In a soon-to-be-released interview with The New Republic, President Obama reportedly laments the negative influence Fox News and Rush Limbaugh can have on the congressional debate over various pieces of legislation.

The president told TNR editor Frank Foer and owner Chris Hughes that “One of the biggest factors is going to be how the media shapes debates.”

The media can either help break or uphold partisan gridlock, the president said, adding that “If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it.”

The president also conceded that “[t]he same dynamic happens on the Democratic side,” but in his mind, “the difference is just that the more left-leaning media outlets recognize that compromise is not a dirty word.”

What a scumbag. Princess barry should spend more time with an English dictionary and less time demonizing people who disagree with him.

I’m glad Kirsten didn’t fall for the false moral equivalency nonsense that bsNBC and Fox on simply the two ends of the media bell-curve.

They are not, remotely, comparable.

Of course the left-leaning media “recognize that compromise {by Republicans} is not a dirty word.” To them, it’s compromise by Democrats that is blasphemy.

This is the third time in recent memory that Powers has denigrated liberal media for bias. Has the liberal backlash against her begun yet?

“…the more left-leaning media outlets recognize that compromise is not a dirty word.”

Yea, so far left-leaning they’ve toppled over. Allen West tweeted that CBS is now a propaganda wing of the White House. Yup, that’s right. But of course he’ll be vilified for using the “P” word.

t is not the job of the media to shape debate. Their job is to report the facts. And Rush is not media, he is opinion and entertainment.

It amazing to me that we are even in the game! Nine outta ten media outlets, entertainers and academic types are in the tank for the Sainted One! Mitt got 47% of the vote with the deck totally stacked in Obama’s favor!

Democrats are interviewed, Republicans are interrogated. In the real world, Dick Gregory would say “Tonight I am going to interview president Obama”, or, “Tonight I am going to interrogate Senator Rubio”. There is a difference in the way each is handled and it should be called what it is.

Holy crap, David Gregory!

Huh? I thought they were shooting skeet all the time. Clay pigeons. With photos of Rush and FOX anchors on them. Tone!

      As Michelle said,

“Barack Obama will lead by example and require that he himself come out of his isolation, that he move out of his comfort zones. Barack will never allow himself to go back to his life as usual, uninformed, unshooting.”

The broad highway of compromise pointed to by the Divider-In-Chief looks to be the road to perdition. I’ll stick to the straight and narrow.

Wow, what has happened to Kirsten Powers? I used to want to slap her every time I saw her but she’s actually making sense half the time now! Maybe she’ll jump ship soon?

    Take your pick:

    1) She’s seeing things more clearly now that she’s outside the liberal bubble.

    2) She’s been poisoned by her proximity to FOX newspeople, like what happened in reverse to ‘conservative’ Joe Scarborough at MSNBC.

LukeHandCool in reply to Henry Hawkins. | January 28, 2013 at 2:15 pm

I can’t remember where, but I recently heard her say that by working at FOX she’s been forced to leave her liberal bubble and engage with conservatives, and she’s found to her surprise that conservatives are more open to hearing opposing ideas than liberals … that liberals presume all correct-thinking people agree with them and are taken aback when someone voices an opposing viewpoint in their midst.

This individual needs to be gone. How, I really don’t give a damn! He IS a bigger threat to this nation, then the islamists are, repetitive, I know..

Think Boehner will lead impeachment procedures?

Uh-Huh. Yep. Sure.

““the difference is just that the more left-leaning media outlets recognize that compromise is not a dirty word.”

I must have missed something, as I do not remember ANYONE (let alone POTUS) on the Left admitting that the media that supports them is biased. They just rail against Fox, while proclaiming all others as objective.

Obama should tie a blue bow around the BS he dumps every time he speaks. Oh wait. That is what he *is* doing. Never mind. Move along… move along… nothing out of the ordinary to smell here… just bow-tied Obama BS.
