The insurrection continues as black activist calls Jackson family traitors

Bringing you another tale of citizen insurrection on the streets of Chicago, after our city, the most gun-controlled in the nation, ended the year with 532 murders. This time, at a meeting to discuss housing foreclosures and the corrupt system of redevelopment contracts, local grassroots activist Mack Glover said that Alderman Sandi Jackson “is a traitor to our community, and her family is traitors to our community, Jesse is a traitor to our community…she’s a traitor and she needs to be in jail, with her husband [Jesse Jackson, Jr.].”

Glover continued, “My problem is not against white in power, my problem is against our people in power…” and expressed his anger that all contracts to redevelop properties in his neighborhood are given to white developers. Sandi Jackson, who ushered through the ok of the contract, and who is the wife of former Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., has been helping to grease the wheels of corruption through her position, as he sees it.

Of course, there ought to be no race involved in the selection of contracts whatsoever, but Glover is understandably upset at seeing his besieged community, desperate for jobs, being used as a game board for Rahm Emanuel’s democratic machine, the Jackson family, and their cronies to distribute properties and contracts to their cronies. This was why the Broke Party, the name for the movement from within their community to restore economic growth, demonstrated outside the ABC 7 studios against an Obama/Emanuel fundraiser and were ignored by that network.

The game goes something like this. The city, often (if not always) for dubious reasons, condemns a property, then hands out the redevelopment contract. Unions with workers from outside the city come in to redevelop the project. The unions then return the favor through supporting the black leadership in their elections.

What underlies Glover’s outrage is the union-government relationship, and the apparent racism the union operatives are exercising along the way (they say the unions shy away from hiring black workers). Along the way Glover and his fellow community members end up ruled by black Democratic leadership as if they were serfs and not citizens.

Some commenters on this site have questioned the philosophy of these insurrectionists, suggesting that it hasn’t embraced all of the same tenets of conservatism that might make it align more perfectly with other political insurrections in our country. That Glover and others like him would be well-served to seek out the thinking of Thomas Sowell, Mia Love, and the like.

It seems as though these activists are at a crucial stage, as they awaken to rejecting the Democratic party itself. I worry that they reject the party establishment but retain some of the politics of division that same party has so aptly indoctrinated into our society. And the Republicans shouldn’t congratulate themselves from being left off the hook. They have failed to present a viable alternative to the stranglehold of the Democratic machine in these areas.

Because the awakening is at the beginning stages, rather than wish they’d seek out Sowell, I think it is most fruitful to encourage those Sowells already amongst them. Listening to activist Paul McKinley and others voice their frustration doesn’t sound so different from Thomas Paine and his Common Sense calls for freedom. Thomas Sowell would offer much to them, but perhaps not right now. Right now they need leaders from their ranks to lead the charge.

But they also need support.

Some LI commenters have taken the same view as local tea parties in the area, saying “you’d march with them.” In 2013, our year of Insurrection, we ought to seek out the allies and support them as they join us in the most unifying, human cry for freedom. The implosion of the farce that is the Jackson family is in many ways similar to the realization of how hollow the shell is that is the Republican establishment. Let’s reach out a hand to another group that is resisting the political class and its accompanying stranglehold over freedom and prosperity.

There has been a unique connection between conservatives and the grassroots Broke Party movement to break away from the Democratic machine in Chicago. They are not the same in all respects, but they are fighting the establishment together from the common ground I just described. Spread the word about the Broke Party and help their movement grow from defiance to full, American insurrection.

I have always wondered why our black brothers blindly followed the folly of the Democrats and their policy of race hustling.

Why “march” with someone who is more concerned with getting their cut of the graft than in ending the graft?

The answer to your question is that it’s the same reason they voted for obastard. He’s black, he’s prominent, and he tells them they’re not responsible for themselves, their behavior or their futures because once upon a time they had an ancestor who may have been a slave.

I’ll march with them. All I need is dates & times.

532 ? …..Christ Dec 28’th I saw the headline 500 murders in Chicago so far this year …. how did they run up another 32 bodies in just 3 days ….end of year festivities take there toll ?

I think the numbers roll over so fast there that they just round them off most of the time. Who can keep count of corpses when you spend all your time praising the restrictive gun laws.

Of course, it isn’t like Mr. Glover and his supporters would actually vote Republican in the special election coming up.

No, they’ll only stray but so far off the plantation.

I propose the Detroit solution to Chicago’s problem. Pack your bags, be an American, vote with your feet!

Move to North Dakota where unemployment is 2.5%. If being self sustaining by being employed is the underlying issue of equality, then stop depending on corrupt politicians to give you equality. Isn’t that the complaint of the Broke Party? No hiring within the community to be serviced?

Equality can not be given it can only be exercised. If Equality could be given then those who gave it have the power to take it when they please for their own profit. America was founded upon the principle self determination, start applying the principle and get what you want. Only a lazy person demands equality without exercising personal responsibility for the outcome.

re: “Move to North Dakota where unemployment is 2.5%.”

Stay the hell out of North Dakota, we have our plates full of whiners and deadbeats already! If you have skills, that’s one thing – if all you have is a noxious whine and a need for food stamps, then stay home.

Also, by-the-way, furthermore, etc. I was living in the Seattle area during the 1970-1990’s. In the early 80s there was a major out-flow of people from California due to the gang warfare of the Bloods&Crips. Seattle at the time was a nice quiet city with reasonably quiet neighborhoods – but things changed.

Immigrants might flee their home environs for good reason, but they ALWAYS bring their attitudes with them! You can bet with 100% certainty that this will happen with a big outflow from Chicago. They need to stay home and FIX the problem.

Would you be shocked to notice that’s exactly what’s been going on since the Civil Rights Act?

It’s time people faced the truth about it.

In Detroit the corruption trial for the previous mayor goes on and on. The street lights are out, the police can’t control the violence, the schools don’t teach, and the unios don’t care. The cynicism of union retirees — black and white — is breathtaking. The Broke Party is news to me and that goes to the deeply compromised press across the nation, particularly in the cities, Detroit, Chicago, Pontiac,Boston, New York (where I used to live as well) etc. The president is an economic illiterate as are almost all union executives and city pols. Why the GOP doesn’t make this an issue is beyond me.

I have no sympathy for these bozos. They keep voting them back in knowing that they are corrupt. As soon as there is a change, they will throw their “friends” under the bus. They are in it for the power. As soon as they have the power, they will mimic the ones that are out of power. Stated differently, they are unprincipled democrats.

From this article alone it sounds like Mack Glover isn’t so much an opponent of the Chicago Machine, but rather he’s unhappy that he’s not a part of that machine – or at least a bigger part. Why trade one corrupt political machine for another? Is he unhappy with how the people in the local community are treated? Then let him stand up and do something other than whine – 532 victims of gun violence could NEVER happen without the assistance of people in his community.

Voting with his feet is the best solution – but will that work? NO, if all a person brings with them is their need for food stamps and a welfare check. North Dakota? ROFL When speaking of North Dakota people need to STOP speaking in percentage points and talk numbers. The population of Seattle is bigger than the entire state of North Dakota! The actual jobs available (in numbers) is low, meaning if all a person can do is sweep a floor or operate a cash register then they’ll be on welfare quickly; with -70F windchill winters! Enjoy!

There are two questionable premises here:

    1) A person who only has a need for food stamps and a welfare check is NOT going to move anywhere given their lack of motivation to improve themselves. The ones that wise up will move if given a nudge of information and opportunity. This is why one should never make life so easy that the kids won’t move out, as it were. Unsustainable economic systems are self correcting over time, they collapse forcing everyone to fend for themselves or they are deleted from the gene pool.

    2) While the population of ND is small, all currently large population centers started with zero people. It is an axiom of capitalism that growth spurs growth. As more people migrate into ND the job opportunities INCREASE because wealth production activities are not a zero sum game. Every person who moves into an area creates a demand for products and services to be supplied by others. As long as there is a wealth creation based economy (low tax environment allowing wealth creating investment) as in ND, jobs will be created to employ the new comers.

This is why Capitalism has been and always will be the best economic model ever devised because it is based on growth. Socialism is based on the zero sum game, that is why they insist on redistributing wealth.

Ann,

You hit the head on the nail when you said “What underlies Glover’s outrage is the union-government relationship, and the apparent racism the union operatives are exercising along the way (they say the unions shy away from hiring black workers). Along the way Glover and his fellow community members end up ruled by black Democratic leadership as if they were serfs and not citizens.

This afternoon I’ve been reading Dr. Bruce Bartlett’s 2008 book “Wrong on Race”. (Everyone, especially blacks, should read this!) He says that thanks to Section 7a of the NIRA, instituted by Roosevelt, “most unions had excluded blacks. There was also historical antipathy between black workers and white unionists because the former were often used as strikebreakers. Consequently, the spread of unionism . . . tended to put jobs in unionized industries off limits to blacks.”

Apparently, also in the 1930s the minimum wage was advocated as yet another means to keep blacks out of the labor market. The infamous Theodore Bilbo (D-MS) said:

“With the wage and hour on the statute books . . . the white man will receive a wage which will enable him to accept the job which the poor Negro has been filing in the South, because the wage will now be sufficiently high so that the white man can maintain his standard of living in the South. So that the poor Negro who has been having the labor job heretofore will be out of luck. We will find in the South a great army of millions of Negroes who are going to lose their jobs to white men because the wage scale has been increased.”

History repeats itself. This time the Jackson family and their ilk are the overseers of a Democrat (union-run) plantation. Some things never change!

They don’t want to get rid of the system, they just want “their piece of the action”. Until they realize that they’re the small dog in the fight for a shrinking pie, and decide to make bigger pies, nothing will change.

A part of my heart really goes out to those sufferring people in Chicago, but then again, another part of my heart (the mean part) thinks that these people deserve everything they are getting for their blind fealty to a corrupt political party for the last 60+ years. And, if I was a member of the Jackson Tribe in Chicago, I would be very, very careful.

JackRussellTerrierist in reply to Liberty. | January 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm

They do indeed deserve everything they get. Chicago is a lost cause.

The fact that they’re bitching about white firms getting contracts over black firms tells me everything I need to know about where their sentiments lie and what exactly it is that they want.

They made their bed. They can lie in it. They would have gotten a much fairer shake from white Republicans than they ever would or will from their black “leaders” and their ‘rat cronies of any color, but they’re too stupid to know it.

Anybody who thinks these people will ever become conservatives or ‘pubs should gimme a call to make an offer on this bridge I have for sale.
