All Hail Obama!

All Hail Obama!

I criticize the president frequently here. So let me now praise him for remarks he made today regarding Israel’s attacks on Hamas’ positions in Gaza.  Via the New York Times:

Speaking on Sunday from Bangkok, President Obama condemned missile attacks by Palestinian fighters in Gaza and defended Israel’s right to protect itself.

“There’s no country on earth that would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens from outside its borders,” Mr. Obama said in his first public comments since the violence broke out. “We are fully supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself.”

Had the president spoken like this four years ago, rather than encourage the Palestinians to think they can have the whole enchilada by (a) condemning Israeli “settlements,” and (b) suggesting that the starting point for final-status negotiations be the 1949 armistice lines, we might actually be closer to something workable.

Let’s hope the president keeps up the clear thinking.  He may yet deserve that Nobel Peace Prize.

Like everything else that spews from this man’s piehole, I think that this statement has an expiration date sooner than a gallon of milk left in a hot oven.

I guess we’ll just have to see how far that “support” extends.

Gag me with a spoon. It’s a ruse or false tell of some kind. He hates Israel. He’s undermining it as we speak.

On the other hand, he can say what he likes now without having to please anyone including democrats.

How about Iran’s nuclear program?

“We are fully supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself.”

Finally.

The old saying is to give the Devil his due! Yet, yep, there’s most likely an expiration date on his statement.

It might be wise to wait for a day before heaping more praise on His Worshipness! (I know, my bad!) 😉

Sorry to not share your enthusiasm but I fail to see restating the obvious rises to the level of “nobel worthy reasoning”.
That a President shares the views of perhaps 100 million Americans doesnt strike be as particularly breathtaking.

“There’s no country on earth that would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens from outside its borders,”

Except Pakistan. Right, Mr. President?

Everything out of the kenyans mouth (except when he goes off prompter) is calculated for maximum political gain.

If you want to see how he really feels, just wait until the next time Bibi comes for a visit. You’ll see the mutual hatred for yourself…..

Agree with the sentiments of this post. Credit should be given when due.

Credit should be given where credit is due, but credit should not be given until it’s fully earned.

What are “we,” complete suckers? Not here.

Obama’s merely spewing a line or two has not ‘earned’ him anything. He has zero trust among half the nation, and rightfully so.

Obama will earn kudos re Israel when all is said and done, not by throwing out a line of b.s. while stabbing Israel in the back. Re Israel: this clown has a LOT to make up for.

Yeah agree. Simply stating a nation has the right to defend itself…well come on…not any meat with those potatos. Had he condemned the missle attacks that brought on the defense measures? That might have some more punch if you will.
But he hasnt said anything beyond a nation can defend itself but he carefully stopped short of saying a ground invasion was part of what he calls defending itself.

Lets rewind the time machine shall we?

In late December 2008, after Hamas broke the Gaza Strip ceasefire by rocket attacks against Israel and Israel retaliated with waves of airstrikes leaving over 200 dead, Rice kept outgoing President George W. Bush abreast of the situation. “The United States strongly condemns the repeated rocket and mortar attacks against Israel and holds Hamas responsible for breaking the cease-fire and for the renewal of violence in Gaza,” Rice said in a statement. “The cease-fire should be restored immediately. The United States calls on all concerned to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the innocent people of Gaza.”[25] In early January 2009, Rice went to New York and personally negotiated United Nations Security Council Resolution 1860 supporting a ceasefire, but then abstained on its 14-0 passage. Explaining the abstention, Rice said the US wanted to first see the outcome of the Egyptian peace efforts, but allowed the resolution to go forward because it was a step in the right direction

All I can think of with that headline is the scene in Men In Black 2 with the self-contained universe at Grand Central…. Our current fearless leader is about as fickle the inhabitants of locker C18.

with obama, his actions speak much more than his words. Lets see how things play out over the next few weeks. I do hope you are right, Joel. However, after the last few years, I have serious doubts….

Two Russian words from the world of “Tradecraft”:

and

Subotai Bahadur

Joel: “Let’s hope the president keeps up the clear thinking.”

Right. Uh-Huh. Sure. Got it. Moon…Green cheese..? Yep.

You’re wishful thinking is a tad…sorry…Idiotic. This
is the same man who recently dissed Bibi at the UN by attending a soiree in Vegas hosted by a foul-mouthed HipHop Twit instead. And, his grotesque Sec’y of State and Boob of a UN Ambassador were too busy lunching to attend Bibi’s hugely important speech at the General Assembly, as well.

Sorry, talk is cheap and we all know how he loves the sound of his voice, particularly when speaking, ex cathedra (he thinks). I would tend to agree with Subotai above. I’d give O his due if he had ever earned it. This is what he said today, let’s wait and see what it’s followed up with tomorrow.

So says the man whose policies emboldened Hamas and facilitated the attacks.

Ya left out this part.

” Obama also expressed a wish that Israel could accomplish its military goals “without a ramping up of military activity in Gaza,” according to AFP.”

So, it’s ok with ovomit that Israel defends itself, but only if they don’t do what they need to do to defend themselves.

Pure smoke and mirrors, the commie, koranimal POS hopes Israel is completely destroyed. He’s done everything he can to help. He’s evil.
