Disheartened Obamaphiles should just stop talking

Disheartened Obamaphiles should just stop talking

It’s hard to know whether to cheer their disappointment or commiserate.

My natural inclination is to tell them to S*** *** **** ** considering that they have subjected us to four more years.

From Michael Goodwin, Obama 2: Even more reckless:

People weren’t paying attention. Those are the people now surprised that President Obama is still stridently campaigning instead of doing the real work of governing.

Even some who voted for him last month are puzzled as he threatens to take the nation off the fiscal cliff if Republicans don’t give him the tax hikes he demands now and puts off entitlement reform until later. He even wants to increase spending.

I’ve talked to people who supported him, and their surprise is surprising.

Both are smart, accomplished men, but I’m baffled that they didn’t see this coming.

“I thought he was going to move toward the center after the election,” one stunned Obama backer told me. Another said he believed the president’s positions were opening gambits and he would compromise. “It’s the first round,” he insisted.

From Ralph Nader back in September, reflecting the progressive angst that Obama is more abusive than GWB (h/t @danriehl):

From Glenn Greenwald:

For the last four years, Barack Obama has not only asserted, but aggressively exercised, the power to target for execution anyone he wants, including US citizens, anywhere in the world. He has vigorously resisted not only legal limits on this assassination power, but even efforts to bring some minimal transparency to the execution orders he issues.

This claimed power has resulted in four straight years of air bombings in multiple Muslim countries in which no war has been declared – using drones, cruise missiles and cluster bombs – ending the lives of more than 2,500 people, almost always far away from any actual battlefield. They are typically targeted while riding in cars, at work, at home, and even while rescuing or attending funerals for others whom Obama has targeted. A substantial portion of those whom he has killed – at the very least – have been civilians, including dozens of children….

The result is that, for so many, it is genuinely inconceivable that a leader as noble, kind and wise as Barack Obama would abuse his assassination and detention powers. It isn’t just rank partisan opportunism or privilege that leads them not to object to Obama’s embrace of these radical powers and the dangerous theories that shield those powers from checks or scrutiny. It’s that they sincerely admire him as a leader and a man so much that they believe in their heart (like Obama himself obviously believes) that due process, checks and transparency are not necessary when he wields these powers. Unlike when a GOP villain is empowered, Obama’s Goodness and his wisdom are the only safeguards we need.

My conscience and hands are clean.

Mr Goodwin writes: Both are smart, accomplished men, but I’m baffled that they didn’t see this coming.

You are incorrect in your description. Like many, you confuse being intelligent with being smart. If these men don’t know who Obama is after 6 plus years of him being in the public eye, they are not smart at all.

I would split hairs even further. Those individuals may be highly trained and good at whatever they do, but that does not equate to being smart or intelligent or discerning.

If all of these “smart” people have been watching the same old news programs that the zombies have watched for the last 60 years, how would they even know this much?

[…] From Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection: It’s hard to know whether to cheer their disappointment or commiserate. […]

These are emotional issues: narcissism and protracted adolescence. These people have been spoiled, and have become lazy and bratty. (Ignorance and arrogance.)

The cowards running the GOP are the bad parents. Instead of showing tough love, the GOP is indulging these people.

Boehner gets any courage at all from a bottle, just as Hillary Clinton hides in a bottle from her failures and her anxiety about having to perform way above her ability.

We need to get primal here in our thinking. We need to be very, very tough — and choose only GOP personnel who are willing to be very, very tough.

My intent the next four years is to question anyone who supported Obama and complains or claims to be surprised at the results of his mismanagement and destruction of our economy and nation. Question after question, closer and closer to the corner. I have no pity or mercy for anyone smart enough to realize how stupid it was to vote for him. I have no patience for those who remain committed for the handouts. They are unteachable, so I won’t waste my time.

Silly silly Obamaphiles. They have so much to learn. Why would the president want to actually deal with silly fiscal cliff negotiations when, from the comfort of his golf cart, he can push the remote control for his Talking Puppet Geithner to speak on command at all five Sunday talk shows. Easy. Clean. Done.

More and more I think of Obama as a figurehead who “leads” by talking about popular topics and leaves discussion of tough topics to surrogates.

I truly cannot imagine Obama sitting at a table trying to figure out how to manage our government better and save the taxpayers’ money.

      herm2416 in reply to Catherine. | December 2, 2012 at 5:35 pm

Catherine, even more than “not being able to imagine” is even thinking he would have any clue as to HOW to manage anything…never having had to be accountable for anything in his silver platter-Affirmative Action assistance in his life. If one is seldom accountable for one’s actions, how could one possibly be expected to manage anything, it is all done by someone else.

Obama sponsors regime change (e.g. Egypt, Libya, Syria) — with all the casualties which such enterprise entails — without guidance. The priority for human and civil rights advocates is to manufacture a perception that Israel is an apartheid state, while in other nations, including South Africa which enjoys a “progressive” constitution, apartheid is black letter law.

Meanwhile, he has created a virtual economy sustained through manufactured debt, which diminishes the purchasing power of not only Americans, but also Egyptians, Libyans, Syrians, and others who denominate their debt in dollars or use it in a monetary exchange.

Well, cognitive dissonance has its consequences, most notably exhibited as depression and desires to escape reality (typically through psychotropic drugs). It’s nice to live in a state of decadence, but it has an exceedingly short lifetime.

“..This claimed power has resulted in four straight years of air bombings in multiple Muslim countries in which no war has been declared – using drones, cruise missiles and cluster bombs – ending the lives of more than 2,500 people…”
Greenwald
And who is going to complain or even publish the truth when he starts killing recepients of social security? That is the beliefs of the “human ecology” system which is straight out of Hitler’s playbook. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, Dr. Berwick and others in this regime believes that genocide should be used to reduce the world population to under 500 million. What else would social security at 41 sites be using with all that hollow point bullets that is ordered?
Actually this was Hitler’s first strategy before he developed the crematories. He used prisoners to kill 24/7, thousands died during the 1940s. Death panels? No, death camps.

There is still enormous denial — even on the conservative side — just who ‘Barack Obama’ is and who the people propping him up really are.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. Have you read Culture of Corruption? Show me your friends…and all that. After six years of this man, I would say the conservatives pretty much know how evil he truly is. Alinsky would be mighty proud of him.

Did you ever listen to guys like Hugh Hewitt? While he dreads Obama in high office, he believes ‘politics as usual’ will trump any insanity planned just who is in power now. Same with Michael Medved. Same with most of their listeners.

Obama has yet to show his hand sufficiently to jolt conservatives in denial. He will soon.

Here’s the dirty little secret that even I do not want to think about, since I want to sleep at night.

Obama is so absorbed in the fantasy world in which he is the sun at the center, we effectively have no president.

His aides are active in promoting the agenda but he is so disengaged and operates in the self-delusion zone to the point that if an enemy launched an attack the military would find him talking to paintings and playing with dolls like Dark Helmet in Spaceballs.

He is not even an empty suit any more. He is an empty golf shirt. We have no head of government. And his back-up is Joe Biden.

“…a leader as noble, kind and wise as Barack Obama…”

I threw up a little reading that.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I believe the correct term would be “enough to gag a maggot.”

    Couldn’t agree more!

Obama will happily take the country over the fiscal cliff if he thinks Republicans will absorb the greater part of the blame, because he — and a lot of other Dems — want the revenue from across the board tax increases on everyone. As of January 1st, the facts of the ground will have shifted. All that added revenue will effectively eliminate those deficits as far as the eye can see and shored up the long term debt picture. Obama can then propose new tax CUTS and take credit for that!

The assumption that the tax increases would be recessionary? Maybe, but does Obama really care about that? He has done very nicely, thank you, without worrying much about speeding recovery, and now he does not face reelection. His legacy? Progressive “reforms” all of which cost a lot. Thus, the need for the revenue.

My 18 year old neighbor was helping me with a remodeling project today. He told me many of his friends from the local community college already have buyers’ remorse over voting for Obama. He voted for Romney. Most of his friends voted for Obama because all they saw on the web and heard in school was how awesome Obama is. Now they are are worried they won’t be able to find a job.

At the risk of being see as insufficiently sympathetic, my response rhymes with “truck den”. God knows they did that to me and everyone else two months ago.

Good! I hope and pray that none of them do.

It couldn’t happen to a better, more deserving group of people. Wait until they realize that finding a job isn’t the end of it, which should happen as soon as we get a president that wants to promote job creation. The biggest shock for them will be the huge tax bite taken from their checks for a MAJORITY of their working years. They voted for it, so my sympathy level is exactly zero.

It’s hard to know whether to cheer their disappointment or commiserate.

Actually, it isn’t hard at all for me. I’ve been waiting for a chance to point-and-laugh. Sure, it sucks for me too, but I’m going to howl with laughter at their crestfallen, horrified faces as we’re all carted off to the gulag.

“The result is that, for so many, it is genuinely inconceivable that a leader as noble, kind and wise as Barack Obama would abuse his assassination and detention powers.”

Your typical liberal will never see anything shocking or wrong in someone praising Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, or any other leftist tyrant and thug. To them, communist monsters are merely “liberals in a hurry”. Every revelation of evil done by leftists will come as a complete surprise–when it is even admitted to have happened.

“As for victims, the first words on entering a cell were almost always, we are told, a shaken, ‘But, why, why?’ The prison and camp literature tells of the same phrase, ‘Why?’ often found written on cell walls and carved into the sides of prison wagons and on the planks of the transit camps.”

Robert Conquest, The Great Terror , Chapter 15.

I thought this was an appropriate quotation for this thread

LOL. All I can say is “NOT IN MY NAME!”

My attitude to the dawning realisation of how awful Obama is, and is going to be: “you broke it, you bought it.” Almost all of modern society’s ills can be explained by the unwillingness of people to realise that actions have consequences, sometimes baleful ones. They need to suffer the punishment for their stupidity (and cupidity). Or, as Ben Franklin put it, “Experience is a dear teacher, but fools will learn at no other.”

I wouldn’t exclude the idea that between da O’bomba and his dolls and paintings, the conversation tinted in twilight is more focused on how to get the Republicans to let the whole thing crash. The ultimate plot to set new levels of precedent for Executive power. ?What debt ceiling? As pointed out above, he has staff to cover his yesterdays.

I give up – I really just don’t care anymore…I listened and read and believed there was some hope – until the election. And now I see that we live in a land populated by at least 50% morons – they’ll probably cost me my livelihood and everything else so let them eat their own fecal matter and succumb to its affects.

Greenwald writes: “a leader as noble, kind and wise as Barack Obama “… Oh, please! Don’t make me vomit. Greenwald is a brain-dead idiot, and this phrase proves it.

William A. Jacobson in reply to Ken Mitchell. | December 4, 2012 at 3:46 pm

In fairness to Greenwald, I think (hope) he was being sarcastic.

Sorry, Professor; I wouldn’t care to put any money on that proposition. I think he’s as fatuous as he sounded here.

Well, having read the article, I believe the author’s mindset was more horrified than anything else. He gives the impression that he’s seeing the American Presidency turn into this millennium’s Roman Dictator, with all that that will likely imply.

In all honesty, I get the impression that Britain has long been expecting us to go Imperial, and has been more surprised that we haven’t yet.

Sigh. We’re talking Obama 2.0 and technically we’re only at Obama 1.99 until Inauguration Day. Mercy

I disagree. There may be a few Obama voters who are upset by his bellicose take-no-prisoners stance since winning re-election. But many, many more are either largely satisfied, or are upset that he is not more confrontational and bullying. I work in academia, and I see plenty from the angry group (they can’t understand why there is not actual blood flowing in the streets yet).

In short, I fear that there are millions of voters who are in a more or less permanent state of rage and anger and revenge-seeking against the 1%, whites, males, Jews, Christians, or whomever the media deems is The Enemy of the People. This will not end well.

Don’t blame me, Goodwin and Greenwald, I voted for the Mormon.

They voted for their girly-parts.

“It is genuinely inconceivable that a leader as noble, kind and wise as Barack Obama would abuse his assassination and detention powers.”

I love the smell of cognitive dissonance in the morning. Either Obama is a man of assassination and detention or he is noble, kind, and wise. He is not both.
