unsustainable state, it is principally a matter of risk (and resource) management. It is an emergent problem which is addressed through partitioning and measured exchanges. It is an issue of unbridled liberty when men and women are incapable of self-moderating behavior.

Incidentally, the conservative philosophy advocates for mitigation through promotion of self-moderating behavior. It’s not perfect, but that is a consequence of imperfect knowledge and action. In the end, we compromise with the presumption of innocence and intention, because we respect individual dignity.

I may add more later, but that’s where the conversation should begin.

I observe exhibitions of legerdemain, and must conclude that since the causes are not being addressed, there are ulterior motives which guide the deception. The historical motives are to advance political, economic, and social standing. The means are to exploit individual dreams of material, physical, and ego instant (or immediate) gratification, or through emotional appeals and extortion.

Perhaps they are all lying. I don’t know. I do know that some deceptions are easier to expose than others. Treating symptoms while ignoring causes is a sure indicator of an unstated agenda, unless there is full disclosure. The latter has not happened, so I can safely assume that the ulterior motives are not virtuous.

    TrooperJohnSmith in reply to n.n. | February 16, 2013 at 11:15 pm

    Brilliant post!

I’ll add that the Mexican Revolution was never really brought to a conclusion in the early 20th Century. It just sort of stopped, with the rise of the PRI. Soft tyranny was seen and being better than the constant internecine strife of their ugly revolution.

Thus, the porous US border has always acted as a safety valve for Mexico’s discontents and displaced. If we close down the border, the way it should be, Mexico will have a final act to its revolution, or it will have to deal with its social and economic problems once and for all.

They will be forced to confront their corruption and we will be forced to confront the people who promote and defend it. There is a reason why men and women seek to escape reality through consumption of psychotropic drugs. The cause will not be recognized or resolved while we focus on treating symptoms. There is a reason why we have illegal aliens doing the work that Americans will not do or are prevented from doing. The outcome of which is to corrupt Americans, both benefactors and beneficiaries, both in the public and private sectors.

In line with your observation, I will add: It is dissociation of risk which causes corruption. It is dreams of instant (or immediate) material, physical, and ego gratification which motivates its progress.

Bruno Lesky in reply to n.n. | February 17, 2013 at 11:11 pm

Just read Mark Steyn’s latest essay in National Review. He concurs:

“Washington has settled into a comfortable pattern: instant gratification for spending binges that do nothing for any of the problems they purport to be solving assuaged by meaningless commitments to start the twelve-step program next year, or next decade, or next century. No other big spender among the advanced democracies lies to itself about the gulf between its appetites and its self-discipline.”

Dear Seth freed wrestler, stop buggering little boys.

Of course there isn’t a floor. These scumbags need to make a living, and that industry that they make a living in is called the race baiting industry.

They will do this because their livelihood depends on it.

An author at Colorlines announced that Marco Rubio’s task was to make Republican racism palatable to Latinos

Of course. We see this repeatedly at LI.

The Left preempts its misdeeds by accusing the Right of them.

If most of the people crossing the border illegally had degrees in journalism and were willing to work for $7 an hour, you can bet the main stream media would have a different take on this issue.

What does La Raza have to say about this outrage?

“An author at Colorlines announced that Marco Rubio’s task was to make Republican racism palatable to Latinos:

Colorlines Marco Rubio make racism palatable to latinos”

I thought we had the Nixon White House to thank for “Hispanic”. Isn’t “Latino” so 1960’s?

I commented to my high school students that one reason why Western Culture dominated others was that we were more efficient at killing than the others. One young man, who is officially Hispanic, but is whiter than I am, said, “That isn’t something you need to be proud about.” When I reminded him that since he was Hispanic, he was of Spanish descent, and yes, he is part of that dominating Western Culture. I’m pretty sure he previously hadn’t thought of himself as being of European descent.

The Left is very, very afraid of Rubio:

1. Bill Clinton saw the Rubio threat to his bride’s presidential hopes at the time Rubio was running for Senate, so Bill tried to get the Democrat, Kendrick Meek, to bow out of the race in favor of former Republican Charlie Crist. You can bet that Bill and the Queen of Benghazi have all their operatives out attacking Rubio now and will do so for the next three years.

2. Van Jones, who, although a Red, is very intelligent and willing to contradict the typical Obama-braindead-blather, told the truth in his review of Rubio’s speech last week. The Florida Republican poses a “dangerous” political threat to Democrats because of his keen ability to emotionally connect with voters, Jones said.

BTW, the idea that Obama is a great speaker is a stale Leftist myth. Barry is cold as a fish. He actually stutters if he’s without his teleprompter. The real Barry is the deer-in-the-headlights guy who showed up for the first debate (I guess he forgot to take whatever stimulant keeps him going). And his Imam-fingerpointing has to be a turn-off to the average, non-Left-ideologic voter. Dr. Benjamin Carson is an engaging speaker. Rubio is a fairly polished speaker who can connect with an audience. Barry is just a Leftist wetdream: what liberal elites imagine their ideal black candidate would be — like them, but just a bit black.

I would only add that the only times Obama can speak without a stutter and off-the-cuff is when he talks about what he truly believes. In other words, Obama can speak lucidly and extemporaneously is when he preaches his message of pure Marxist-socialism. He stutters in front of mikes filter out what he truly believes for the message-of-the-day. Obama is a conundrum, one I hope we never have to unravel.

and Dr. Benjamin Carson to them is…..

I sure wish someone would single out one of these bloggers, investigate them and make their life a living hell and destroy them as an example to others. The next one would not be so quick to attack if he thought he might be the next project.

As we have seen with Palin, a coordinated campaign of harassment can be effective, so why aren’t these slime sycophants marked for that? I know they are not government officials so ethics complaints are off the table. However, they MUST have violated some law or committed some tort and can be brought to account in a very expensive court of justice or at least in the court of public opinion.

I’ll bet they would not like their cell phone numbers published–not that I am urging that of course.

Squeamish? Don’t be. These people are not innocents. They are malicious termites eating away at the core of America’s foundations.

If the Left didn’t have the death-grip hold over the legacy media, I would say this is a compliment to Marco Rubio in that the more hyperbolic the Left is, the more effective a messenger – and probable candidate – for conservatism the more the Left will hate – and attack – such a person for said effectiveness.

Why else would they push the water meme? Because they didn’t want the American people to focus on Marco Rubio’s message!

But it is a problem because of the influence the Left in the legacy media. The only way to counter is it to engage every attack and refute it every time these lies and smears come.

Maybe our most righteous President will ride to his rescue (as Obama did to that silly woman student who can’t buy her own contraceptives and, of course, to Trevon): “If I had a half-brother who was half-Cuban/American, he could look a lot like Marco . . . .”

Somehow, I think it more likely that Obama would say: “If I had an American half-brother, he could look a lot like Charles Dorner.”

In case I haven’t made it clear (or, as Obama would say, “let me be very clear”), I think that Obama’s Travon comment is one of the most pernicious since Ted Kennedy (the Seal Lion of Chappaquiddick) talked about “Bork’s America.” And that’s saying a lot.

Why am I not surprised that a rag named “Colorlines” used the race (based on color) card?

Seems to me if you go out of your way to look for racism, while making it a point of your ‘zine, that you tend to find it anywhere you look.

How DARE the Republican party — the party of old rich white corporatist ipso facto racist patriarchists — have any members who are not. It’s a trick! These make-believe journalists should put “ADVERTISEMENT” at the top of everything they write.
